Abstract:
For any natural number $d$, the Vladimirov-Taibleson operator is a natural analogue of the Laplace operator for complex-valued functions on a $d$-dimensional vector space $V$ over a local field $K$. For any natural number $d$, the Vladimirov-Taibleson operator is a natural analogue of the Laplace operator for complex-valued functions on a $d$-dimensional vector space $V$ over a local field $K$. Just as the Laplace operator on $L^2(\mathbb R^d)$ is the infinitesimal generator of Brownian motion with state space $\mathbb R^d$, the Vladimirov-Taibleson operator on $L^2(V)$ is the infinitesimal generator of real-time Brownian motion with state space $V$. This study deepens the formal analogy between the two types of diffusion processes by demonstrating that both are scaling limits of discrete-time random walks on a discrete group. It generalizes the earlier works, which restricted $V$ to be the $p$-adic numbers.

The fusion of multimodal sensor data streams such as camera images and lidar point clouds plays an important role in the operation of autonomous vehicles (AVs). Robust perception across a range of adverse weather and lighting conditions is specifically required for AVs to be deployed widely. While multi-sensor fusion networks have been previously developed for perception in sunny and clear weather conditions, these methods show a significant degradation in performance under night-time and poor weather conditions. In this paper, we propose a simple yet effective technique called ContextualFusion to incorporate the domain knowledge about cameras and lidars behaving differently across lighting and weather variations into 3D object detection models. Specifically, we design a Gated Convolutional Fusion (GatedConv) approach for the fusion of sensor streams based on the operational context. To aid in our evaluation, we use the open-source simulator CARLA to create a multimodal adverse-condition dataset called AdverseOp3D to address the shortcomings of existing datasets being biased towards daytime and good-weather conditions. Our ContextualFusion approach yields an mAP improvement of 6.2% over state-of-the-art methods on our context-balanced synthetic dataset. Finally, our method enhances state-of-the-art 3D objection performance at night on the real-world NuScenes dataset with a significant mAP improvement of 11.7%.

Material \& methods: In a search for predictive biomarkers of antipsychotic response, blood methylomes of 28 patients were analyzed before and 4 weeks into risperidone therapy. Results: Several CpGs exhibiting response-specific temporal dynamics were identified in otherwise temporally stable methylomes and noticeable global response-related differences were observed between good and bad responders. These were associated with genes involved in immunity, neurotransmission and neuronal development. Polymorphisms in many of these genes were previously linked with schizophrenia etiology and antipsychotic response. Conclusion: Antipsychotic response seems to be shaped by both stable and medication-induced methylation differences.

Selecting period values for tasks is a very important step in the design process of a real-time system, especially due to the significance of its impact on system schedulability. It is well known that, under RMS, the utilization bound for a harmonic task set is 100%. Also, polynomial-time algorithms have been developed for response-time analysis of harmonic task sets. In practice, the largest acceptable value for the period of a task is determined by the performance and safety requirements of the application. In this paper, we address the problem of assigning harmonic periods to a task set such that every task gets assigned an integer period less than or equal to its application specified upper bound and the task utilization of every task is less than 1. We focus on integer solutions given the discrete nature of time in real-time computer systems.
We first express this problem of assigning harmonic periods to a task set as a discrete piecewise optimization problem. We then present the 'Discrete Piecewise Harmonic Search' (DPHS) algorithm that outputs an optimal harmonic task assignment. We then define conditions for a metric to be rational for harmonization. We show that commonly used metrics like, the total percentage error (TPE), total system utilization (TSU), first order error (FOE), and maximum percentage error (MPE), are rational. We next prove that the DPHS algorithm finds the optimal feasible assignment, if one exists, for these rational metrics. We apply the DPHS algorithm to harmonize task sets used in real-world applications to highlight its benefits. We compare the performance of the DPHS algorithm against a brute-force search and find that the DPHS searches up to 94\% fewer task sets than the brute-force search that obtains the optimal solution.

