This paper is concerned with the Wiener-Hopf indices of unimodular rational matrix functions on the imaginary axis. These indices play a role in the Fredholm theory for Wiener-Hopf integral operators. Our main result gives formulas for the Wiener-Hopf indices in terms of the matrices appearing in realizations of the factors in a Douglas-Shapiro-Shields factorization of the unimodular function. Two approaches to this problem are presented: one direct approach using operator theoretic methods, and a second approach using the Cayley transform which allows to use results for an analogous problem regarding unimodular functions on the unit circle and corresponding Toeplitz operators.

Virtual engines can generate dense depth maps for various synthetic scenes, making them invaluable for training depth estimation models. However, discrepancies between synthetic and real-world colors pose significant challenges for depth estimation in real-world scenes, especially in complex and uncertain environments encountered in unsupervised monocular depth estimation tasks. To address this issue, we propose Back2Color, a framework that predicts realistic colors from depth using a model trained on real-world data, thus transforming synthetic colors into their real-world counterparts. Additionally, we introduce the Syn-Real CutMix method for joint training with both real-world unsupervised and synthetic supervised depth samples, enhancing monocular depth estimation performance in real-world scenes. Furthermore, to mitigate the impact of non-rigid motions on depth estimation, we present an auto-learning uncertainty temporal-spatial fusion method (Auto-UTSF), which leverages the strengths of unsupervised learning in both temporal and spatial dimensions. We also designed VADepth, based on the Vision Attention Network, which offers lower computational complexity and higher accuracy than transformers. Our Back2Color framework achieves state-of-the-art performance on the Kitti dataset, as evidenced by improvements in performance metrics and the production of fine-grained details. This is particularly evident on more challenging datasets such as Cityscapes for unsupervised depth estimation.

The unique artistic style is crucial to artists' occupational competitiveness, yet prevailing Art Commission Platforms rarely support style-based retrieval. Meanwhile, the fast-growing generative AI techniques aggravate artists' concerns about releasing personal artworks to public platforms. To achieve artistic style-based retrieval without exposing personal artworks, we propose FedStyle, a style-based federated learning crowdsourcing framework. It allows artists to train local style models and share model parameters rather than artworks for collaboration. However, most artists possess a unique artistic style, resulting in severe model drift among them. FedStyle addresses such extreme data heterogeneity by having artists learn their abstract style representations and align with the server, rather than merely aggregating model parameters lacking semantics. Besides, we introduce contrastive learning to meticulously construct the style representation space, pulling artworks with similar styles closer and kee** different ones apart in the embedding space. Extensive experiments on the proposed datasets demonstrate the superiority of FedStyle.

The field of human settlement construction encompasses a range of spatial designs and management tasks, including urban planning and landscape architecture design. These tasks involve a plethora of instructions and descriptions presented in natural language, which are essential for understanding design requirements and producing effective design solutions. Recent research has sought to integrate natural language processing (NLP) and generative artificial intelligence (AI) into human settlement construction tasks. Due to the efficient processing and analysis capabilities of AI with data, significant successes have been achieved in design within this domain. However, this task still faces several fundamental challenges. The semantic information involved includes complex spatial details, diverse data source formats, high sensitivity to regional culture, and demanding requirements for innovation and rigor in work scenarios. These factors lead to limitations when applying general generative AI in this field, further exacerbated by a lack of high-quality data for model training. To address these challenges, this paper first proposes HSC-GPT, a large-scale language model framework specifically designed for tasks in human settlement construction, considering the unique characteristics of this domain.

This paper is a continuation of the work on unbounded Toeplitz-like operators $T_\Om$ with rational matrix symbol $\Om$ initiated in Groenewald et. al (Complex Anal. Oper. Theory 15, 1(2021)), where a Wiener-Hopf type factorization of $\Om$ is obtained and used to determine when $T_\Om$ is Fredholm and compute the Fredholm index in case $T_\Om$ is Fredholm. Due to the high level of non-uniqueness and complicated form of the Wiener-Hopf type factorization, it does not appear useful in determining when $T_\Om$ is invertible. In the present paper we use state space methods to characterize invertibility of $T_\Om$ in terms of the existence of a stabilizing solution of an associated nonsymmetric discrete algebraic Riccati equation, which in turn leads to a pseudo-canonical factorization of $\Om$ and concrete formulas of $T_\Om^{-1}$.

