Fronthaul quantization causes a significant distortion in cell-free massive MIMO networks. Due to the limited capacity of fronthaul links, information exchange among access points (APs) must be quantized significantly. Furthermore, the complexity of the multiplication operation in the base-band processing unit increases with the number of bits of the operands. Thus, quantizing the APs' signal vector reduces the complexity of signal estimation in the base-band processing unit. Most recent works consider the direct quantization of the received signal vectors at each AP without any pre-processing. However, the signal vectors received at different APs are correlated mutually (inter-AP correlation) and also have correlated dimensions (intra-AP correlation). Hence, cooperative quantization of APs fronthaul can help to efficiently use the quantization bits at each AP and further reduce the distortion imposed on the quantized vector at the APs. This paper considers a daisy chain fronthaul and three different processing sequences at each AP. We show that 1) de-correlating the received signal vector at each AP from the corresponding vectors of the previous APs (inter-AP de-correlation) and 2) de-correlating the dimensions of the received signal vector at each AP (intra-AP de-correlation) before quantization helps to use the quantization bits at each AP more efficiently than directly quantizing the received signal vector without any pre-processing and consequently, improves the bit error rate (BER) and normalized mean square error (NMSE) of users signal estimation.

Cell-Free Massive MIMO (CF mMIMO) has emerged as a potential enabler for future networks. It has been shown that these networks are much more energy-efficient than classical cellular systems when they are serving users at peak capacity. However, these CF mMIMO networks are designed for peak traffic loads, and when this is not the case, they are significantly over-dimensioned and not at all energy efficient. To this end, Adaptive Access Point (AP) ON/OFF Switching (ASO) strategies have been developed to save energy when the network is not at peak traffic loads by putting unnecessary APs to sleep. Unfortunately, the existing strategies rely on measuring channel state information between every user and every access point, resulting in significant measurement energy consumption overheads. Furthermore, the current state-of-art approach has a computational complexity that scales exponentially with the number of APs. In this work, we present a novel convex feasibility testing method that allows checking per-user Quality-of-Service (QoS) requirements without necessarily considering all possible access point activations. We then propose an iterative algorithm for activating access points until all users' requirements are fulfilled. We show that our method has comparable performance to the optimal solution whilst avoiding solving costly mixed-integer problems and measuring channel state information on only a limited subset of APs.

Cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) is an emerging technology that will reshape the architecture of next-generation networks. This paper considers the sequential fronthaul, whereby the access points (APs) are connected in a daisy chain topology with multiple sequential processing stages. With this sequential processing in the uplink, each AP refines users' signal estimates received from the previous AP based on its own local received signal vector. While this processing architecture has been shown to achieve the same performance as centralized processing, the impact of the limited memory capacity at the APs on the store and forward processing architecture is yet to be analyzed. Thus, we model the received signal vector compression using rate-distortion theory to demonstrate the effect of limited memory capacity on the optimal number of APs in the daisy chain fronthaul. Without this memory constraint, more geographically distributed antennas alleviate the adverse effect of large-scale fading on the signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio (SINR). However, we show that in case of limited memory capacity at each AP, the memory capacity to store the received signal vectors at the final AP of this fronthaul becomes a limiting factor. In other words, we show that when deciding on the number of APs to distribute the antennas, there is an inherent trade-off between more macro-diversity and compression noise power on the stored signal vectors at the APs. Hence, the available memory capacity at the APs significantly influences the optimal number of APs in the fronthaul.

Cell-free (CF) network architectures are emerging, combining dense deployments with extreme flexibility in allocating resources to users. In parallel, the Open Radio Access Networks (O-RAN) paradigm is transforming RAN towards an open, intelligent, virtualized, and fully interoperable architecture. This paradigm brings the needed flexibility and intelligent control opportunities for CF networking. In this paper, we document the current O-RAN terminology and contrast it with some common CF processing approaches. We then discuss the main O-RAN innovations and research challenges that remain to be solved.

