Abstract:
Recently, we have discovered an error in our Monte-Carlo spectral fitting routine, more specifically where the errors on the fluxes were rescaled to get a reduced chi2 of 1. The rescaled errors were too big, resulting in too wide a range of good fits in our 100 step Monte-Carlo routine. This problem affects Figs. 7-9 and Tables A.1, A.2 in Gielen et al. (2008), Table 3 in Gielen et al. (2009a), and Table 4 in Gielen et al. (2009b). We corrected for this error and present the new values and errors in the tables below. The new values and errors nearly all fall within the old error range. Our best chi2 values and overall former scientific results are not affected. With these new errors some possible new trends in the dust parameters might be observed. These will be discussed in an upcoming paper where we extend the sample presented in Gielen et al. (2008) with newly obtained SPITZER-IRS data.

As a result of the variability survey in Chi Persei and NGC6910, the number of Beta Cep stars that are members of these two open clusters is increased to twenty stars, nine in NGC6910 and eleven in Chi Persei. We compare pulsational properties, in particular the frequency spectra, of Beta Cep stars in both clusters and explain the differences in terms of the global parameters of the clusters. We also indicate that the more complicated pattern of the variability among B type stars in Chi Persei is very likely caused by higher rotational velocities of stars in this cluster. We conclude that the sample of pulsating stars in the two open clusters constitutes a very good starting point for the ensemble asteroseismology of Beta Cep-type stars and maybe also for other B-type pulsators.

CONTEXT: Recent progress in the seismic interpretation of field beta Cep stars has resulted in improvements of the physics in the stellar structure and evolution models of massive stars. Further asteroseismic constraints can be obtained from studying ensembles of stars in a young open cluster, which all have similar age, distance and chemical composition.
AIMS: To improve our comprehension of the beta Cep stars, we studied the young open cluster NGC 884 to discover new B-type pulsators, besides the two known beta Cep stars, and other variable stars.
METHODS: An extensive multi-site campaign was set up to gather accurate CCD photometry time series in four filters (U, B, V, I) of a field of NGC884. Fifteen different instruments collected almost 77500 CCD images in 1286 hours. The images were calibrated and reduced to transform the CCD frames into interpretable differential light curves. Various variability indicators and frequency analyses were applied to detect variable stars in the field. Absolute photometry was taken to deduce some general cluster and stellar properties.
RESULTS: We achieved an accuracy for the brightest stars of 5.7 mmag in V, 6.9 mmag in B, 5.0 mmag in I and 5.3 mmag in U. The noise level in the amplitude spectra is 50 micromag in the V band. Our campaign confirms the previously known pulsators, and we report more than one hundred new multi- and mono-periodic B-, A- and F-type stars. Their interpretation in terms of classical instability domains is not straightforward, pointing to imperfections in theoretical instability computations. In addition, we have discovered six new eclipsing binaries and four candidates as well as other irregular variable stars in the observed field.

Aims: By studying the photospheric abundances of 4 RV Tauri stars in the LMC, we test whether the depletion pattern of refractory elements, seen in similar Galactic sources, is also common for extragalactic sources. Since this depletion process probably only occurs through interaction with a stable disc, we investigate the circumstellar environment of these sources. Methods: A detailed photospheric abundance study was performed using high-resolution UVES optical spectra. To study the circumstellar environment we use photometric data to construct the spectral energy distributions of the stars, and determine the geometry of the circumstellar environment, whereas low-resolution Spitzer-IRS infrared spectra are used to trace its mineralogy. Results: Our results show that, also in the LMC, the photospheres of RV Tauri stars are commonly affected by the depletion process, although it can differ significantly in strength from source to source. From our detailed disc modelling and mineralogy study, we find that this process, as in the Galaxy, appears closely related to the presence of a stable Keplerian disc. The newly studied extragalactic objects have similar observational characteristics as Galactic post-AGB binaries surrounded by a dusty disc, and are therefore also believed to be part of a binary system. One source shows a very small infrared excess, atypical for a disc source, but still has evidence for depletion. We speculate this could point to the presence of a very evolved disc, similar to debris discs seen around young stellar objects.

