Recognition of Handwritten Roman Script Using Tesseract Open source OCR Engine
Abstract: In the present work, we have used Tesseract 2.01 open source Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Engine under Apache License 2.0 for recognition of handwriting samples of lower case Roman script. Handwritten isolated and free-flow text samples were collected from multiple users. Tesseract is trained to recognize user-specific handwriting samples of both the categories of document pages. Pion Spectra in the Production of Resonances by Neutrinos
Abstract: A method is presented using helicity cross sections for calculating neutrino-nucleon interactions. The formalism is applied in the calculation of the pion spectra produced by nu_mu and nu_tau beams. The masses of the charged leptons are kept throughout the calculations. Cross sections are presented in numerous figures where the contributions of the significant form factors are also shown. The ar… ▽ More

The Lamb shift contribution of very light millicharged particles
Abstract: The leading order vacuum polarization contribution of very light millicharged fermions and scalar (spin-0) particles with charge εe and mass μto the Lamb shift of the hydrogen atom is shown to imply universal, i.e. μ-independent, upper bounds on ε: ε\lsim 10^{-4} for μ\lsim 1 keV in the case of fermions, and for scalars this bound is increased by a factor of 2. This is in contrast to expectation… ▽ More

Probing Lepton Number Violating Interactions with Beta-beams
Abstract: We show that a detector placed near a beta-beam storage ring can probe lepton number violating interactions, as predicted by supersymmetric theories with R-parity non-conservation. In the presence of such interactions, nu_tau can be produced during beta-decay leading to tau leptons through weak interactions. Alternatively, electron neutrinos from beta-decay of radioactive ions can produce tau le… ▽ More

On the transport equations of cosmic neutrinos passing through Earth and secondary nu_mu fluxes
Abstract: The convergence of the iterative solutions of the transport equations of cosmic muon and tau neutrinos propagating through Earth is studied and analyzed. For achieving a fast convergence of the iterative solutions of the coupled transport equations of nu_tau, nubar_tau and the associated tau^{\pm} fluxes, a new semi-analytic input algorithm is presented where the peculiar tau-decay contributions… ▽ More

Neutrino masses and R-parity violation

Neutrino masses in R-parity violating supersymmetric models
Abstract: We study neutrino masses and mixing in R-parity violating supersymmetric models with generic soft supersymmetry breaking terms. Neutrinos acquire masses from various sources: Tree level neutrino--neutralino mixing and loop effects proportional to bilinear and/or trilinear R-parity violating parameters. Each of these contributions is controlled by different parameters and have different suppressi… ▽ More

Light GUT Triplets and Yukawa Splitting
Abstract: Triplet-mediated proton decay in Grand Unified Theories (GUTs) is usually suppressed by arranging a large triplet mass. Here we explore instead a mechanism for suppressing the couplings of the triplets to the first and second generations compared to the Yukawa couplings, so that the triplets' mass can be below the GUT scale. This mechanism is based on a ``triplet symmetry'' in the context of pro… ▽ More

Radiative production of invisible charginos in photon photon collision
Abstract: If in a supersymmetric model, the lightest chargino is nearly degenerate with the lightest neutralino, the former can decay into the latter alongwith a soft pion (or a lepton-neutrino pair). Near degeneracy of the chargino and neutralino masses can cause the other decay products (the pion or the lepton) to be almost invisible. Photon-photon colliders offer a possibility of clean detection of suc… ▽ More

Muon anomalous magnetic moment confronts exotic fermions and gauge bosons
Abstract: We investigate the status of models containing exotic fermions or extra Z-like neutral gauge bosons in the light of the recent data on anomalous magnetic moment of muon. We find that it is possible to extract interesting bounds on the parameters characterizing such models. The bounds are particularly strong if the new flavour-changing neutral currents are axial vectorlike.

Cosmological constraints on R-parity violation from neutrino decay
Abstract: If the neutrino mass is non-zero, as hinted by several experiments, then R-parity-violating supersymmetric Yukawa couplings can drive a heavy neutrino decay into lighter states. The heavy neutrino may either decay radiatively into a lighter neutrino, or it may decay into three light neutrinos through a Z-mediated penguin. For a given mass of the decaying neutrino, we calculate its lifetime for t… ▽ More

Some low energy effects of a light stabilized radion in the Randall-Sundrum model
Abstract: In this paper we study some low energy effects of a light stabilized radion in the Randall-Sundrum scenario. We find that the NLC 500 with its projected precision level will be able to probe the radion contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment and electric quadrupole moment of W boson for values of radion vev up to 500 Gev. On the other hand the BNL experiment E821 will be able to test the r… ▽ More

R-parity-violating trilinear couplings and recent neutrino data
Abstract: The nontrivial structure of the neutrino mass matrix, suggested by the recent Super-Kamiokande results and data from other neutrino experiments, can be reproduced in R-parity-violating supersymmetric theories. This requires sets of products of R-parity-violating trilinear couplings to take appropriately chosen values. It is shown that the existing constraints on these couplings are satisfied by… ▽ More