Cell-free Massive MIMO has emerged as a promising solution for next-generation radio networks. Particularly the user-centric variant where users are served by a limited subset of access points, a so-called cluster, has garnered significant attention within the research community. Despite numerous proposed physical layer solutions, managing AP clusters in case of user mobility remains challenging. In this study, we first present a realistic method for modeling the temporal evolution of the channel in cell-free Massive MIMO. Next, we develop two clustering and handover strategies: 1) a fixed clustering strategy that computes the ideal cluster when a cluster handover threshold is exceeded and 2) an opportunistic strategy that opportunistically adds serving APs as the user moves. Moreover, we establish a connection between our findings and O-RAN, an emerging network architecture that offers open interfaces and network-wide control capabilities, thus, facilitating practical implementation of our research.

Crowdsourcing has been widely used recently as an alternative to traditional annotations that is costly and usually done by experts. However, crowdsourcing tasks are not interesting by themselves, therefore, combining tasks with game will increase both participants motivation and engagement. In this paper, we have proposed a gamified crowdsourcing platform called TeleCrowd based on Telegram Messenger to use its social power as a base platform and facilitator for accomplishing crowdsourcing projects. Furthermore, to evaluate the performance of the proposed platform, we ran an experimental crowdsourcing project consisting of 500 informal Persian sentences in which participants were supposed to provide candidates that were the formal equivalent of sentences or qualify other candidates by upvoting or downvoting them. In this study, 2700 candidates and 21000 votes were submitted by the participants and a parallel dataset using candidates with the highest points, sum of their upvotes and downvotes, as the best candidates was built. As the evaluation, BLEU score of 0.54 was achieved on the collected dataset which shows that our proposed platform can be used to create large corpora. Also, this platform is highly efficient in terms of time period and cost price in comparison with other related works, because the whole duration of the project was 28 days at a cost of 40 dollars.

A sentiment analysis system employs these data to find the attitude of social media users towards certain entities in a given document. In this paper we propose a sentiment analysis method for Persian text using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), a feedforward Artificial Neural Network, that categorize sentences into two and five classes (considering their intensity) by applying a layer of convolution over input data through different filters. We evaluated the method on three different datasets of Persian social media texts using Area under Curve metric. The final results show the advantage of using CNN over earlier attempts at develo** traditional machine learning methods for Persian texts sentiment classification especially for short texts.

In recent years, with the growing number of online social networks, these networks have become one of the best markets for advertising and commerce, so studying these networks is very important. Forecasting new edges in online social networks can give us a better understanding of the growth of these networks. There have been many studies of link prediction in the field of engineering and humanities. Scientists attribute the existence of a new relationship between two individuals for two reasons: 1) Proximity to the graph (structure) 2) Similar properties of the two individuals (Homophile law). However, studying the impact of the two approaches working together to create new edges remains an open problem. Similarity metrics can also be divided into two categories; Neighborhood-based and path-based. So far, the above two theoretical approaches (proximity and homophile) have not been found together in the neighborhood-based metrics. In this paper, we first attempt to provide a solution to determine importance of the proximity to the graph and similar features in the connectivity of the graphs. Then obtained weights are assigned to both proximity and homophile. Then the best similarity metric in each approach are obtained. Finally, the selected metric of homophily similarity and structural similarity are combined with the obtained weights. The results of this study were evaluated on two datasets; Zanjan University Graduate School of Social Sciences and Pokec online Social Network. The first data set was collected for this study and then the questionnaires and data collection methods were filled out. Since this dataset is one of the few Iranian datasets that has been compiled with its users' specifications, it can be of great value. In this paper, we have been able to increase the accuracy of Neighborhood-based similarity metric by using two proximity in graph and homophily approaches.

