Modern Internet of Things (IoT) applications generate enormous amounts of data, making data-driven machine learning essential for develo** precise and reliable statistical models. However, data is often stored in silos, and strict user-privacy legislation complicates data utilization, limiting machine learning's potential in traditional centralized paradigms due to diverse data probability distributions and lack of personalization. Federated learning, a new distributed paradigm, supports collaborative learning while preserving privacy, making it ideal for IoT applications. By employing cryptographic techniques, IoT systems can securely store and transmit data, ensuring consistency. The integration of federated learning and blockchain is particularly advantageous for handling sensitive data, such as in healthcare. Despite the potential of these technologies, a comprehensive examination of their integration in edge-fog-cloud-based IoT computing systems and healthcare applications is needed. This survey article explores the architecture, structure, functions, and characteristics of federated learning and blockchain, their applications in various computing paradigms, and evaluates their implementations in healthcare.

This work involves the usage of various NLP models to predict the winner of a particular judgment by the means of text extraction and summarization from a judgment document. These documents are useful when it comes to legal proceedings. One such advantage is that these can be used for citations and precedence reference in Lawsuits and cases which makes a strong argument for their case by the ones using it. When it comes to precedence, it is necessary to refer to an ample number of documents in order to collect legal points with respect to the case. However, reviewing these documents takes a long time to analyze due to the complex word structure and the size of the document. This work involves the comparative study of 6 different self-attention-based transformer models and how they perform when they are being tweaked in 4 different activation functions. These models which are trained with 200 judgement contexts and their results are being judged based on different benchmark parameters. These models finally have a confidence level up to 99% while predicting the judgment. This can be used to get a particular judgment document without spending too much time searching relevant cases and reading them completely.

Wellness in trivial terms combines physical, social, and mental wellbeing. While mental health is neglected, long-term success in a person life is mostly determined by his psychological health and contentment. For a person in distress, professional mental health services are quite expensive, unpopular, and invite a lot of hesitation. Hence, it would be effective to use an Android application that can offer day to day therapeutic assistance, meditation sessions, and guidance since it can cater to a massive community instantly. In this paper, we propose a mobile and web application AMITY with a chat group and chatbot created using a machine learning approach. We have also built a dataset to train the chatbot model that we propose in this paper. We briefly introduce the dataset and the machine learning model in section 3. In section 4, we include the architecture and the development details of the Hybrid application. Next, we present our results on usability and the efficiency of the idea we propose.

Human activity recognition is one of the most important tasks in computer vision and has proved useful in different fields such as healthcare, sports training and security. There are a number of approaches that have been explored to solve this task, some of them involving sensor data, and some involving video data. In this paper, we aim to explore two deep learning-based approaches, namely single frame Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and convolutional Long Short-Term Memory to recognise human actions from videos. Using a convolutional neural networks-based method is advantageous as CNNs can extract features automatically and Long Short-Term Memory networks are great when it comes to working on sequence data such as video. The two models were trained and evaluated on a benchmark action recognition dataset, UCF50, and another dataset that was created for the experimentation. Though both models exhibit good accuracies, the single frame CNN model outperforms the Convolutional LSTM model by having an accuracy of 99.8% with the UCF50 dataset.

Drones are a promising technology for autonomous data collection and indoor sensing. In situations when human-controlled UAVs may not be practical or dependable, such as in uncharted or dangerous locations, the usage of autonomous UAVs offers flexibility, cost savings, and reduced risk. The system creates a simulated quadcopter capable of autonomously travelling in an indoor environment using the gazebo simulation tool and the ros navigation system framework known as Navigaation2. While Nav2 has successfully shown the functioning of autonomous navigation in terrestrial robots and vehicles, the same hasn't been accomplished with unmanned aerial vehicles and still has to be done. The goal is to use the slam toolbox for ROS and the Nav2 navigation system framework to construct a simulated drone that can move autonomously in an indoor (gps-less) environment.

Cashew is one of the most extensively consumed nuts in the world, and it is also known as a cash crop. A tree may generate a substantial yield in a few months and has a lifetime of around 70 to 80 years. Yet, in addition to the benefits, there are certain constraints to its cultivation. With the exception of parasites and algae, anthracnose is the most common disease affecting trees. When it comes to cashew, the dense structure of the tree makes it difficult to diagnose the disease with ease compared to short crops. Hence, we present a dataset that exclusively consists of healthy and diseased cashew leaves and fruits. The dataset is authenticated by adding RGB color transformation to highlight diseased regions, photometric and geometric augmentations, and RaLSGAN to enlarge the initial collection of images and boost performance in real-time situations when working with a constrained dataset. Further, transfer learning is used to test the classification efficiency of the dataset using algorithms such as MobileNet and Inception. TensorFlow lite is utilized to develop these algorithms for disease diagnosis utilizing drones in real-time. Several post-training optimization strategies are utilized, and their memory size is compared. They have proven their effectiveness by delivering high accuracy (up to 99%) and a decrease in memory and latency, making them ideal for use in applications with limited resources.