While the first binary post-AGB stars were serendipitously discovered, the distinct characteristics of their Spectral Energy Distribution (SED) allowed us to launch a more systematic search for binaries. We selected post-AGB objects which show a broad dust excess often starting already at H or K, pointing to the presence of a gravitationally bound dusty disc in the system. We started a very extensive multi-wavelength study of those systems and here we report on our radial velocity and photometric monitoring results for six stars of early F type, which are pulsators of small amplitude. To determine the radial velocity of low signal-to-noise time-series, we constructed dedicated auto-correlation masks. The radial velocity variations were subjected to detailed analysis to differentiate between pulsational variability and variability due to orbital motion. Finally orbital minimalisation was performed to constrain the orbital elements. All of the six objects are binaries, with orbital periods ranging from 120 to 1800 days. Five systems have non-circular orbits. The mass functions range from 0.004 to 0.57 solar mass and the companions are likely unevolved objects of (very) low initial mass. We argue that these binaries must have been subject to severe binary interaction when the primary was a cool supergiant. Although the origin of the circumstellar disc is not well understood, the disc is generally believed to be formed during this strong interaction phase. The eccentric orbits of these highly evolved objects remain poorly understood. With the measured orbits and mass functions we conclude that the circumbinary discs seem to have a major impact on the evolution of a significant fraction of binary systems.

Gamma Doradus stars are excellent targets for asteroseismology since the gravity modes present in these stars probe the deep stellar interiors. Mode identification will improve the knowledge of these stars considerably. A selected group of Gamma Doradus stars and some candidates were observed with the Mercator telescope to find and/or confirm the periodicities in the light variations and to derive reliable amplitude ratios in different pass bands. A frequency analysis was performed on all new data obtained in the Geneva photometric system. In order to have more reliable and accurate frequencies, the new data were combined with similar data from the literature and with Hipparcos observations. A set of frequencies that minimized the the residuals in a harmonic fit was searched for while allowing means and amplitudes to vary from one observation set to another. Frequencies and amplitudes in the photometric passbands of the Geneva system are given for 21 Gamma Doradus stars. We report the discovery of HD 74504 as a newly found Gamma Doradus star. Our study provides the first extensive multicolour database for the understanding of gravity modes in F-type stars.

Aims. Rotation periods of cometary nuclei are scarce, though important when studying the nature and origin of these objects. Our aim is to derive a rotation period for the nucleus of comet C/2004 Q2 (Machholz). Methods. C/2004 Q2 (Machholz) was monitored using the Merope CCD camera on the Mercator telescope at La Palma, Spain, in January 2005, during its closest approach to Earth, implying a high spatial resolution (50km per pixel). One hundred seventy images were recorded in three different photometric broadband filters, two blue ones (Geneva U and B) and one red (Cousins I). Magnitudes for the comet's optocentre were derived with very small apertures to isolate the contribution of the nucleus to the bright coma, including correction for the seeing. Our CCD photometry also permitted us to study the coma profile of the inner coma in the different bands. Results. A rotation period for the nucleus of P = 9.1 +/- 0.2 h was derived. The period is on the short side compared to published periods of other comets, but still shorter periods are known. Nevertheless, comparing our results with images obtained in the narrowband CN filter, the possibility that our method sampled P/2 instead of P cannot be excluded. Coma profiles are also presented, and a terminal ejection velocity of the grains v_gr = 1609 +/- 48 m/s is found from the continuum profile in the I band.

The metal-poor post-AGB star HD 46703 is shown to be a single-line spectroscopic binary with a period of 600 days, a high velocity of -94 km/s, and an orbital eccentricity of 0.3. Light curve studies show that it also pulsates with a period of 29 days. High-resolution, high signal-to-noise spectra were used for a new abundance study. The atmospheric model determined is T(eff) = 6250 K, log(g) = 1.0, V(t) = 3.0 km/s, and a metal abundance of [M/H] = -1.5. A low carbon abundance and lack of s-process element enhancement indicate that the star has not experienced third dredge-up on the AGB. The sulfur and zinc abundances are high compared with iron, and the chemical abundances show a clear anti-correlation with condensation temperature. The abundance depletion pattern is similar to that seen in other post-AGB binaries, and, like them, is attributed to the chemical fractionation of refractory elements onto dust stored in a circumbinary disk and the re-accretion of volatiles in the stellar atmosphere. The infrared excess is small but the excess energy distribution is very similar to what can expected from a disk. HD 46703 joins the growing list of depleted, post-AGB stars which are likely surrounded by a dusty and stable circumbinary disk.

