Observation of a resonant structure in $e^{+}e^{-} \to ωη$ and another in $e^{+}e^{-} \to ωπ^{0}$ at center-of-mass energies between 2.00 and 3.08 GeV

Abstract: Born cross sections for the processes $e^+e^- \to ωη$ and $e^+e^- \to ωπ^{0}$ have been determined for center-of-mass energies between 2.00 and 3.08 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The results obtained in this work are consistent with previous measurements but with improved precision. Two resonant structures are observed. In the $e^{+}e^{-} \to ωη$ cross sections, a resonance… ▽ More Born cross sections for the processes $e^+e^- \to ωη$ and $e^+e^- \to ωπ^{0}$ have been determined for center-of-mass energies between 2.00 and 3.08 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. In the $e^{+}e^{-} \to ωη$ cross sections, a resonance with a mass of $(2179 \pm 21 \pm 3)\text{MeV}/c^2$ and a width of $(89 \pm 28 \pm 5)\text{MeV}$ is observed with a significance of 6.1$σ$. Its properties are consistent with the $φ(2170)$. In the $e^{+}e^{-} \toωπ^{0}$ cross sections, a resonance denoted $Y(2040)$ is observed with a significance of more than 10$σ$. Its mass and width are determined to be $(2034 \pm 13 \pm 9)\text{MeV}/c^2$ and $(234 \pm 30 \pm 25)\text{MeV}$, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. △ Less

In this erratum we report a corrected evaluation of the statistical errors in terms of a fully propagated covariance matrix. The statistical significances are $12.9σ$ and $7.7 σ$, respectively. The precision of $\mathcal{B}(D^0 \to ωπ^+π^-)$ is improved by a factor of 2.1 over the CLEO measurement, and $\mathcal{B}(D^+ \to ωπ^+π^0)$ is measured for the first time. No significant signal of $\mathcal{B}(D^0 \to ωπ^0π^0)$ is observed, and the upper limit on the branching fraction is $\mathcal{B}(D^0 \to ωπ^0π^0) < 1.10 \times 10^{-3}$ at the $90\%$ confidence level. Abstract: From $1310.6\times10^{6}$ $J/ψ$ and $448.1\times10^{6}$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII experiment, we report the first observation of $Σ^{+}$ and $\barΣ^{-}$ spin polarization in $e^+e^-\rightarrow J/ψ(ψ(3686)) \rightarrow Σ^{+} \barΣ^{-}$ decays. Three structures are observed by analyzing the lineshape of the measured cross sections, and a maximum-likelihood fit including three resonances is performed by assuming the lowest lying structure is the $ψ(4040)$. For the other resonances, we obtain masses of $(4218.7 \pm 4.0 \pm 2.5)$ and $(4380.4 \pm 14.2 \pm 1.8)$ MeV/c$^{2}$ with corresponding widths of $(82.5 \pm 5.9 \pm 0.5)$ and $(147.0 \pm 63.0 \pm 25.8)$ MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones systematic. The measured resonant parameters are consistent with those of the $Y(4220)$ and $Y(4360)$ from pr evious measurements of different final states. Its resonance parameters are measured to be $M = 2341.6 \pm 6.5\text{(stat.)} \pm 5.7\text{(syst.)}$~MeV/$c^{2}$ and $Γ= 117 \pm 10 \text{(stat.)} \pm 8 \text{(syst.)}$~MeV. The product branching fractions for $J/ψ\to γX(2370), X(2370) \to K^{+} K^{-}η'$ and $J/ψ\to γX(2370), X(2370) \to K_{S}^{0} K_{S}^{0}η'$ are determined to be $(1.79 \pm 0.23 \text{(stat.)} \pm 0.65 \text{(syst.)}) \times 10^{-5}$ and $(1.18 \pm 0.32\ text{(stat.)} \pm 0.39 \text{(syst.)}) \times 10^{-5}$, respectively. No evident signal for the $X(2120)$ is observed in the $K\bar{K}η'$ invariant-mass distribution. The upper limits for the product branching fractions of $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to γX(2120)\toγK^{+} K^{-} η')$ and $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\toγX(2120)\toγK_{S}^{0} K_{S}^{0} η')$ are determined to be $1.49\times10^{-5}$ and $6.38\times10^{-6}$ at the 90% confidence level, respectively. △ Less