The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) is revolutionizing the agricultural industry. Cashews are grown by approximately 70% of small and marginal farmers, and the cashew industry plays a critical role in their economic development. To take timely counter measures against plant diseases and infections, it is imperative to monitor and detect diseases as early as possible and take suitable measures. Using UAVs, such as those that are equipped with artificial intelligence, can assist farmers by providing early detection of crop diseases and precision pesticide application. An edge computing paradigm of Artificial Intelligence is employed to process this image in order to make decisions with the least amount of latency possible. As a result of these decisions, the stage of infestation, the crops affected, the method of prevention of spreading the disease, and what type and amount of pesticides need to be applied can be determined. UAVs equipped with sensors detect disease patterns quickly and accurately over large areas. Combined with AI algorithms, these machines can analyse data from a variety of sources such as temperature, humidity, CO2 levels and soil composition. This allows them to recognize disease symptoms before they become visible. Early detection allows for more effective control strategies that can reduce costs caused by lost production due to infestations or crop failure. Using an end-to-end training architecture, mobileNetV2 determines how to classify anthracnose disease in cashew leaves. A standard PlantVillage dataset is used for performance evaluation and for standardization. Additionally, samples captured with a drone present a variety of image samples captured in a variety of conditions, which complicates the analysis. According to our analysis, we were able to identify the anthracnose with 95% accuracy and the healthy leaves with 99% accuracy.

Active galactic Nuclei (AGNs) with their relativistic jets pointed toward the observer, are a class of luminous gamma-ray sources commonly known as blazars. The study of this source class is essential to unveil the physical processes powering these extreme jets, to understand their cosmic evolution, as well as to indirectly probe the extragalactic background light. To do so, however, one needs to correctly classify and measure a redshift for a large sample of these sources. The Third Fermi-LAT Catalog of High-Energy Sources (3FHL) contains $1212$ blazars detected at energies greater than 10 GeV. However, $\sim$25% of these sources are unclassified and $\sim$56% lack redshift information. To increase the optical completeness of blazars in the 3FHL catalog, we devised an optical spectroscopic follow-up campaign using 4 $m$ and 8 $m$ telescopes. In this paper, we present the results of the last part of this campaign, where we observed 5 blazars using the 8 $m$ Gemini-S telescope in Chile. We report all 5 sources to be classified as BL Lacs, a redshift lower limit for 2 sources, and featureless spectra for the remaining 3 sources. We also performed a one-zone leptonic fit to the two sources with the redshift lower limits.

However, 177 sources remain unassociated and 23 are associated with a ROSAT X-ray detection of unknown origin. Pointed X-ray observations were conducted on 30 of these unassociated and unknown sources with Swift-XRT. A bright X-ray source counterpart was detected in 21 out of 30 fields. In five of these 21 fields, we detected more than one X-ray counterpart, totaling 26 X-ray sources analyzed. Multiwavelength data was compiled for each X-ray source detected. We find that 21 out of the 26 X-ray sources detected display the multiwavelength properties of blazars, while one X-ray source displays the characteristics of a Galactic source. Using trained decision tree, random forest, and support vector machine models, we predict all 21 blazar counterpart candidates to be BL Lacertae objects (BL Lacs). This is in agreement with BL Lacs being the most populous source class in the 3FHL.

In this paper, we measure the redshift of BL Lacs using the photometric dropout technique. The space-based telescope \emph{Swift} and the ground-based SARA telescopes are employed to provide magnitudes in the $uvw2,\ uvm2,\ uvw1,\ u,\ b,\ v,\ g',\ r',\ i',\ z'$ filters. We observe 60 BL Lacs and report reliable redshift upper limits for 41 of them. We discover three new high-$z$ BL Lacs ($z>1.3$) at $1.74_{-0.08}^{+0.05}$, $1.88_{-0.03}^{+0.07}$, and $2.10_{-0.04}^{+0.03}$, bringing the number of high-$z$ BL Lacs found by this method up to 19. Discussions are made on the implications for the blazar sequence, the \emph{Fermi} blazar divide, and the gamma-ray horizon based on an analysis of the 4LAC catalog and all high-$z$ BL Lacs found with the photo-$z$ technique.

