In this paper, we investigate the influence of anti-symmetric tensor effects, which trigger the Lorentz symmetry breaking, on charged spherically symmetric black holes. Initially, we address an overview of the model, laying the groundwork for deriving solutions to black holes. With this, we analyze the horizons, critical orbits, and geodesics. We compute quasinormal modes with a particular emphasis on vectorial perturbations. In addition, we derive the Hawking temperature to perform the calculation of the remnant mass. Additionally, we estimate the lifetime of the black holes until they reach their final stage after the evaporation process. Furthermore, we explore the emission rate, and the deflection angle. Finally, we investigate the correlation between quasinormal modes and shadows.

In this work, we generalize the spacetime induced by a rotating cosmic string, taking into account anisotropic effects due the breaking of the Lorentz violation. In particular, we explore the energy levels of a massive spinless particle that is covariantly coupled to a uniform magnetic field aligned with the string. Subsequently, we introduce a scalar potential featuring both a Coulomb-type and a linear confining term and comprehensively solve the Klein-Gordon equations for each configuration. Finally, by imposing rigid-wall boundary conditions, we determine the Landau levels when the linear defect itself possesses magnetization. Notably, our analysis reveals the occurrence of Landau quantization even in the absence of gauge fields, provided the string possesses spin. Finally, the thermodynamic properties are computed as well in these scenarios.

We consider a (2+1)-dimensional modified electrodynamics endowed with terms that are either Lorentz-invariant or Lorentz-violating and involve an ever increasing number of derivatives. Our construction relies on U(1) gauge invariance and the Abelian Chern-Simons term poses the starting point. The structure of the nonminimal Standard-Model Extension (SME) in (3+1) spacetime dimensions serves as an inspiration for our pursuit. For elaborate studies and applications we particularly focus on the second term of the operator series in the general framework, which is the first contribution with additional derivatives. The latter forms the essential ingredient for several models of modified planar electrodynamics to be examined. The propagators of the models constitute the foundation for us deriving the physical propagating modes as well as for drawing conclusions on unitarity in the quantum regime. We are also interested in identifying parameter regions of sub- and superluminal mode propagation and determine classical solutions of the field equations for the planar models introduced. Moreover, a duality between an extended Chern-Simons theory and a subset of the fermion sector coefficients in the nonminimal SME is pointed out, as well. Finally, the integer quantum Hall effect is chosen as a testbed to demonstrate the applicability of our findings to real physical systems. Predictions on momentum- and direction-dependent corrections of the Hall resistivity are made at the level of effective field theory, which could be tested in experiments. Thus, the (2+1)-dimensional models proposed are potentially applicable to model electromagnetic phenomena in certain planar condensed-matter systems.

This study explores the impact of antisymmetric tensor effects on spherically symmetric black holes, investigating photon spheres, shadows, emission rate and quasinormal frequencies in relation to a parameter which triggers the Lorentz symmetry breaking. We examine these configurations without and with the presence of a cosmological constant. In the first scenario, the Lorentz violation parameter, denoted as $λ$, plays a pivotal role in reducing both the photon sphere and the shadow radius, while also leading to a dam** effect on quasinormal frequencies. Conversely, in the second scenario, as the values of the cosmological constant ($Λ$) increase, we observe an expansion in the shadow radius. Also, we provide the constraints of the shadows based on the analysis observational data obtained from the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) focusing on Sagittarius $A^{*}$ shadow images. Additionally, with the increasing $Λ$, the associated gravitational wave frequencies exhibit reduced dam** modes.

This paper focuses on how the production and polarization of gravitational waves are affected by spontaneous Lorentz symmetry breaking, which is driven by a self-interacting vector field. Specifically, we examine the impact of a smooth quadratic potential and a non-minimal coupling, discussing the constraints and causality features of the linearized Einstein equation. To analyze the polarization states of a plane wave, we consider a fixed vacuum expectation value (VEV) of the vector field. Remarkably, we verify that a space-like background vector field modifies the polarization plane and introduces a longitudinal degree of freedom. In order to investigate the Lorentz violation effect on the quadrupole formula, we use the modified Green function. Finally, we show that the space-like component of the background field leads to a third-order time derivative of the quadrupole moment, and the bounds for the Lorentz-breaking coefficients are estimated as well.

This paper explores the relativistic behavior of spin--half particles possessing an Electric Dipole Moment (EDM) in a curved spacetime background induced by a spiral dislocation. A thorough review of the mathematical formulation of the Dirac spinor in the framework of quantum field theory sets the foundation for our investigation. By deriving the action that governs the interaction between the spinor field, the background spacetime, and an external electric field, we establish a framework to study the dynamics of the system. Solving the resulting wave equation reveals a set of coupled equations for the radial components of the Dirac spinor, which give rise to a modified energy spectrum attributed to the EDM. To validate our findings, we apply them to the geometric phase and thermodynamics.

This work is devoted to study the thermodynamic behavior of photon--like particles within the \textit{rainbow} gravity formalism. To to do this, we chose two particular ansatzs to accomplish our calculations. First, we consider a dispersion relation which avoids UV divergences, getting a positive effective cosmological constant. We provide \textit{numerical} analysis for the thermodynamic functions of the system and bounds are estimated. Furthermore, a phase transition is also expected for this model. Second, we consider a dispersion relation employed in the context of \textit{Gamma Ray Bursts}. Remarkably, for this latter case, the thermodynamic properties are calculated in an \textit{analytical} manner and they turn out to depend on the harmonic series $H_{n}$, gamma $Γ(z)$, polygamma $ψ_{n}(z)$ and zeta Riemann functions $ζ(z)$.