Abstract: The cross section of the process $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-π^0$ is measured with a precision of 1.6% to 25% in the energy range between $0.7$ and 3.0 GeV using the Initial State Radiation method. A data set with an integrated luminosity of $2.93$fb$^{-1}$ taken at the center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=3.773$GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider is used. Abstract: Using a sample of $(448.1\pm2.9)\times10^6$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform the first partial wave analysis of $ψ(3686)\rightarrow K^+K^-η$. In addition to the well established states, $φ(1020)$, $φ(1680)$, and $K_3^*(1780)$, contributions from $X(1750)$, $ρ(2150)$, $ρ_3(2250)$, and $K^*_2(1980)$ are also observed. This renaissance has been driven in part by the discovery of a plethora of charmonium-like $XYZ$ states at BESIII and $B$ factories, and the observation of an intriguing proton-antiproton threshold enhancement and the possibly related $X(1835)$ meson state at BESIII, as well as the thre… ▽ More There has recently been a dramatic renewal of interest in the subjects of hadron spectroscopy and charm physics. We present a detailed survey of the important topics in tau-charm physics and hadron physics that can be further explored at BESIII over the remaining lifetime of BEPCII operation. Abstract: The SU(3)-flavor violating decay $J/ψ\toΞ(1530)^{-}\barΞ^{+}+c.c.$ is studied using $(1310.6\pm7.0)\times 10^{6} ~J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII and the branching fraction is measured to be ${\cal{B}}(J/ψ\toΞ(1530)^{-}\barΞ^{+}+c.c.)=(3.17\pm0.02_{\rm stat.}\pm0.08_{\rm syst.})\times10^{-4}$. This is consistent with previous measurements with an improved precision. The $D_{1}(2420)^+$ is observed in the $D^{+} π^{+} π^{-}$ mass spectrum. The mass and width of the $D_{1}(2420)^+$ are measured to be $(2427.2\pm 1.0_{\rm stat.}\pm 1.2_{\rm syst.}) \rm{MeV}/c^2$ and $(23.2\pm 2.3_{\rm stat.} \pm2.3_{\rm syst.}) \rm{MeV}$, respectively. The first errors are statistical and the second ones are systematic. Observation of the leptonic decay $D^+ \to τ^+ ν_τ$

Abstract: We report the first observation of $D^+\toτ^+ν_τ$ with a significance of $5.1σ$. We measure ${\cal B}(D^+\toτ^+ν_τ) = (1.20\pm0.24_{\text{stat.}}\pm0.12_{\text{syst.}})\times10^{-3}$. Taking the world average ${\cal B}(D^+\toμ^+ν_μ) = (3.74\pm0.17)\times10^{-4}$, we obtain $R_{τ/μ} =Γ(D^+\toτ^+ν_τ)/Γ(D^+\toμ^+ν_μ) = 3.21\pm0.64_{\text{stat.}}\pm0.43_{\text{syst.}}$, which is consistent with the Standard Model expectation of lepton flavor universality. Using external inputs, our results give values for the $D^+$ decay constant $f_{D^+}$ and the CKM matrix element $|V_{cd}|$ that are consistent with, but less precise than, other determinations. △ Less

Abstract: By analyzing 2.93 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data taken at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt s=$ 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we determine the branching fractions of the inclusive decays $D^+\toφX$ and $D^0\toφX$ to be $(1.135\pm0.034\pm0.031)\%$ and $(1.091\pm0.027\pm0.035)\%$, respectively, where $X$ denotes any possible particle combination. No significant signal is observed of the decay $D^+\toφ{K^+}$ and the upper limit of its branching fraction is set for the first time, to be $2.1\times10^{-5}$ at the $90\%$ confidence level. The ratio of ${\cal B}(D^0\toφπ^0)$ to $\cal B(D^+\toφπ^+)$ is calculated to be $(20.49\pm0.50\pm0.45)\%$, which is consistent with the theoretical prediction based on isospin symmetry between these two decay modes. △ Less

Evidence for the decay $\zcpm\to\rhopm\etac$ is reported with a statistical significance of $3.9σ$ with various systematic uncertainties taken into account at $\sqrt{s} = 4.226$ GeV, and the Born cross section times branching fraction $σ^{B}(\EE\to \pimp\zcpm)\times \BR(\zcpm\to\rhopm\etac)$ is measured to be $(48 \pm 11 \pm 11)\,\rm{pb}$. The $\zcpm\to \rhopm\etac$ signal is not significant at the other center-of-mass energies and the corresponding upper limits are determined. In addition, no significant signal is observed in a search for $\zcppm\to ρ^{\pm}\etac$ with the same data samples. The ratios $R_{\zc}=\BR(\zcpm\to ρ^{\pm} \etac)/\BR(\zcpm\to π^{\pm} \jpsi)$ and $R_{\zcp}=\BR(\zcppm\to ρ^{\pm} \etac)/\BR(\zcppm\to π^{\pm} \hc)$ are obtained and used to discriminate between different theoretical interpretations of the $\zcpm$ and $\zcppm$. △ Less