The H_2 and [Fe II] emission is spatially extended. The collisionally excited [O I] and [C I] optical emission lines have a similar double peaked profile compared to the extracted H_2 profile and appear to be produced in the same shock. They all indicate an expansion velocity of ~8 km/s and the presence of a neutral, very high density region with $n_{\rm e}$ about 3 x 10^6 to 5 x10^7 cm$^{-3}$. The [Fe II] emission however is single peaked. It has a gaussian FWHM of 30 km/s and a total width of 62 km/s at 1% of the peak. The Pa$β$ profile is even wider with a gaussian FWHM of 48 km/s and a total width of 75 km/s at 1% of the peak. conclusions: The H$_2$ emission is excited in a slow 5 to 20 km/s shock into dense material at the edge of the lobes, caused by the interaction of the AGB ejecta and the post-AGB wind. The 3D representation of the H_2 data shows a hollow structure with less H_2 emission in the equatorial region. The [Fe II] emission is not present in the lobes, but originates close to the central star in fast shocks in the post-AGB wind or in a disk. The Pa$β$ emission also appears to originate close to the star.

Comet C/2004 Q2 (Machholz) was intensively monitored during its closest approach to Earth (January 2005) with the CCD camera Merope mounted on the Flemish 1.2m Mercator telescope, in three different bands (Geneva U and B and Cousins I). Spectacular ion rays, thin ionic structures rapidly folding tailward, were recorded in the U band during one night, January 12th. Data from the SOHO satellite that was extrapolated corotationally to the position of the comet showed that the ion rays were formed during a sudden change in the in-situ solar wind state. We were able to succesfully correlate a high-speed solar wind stream with the appearance of folding ion rays. To our knowledge, this is the first clear observational evidence that folding ion rays in cometary comae are produced by a sudden change in the local solar wind state.

The low-metallicity RV Tauri star MACHO47.2496.8, recently discovered in the Large Magellanic Cloud, is highly enriched in carbon and heavy elements produced by the slow neutron capture process (s-process), and is most probably a genuine post-C(N-type) asymptotic giant branch (AGB) star. We use the analysis of the abundances of MACHO47.2496.8 to constrain free parameters in AGB models. We test which values of the free parameters describing uncertain physical mechanisms in AGB stars, namely the third dredge-up and the features of the 13C neutron source, produce models that better match the abundances observed in MACHO47.2496.8. We carry out stellar population synthesis coupled with s-process nucleosynthesis using a synthetic stellar evolution code. The s-process ratios observed in MACHO47.2496.8 can be matched by the same models that explain the s-process ratios of Galactic AGB and post-AGB stars of metallicity > Z_sun/10, except for the choice of the effectiveness of 13C as a neutron source, which has to be lower by roughly a factor of 3 to 6. The less effective neutron source for lower metallicities is also required when comparing population synthesis results to observations of Galactic halo $s$-enhanced stars, such as Pb stars. The 12C/13C ratio in MACHO47.2496.8 cannot be matched simultaneously and requires the occurrence of extra-mixing processes. The confirmed trend of the decreased efficiency of the 13C neutron source with metallicity requires an explanation from AGB s-process models. The present work is to date the first comparison between theoretical models and the detailed abundances of an extragalactic post-AGB star.

One of the puzzling findings in the study of the chemical evolution of (post-)AGB stars is why very similar stars (in terms of metallicity, spectral type, infrared properties, etc...) show a very different photospheric composition. We aim at extending the still limited sample of s-process enriched post-AGB stars, in order to obtain a statistically large enough sample that allows us to formulate conclusions concerning the 3rd dredge-up occurrence. We selected two post-AGB stars on the basis of IR colours indicative of a past history of heavy mass loss: IRAS08281-4850 and IRAS14325-6428. They are cool sources in the locus of the Planetary Nebulae (PNe) in the IRAS colour-colour diagram. Abundances of both objects were derived for the first time on the basis of high-quality UVES and EMMI spectra, using a critically compiled line list with accurate log(gf) values, together with the latest Kurucz model atmospheres. Both objects have very similar spectroscopically defined effective temperatures of 7750-8000K. They are strongly carbon and s-process enriched, with a C/O ratio of 1.9 and 1.6, and an [ls/Fe] of +1.7 and +1.2, for IRAS08281 and IRAS14325 resp. Moreover, the spectral energy distributions (SEDs) point to heavy mass-loss during the preceding AGB phase. IRAS08281 and IRAS14325 are prototypical post-AGB objects in the sense that they show strong post 3rd dredge-up chemical enrichments. The neutron irradiation has been extremely efficient, despite the only mild sub-solar metallicity. This is not conform with the recent chemical models. The existence of very similar post-AGB stars without any enrichment emphasizes our poor knowledge of the details of the AGB nucleosynthesis and dredge-up phenomena. We call for a very systematic chemical study of all cool sources in the PN region of the IRAS colour-colour diagram.