Existing LLM-based multi-agent systems can already solve simple dialogue tasks. Solutions to more complex tasks, however, are complicated through logic inconsistencies due to cascading hallucinations caused by naively chaining LLMs. Here we introduce MetaGPT, an innovative meta-programming framework incorporating efficient human workflows into LLM-based multi-agent collaborations. MetaGPT encodes Standardized Operating Procedures (SOPs) into prompt sequences for more streamlined workflows, thus allowing agents with human-like domain expertise to verify intermediate results and reduce errors. MetaGPT utilizes an assembly line paradigm to assign diverse roles to various agents, efficiently breaking down complex tasks into subtasks involving many agents working together. On collaborative software engineering benchmarks, MetaGPT generates more coherent solutions than previous chat-based multi-agent systems. Our project can be found at https://github.com/geekan/MetaGPT

In a recent paper (Groenewald et al.\ {\em Complex Anal.\ Oper.\ Theory} \textbf{15:1} (2021)) we considered an unbounded Toeplitz-like operator $T_Ω$ generated by a rational matrix function $Ω$ that has poles on the unit circle $\mathbb{T}$ of the complex plane. A Wiener-Hopf type factorization was proved and this factorization was used to determine some Fredholm properties of the operator $T_Ω$, including the Fredholm index. Due to the lower triangular structure (rather than diagonal) of the middle term in the Wiener-Hopf type factorization and the lack of uniqueness, it is not straightforward to determine the dimension of the kernel of $T_Ω$ from this factorization, and hence of the co-kernel, even when $T_Ω$ is Fredholm. In the current paper we provide a formula for the dimension of the kernel of $T_Ω$ under an additional assumption on the Wiener-Hopf type factorization. In the case that $Ω$ is a $2 \times 2$ matrix function, a characterization of the kernel of the middle factor of the Wiener-Hopf type factorization is given and in many cases a formula for the dimension of the kernel is obtained. The characterization of the kernel of the middle factor for the $2 \times 2$ case is partially extended to the case of matrix functions of arbitrary size.

Layered van der Waals (vdW) magnets are prominent playgrounds for develo** magnetoelectric, magneto-optic and spintronic devices. In spintronics, particularly in spincaloritronic applications, low thermal conductivity ($κ$) is highly desired. Here, by combining thermal transport measurements with density functional theory calculations, we demonstrate low $κ$ down to 1 W m$^{-1}$ K$^{-1}$ in a typical vdW ferromagnet Cr$_2$Si$_2$Te$_6$. In the paramagnetic state, development of magnetic fluctuations way above $T_\mathrm{c}=$ 33 K strongly reduces $κ$ via spin-phonon scattering, leading to low $κ\sim$ 1 W m$^{-1}$ K$^{-1}$ over a wide temperature range, in comparable to that of amorphous silica. In the magnetically ordered state, emergence of resonant magnon-phonon scattering limits $κ$ below $\sim$ 2 W m$^{-1}$ K$^{-1}$, which would be three times larger if magnetic scatterings were absent. Application of magnetic fields strongly suppresses the spin-phonon scattering, giving rise to large enhancements of $κ$. Our calculations well capture these complex behaviours of $κ$ by taking the temperature- and magnetic-field-dependent spin-phonon scattering into account. Realization of low $κ$ which is easily tunable by magnetic fields in Cr$_2$Si$_2$Te$_6$, may further promote spincaloritronic applications of vdW magnets. Our theoretical approach may also provide a generic understanding of spin-phonon scattering, which appears to play important roles in various systems.

The Berry curvature associated with the topological nodal-line is expected to produce an anomalous Nernst effect. Here, we present sizable anomalous Nernst signal in Mn$_3$Si$_2$Te$_6$ below $T_\mathrm{c}$. In the low-magnetic-field region where CMR is most apparent, the scaling ratio between the Nernst signal and magnetization is significantly enhanced compared to that in conventional magnetic materials. The enhanced Nernst effect and CMR likely share the same mechanisms, which are closely linked to the nodal-line topology.

Entity linking (EL) is the process of linking entity mentions appearing in text with their corresponding entities in a knowledge base. EL features of entities (e.g., prior probability, relatedness score, and entity embedding) are usually estimated based on Wikipedia. However, for newly emerging entities (EEs) which have just been discovered in news, they may still not be included in Wikipedia yet. As a consequence, it is unable to obtain required EL features for those EEs from Wikipedia and EL models will always fail to link ambiguous mentions with those EEs correctly as the absence of their EL features. To deal with this problem, in this paper we focus on a new task of learning EL features for emerging entities in a general way. We propose a novel approach called STAMO to learn high-quality EL features for EEs automatically, which needs just a small number of labeled documents for each EE collected from the Web, as it could further leverage the knowledge hidden in the unlabeled data. STAMO is mainly based on self-training, which makes it flexibly integrated with any EL feature or EL model, but also makes it easily suffer from the error reinforcement problem caused by the mislabeled data. Instead of some common self-training strategies that try to throw the mislabeled data away explicitly, we regard self-training as a multiple optimization process with respect to the EL features of EEs, and propose both intra-slot and inter-slot optimizations to alleviate the error reinforcement problem implicitly. We construct two EL datasets involving selected EEs to evaluate the quality of obtained EL features for EEs, and the experimental results show that our approach significantly outperforms other baseline methods of learning EL features.

