The pair production cross sections and the effective form factors of $Σ$ are measured in eleven $Σ^{+}\barΣ^{-}$ invariant mass intervals from threshold to 3.04 GeV/$c^2$. The results are consistent with the previous results from Belle and BESIII. Furthermore, the branching fractions of the decays $J/ψ\toΣ^{+}\barΣ^{-}$ and $ψ(3686)\toΣ^{+}\barΣ^{-}$ are determined and the obtained results are consistent with the previous results of BESIII.

With the continuous growth in the number of parameters of transformer-based pretrained language models (PLMs), particularly the emergence of large language models (LLMs) with billions of parameters, many natural language processing (NLP) tasks have demonstrated remarkable success. However, the enormous size and computational demands of these models pose significant challenges for adapting them to specific downstream tasks, especially in environments with limited computational resources. Parameter Efficient Fine-Tuning (PEFT) offers an effective solution by reducing the number of fine-tuning parameters and memory usage while achieving comparable performance to full fine-tuning. The demands for fine-tuning PLMs, especially LLMs, have led to a surge in the development of PEFT methods, as depicted in Fig. 1. In this paper, we present a comprehensive and systematic review of PEFT methods for PLMs. We summarize these PEFT methods, discuss their applications, and outline future directions. Furthermore, we conduct experiments using several representative PEFT methods to better understand their effectiveness in parameter efficiency and memory efficiency. By offering insights into the latest advancements and practical applications, this survey serves as an invaluable resource for researchers and practitioners seeking to navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by PEFT in the context of PLMs.

Large-scale cloud systems play a pivotal role in modern IT infrastructure. However, incidents occurring within these systems can lead to service disruptions and adversely affect user experience. To swiftly resolve such incidents, on-call engineers depend on crafting domain-specific language (DSL) queries to analyze telemetry data. However, writing these queries can be challenging and time-consuming. This paper presents a thorough empirical study on the utilization of queries of KQL, a DSL employed for incident management in a large-scale cloud management system at Microsoft. The findings obtained underscore the importance and viability of KQL queries recommendation to enhance incident management.
Building upon these valuable insights, we introduce Xpert, an end-to-end machine learning framework that automates KQL recommendation process. By leveraging historical incident data and large language models, Xpert generates customized KQL queries tailored to new incidents. Furthermore, Xpert incorporates a novel performance metric called Xcore, enabling a thorough evaluation of query quality from three comprehensive perspectives. We conduct extensive evaluations of Xpert, demonstrating its effectiveness in offline settings. Notably, we deploy Xpert in the real production environment of a large-scale incident management system in Microsoft, validating its efficiency in supporting incident management. To the best of our knowledge, this paper represents the first empirical study of its kind, and Xpert stands as a pioneering DSL query recommendation framework designed for incident management.

Quantum Federated Learning (QFL) enables collaborative training of a Quantum Machine Learning (QML) model among multiple clients possessing quantum computing capabilities, without the need to share their respective local data. However, the limited availability of quantum computing resources poses a challenge for each client to acquire quantum computing capabilities. This raises a natural question: Can quantum computing capabilities be deployed on the server instead? In this paper, we propose a QFL framework specifically designed for classical clients, referred to as CC-QFL, in response to this question. In each iteration, the collaborative training of the QML model is assisted by the shadow tomography technique, eliminating the need for quantum computing capabilities of clients. Specifically, the server constructs a classical representation of the QML model and transmits it to the clients. The clients encode their local data onto observables and use this classical representation to calculate local gradients. These local gradients are then utilized to update the parameters of the QML model. We evaluate the effectiveness of our framework through extensive numerical simulations using handwritten digit images from the MNIST dataset. Our framework provides valuable insights into QFL, particularly in scenarios where quantum computing resources are scarce.