In the generally accepted, but poorly documented model, silicate J-type C-stars are binary objects for which the silicate emission originates from a circumbinary or a circumcompanion disc. We aim at testing this hypothesis by a thorough spectral and spatial observational study of one object: IRAS18006-3213.
We obtained, analysed and modeled high spatial resolution interferometric VLTI/MIDI observations on multiple baselines ranging from 45 m to 100 m. All observations resolved the object and show the very compact nature of the N-band emission (~30 mas). In addition, the highest spatial resolution data show a significant differential phase jump around 8.3 micron. This demonstrates the asymmetric nature of the N-band emission. Moreover, the single telescope N-band spectrum shows the signature of highly processed silicate grains. These data are used to confirm the model on silicate J-type C-stars for IRAS18006-3213. We show that the most favourable model of the dust geometry is a stable circumbinary disc around the system, seen under an intermediate inclination.
The data presented on the silicate J-type C-star IRAS18006-3213 provide evidence that the oxygen rich dust is trapped in a circumbinary disc. The formation of this disc is probably linked to the binary nature of the central star.

This is the first step in a project to combine studies of eclipsing binaries and oscillating stars to probe the interior of Blue Stragglers (BS). This may imply a way to discriminate observationally between different birth mechanisms of BS stars. We study the open cluster NGC2506 which contains oscillating BS stars and detached eclipsing binaries for which accurate parameters can be derived. This will tightly constrain the cluster isochrone and provide an absolute mass, radius and luminosity-scale for the cluster stars along with the cluster age, metallicity and distance. The present work focuses on obtaining the light curves of the binaries and determine their orbital periods, on obtaining power spectra of the oscillating BS stars to select targets for follow-up studies, and on searching for gamma Doradus type variables which are also expected to be present in the cluster. With a two-colour, dual-site photometric campaign we obtained 3120 CCD-images of NGC2506 spread over four months. We analysed the BI time-series of the oscillating stars and used simulations to derive statistical uncertainties of the resulting frequencies, amplitudes and phases. A preliminary mode-identification was performed using frequency ratios for the oscillating BS stars, and amplitude ratios and phase differences for a population of newly detected gamma Doradus stars. We quadrupled the number of known variables in NGC2506 by discovering 3 new oscillating BS stars, 15 gamma Doradus stars and four new eclipsing binaries. The orbital periods of 2 known, detached eclipsing binaries were derived. We discovered a BS star with both p-mode and g-mode variability and we confronted our gamma Doradus observations with state-of-the-art seismic models, but found significant discrepancy between theory and observations.

Recent photospheric abundance studies of galactic field RV Tauri stars show that depletion of refractory elements is rather common in these evolved objects. The process that creates this chemical anomaly is not understood well, but it probably requires the presence of gravitationally bound dust in a binary system. We test for the presence of depletion in extra-galactic objects. A detailed photospheric abundance study on the basis of high-quality UVES spectra was performed on the RV Tauri star in the LMC: MACHO82.8405.15. Abundances were derived using a critically compiled line list with accurate log(gf) values and the latest Kurucz model atmospheres. With [Fe/H]=-2.6 in combination with [Zn/Fe]=+2.3 and [S/Ti]=+2.5, MACHO82.8405.15 displays a strong depletion abundance pattern. The effect of the depletion is comparable to the strongest depletions seen in field Galactic RV Tauri stars. The chemical analysis of MACHO82.8405.15 proves that the depletion process also occurs in the extragalactic members of the RV Tauri pulsation class. Our program star is a member of a larger sample of LMC RV Tauri objects. This sample is unique, since the distances of the members are well-constrained. Further studies of this sample are therefore expected to gain deeper insight into the poorly understood depletion phenomenon and of the evolutionary status of RV Tauri stars in general.