The singlet state of a system of two two-level atoms changes smoothly, remaining dark, as the Hamiltonian TC is slowly deformed, despite the inapplicability of the adiabatic theorem to this case. In this case, there is a small probability of emission of free photons, which does not depend on the smoothness of the deformation of the Hamiltonian. The effect of spontaneous emission is enhanced by the addition of one more pair of atoms in the singlet state due to the exchange of virtual photons in the cavity. A similar effect was also established for the case when atoms can move between two cavities, but here, on the contrary, with an increase in the number of atoms, the emission decreases. This purely quantum effect must be taken into account in practical manipulations with atomic singlets; however, its weakness testifies, rather, to the stability of dark states and the prospects for their use in information exchange (quantum cryptographic protocols) and as an energy accumulator for nono-devices.

On the other hand, using a Douglas-Shapiro-Shields type of factorization, we show that $R(z)$ factors as $R(z)=Ξ(z)Ψ(z)$, where $Ξ(z)$ and $Ψ(z)$ are rational $m\times m$ matrix functions, $Ξ(z)$ is unitary on the unit circle and $Ψ(z)$ is an invertible outer function. Furthermore, the fact that $Ξ(z)$ is unitary on the unit circle allows us to factor as $Ξ(z) =V(z)W^*(z)$ where $V(z)$ and $W(z)$ are rational bi-inner $m\times m$ matrix functions. The latter allows us to solve the Wiener-Hopf indices problem. To derive explicit formulas for the functions $V(z)$ and $W(z)$ requires additional realization properties of the function $Ξ(z)$ which are given in the last two sections.

The synchronization of power generators is an important condition for the proper functioning of a power system, in which the fluctuations in frequency and the phase angle differences between the generators are sufficiently small when subjected to stochastic disturbances. Serious fluctuations can prompt desynchronization, which may lead to widespread power outages. Here, we model the stochastic disturbance by a Brownian motion process in the linearized system of the non-linear power systems and characterize the fluctuations by the variances of the frequency and the phase angle differences in the invariant probability distribution. We propose a method to calculate the variances of the frequency and the phase angle differences. For the system with uniform disturbance-dam** ratio, we derive explicit formulas for the variance matrices of the frequency and the phase angle differences. It is shown that the fluctuation of the frequency at a node depends on the disturbance-dam** ratio and the inertia at this node only, and the fluctuations of the phase angle differences in the lines are independent of the inertia. In particular, the synchronization stability is related to the cycle space of the network. We reveal the influences of constructing new lines and increasing capacities of lines on the fluctuations in the phase angle differences in the existing lines. The results are illustrated for the transmission system of Shandong Province of China. For the system with non-uniform disturbance-dam** ratio, we further obtain bounds of the variance matrices.

We explore the chaotic behavior of particle motion in a black hole with quasi-topological electromagnetism. The chaos bound is found to be violated in the higher order expansion of the metric function and the electric potential near the horizon. We draw the Poincare sections of particle motion corresponding to the chaos bound violated and non-violated cases, respectively. Then we study the relationship between the maximal Lyapunov exponent λ_s defined by the static equilibrium and the Lyapunov exponent of the particle geodesic motion near the Reissner-Nordstrom(RN) black hole and the black hole with quasi-topological electromagnetism. We find an interesting relationship between the Lyapunov exponent λ_{ph} of photon's radial falling into the black hole and the maximal Lyapunov exponent λ_s. For the black holes whose metric function increases monotonically with radius outside horizon, this leads to λ_{ph} \geq 2λ_s.

It was recently shown in [24] that the Banach space operator relations Equivalence After Extension (EAE) and Schur Coupling (SC) do not coincide by characterizing these relations for operators acting on essentially incomparable Banach spaces. The examples that prove the non-coincidence are Fredholm operators, which is a subclass of relatively regular operators, the latter being operators with complementable kernels and ranges. In this paper we analyse the relations EAE and SC for the class of relatively regular operators, leading to an equivalent Banach space operator problem from which we derive new cases where EAE and SC coincide and provide a new example for which EAE and SC do not coincide and where the Banach space are not essentially incomparable.