In particular, we investigate how the thermodynamic quantities are affected by the Ellis wormhole geometry, considering three different regions to our study: asymptotically far, close to the throat, and at the throat. The thermodynamic quantities turn out to depend strongly on parameter that controls the wormhole throat radius. By varying it, there exist an expressive modification in the thermodynamic state quantities, exhibiting both usual matter and dark energy--like behaviors. Finally, the interactions are regarded to the energy density and it seems to indicate that it "cures" the dark energy--like features.

We present new results for classical-particle propagation subject to Lorentz violation. Our analysis is dedicated to spin-nondegenerate operators of arbitrary mass dimension provided by the fermion sector of the Standard-Model Extension. In particular, classical Lagrangians are obtained for the operators $\hat{b}_μ$ and $\hat{H}_{μν}$ as perturbative expansions in Lorentz violation. The functional dependence of the higher-order contributions in the background fields is found to be quite peculiar, which is probably attributed to particle spin playing an essential role for these cases. This paper closes one of the last gaps in understanding classical-particle propagation in the presence of Lorentz violation. Lagrangians of the kind presented will turn out to be valuable for describing particle propagation in curved backgrounds with diffeomorphism invariance and/or local Lorentz symmetry explicitly violated.

We start with the simplest situation, namely, a spinless gas treated within the canonical ensemble framework. As a next step, we consider \textit{noninteracting} gases (fermions and bosons) with the usage of the grand canonical ensemble description. For this case, the calculations are performed numerically. We also observe that our results may possibly be applied to \textit{Bose-Einstein condensate} and to \textit{helium dimer}. Moreover, the bosonic sector, independently of the geometry, acquires entropy and internal energy greater than for the fermionic case. Finally, we also devise a model allowing us to perform analytically the calculations in the case of \textit{interacting} quantum gases, and, afterwards, we apply it to a cubical box.

Besides, we examine the implications of $\left( \hat{k}_{a}\right) ^{κ}$ and $\left( \hat{k}_{c}\right) ^{κξ}$ operators for the boson case as well. For doing so, we regard the grand canonical ensemble seeking the so-called partition function, which suffices to provide analytically the calculations of interest, i.e., mean particle number, entropy, mean total energy and pressure. Furthermore, in low temperature regime, such quantities converge until reaching a similar behavior being in contrast with what is shown in high temperature regime, which brings out the differentiation of their effects. In addition, particle number, entropy and energy exhibit an extensive characteristic even in the presence of Lorentz violation. Finally, for peseudovector and tensor operators, we notice a remarkable feature due to the breaking process of spin degeneracy: the system turns out to have greater energy and particle number for the spin-down particles in comparison with spin-up ones.

The current paper is a technical work that is focused on Lorentz violation for Dirac fermions as well as neutrinos, described within the nonminimal Standard-Model Extension. We intend to derive two theoretical results. The first is the full propagator of the single-fermion Dirac theory modified by Lorentz violation. The second is the dispersion equation for a theory of $N$ neutrino flavors that enables the description of both Dirac and Majorana neutrinos. As the matrix structure of the neutrino field operator is very involved for generic $N$, we will use sophisticated methods of linear algebra to achieve our objectives. Our main finding is that the neutrino dispersion equation has the same structure in terms of Lorentz-violating operators as that of a modified single-fermion Dirac theory. The results will be valuable for phenomenological studies of Lorentz-violating Dirac fermions and neutrinos.

Furthermore, the modified dispersion relations are computed at leading order in Lorentz violation. We then remove the unphysical degrees of freedom from the electromagnetic Green's function that are present due to gauge invariance. The resulting object is used to construct the general solutions of the uncoupled field equations with external inhomogeneities present. This modified planar electrodynamics may be valuable to describe electromagnetic phenomena in two-dimensional condensed-matter systems. In this paper, we derive the general leading-order classical Lagrangian covering all fermion operators of the nonminimal Standard-Model Extension (SME). Such a Lagrangian is considered to be the point-particle analog of the effective field theory description of Lorentz violation that is provided by the SME. First of all, a suitable Ansatz is made for the Lagrangian of the spin-degenerate operators $\hat{a}$, $\hat{c}$, $\hat{e}$, and $\hat{f}$ at leading order in Lorentz violation. The latter is shown to satisfy the set of five nonlinear equations that govern the map from the field theory to the classical description. After doing so, the second step is to propose results for the spin-nondegenerate operators $\hat{b}$, $\hat{d}$, $\hat{H}$, and $\hat{g}$. Although these are more involved than the Lagrangians for the spin-degenerate ones, an analytical proof of their validity is viable, nevertheless. The final step is to combine both findings to produce a generic Lagrangian for the complete set of Lorentz-violating operators that is consistent with the known minimal and nonminimal Lagrangians found in the literature so far. The outcome reveals the leading-order structure of the classical SME analog. It can be of use for both phenomenological studies of classical bodies in gravitational fields and conceptual work on explicit Lorentz violation in gravity. Furthermore, there may be a possible connection to Finsler geometry.

The Standard-Model Extension (SME) parameterizes all possible Lorentz-violating contributions to the Standard Model and General Relativity. It can be considered as an effective framework to describe possible quantum-gravity effects for energies much below the Planck energy. In the current paper, the spin-nondegenerate operators of the SME fermion sector are the focus. The propagators, energies, and solutions to the modified Dirac equation are obtained for several families of coefficients including nonminimal ones. The particle energies and spinors are computed at first order in Lorentz violation and, with the optical theorem, they are shown to be consistent with the propagators. The optical theorem is then also used to derive the matrices formed from a spinor and its Dirac conjugate at all orders in Lorentz violation. The results are the first explicit ones derived for the spin-nondegenerate operators. They will prove helpful for future phenomenological calculations in the SME that rely on the footing of quantum field theory.