Abstract: The process of $e^+e^- \rightarrow p\bar{p}$ is studied at 22 center-of-mass energy points ($\sqrt{s}$) from 2.00 to 3.08 GeV, exploiting 688.5~pb$^{-1}$ of data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. The Born cross section~($σ_{p\bar{p}}$) of $e^+e^- \rightarrow p\bar{p}$ is measured with the energy-scan technique and it is found to be consistent with previously publ… ▽ More The process of $e^+e^- \rightarrow p\bar{p}$ is studied at 22 center-of-mass energy points ($\sqrt{s}$) from 2.00 to 3.08 GeV, exploiting 688.5~pb$^{-1}$ of data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. The Born cross section~($σ_{p\bar{p}}$) of $e^+e^- \rightarrow p\bar{p}$ is measured with the energy-scan technique and it is found to be consistent with previously published data, but with much improved accuracy. In addition, the electromagnetic form-factor ratio ($|G_{E}/G_{M}|$) and the value of the effective ($|G_{\rm{eff}}|$), electric ($|G_E|$) and magnetic ($|G_M|$) form factors are measured by studying the helicity angle of the proton at 16 center-of-mass energy points. $|G_{E}/G_{M}|$ and $|G_M|$ are determined with high accuracy, providing uncertainties comparable to data in the space-like region, and $|G_E|$ is measured for the first time. We reach unprecedented accuracy, and precision results in the time-like region provide information to improve our understanding of the proton inner structure and to test theoretical models which depend on non-perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics. △ Less

Measurements of Weak Decay Asymmetries of $Λ_c^+\to pK_S^0$, $Λπ^+$, $Σ^+π^0$, and $Σ^0π^+$

In comparison with previous results, the measurements for the $Λπ^+$ and $Σ^+π^0$ modes are consistent but with improved precision, while the parameters for the $pK_S^0$ and $Σ^0π^+$ modes are measured for the first time. △ Less

Partial-wave analysis of $J/ψ\to K^+K^-π^0$

Abstract: A partial-wave analysis of the decay $J/ψ\to K^+K^-π^0$ has been made using $(223.7\pm1.4)\times 10^{6}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector in 2009. The analysis, which is performed within the isobar-model approach, reveals contributions from $K^*_2(1430)^\pm$, $K^*_2(1980)^\pm$ and $K^*_4(2045)^\pm$ decaying to $K^\pmπ^0$. Complete measurement of $Λ$ electromagnetic form factors

A data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 66.9 pb$^{-1}$, was collected with the BESIII detector for this purpose. A multi-dimensional analysis with a complete decomposition of the spin structure of the reaction enables a determination of the modulus of the ratio $R=|G_E/G_M|$ and, for the first time for any baryon, the relative phase $ΔΦ=Φ_E-Φ_M$. The resulting values are obtained using the recent and most precise measured value of the asymmetry parameter $α_Λ$ = $0.750~\pm~0.010$ to be $R~=~0.96\pm0.14~(\rm stat.)\pm~0.02~(\rm sys.)$ and $ΔΦ=37^{\mathrm{o}}\pm~12^{\mathrm{o}}~(\rm stat.)\pm~6^{\mathrm{o}}~(\rm sys.)$, respectively. In addition, the cross section is measured with unprecedented precision to be $σ= 118.7~\pm~5.3~(\rm stat.)\pm~5.1~(\rm sys.)$ pb, which corresponds to an effective form factor of $|G|=0.123~\pm~0.003~(\rm stat.)\pm~0.003~(\rm sys.)$. The contribution from two-photon exchange is found to be negligible. Our result enables the first complete determination of baryon time-like electromagnetic form factors. △ Less

For the first time in this final state, a $ψ(3770)$ signal is seen in the $D\bar{D}$ invariant mass spectrum, with a statistical significance of $5.2σ$ at $\sqrt{s} = 4.42$ GeV. There is also evidence for this resonance at $\sqrt{s}$ = 4.26 and 4.36 GeV with statistical significance of 3.2$σ$ and 3.3$σ$, respectively. In addition, the Born cross section of $e^{+}e^{-}\to π^{+}π^{-}ψ(3770)$ is measured. The proposed heavy-quark-spin-symmetry partner of the $X(3872)$, the state $X_{2}(4013)$, is also searched for in the $D\bar{D}$ invariant mass spectra. No obvious signal is found. The upper limit of the Born cross section of the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to ρ^{0}X_{2}(4013)$ combined with the branching fraction is measured. Also, the processes $e^{+}e^{-}\to D_{1}(2420)\bar{D} + c.c.$ are investigated. The neutral mode with $D_{1}(2420)^{0}\to D^{0}π^{+}π^{-}$ is reported with statistical significance of 7.4$σ$ at $\sqrt{s} = 4.42$ GeV for the first time, and evidence with statistical significance of 3.2$σ$ and 3.3$σ$ at $\sqrt{s}$ = 4.36 and 4.60 GeV is seen, respectively. No evident signal for the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to D_{1}(2420)^{0}\bar{D}^{0} + c.c., D_{1}(2420)^{0}\to D^{*+}π^{-}$ is reported. Evidence for $e^{+}e^{-}\to D_{1}(2420)^{+}D^{-} +~c.c., D_{1}(2420)^{+}\to D^{+}π^{+}π^{-}$ is reported with statistical significance of 3.1$σ$ and 3.0$σ$ at $\sqrt{s}$ = 4.36 and 4.42 GeV, respectively. △ Less