The ratio of neutral-to-charged kaon form factors at large momentum transfers ($12~{\rm GeV}^2<Q^2<25~{\rm GeV}^2$) is determined to be $0.21\pm 0.01$, which indicates a small but significant effect of flavor-SU(3) breaking in the kaon wave function, and consequently excludes the possibility that flavor-SU(3) breaking is the primary reason for the strong experimental violation of the pQCD prediction $|F(π^{\pm})|/|F(K^{\pm})|=f^2_π/f^2_{K}$, where $F(π^{\pm})$ and $F(K^{\pm})$ are the form factors, and $f_π$ and $f_{K}$ are the decay constants of charged pions and kaons, respectively. We also observe a significant signal for the charmless decay $ψ(3770)\to K_S^0K_L^0$ for the first time. Within a $1σ$ contour of the likelihood value, the the branching fraction for $ψ(3770)\to K_S^0K_L^0$ is determined to be ${\cal B}=(2.63_{-1.59}^{+1.40})\times 10^{-5}$, and the relative phase between the continuum and $ψ(3770)$ amplitudes is $φ=(-0.39_{-0.10}^{+0.05})π$. The branching fraction is in good agreement with the $\mathcal{S}$- and $\mathcal{D}$-wave charmonia mixing scheme proposed in the interpretation of the "$ρπ$ puzzle" between $J/ψ$ and $ψ(3686)$ decays.

Applications of Time-Fractional Schrodinger Equations (TFSEs) to quantum processes are instructive for understanding and describing the time behavior of real physical systems. By applying three popular TFSEs, namely Naber's TFSE I, Naber's TFSE II, and XGF's TFSE, to a basic open system model of a two-level system (qubit) coupled resonantly to a dissipative environment, we solve exactly for Time-Fractional Single Qubit Open Systems (TFSQOSs). However, the three TFSEs perform badly for the following reasons. On the other hand, in the respective frameworks of the three TFSEs, the total probability for obtaining the system in a single-qubit state is not equal to one with time at fractional order, implying that time-fractional quantum mechanics violates quantum mechanical probability conservation. On the other hand, the latter two TFSEs are not capable of describing the non-Markovian dynamics of the system at all fractional order, only at some fractional order. To address this, we introduce a well-performed TFSE by constructing a new analytic continuation of time combined with the conformable fractional derivative, in which for all fractional order, not only does the total probability for the system equal one at all times but also the non-Markovian features can be observed throughout the time evolution of the system. Furthermore, we study the performances of the four TFSEs applying to an open system model of two isolated qubits each locally interacting with its dissipative environment. By deriving the exact solutions for time-fractional two qubits open systems, we show that our TFSE still possesses the above two advantages compared with the other three TFSEs.

Non-zero cross sections are observed very close to the production threshold. The measured Born cross sections of $e^+e^-\to Λ_{c}^+ \barΛ_{c}(2625)^- + \rm{c.c.}$ are about $2\sim3$ times greater than those of $e^+e^-\to Λ_{c}^+ \barΛ_{c}(2595)^- + \rm{c.c.}$, thereby indicating that the exotic structure potentially exists in the excited charmed baryons. The Born cross sections are $15.6\pm3.1\pm0.9$ pb and $29.4\pm3.7\pm2.7$ pb for $e^+e^-\to Λ_{c}^+ \barΛ_{c}(2595)^- + \rm{c.c.}$, and are $43.4\pm4.0\pm4.1$ pb and $76.8\pm6.5\pm4.2$ pb for $e^+e^-\to Λ_{c}^+ \barΛ_{c}(2625)^- +\rm{c.c.}$ at $\sqrt s=4918.0$ and 4950.9 MeV, respectively. Based on the polar angle distributions of the $\barΛ_{c}(2625)^-$ and $Λ_{c}(2625)^+$, the form-factor ratios $\sqrt{|G_{E}|^2 + 3|G_{M}|^2}/|G_{C}|$ are determined for $e^+e^-\to Λ_{c}^+ \barΛ_{c}(2625)^- + \rm{c.c.}$ for the first time, which are $5.95\pm4.07\pm0.15$ and $0.94\pm0.32\pm0.02$ at $\sqrt s=4918.0$ and 4950.9 MeV, respectively. All of these first uncertainties are statistical and second systematic.

The Quantum Alternating Operator Ansatz (QAOA+) is one of the Variational Quantum Algorithm (VQA) specifically developed to tackle combinatorial optimization problems by exploring the feasible space in search of a target solution. For constrained optimization problems with unconstrained variables, which we call Unconstrained-Variables Problems (UVPs), the mixed operators in the QAOA+ circuit are applied to the constrained variables, while the single-qubit rotating gates $R_X$ operate on the unconstrained variables. The expressibility of this circuit is limited by the shortage of two-qubit gates and the parameter sharing in the $R_X$, which consequently impacts the performance of QAOA+ for solving UVPs. Therefore, it is crucial to develop a suitable ansatz for UVPs. In this paper, we propose the Variational Quantum Algorithm-Preserving Feasible Space (VQA-PFS) ansatz, exemplified by the Uncapacitated Facility Location Problem (UFLP), that applies mixed operators on constrained variables while employing Hardware-Efficient Ansatz (HEA) on unconstrained variables. The numerical results demonstrate that VQA-PFS significantly enhances the success probability and exhibits faster convergence compared to QAOA+, Quantum Approximation Optimization Algorithm (QAOA), and HEA. Furthermore, VQA-PFS reduces the circuit depth dramatically in comparison to QAOA+ and QAOA. Our algorithm is general and instructive in tackling UVPs.