It extends the analysis of such operators generated by scalar rational functions with poles on T found in [11,12,13]. A Wiener-Hopf type factorization of rational matrix functions with poles and zeroes on T is proved and then used to analyze the Fredholm properties of such Toeplitz-like operators. A formula for the index, based on the factorization, is given. Furthermore, it is shown that the determinant of the matrix function having no zeroes on T is not sufficient for the Toeplitz-like operator to be Fredholm, in contrast to the classical case.

In 1994 H. Bart and V.É. Tsekanovskii posed the question whether the Banach space operator relations matricial coupling (MC), equivalence after extension (EAE) and Schur coupling (SC) coincide, leaving only the implication EAE/MC $\Rightarrow$ SC open. Despite several affirmative results, in this paper we show that the answer in general is no. This follows from a complete description of EAE and SC for the case that the operators act on essentially incomparable Banach spaces, which also leads to a new characterization of the notion of essential incomparability. Concretely, the forward shift operators $U$ on $\ell^p$ and $V$ on $\ell^q$, for $1\leq p,q\leq \infty$, $p\neq q$, are EAE but not SC. As a corollary, SC is not transitive. Under mild assumptions, given $U$ and $V$ that are Atkinson or generalized invertible and EAE, we give a concrete operator $W$ that is SC to both $U$ and $V$, even if $U$ and $V$ are not SC themselves. Some further affirmative results for the case where the Banach spaces are isomorphic are also obtained.

The conservative Post-Newtonian (PN) Hamiltonian formulation of spinning compact binaries has six integrals of motion including the total energy, the total angular momentum and the constant unit lengths of spins. The manifold correction method can effectively eliminate the integration errors accumulation in a long time. In this paper, the accelerated manifold correction method based on graphics processing unit (GPU) is designed to simulate the dynamic evolution of spinning compact binaries. The feasibility and the efficiency of parallel computation on GPU for spinning compact binaries have been confirmed by various numerical experiments. The numerical comparisons show that the accuracy on GPU execution of manifold corrections method has a good agreement with the execution of codes on merely central processing unit (CPU-based) method. The acceleration ability when the codes are implemented on GPU can increase enormously through the use of shared memory and register optimization techniques without additional hardware costs, implying that the speedup is nearly 13 times as compared with the codes executed on CPU for phase space scan (including orbits). In addition, GPU-accelerated manifold correction method is used to numerically study how dynamics are affected by the spin-induced quadrupole-monopole interaction for black hole binary system.

In this paper we prove that the implication EAE $\Rightarrow$ SC also holds for inessential Banach space operators. The inessential operators were introduced as a generalization of the compact operators, and include, besides the compact operators, also the strictly singular and strictly co-singular operators; in fact they form the largest ideal such that the invertible elements in the associated quotient algebra coincide with (the equivalence classes of) the Fredholm operators.

In recent years the coincidence of the operator relations equivalence after extension and Schur coupling was settled for the Hilbert space case, by showing that equivalence after extension implies equivalence after one-sided extension. In this paper we investigate consequences of equivalence after extension for compact Banach space operators. We show that generating the same operator ideal is necessary but not sufficient for two compact operators to be equivalent after extension. In analogy with the necessary and sufficient conditions on the singular values for compact Hilbert space operators that are equivalent after extension, we prove the necessity of similar relationships between the $s$-numbers of two compact Banach space operators that are equivalent after extension, for arbitrary $s$-functions.
We investigate equivalence after extension for operators on $\ell^{p}$-spaces. We show that two operators that act on different $\ell^{p}$-spaces cannot be equivalent after one-sided extension. Such operators can still be equivalent after extension, for instance all invertible operators are equivalent after extension, however, if one of the two operators is compact, then they cannot be equivalent after extension. This contrasts the Hilbert space case where equivalence after one-sided extension and equivalence after extension are, in fact, identical relations.
Finally, for general Banach spaces $X$ and $Y$, we investigate consequences of an operator on $X$ being equivalent after extension to a compact operator on $Y$. We show that, in this case, a closed finite codimensional subspace of $Y$ must embed into $X$, and that certain general Banach space properties must transfer from $X$ to $Y$. We also show that no operator on $X$ can be equivalent after extension to an operator on $Y$, if $X$ and $Y$ are essentially incomparable Banach spaces.

It is known that two Banach space operators that are Schur coupled are also equivalent after extension, or equivalently, matricially coupled. The converse implication, that operators which are equivalent after extension or matricially coupled are also Schur coupled, was only known for Fredholm Hilbert space operators and Fredholm Banach space operators with index 0. We prove that this implication also holds for Hilbert space operators with closed range, generalizing the result for Fredholm operators, and Banach space operators that can be approximated in operator norm by invertible operators. The combination of these two results enables us to prove that the implication holds for all operators on separable Hilbert spaces.
