A persistently singular map of $\mathbb{T}^n$ that is $C^2$ robustly transitive but is not $C^1$ robustly transitive
Abstract: Let $\mathcal{E}$ be the set of endomorphisms of the $n$-torus. We exhibit an example of a map such that is robustly transitive if $\mathcal{E}$ is endowed with the $C^2$ topology but is not robustly transitive if $\mathcal{E}$ is endowed with the $C^1$ topology.

A persistently singular map of $\mathbb{T}^n$ that is $C^1$ robustly transitive
Abstract: Consider the set $E$ of endomorphisms of the n-torus endowed with the $C^1$ topology. A point in $E$ that is persistently singular and robustly transitive is exhibited.

FREEtree: A Tree-based Approach for High Dimensional Longitudinal Data With Correlated Features
Abstract: This paper proposes FREEtree, a tree-based method for high dimensional longitudinal data with correlated features. Popular machine learning approaches, like Random Forests, commonly used for variable selection do not perform well when there are correlated features and do not account for data observed over time. FREEtree deals with longitudinal data by using a piecewise random effects model. It als… ▽ More

On K3 fibrations: towards mirror symmetry
Abstract: Given X a K3 surface, a mirror dual to X can be identified with a component of the moduli space of semistable sheaves on X. We consider fibrations by K3 surfaces over a one dimensional base that are Calabi-Yau and we charaterize the dual fibration that turns to be derived equivalent to the original one relating the problem to mirror symmetry.

Some remarks on cyclic Galois coverings of the projective line over finite fields
Abstract: We study cyclic finite Galois extensions of the rational function field of the projective line P^{1}(F_q) over a finite field F_q with q elements defined by considering quotient curves by finite subgroups of the projective linear group PGL(2,q), and we enumerate them expressing the count in terms of Stirling numbers.

Abelian fibrations and SYZ mirror conjecture
Abstract: SYZ mirror conjecture predicts that a Calabi-Yau manifold $X$ consists of a family of tori which are dual to a family of special lagrangian tori on the mirror dual manifold $\hat{X}$. Here we consider a fibration of polarized abelian varieties and we construct a dual one. Moreover we prove that they are equivalent at the level of derived categories.

Derived equivalences of Calabi-Yau fibrations
Abstract: We consider fibrations by abelian surfaces and K3 surfaces over a one dimensional base that are Calabi-Yau and we obtain dual fibrations that are derived equivalent to the original fibration. Finally, we relate the problem to mirror symmetry.

On a stratification of the Kontsevich space of the Grassmannian G(2,4) and enumerative geometry
Abstract: We study the geometry of the Kontsevich compactification of stable maps to the Grassmannian of lines in the projective space. We consider a stratification of this space. As an application we compute the degree of the variety parametrizing rational ruled surfaces with a minimal directix of degree d/2-1 by intersecting divisors in the moduli space of stable maps. For example, there are 1280540318720… ▽ More

Intersections numbers on the compact variety of rational ruled surfaces
Abstract: We consider the Quot scheme, R_{d}, compactifying the space of degree d maps from the projective line to the Grassmannian of lines. We give an algorithm for computing the degree of R_{d} under a "generalized Plücker embedding", this is a certain Gromov-Witten invariant. The approach is to apply the Atiyah-Bott localization formula for the natural C^{*}-action on R_{d}. These numbers can be obtai… ▽ More

On the cohomology of Brill-Noether loci over Quot schemes
Abstract: Let C be a smooth projective curve over the field of the complex numbers. We consider Brill-Noether loci over the moduli of maps from C to the Grassmannian G(m,n) and the corresponding Quot schemes of quotients of a trivial vector bundle on C compactifying the spaces of morphisms. We study in detail the case in which m=2, n=4. We prove results on the irreducibility and dimension of these Brill-N… ▽ More