Transferability of adversarial examples on image classification has been systematically explored, which generates adversarial examples in black-box mode. However, the transferability of adversarial examples on semantic segmentation has been largely overlooked. In this paper, we propose an effective two-stage adversarial attack strategy to improve the transferability of adversarial examples on semantic segmentation, dubbed TranSegPGD. Specifically, at the first stage, every pixel in an input image is divided into different branches based on its adversarial property. Different branches are assigned different weights for optimization to improve the adversarial performance of all pixels. We assign high weights to the loss of the hard-to-attack pixels to misclassify all pixels. At the second stage, the pixels are divided into different branches based on their transferable property which is dependent on Kullback-Leibler divergence. Different branches are assigned different weights for optimization to improve the transferability of the adversarial examples. We assign high weights to the loss of the high-transferability pixels to improve the transferability of adversarial examples. Extensive experiments with various segmentation models are conducted on PASCAL VOC 2012 and Cityscapes datasets to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The proposed adversarial attack method can achieve state-of-the-art performance.

We propose a method to determine the effective potential of QCD from the gap equation, by introducing the homotopy method between the solutions of the equation of motion. Via this method, the effective potential beyond the bare vertex approximation is obtained, which then generalizes the Cornwall, Jackiw and Tomboulis (CJT) effective potential for the bilocal composite operators. Moreover, the extended effective potential is set to be a function of self energy instead of the propagator, which is the key point for the potential to be bounded from below. We then investigate the extended effective potential in the cases of phase transition of the QCD vacuum with a small current quark mass, and the first-order phase transition of QCD at finite temperature and high baryon chemical potential. In the former case, the effective potential shows as an inflection point at the critical mass where the multiple solutions of the Dyson-Schwinger equation (DSE) vanishes, which is consistent with that obtained by solving the DSE directly. For the latter case, the in-medium properties, such as the latent heat and the difference of trace anomaly, of QCD is obtained.

Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown impressive abilities in natural language understanding and generation, leading to their widespread use in applications such as chatbots and virtual assistants. However, existing LLM frameworks face limitations in handling domain-specific data analytics tasks with rich data structures. Moreover, they struggle with flexibility to meet diverse user requirements. To address these issues, TaskWeaver is proposed as a code-first framework for building LLM-powered autonomous agents. It converts user requests into executable code and treats user-defined plugins as callable functions. TaskWeaver provides support for rich data structures, flexible plugin usage, and dynamic plugin selection, and leverages LLM coding capabilities for complex logic. It also incorporates domain-specific knowledge through examples and ensures the secure execution of generated code. TaskWeaver offers a powerful and flexible framework for creating intelligent conversational agents that can handle complex tasks and adapt to domain-specific scenarios. The code is open sourced at https://github.com/microsoft/TaskWeaver/.

Frequency-dependent nonlinear process in microresonators is widely acknowledged, but there is no theory available to calculate the conversion efficiency for each resonance of the ring, except for the phase-matching one. Similarly for azimuth-dependent nonlinear process in birefringent rings, there is a lack of theory to analysis the conversion efficiency for each azimuth of the ring. Consequently, it leads to old-fashioned or ill-considered coupling position and inefficient energy conversion in birefringent microrings. Here, we introduce spatio-temporal coupled-mode equation to describe mode spatial properties in the cavity, compensating for the deficiency of temporal coupled-mode equation in describing sophisticated responses. By this equation, we find that over a wide frequency range, the extremely strong second-harmonic generation can be achieved at different azimuth under different pumps in an X-cut lithium niobate microring, which is important for realizing an efficient entangled quantum light source, for example. This work will provide new ideas and guidelines for design and applications of monolithic birefringent photonic integrated circuits with high efficiency.

