We introduce operator-valued twisted Araki-Woods algebras. These are operator-valued versions of a class of second quantization algebras that includes $q$-Gaussian and $q$-Araki-Woods algebras and also generalize Shlyakhtenko's von Neumann algebras generated by operator-valued semicircular variables. We develop a disintegration theory that reduces the isomorphism type of operator-valued twisted Araki-Woods algebras over type I factors to the scalar-valued case. Moreover, these algebras come with a natural weight, and we characterize its modular theory. We also give sufficient criteria that guarantee that factoriality of these algebras.

Polarized emission carries captivating information and can help understand various elementary processes involving collisions within the plasma as well as in radiative transitions. In this work, we investigate the spatio-temporal dependence of the emission anisotropy of a nanosecond laser produced aluminium plasma at 100 mbar background pressure. We observe that the anisotropy of the emission spectra exhibits interesting spatio-temporal characteristics which in turn depend on the charge state of the emitting species. The degree of polarization (DOP) is found to reverse its sign along the plume propagation direction. Observed behaviour in DOP appears to be due to the contribution from various involved atomic processes. However, closer to the sample the contribution from the self-generated magnetic field predominantly affect the polarization. On the other hand, the effect of the self generated magnetic field on the observed polarized emission is insignificant as the plume propagates away from the sample. This is of particular interest in polarization resolved laser induced breakdown spectroscopy as spatio-temporal profile of the degree of polarization has to be properly taken into account prior to the spectral analysis.

We report the enhancement of Néel temperature of Cr2O3 by replacing 50% of Cr by Fe prepared by sol-gel method. The structural analysis by neutron diffraction has revealed that FeCrO3 belongs to a corundum structure (R-3c space group) with an antiferromagnetic spin structure having collinear spins along a-axis with propagation vector k=0; the high-temperature magnetisation study indicated a Néel temperature of 560 K. The enhancement in Néel temperature has been attributed to the strong orbital hybridization that leads to change in nearest neighbor bond angle and bond distances. Impedance spectroscopy has revealed conduction mechanism at low temperature is due to the polaron hop** while extrinsic contributions from the Maxwell-Wagner dominant at high temperatures

This new symmetry class appears for the BdG Hamiltonian in spinful background. We also observe the interesting feature that there is no evidence of Kramers's degeneracy for this BdG model Hamiltonian either in spinless or in spinful background. We call the extra symmetry class X, i.e, expanding the ten-fold symmetry classes for topological states of quantum matter. These BdG show many new, interesting and insightful results.

We consider the interacting helical liquid system at the one-dimensional edge of a two-dimensional topological insulator, coupled to an external magnetic field and s-wave superconductor and map it to an XYZ spin chain system. This model undergoes quantum Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless (BKT) transition with two limiting conditions. We derive the renormalization group (RG) equations explicitly and also present the flow lines behavior. We also present the behavior of RG flow lines based on the exact solution. We observe that the physics of Majorana fermion zero modes and the gaped Ising-ferromagnetic phase, which appears in a different context. We observe that the evidence of gapless helical Luttinger liquid phase as a common non-topological quantum phase for both quantum BKT transitions. We explain analytically and physically that there is no Majorana-Ising transition. In the presence of chemical potential, the system shows the commensurate to incommensurate transition.

Study of symmetry, topology and geometric phase can reveal many new and interesting results on the topological states of matter. Here we present a completely new and interesting result of symmetry, topology and quantization of geometric phase along with the physical explanation for two different symmetry classes. We present a detailed study of the auxiliary space for two different symmetry classes of Hamiltonians. We show explicitly that the origin of the auxiliary space inside the curve is only a necessary condition but it is not a sufficient condition for the topological state. One of the most interesting results is that same symmetry-class Hamiltonians show different behaviour in topology and quantized geometric phase.

We present results for asymptotic freedom like behavior for the topological state of the helical spin liquid system with finite proximity induced superconducting gap. We derive two different quantum Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless (BKT) equations for the two different limit of this model Hamiltonian. The common quantum phase for these two quantum BKT transitions is the helical Luttinger liquid phase where there is no evidence of asymptotic freedom. There is no evidence of superconductor-insulator transition for this asymptotic freedom study. We observe the evidance of asymptotic freedom for the two model Hamiltonian, but the character of the asymptotic phases are different. We also observe that the Luttinger liquid parameter plays a significant role to determine the asymptotic freedom but the chemical potential has no effect on it.

Two-level systems are one of the most important quantum systems and they form the basis of quantum computers. We briefly look at the traditional approach to two-level systems with an external driving field as well as those subjected to noise. This project is aimed at studying two specific methods for obtaining analytic solutions for two-level systems. One of the methods enables us to obtain analytic solutions for driven time-dependent two-level systems while the other attempts to give exact solution of qubit decoherence using a transfer matrix method. A thorough study of both papers is done and results are reproduced. The latter method is generalized for a qutrit system as well as a two qubit system subjected to noise. A general method is formally derived for an N-dimensional quantum system and the difficulties in applying the method in real life systems is discussed.

We identify the center sets of certain classes of graphs namely, Block graphs, $K_{m,n}$, $K_n-e$, wheel graphs, odd cycles and symmetric even graphs and enumerate them for many of these graph classes. We also introduce the concept of center number which is defined as the number of distinct center sets of a graph and determine the center number of some graph classes.