Asymptotic analysis of the conditional probabilities shows that the vector components are dependent for all time. Exit time probabilities for the higher dimensional processes reveal a concrete effect of the component dependency.

We test the hypothesis that discourse predictability influences Hindi syntactic choice. While prior work has shown that a number of factors (e.g., information status, dependency length, and syntactic surprisal) influence Hindi word order preferences, the role of discourse predictability is underexplored in the literature. Inspired by prior work on syntactic priming, we investigate how the words and syntactic structures in a sentence influence the word order of the following sentences. Specifically, we extract sentences from the Hindi-Urdu Treebank corpus (HUTB), permute the preverbal constituents of those sentences, and build a classifier to predict which sentences actually occurred in the corpus against artificially generated distractors. The classifier uses a number of discourse-based features and cognitive features to make its predictions, including dependency length, surprisal, and information status. We find that information status and LSTM-based discourse predictability influence word order choices, especially for non-canonical object-fronted orders. We conclude by situating our results within the broader syntactic priming literature.

Word order choices during sentence production can be primed by preceding sentences. In this work, we test the DUAL MECHANISM hypothesis that priming is driven by multiple different sources. Using a Hindi corpus of text productions, we model lexical priming with an n-gram cache model and we capture more abstract syntactic priming with an adaptive neural language model. We permute the preverbal constituents of corpus sentences, and then use a logistic regression model to predict which sentences actually occurred in the corpus against artificially generated meaning-equivalent variants. Our results indicate that lexical priming and lexically-independent syntactic priming affect complementary sets of verb classes. By showing that different priming influences are separable from one another, our results support the hypothesis that multiple different cognitive mechanisms underlie priming.

In this paper, we introduce a generalization of corona of graphs. This construction generalizes the generalized corona of graphs (consequently, the corona of graphs), the cluster of graphs, the corona-vertex subdivision graph of graphs and the corona-edge subdivision graph of graphs. Further, it enables to get some more variants of corona of graphs as its particular cases. To determine the spectra of the adjacency, Laplacian and the signless Laplacian matrices of the above mentioned graphs, we define a notion namely, the coronal of a matrix constrained by an index set, which generalizes the coronal of a graph matrix. Then we prove several results pertain to the determination of this value. Then we determine the characteristic polynomials of the adjacency and the Laplacian matrices of this graph in terms of the characteristic polynomials of the adjacency and the Laplacian matrices of the constituent graphs and the coronal of some matrices related to the constituent graphs. Using these, we derive the characteristic polynomials of the adjacency and the Laplacian matrices of the above mentioned existing variants of corona of graphs, and some more variants of corona of graphs with some special constraints.

For the purpose of retrieving relevant images with appropriate keyword(s) an image crawler is designed and implemented. Here, keyword(s) are submitted as query and with the help of sender engine, images are downloaded along with metadata like URL, filename, file size, file access date and time etc.,. Later, with the help of URL, images already present in repository and newly downloaded are compared for uniqueness. Only unique URLs are in turn considered and stored in repository. The images in the repository are used to build novel Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) system in future. This repository may be used for various purposes. This image crawler tool is useful in building image datasets which can be used by any CBIR system for training and testing purposes.

Further, we define several new unary graph operations which becomes particular cases of this construction. We determine the Adjacency and Laplacian spectra of $[S(G)]^{H_1}_{H_2}$ for some classes of graphs $G$, $H_1$ and $H_2$. From these results, we derive the $L$-spectrum of the graphs obtained by the unary graph operations mentioned above. As applications, these results enable us to compute the number of spanning trees and Kirchhoff index of these graphs.

Rosenbloom and Tsfasman introduced a new metric (RT metric) which is a generalization of the Hamming metric. In this paper we study the distance graphs of spaces $Z_q^n$ and $S_n$ with Rosenbloom -Tsfasman metric. We also describe the degrees of vertices, components and the chromatic number of these graphs.