Investigating the temperature and density structures of gas in massive protoclusters is crucial for understanding the chemical properties therein. In this study, we present observations of the continuum and thioformaldehyde (H2CS) lines at 345 GHz of 11 massive protoclusters using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) telescope. High spatial resolution and sensitivity observations have detected 145 continuum cores from the 11 sources. H2CS line transitions are observed in 72 out of 145 cores, including line-rich cores, warm cores and cold cores. The H2 column densities of the 72 cores are estimated from the continuum emission which are larger than the density threshold value for star formation, suggesting that H2CS can be widely distributed in star-forming cores with different physical environments. Rotation temperature and column density of H2CS are derived by use of the XCLASS software. The results show the H2CS abundances increase as temperature rises and higher gas temperatures are usually associated with higher H2CS column densities. The abundances of H2CS are positively correlated with its column density, suggesting that the H2CS abundances are enhanced from cold cores, warm cores to line-rich cores in star forming regions.

The explosion of data has resulted in more and more associated text being transmitted along with images. Inspired by from distributed source coding, many works utilize image side information to enhance image compression. However, existing methods generally do not consider using text as side information to enhance perceptual compression of images, even though the benefits of multimodal synergy have been widely demonstrated in research. This begs the following question: How can we effectively transfer text-level semantic dependencies to help image compression, which is only available to the decoder? In this work, we propose a novel deep image compression method with text-guided side information to achieve a better rate-perception-distortion tradeoff. Specifically, we employ the CLIP text encoder and an effective Semantic-Spatial Aware block to fuse the text and image features. This is done by predicting a semantic mask to guide the learned text-adaptive affine transformation at the pixel level. Furthermore, we design a text-conditional generative adversarial networks to improve the perceptual quality of reconstructed images. Extensive experiments involving four datasets and ten image quality assessment metrics demonstrate that the proposed approach achieves superior results in terms of rate-perception trade-off and semantic distortion.

In this paper, we propose a progressive learning paradigm for transformer-based variable-rate image compression. Our approach covers a wide range of compression rates with the assistance of the Layer-adaptive Prompt Module (LPM). Inspired by visual prompt tuning, we use LPM to extract prompts for input images and hidden features at the encoder side and decoder side, respectively, which are fed as additional information into the Swin Transformer layer of a pre-trained transformer-based image compression model to affect the allocation of attention region and the bits, which in turn changes the target compression ratio of the model. To ensure the network is more lightweight, we involves the integration of prompt networks with less convolutional layers. Exhaustive experiments show that compared to methods based on multiple models, which are optimized separately for different target rates, the proposed method arrives at the same performance with 80% savings in parameter storage and 90% savings in datasets. Meanwhile, our model outperforms all current variable bitrate image methods in terms of rate-distortion performance and approaches the state-of-the-art fixed bitrate image compression methods trained from scratch.

It has been proved by Limic and Volkov that for the VRRW on a complete-like graph $K_d \cup \partial K_d$, the asymptotic frequency of visits is uniform over the non-leaf vertices. We give short proofs of those results by establishing a stochastic approximation result for the cVRRW on complete-like graphs. We also prove that almost surely, the number of visits to each leaf up to time n divided by $n^{\frac{1}{d-1}}$ converges to a non-zero limit. We solve a conjecture by Limic and Volkov on the rate of convergence in the case of the complete graph.

We present the first observation of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $Λ_c^+ \rightarrow ΛK^+π^0$ with a significance of $5.7σ$ and the first evidence of $Λ_c^+ \rightarrow ΛK^+π^+π^-$ decay with a significance of $3.1σ$, based on $e^+e^-$ annihilation data recorded by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of $6.4~{\rm fb^{-1}}$, in the center-of-mass energy range from $4.600~{\rm GeV}$ to $4.950~{\rm GeV}$. We determine the branching fractions of $Λ_c^+ \rightarrow ΛK^+π^0$ and $Λ_c^+ \rightarrow ΛK^+π^+π^-$ relative to their Cabibbo-favored counterparts to be $\frac{\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+ \rightarrow ΛK^+π^0)}{\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+ \rightarrow Λπ^+π^0)} = (2.09\pm0.39_{\mathrm{stat.}}\pm0.07_{\mathrm{syst.}}) \times 10^{-2}$ and $\frac{\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+ \rightarrow ΛK^+π^+π^-)}{\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+ \rightarrow Λπ^+π^+π^-)} = (1.13\pm0.41_{\mathrm{stat.}}\pm0.06_{\mathrm{syst.}}) \times 10^{-2}$, respectively. Moreover, by combining our measured result with the world average of $\mathcal{B}(Λ^+_c\to Λπ^+π^0)$, we obtain the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+ \to ΛK^+π^0) = (1.49\pm0.27_{\mathrm{stat.}}\pm0.05_{\mathrm{syst.}}\pm0.08_{\mathrm{ref.}}) \times 10^{-3}$. This result significantly departs from theoretical predictions based on quark $SU(3)$ flavor symmetry, which is underpinned by the presumption of meson pair $S$-wave amplitude dominance.