As a follow-up of the optical spectroscopic campaign aimed at achieving completeness in the Third Catalog of Hard Fermi-LAT Sources (3FHL), we present here the results of a sample of 28 blazars of uncertain type observed using the 4m telescope at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO) in Chile. Out of these 28 sources, we find that 25 are BL Lacertae objects (BL Lacs) and 3 are Flat Spectrum Radio Quasars (FSRQs). We measure redshifts or lower limits for 16 of these blazars, whereas it is observed that the 12 remaining blazars have featureless optical spectra. These results are part of a more extended campaign of optical spectroscopy follow-up of 3FHL blazars, where until now 51 blazars of uncertain type have been classified into BL Lac and FSRQ categories. Further, this campaign has resulted in redshift measurements and lower limits for 15 of these sources. Our results contribute towards attaining a complete sample of blazars above 10 GeV, which then will be crucial in extending our knowledge on blazar emission mechanisms and the extragalactic background light.

Therefore, it is crucial that this catalog is made complete by providing associations for most sources. In this paper, we present the results of the X-ray analysis of 38 3FHL sources. We found a single bright X-ray source in 20 fields, two sources each in two fields and none for the remaining 16. The analysis of the properties of the 22 3FHL fields with X-ray sources led us to believe that most (19/22) are of extra-galactic origin. A machine-learning algorithm was used to determine the source type and we find that 15 potential blazars are likely BL Lacertae objects (BL Lacs). This is consistent with the fact that BL Lacs are by far the most numerous population detected above >10 GeV in the 3FHL.

We collected multi-wavelength data for this source from optical up to $γ$-rays, in order to study its spectral energy distribution (SED). In particular, this source was observed for the first time with NuSTAR, which accurately measures the synchrotron emission of this blazar up to 50 keV. Despite being classified as an HSP BL Lac object, the modeling of the SED reveals that this source likely belongs to the "masquerading BL Lac" class, which comprises of FSRQs appearing as disguised BL Lac objects.

With bolometric luminosities exceeding $10^{48}$ erg s$^{-1}$, powerful jets and supermassive black holes at their center, MeV blazars are some of the most extreme sources in the Universe. Recently, the Fermi-Large Area Telescope detected five new $γ$-ray emitting MeV blazars beyond redshift $z=3.1$. With the goal of precisely characterizing the jet properties of these extreme sources, we started a multiwavelength campaign to follow them up with joint NuSTAR, Swift and SARA observations. We observe six high-redshift quasars, four of them belonging to the new $γ$-ray emitting MeV blazars. Thorough X-ray analysis reveals spectral flattening at soft X-ray for three of these objects. The source NVSS J151002$+$570243 also shows a peculiar re-hardening of the X-ray spectrum at energies $E>6\,\rm keV$. Adopting a one-zone leptonic emission model, this combination of hard X-rays and $γ$-rays enables us to determine the location of the Inverse Compton peak and to accurately constrain the jet characteristics. In the context of the jet-accretion disk connection, we find that all six sources have jet powers exceeding accretion disk luminosity, seemingly validating this positive correlation even beyond $z>3$. Our six sources are found to have $10^9 \rm M_{\odot}$ black holes, further raising the space density of supermassive black holes in the redshift bin $z=[3,4]$.

Computing ionization equilibrium and normal mode opacities with these data, we construct LTE neutron star model atmospheres at 5.5 < Log(T_eff) < 6.5 and compute emergent spectra. We examine the dependence of the emergent spectra on T_eff and B. We also show the spectral variation with the angle between the magnetic field and the atmosphere normal and describe the significant limb darkening in the X-ray band. These results are compared with recent detailed computations of neutron star H model atmospheres in high fields and with low field Fe and H model atmospheres constructed from detailed opacities. The large spectral differences for different surface compositions may be discernible with present X-ray data; we also note improvements needed to allow comparison of Fe models with high quality spectra.

These computations, incorporating improved treatments of flux transport and convective stability, provide spectra for hydrogen, solar abundance and iron atmospheres. We compare our results to high field magnetic atmospheres, available only for hydrogen. An application to apparently thermal flux from the low field millisecond pulsar PSR J0437--4715 shows that H atmospheres fit substantially better than Fe models. We comment on extension to high fields and the implication of these results for neutron star luminosities and radii.

For massive black hole binaries produced in galactic mergers, we examine the possibility of inspiral induced by interaction with field stars. We model the evolution of such binaries for a range of galaxy core and binary parameters, using numerical results from the literature to compute the binary's energy and angular momentum loss rates due to stellar encounters and including the effect of back-action on the field stars. We find that only a small fraction of binary systems can merge within a Hubble time via unassisted stellar dynamics. External perturbations may, however, cause efficient inspiral. Averaging over a population of central black holes and galaxy mergers, we compute the expected background of gravitational radiation with periods Pw ~ 1-10 yr. Comparison with sensitivities from millisecond pulsar timing suggests that the strongest sources may be detectable with modest improvements to present experiments.