Context. Abundance analysis of post-AGB objects as probes of AGB nucleosynthesis. Aims. A detailed photospheric abundance study is performed on the carbon-rich post-AGB candidate MACHO47.2496.8 in the LMC. Methods. High-resolution, high signal-to-noise ESO VLT-UVES spectra of MACHO47.2496.8 are analysed by performing detailed spectrum synthesis modelling using state-of-the-art carbon-rich MARCS atmosphere models. Results. The spectrum of MACHO47.2496.8 is not only dominated by bands of carbon bearing molecules, but also by lines of atomic transitions of s-process elements. The metallicity of [Fe/H]=-1.4 is surprisingly low for a field LMC star. The C/O ratio, however difficult to quantify, is greater than 2, and the s-process enrichment is large: the light s-process elements are enhanced by 1.2 dex compared to iron ([ls/Fe]=+1.2), while for the heavy s-process elements an even stronger enrichment is measured: [hs/Fe]=+2.1. The lead abundance is comparable to the [hs/Fe]. With its low intrinsic metallicity and its luminosity at the low end of the carbon star luminosity function, the star represents likely the final stage of a low initial mass star. Conclusions. The LMC RV Tauri star MACHO47.2496.8 is highly carbon and s-process enriched, and is most probable a genuine post-C(N-type) AGB star. This is the first detailed abundance analysis of an extragalactic post-AGB star to date.

In this contribution we give a progress report on our systematic study of a large sample of post-AGB stars. The sample stars were selected on the basis of their infrared colours and the selection criteria were tuned to discover objects with hot dust in the system. We started a very extensive, multi-wavelength programme which includes the analysis of our radial velocity monitoring; our optical high-resolution spectra; our groundbased N-band spectral data as well as the Spitzer full spectral scans; the broad-band SED and the high spatial-resolution interferometric experiments with the VLTI. In this contribution we highlight the main results obtained so far and argue that all systems in our sample are indeed binaries, which are surrounded by dusty Keplerian circumbinary discs. The discs play a lead role in the evolution of the systems.

This paper reports the detection of a heavy element enriched RV Tauri variable with an abundance pattern that differs significantly from a standard s-process enriched object: V453 Oph. Based on optical high-resolution spectra, we determined that this object of low intrinsic metallicity ([Fe/H] = -2.2) has a mild, but significant, enrichment ([s/Fe] ~ +0.5) of heavy elements for which the distribution points to slow neutron capture nucleosynthesis. This result is strengthened by a comparative analysis to the non-enriched RV Tauri star DS Aqr ([s/Fe] = 0.0). Although V453 Oph is the first RV Tauri star showing a strong s-process signature, it is NOT accompanied by C enhancement, challenging our current nucleosynthetic models of post-AGB stars that predict a simultaneous enrichment in C and s-process elements. The low N abundance excludes CN cycling as being responsible for the low C abundance. We explore three different scenarios to explain the heavy element distribution in this evolved object: an enrichment of the parental cloud, an accretion scenario in which the chemical patterns were acquired by mass transfer in a binary system and an intrinsic enrichment by dredge-up.

Despite its mean apparent magnitude of m(v)=6.39, the evolutionary status of HD190390 (HR7671), a luminous F-type supergiant at high galactic latitude, is still not very clear, but in most papers a post-AGB classification is assumed. New observational material has been obtained with four different instruments and is presented here. An extensive abundance analysis based on high resolution, high signal-to-noise NTT+EMMI spectra confirms the metal deficiency of this object ([Fe/H]=-1.6), together with a high lithium content (log(Li)=1.9). A variability analysis based on Geneva photometry over seven years reveals beating with a period of +/-3000 days. It is, however, not clear whether this beating is caused by a stable triplet, or it is the consequence of small changes in the main frequency. More recent data obtained with the HIPPARCOS satellite and the Mercator telescope not only confirm the main period, but also support the presence of a second periodicity of 11 days, which was also found in the Geneva photometry. A conclusive evolutionary status of this object is not given, but alternative to the UU Her (i.e. post-AGB) status, a W Vir classification is discussed.