We conducted a Ka-band (26.1--35 GHz) line survey towards Orion KL using the TianMa 65-m Radio Telescope (TMRT). It is the first blind line survey in the Ka band, and achieves a sensitivity of mK level (1--3 mK at a spectral resolution of $\sim$1 km s$^{-1}$). In total, 592 Gaussian features are extracted. Among them, 257 radio recombination lines (RRLs) are identified. The maximum $Δn$ of RRLs of H, He and C are 20, 15, and 5, respectively. Through stacking, we have detected the $β$ lines of ion RRLs (RRLs of C$^+$ with possible contribution of other ions like O$^+$) for the first time, and tentative signal of the $γ$ lines of ion RRLs can also be seen on the stacked spectrum. Besides, 318 other line features were assigned to 37 molecular species, and ten of these species were not detected in the Q-band survey of TMRT. The vibrationally excited states of nine species were also detected. Emission of most species can be modeled under LTE. A number of transitions of E-CH3OH ($J_2-J_1$) display maser effects, which are confirmed by our modeling, and besides the bum** peak at $J\sim 6$ there is another peak at $J\sim 13$. Methylcyanoacetylene (CH$_3$C$_3$N) is detected in Orion KL for the first time. This work emphasizes that the Ka band, which was long-ignored for spectral line surveys, is very useful for surveying RRLs and molecular lines simultaneously.

The QUARKS survey is observing 139 massive clumps covered by 156 pointings at ALMA Band 6 ($λ\sim$ 1.3 mm). In conjunction with data obtained from the ALMA-ATOMS survey at Band 3 ($λ\sim$ 3 mm), QUARKS aims to carry out an unbiased statistical investigation of massive star formation process within protoclusters down to a scale of 1000 au. This overview paper describes the observations and data reduction of the QUARKS survey, and gives a first look at an exemplar source, the mini-starburst Sgr B2(M). The wide-bandwidth (7.5 GHz) and high-angular-resolution (~0.3 arcsec) observations of the QUARKS survey allow to resolve much more compact cores than could be done by the ATOMS survey, and to detect previously unrevealed fainter filamentary structures. The spectral windows cover transitions of species including CO, SO, N$_2$D$^+$, SiO, H$_{30}α$, H$_2$CO, CH$_3$CN and many other complex organic molecules, tracing gas components with different temperatures and spatial extents. QUARKS aims to deepen our understanding of several scientific topics of massive star formation, such as the mass transport within protoclusters by (hub-)filamentary structures, the existence of massive starless cores, the physical and chemical properties of dense cores within protoclusters, and the feedback from already formed high-mass young protostars.

Evidence for the singly Cabibbo suppressed decay $Λ_c^+\to pπ^0$ is reported for the first time with a statistical significance of $3.7σ$ based on 6.0 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.843 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The absolute branching fraction of $Λ_c^+\to pπ^0$ is measured to be $(1.56^{+0.72}_{-0.58}\pm0.20)\times 10^{-4}$. Combining with the branching fraction of $Λ_c^+\to nπ^+$, $(6.6\pm1.3)\times10^{-4}$, the ratio of the branching fractions of $Λ_c^+\to nπ^+$ and $Λ_c^+\to pπ^0$ is calculated to be $3.2^{+2.2}_{-1.2}$. As an important input for the theoretical models describing the decay mechanisms of charmed baryons, our result indicates that the non-factorizable contributions play an essential role and their interference with the factorizable contributions should not be significant. In addition, the absolute branching fraction of $Λ_c^+\to pη$ is measured to be $(1.63\pm0.31_{\rm stat}\pm0.11_{\rm syst}) \times10^{-3}$.