This paper reports the first spin tune measurement at high energies (24 GeV and 255 GeV) with a driven coherent spin motion. To maintain polarization in a polarized proton collider, it is important to know the spin tune of the polarized proton beam, which is defined as the number of full spin precessions per revolution. A nine-magnet spin flipper has demonstrated high spin-flip efficiency in the presence of two Siberian snakes [1]. The spin flipper drives a spin resonance with a given frequency (or tune) and strength. When the drive tune is close to the spin tune, the proton spin direction is not vertical anymore, but precesses around the vertical direction. By measuring the precession frequency of the horizontal component the spin tune can be precisely measured. A driven coherent spin motion and fast turn-by-turn polarization measurement are keys to the measurement. The vertical spin direction is restored after turning the spin flipper off and the polarization value is not affected by the measurement. The fact that this manipulation preserves the polarization makes it possible to measure the spin tune during operation of a high energy accelerator.

Some networked systems can be better modelled by multilayer structure where the individual nodes develop relationships in multiple layers. Multilayer networks with similar nodes across layers are also known as multiplex networks. This manuscript proposes a novel framework for predicting forthcoming or missing links in multiplex networks. The link prediction problem in multiplex networks is how to predict links in one of the layers, taking into account the structural information of other layers. The proposed link prediction framework is based on interlayer similarity and proximity-based features extracted from the layer for which the link prediction is considered. To this end, commonly used proximity-based features such as Adamic-Adar and Jaccard Coefficient are considered. These features that have been originally proposed to predict missing links in monolayer networks, do not require learning, and thus are simple to compute. The proposed method introduces a systematic approach to take into account interlayer similarity for the link prediction purpose. Experimental results on both synthetic and real multiplex networks reveal the effectiveness of the proposed method and show its superior performance than state-of-the-art algorithms proposed for the link prediction problem in multiplex networks.

Opportunistic networks are delay-tolerant networks which enable network connectivity while there is limited access to network infrastructure, such as natural disaster happenings. Since opportunistic networks use store-carry-forward mechanism to deliver data, routing algorithms have significant impact on successful data delivery. Due to the Operating System restrictions, creating an opportunistic network using ad-hoc model is not feasible on smartphones and to the best of our knowledge, none of common zero-knowledge routing algorithms have been proposed for a non-ad hoc communication model. In this paper, we propose HRSON, a zero-knowledge routing algorithm in a self-organizing approach that an opportunistic infrastructure-based WiFi network is built to use smartphones. We have deployed our approach in simulated scenario of working days of people, whom are using smartphones, on Helsinki map comparing to common zero-knowledge routing algorithms. The results show that our solution increases the average delivery-rate and lowers delay and commutation overhead.

Weibull distribution has received a wide range of applications in engineering and science. The utility and usefulness of an estimator is highly subject to the field of practitioner's study. In practice users looking for their desired estimator under different setting of parameters and sample sizes. In this paper we focus on two topics. Firstly, we propose $U$-statistics for the Weibull distribution parameters. The consistency and asymptotically normality of the introduced $U$-statistics are proved theoretically and by simulations. Several of methods have been proposed for estimating the parameters of Weibull distribution in the literature. These methods include: the generalized least square type 1, the generalized least square type 2, the $L$-moments, the Logarithmic moments, the maximum likelihood estimation, the method of moments, the percentile method, the weighted least square, and weighted maximum likelihood estimation. Secondary, due to lack of a comprehensive comparison between the Weibull distribution parameters estimators, a comprehensive comparison study is made between our proposed $U$-statistics and above nine estimators. Based on simulations, it turns out that the our proposed $U$-statistics show the best performance in terms of bias for estimating the shape and scale parameters when the sample size is large.

In this paper, we present a detailed discussion of the integrators in the spin tracking code gpuSpinTrack. We have implemented orbital integrators based on drift-kick, bend-kick, and matrix-kick splits. On top of the orbital integrators, we have implemented various integrators for the spin motion. These integrators use quaternions and Romberg quadratures to accelerate both the computation and the convergence of spin rotations. We evaluate their performance and accuracy in quantitative detail for individual elements as well as for the entire RHIC lattice. We exploit the inherently data-parallel nature of spin tracking to accelerate our algorithms on graphics processing units.