In this poster we present a detailed chemical analysis of the RV Tauri star of low intrinsic metallicity, V453 Oph ([Fe/H]=-2.2), which shows a mild but clear s-process surface overabundance. This result is strengthened by a relative analysis to the RV Tauri star DS Aqr of similar metal deficiency ([Fe/H]=-1.6), but without such s-process enrichment. A remarkable result is that the s-process enrichment of V453 Oph is not accompanied by a measurable C enhancement. To explain the surface abundances observed in V453 Oph, two nucleosynthesis models are considered. The first model assumes the partial mixing of protons during the radiative interpulse phase while the second scenario is based on the possible production of s-process elements within the flash-driven convective pulse only. Both models can give a satisfactory explanation for the s-process enrichment of V453 Oph, but not the simultaneous low C-abundance observed.

The objects are moderately metal deficient by [Fe/H]=-0.5 and -0.4 respectively, carbon-rich and, above all, heavily s-process enhanced with a [ls/Fe] of 1.8 and 1.5 respectively. Especially the spectrum of IRAS06530-0213 is dominated by transitions of s-process species, and therefore resembling the spectrum of IRAS05341+0852, the most s-process enriched object known so far. The two objects are chemically very similar to the 21micron objects discussed in Van Winckel & Reyniers (2000). A homogeneous comparison with the results of these objects reveals that the relation between the third dredge-up efficiency and the neutron nucleosynthesis efficiency found for the 21micron objects, is further strengthened. On the other hand, a detailed comparison with the predictions of the latest AGB models indicates that the observed spread in nucleosynthesis efficiency is certainly intrinsic, and proves that different C-13 pockets are needed for stars with comparable mass and metallicity to explain their abundances.

The abundances of these elements are of particular interest since they turn out to be powerful constraints for chemical evolutionary AGB models. Their high abundances indicate that, also in only moderately metal deficient AGB stars, production of lead is expected to be significant.

We present in this paper a study on the peculiar supergiant HD172481. Its spectral type (F2Ia), high galactic latitude (b=-10.37), circumstellar dust, high radial velocity and moderate metal deficiency ([Fe/H]=-0.55) confirm the post-AGB character of this object. A detailed chemical analysis shows slight but real s-process overabundances, however no CNO-enhancement was detected. Furthermore, the spectral energy distribution and the TiO bands in the red part of the spectrum reveal a red luminous companion. The luminosity ratio of the hot F type component and this cool M type companion L(F)/L(M) is derived for a reddening of E(B-V)=0.44 (L(F)/L(M)=1.8) and indicates that the companion must also be strongly evolved and probably evolving along the AGB. Neither our photometric data-set, nor our radial velocity monitoring show evidence for orbital variability which may indicate that the period is too large for direct binary interaction. Most interestingly, a strong lithium resonance line is detected, which yields an abundance of log(Li)=3.6. Several explanations for this large lithium content are explored.

We present in this paper a homogeneous photospheric abundance study, on the basis of the analysis of high resolution optical spectra, of six post-AGB objects displaying a 21mic circumstellar dust feature in their IR spectrum. The F-G spectral type of the 21mic stars make that a large range of elements including a wide variety of s-process elements, can be studied by their atomic lines. The high C/O-ratios together with the large overabundance of s-process elements prove that the objects are descendants of field carbon stars. We discuss in detail the s-process abundance distribution displayed by these 21mic stars and conclude that the 3rd dredge-up efficiency is closely related to the strength of the integrated neutron irradiation. The expected anti-correlation of the neutron irradiation with metallicity, on the other hand, contains a large intrinsic scatter. Finally we compare our results with other intrinsic and extrinsic s-process enriched objects and conclude that the post-AGB stars offer very useful complementary data to constrain the evolutionary models of AGB nucleosynthesis and dredge-up processes.

The observational data guiding the theoretical chemical evolutionary models of AGB stars come mainly from the analysis of intrinsic and extrinsic s-process enriched objects. The first are the stars of the M-MS-S-SC-C star sequence which is thought to reflect, at least partly, the evolution on the AGB of a single star towards an increasing C/O ratio. The second are all binaries with excess abundances acquired by mass-transfer from the companion which is now a white dwarf.
In this contribution we present a homogeneous abundance analysis of 21micron objects, which are carbon-rich probably single post-AGB stars. With their F to G spectral types a wide variety of chemical species can be studied quantitatively by using photospheric atomic lines. These objects are among the most s-process enriched objects known so far. We focus on the s-process distribution and the related neutron irradiation and compare the results with the enrichments observed in both intrinsic and extrinsic objects.