The combined result is $\mathcal{B}(J\!/\!ψ\rightarrow \bar{p} Σ^{+} K_{S}^{0} +c.c.)=(2.725 \pm 0.009 \pm 0.050) \times 10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. Scoring systems are commonly seen for platforms in the era of big data. From credit scoring systems in financial services to membership scores in E-commerce shop** platforms, platform managers use such systems to guide users towards the encouraged activity pattern, and manage resources more effectively and more efficiently thereby. To establish such scoring systems, several "empirical criteria" are firstly determined, followed by dedicated top-down design for each factor of the score, which usually requires enormous effort to adjust and tune the scoring function in the new application scenario. What's worse, many fresh projects usually have no ground-truth or any experience to evaluate a reasonable scoring system, making the designing even harder. To reduce the effort of manual adjustment of the scoring function in every new scoring system, we innovatively study the scoring system from the preset empirical criteria without any ground truth, and propose a novel framework to improve the system from scratch. In this paper, we propose a "counter-empirical attacking" mechanism that can generate "attacking" behavior traces and try to break the empirical rules of the scoring system. Then an adversarial "enhancer" is applied to evaluate the scoring system and find the improvement strategy. By training the adversarial learning problem, a proper scoring function can be learned to be robust to the attacking activity traces that are trying to violate the empirical criteria. Extensive experiments have been conducted on two scoring systems including a shared computing resource platform and a financial credit system. The experimental results have validated the effectiveness of our proposed framework.

Recent advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) have revolutionized decision-making by breaking down complex problems into more manageable language sequences referred to as "thoughts". An effective thought design should consider three key perspectives: performance, efficiency, and flexibility. However, existing thought can at most exhibit two of these attributes. To address these limitations, we introduce a novel thought prompting approach called "Everything of Thoughts" (XoT) to defy the law of "Penrose triangle of existing thought paradigms. XoT leverages pretrained reinforcement learning and Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS) to incorporate external domain knowledge into thoughts, thereby enhancing LLMs' capabilities and enabling them to generalize to unseen problems efficiently. Through the utilization of the MCTS-LLM collaborative thought revision framework, this approach autonomously produces high-quality comprehensive cognitive map**s with minimal LLM interactions. Additionally, XoT empowers LLMs to engage in unconstrained thinking, allowing for flexible cognitive map**s for problems with multiple solutions. We evaluate XoT on several challenging multi-solution problem-solving tasks, including Game of 24, 8-Puzzle, and Pocket Cube. Our results demonstrate that XoT significantly outperforms existing approaches. Notably, XoT can yield multiple solutions with just one LLM call, showcasing its remarkable proficiency in addressing complex problems across diverse domains.

Solving optimization problems with high performance is the target of existing works of Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA). With this intention, we propose an advanced QAOA based on incremental learning, where the training trajectory is proactively segmented into incremental phases. Taking the MaxCut problem as our example, we randomly select a small subgraph from the whole graph and train the quantum circuit to get optimized parameters for the MaxCut of the subgraph in the first phase. Then in each subsequent incremental phase, a portion of the remaining nodes and edges are added to the current subgraph, and the circuit is retrained to get new optimized parameters. The above operation is repeated until the MaxCut problem on the whole graph is solved. The key point is that the optimized parameters of the previous phase will be reused in the initial parameters of the current phase. Numerous simulation experiments show our method has superior performance on Approximation Ratio (AR) and training time compared to prevalent works of QAOA. Specifically, the AR is higher than standard QAOA by 13.17% on weighted random graphs.

Multiple testing is an important research direction that has gained major attention in recent years. Currently, most multiple testing procedures are designed with p-values or Local false discovery rate (Lfdr) statistics. However, p-values obtained by applying probability integral transform to some well-known test statistics often do not incorporate information from the alternatives, resulting in suboptimal procedures. On the other hand, Lfdr based procedures can be asymptotically optimal but their guarantee on false discovery rate (FDR) control relies on consistent estimation of Lfdr, which is often difficult in practice especially when the incorporation of side information is desirable. In this article, we propose a novel and flexibly constructed class of statistics, called rho-values, which combines the merits of both p-values and Lfdr while enjoys superiorities over methods based on these two types of statistics. Specifically, it unifies these two frameworks and operates in two steps, ranking and thresholding. The ranking produced by rho-values mimics that produced by Lfdr statistics, and the strategy for choosing the threshold is similar to that of p-value based procedures. Therefore, the proposed framework guarantees FDR control under weak assumptions; it maintains the integrity of the structural information encoded by the summary statistics and the auxiliary covariates and hence can be asymptotically optimal. We demonstrate the efficacy of the new framework through extensive simulations and two data applications.

Tensor-valued data arise frequently from a wide variety of scientific applications, and many among them can be translated into an alteration detection problem of tensor dependence structures. In this article, we formulate the problem under the popularly adopted tensor-normal distributions and aim at two-sample correlation/partial correlation comparisons of tensor-valued observations. Through decorrelation and centralization, a separable covariance structure is employed to pool sample information from different tensor modes to enhance the power of the test. Additionally, we propose a novel Sparsity-Exploited Reranking Algorithm (SERA) to further improve the multiple testing efficiency. The algorithm is approached through reranking of the p-values derived from the primary test statistics, by incorporating a carefully constructed auxiliary tensor sequence. Besides the tensor framework, SERA is also generally applicable to a wide range of two-sample large-scale inference problems with sparsity structures, and is of independent interest. The asymptotic properties of the proposed test are derived and the algorithm is shown to control the false discovery at the pre-specified level. We demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method through intensive simulations and two scientific applications.

The Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) is an extensively studied variational quantum algorithm utilized for solving optimization problems on near-term quantum devices. A significant focus is placed on determining the effectiveness of training the $n$-qubit QAOA circuit, i.e., whether the optimization error can converge to a constant level as the number of optimization iterations scales polynomially with the number of qubits. In realistic scenarios, the landscape of the corresponding QAOA objective function is generally non-convex and contains numerous local optima. In this work, motivated by the favorable performance of Bayesian optimization in handling non-convex functions, we theoretically investigate the trainability of the QAOA circuit through the lens of the Bayesian approach. This lens considers the corresponding QAOA objective function as a sample drawn from a specific Gaussian process. Specifically, we focus on two scenarios: the noiseless QAOA circuit and the noisy QAOA circuit subjected to local Pauli channels. Our first result demonstrates that the noiseless QAOA circuit with a depth of $\tilde{\mathcal{O}}\left(\sqrt{\log n}\right)$ can be trained efficiently, based on the widely accepted assumption that either the left or right slice of each block in the circuit forms a local 1-design. Furthermore, we show that if each quantum gate is affected by a $q$-strength local Pauli channel with the noise strength range of $1/{\rm poly} (n)$ to 0.1, the noisy QAOA circuit with a depth of $\mathcal{O}\left(\log n/\log(1/q)\right)$ can also be trained efficiently. Our results offer valuable insights into the theoretical performance of quantum optimization algorithms in the noisy intermediate-scale quantum era.

We present ALMA sub-arcsecond-resolution observations of both continuum and molecular lines at 345 GHz towards the massive star-forming region IRAS 16351-4722 (hereafter I16351). A total of 12 dust cores were detected based on high spatial resolution observations of the continuum. Among them, a high-mass core (11.6 Msun) and a low-mass core (1.7 Msun) show abundant molecular line emissions. 164 molecular transitions from 29 species and 104 molecular transitions from 25 species are identified in the high-mass and low-mass cores, respectively. Complex organic molecules (COMs) such as CH3OH, CH3OCHO, CH3OCH3, C2H5OH, and C2H5CN are detected in the two cores. Under the assumption of local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE), rotational temperatures and column densities of the COMs are derived with the XCLASS software. The maximum rotation temperature values in the low-mass core and the high-mass core were found to be approximately 130 K and 198 K, respectively. Additionally, the line widths in the high-mass core are larger than those in the low-mass one. Abundant complex organic molecular line transitions, high gas temperatures, and smaller line widths indicate the presence of a low-mass line-rich core in the massive star formation region for the first time, while the high-mass line-rich core shows hot core property. When comparing the molecular abundances of CH3OH, CH3OCHO, CH3OCH3 and C2H5OH of the two cores with other hot cores and hot corinos reported in the literature, we further confirm that both a hot core and a low-mass line-rich core are simultaneously detected in I16351.

Three structures are observed in the line shape of the measured cross sections. A maximum-likelihood fit with $ψ(4040)$, two additional resonances, and a non-resonant component is performed. The mass and width of the first additional state are $(4219.7\pm2.5\pm4.5) \rm{MeV}/\rm{c}^2$ and $(80.7\pm4.4\pm1.4) \rm{MeV}$, respectively, consistent with the $ψ(4230)$. For the second state, the mass and width are $(4386\pm13\pm17) \rm{MeV}/\rm{c}^2$ and $(177\pm32\pm13) \rm{MeV}$, respectively, consistent with the $ψ(4360)$. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. The statistical significance of $ψ(4040)$ is $8.0σ$ and those for $ψ(4230)$ and $ψ(4360)$ are more than $10.0σ$.

The $Σ^{+}$ hyperons are produced by the collisions of $Λ$ hyperons from $J/ψ$ decays with nuclei in the material of the BESIII detector. The total cross section of $Λ+ ^{9}{\rm Be} \rightarrow Σ^+ + X$ is measured to be $σ= (37.3 \pm 4.7 \pm 3.5)~{\rm mb}$ at $Λ$ beam momenta within $[1.057, 1.091]~{\rm GeV}/c$, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. This analysis is the first study of $Λ$-nucleon interactions at an $e^+ e^-$ collider, providing information and constraints relevant for the strong-interaction potential, the origin of color confinement, the unified model for baryon-baryon interactions, and the internal structure of neutron stars.

Networked dynamic systems are ubiquitous in various domains, such as industrial processes, social networks, and biological systems. These systems produce high-dimensional data that reflect the complex interactions among the network nodes with rich sensor measurements. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm for latent dynamic networked system identification that leverages the network structure and performs dimension reduction for each node via dynamic latent variables (DLVs). The algorithm assumes that the DLVs of each node have an auto-regressive model with exogenous input and interactions from other nodes. The DLVs of each node are extracted to capture the most predictable latent variables in the high dimensional data, while the residual factors are not predictable. The advantage of the proposed framework is demonstrated on an industrial process network for system identification and dynamic data analytics.

Using $\mathcal{BR}(η_{c}(2S)\to K\bar{K}π)=(1.86^{+0.68}_{-0.49})\%$, we obtain the branching fraction of the radiative transition to be $\mathcal{BR}(ψ(3686) \to γη_{c}(2S)) = (5.2 \pm 0.3 (\rm {stat}) \pm 0.5 (\rm {syst}) ^{+1.9}_{-1.4} (extr)) \times 10^{-4}$, where the third uncertainty is due to the quoted $\mathcal{BR}(η_{c}(2S) \to K\bar{K}π)$.

The precisions of $α_0$ for $Λ\to nπ^0$ and $\barα_0$ for $\barΛ \to \bar{n}π^0$ compared to world averages are improved by factors of 4 and 1.7, respectively. The ratio of decay asymmetry parameters of $Λ\to nπ^0$ to that of $Λ\to pπ^-$, $\langle α_0 \rangle/ \langle α_{Λ-} \rangle $, is determined to be $ 0.873 \pm 0.012^{+0.011}_{-0.010}$, where the first and the second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The ratio is smaller than unity more than $5σ$, which signifies the existence of the $ΔI = 3/2$ transition in $Λ$ for the first time. Beside, we test for CP violation in $Ξ^- \to Λπ^-$ and in $Λ\to n π^{0}$ with the best precision to date.

The Born cross section lineshape of the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to K^{*}(892)^{0}\bar{K}^{0}$ is consistent with a vector meson state around 2.2 GeV with a significance of 3.2$σ$. Traffic prediction is a typical spatio-temporal data mining task and has great significance to the public transportation system. Considering the demand for its grand application, we recognize key factors for an ideal spatio-temporal prediction method: efficient, lightweight, and effective. However, the current deep model-based spatio-temporal prediction solutions generally own intricate architectures with cumbersome optimization, which can hardly meet these expectations. To accomplish the above goals, we propose an intuitive and novel framework, MLPST, a pure multi-layer perceptron architecture for traffic prediction. Specifically, we first capture spatial relationships from both local and global receptive fields. Then, temporal dependencies in different intervals are comprehensively considered. Through compact and swift MLP processing, MLPST can well capture the spatial and temporal dependencies while requiring only linear computational complexity, as well as model parameters that are more than an order of magnitude lower than baselines. Extensive experiments validated the superior effectiveness and efficiency of MLPST against advanced baselines, and among models with optimal accuracy, MLPST achieves the best time and space efficiency.
