In this work we design and analyse a Discrete de Rham (DDR) method for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. Our focus is, more specifically, on the SDDR variant, where a reduction in the number of unknowns is obtained using serendipity techniques. The main features of the DDR approach are the support of general meshes and arbitrary approximation orders. The method we develop is based on the curl-curl formulation of the momentum equation and, through compatibility with the Helmholtz-Hodge decomposition, delivers pressure-robust error estimates for the velocity. It also enables non-standard boundary conditions, such as imposing the value of the pressure on the boundary. In-depth numerical validation on a complete panel of tests including general polyhedral meshes is provided. The paper also contains an appendix where bounds on DDR potential reconstructions and differential operators are proved in the more general framework of Polytopal Exterior Calculus.

Two numerical schemes are proposed and investigated for the Yang--Mills equations, which can be seen as a nonlinear generalisation of the Maxwell equations set on Lie algebra-valued functions, with similarities to certain formulations of General Relativity. Both schemes are built on the Discrete de Rham (DDR) method, and inherit from its main features: an arbitrary order of accuracy, and applicability to generic polyhedral meshes. They make use of the complex property of the DDR, together with a Lagrange-multiplier approach, to preserve, at the discrete level, a nonlinear constraint associated with the Yang--Mills equations. We also show that the schemes satisfy a discrete energy dissipation (the dissipation coming solely from the implicit time step**). Issues around the practical implementations of the schemes are discussed; in particular, the assembly of the local contributions in a way that minimises the price we pay in dealing with nonlinear terms, in conjunction with the tensorisation coming from the Lie algebra. Numerical tests are provided using a manufactured solution, and show that both schemes display a convergence in $L^2$-norm of the potential and electrical fields in $\mathcal O(h^{k+1})$ (provided that the time step is of that order), where $k$ is the polynomial degree chosen for the DDR complex. We also numerically demonstrate the preservation of the constraint.

We present a discretisation of the 3+1 formulation of the Yang-Mills equations in the temporal gauge, using a Lie algebra-valued extension of the discrete de Rham (DDR) sequence, that preserves the non-linear constraint exactly. In contrast to Maxwell's equations, where the preservation of the analogous constraint only depends on reproducing some complex properties of the continuous de Rham sequence, the preservation of the non-linear constraint relies for the Yang-Mills equations on a constrained formulation, previously proposed in [10]. The fully discrete nature of the DDR method requires to devise appropriate constructions of the non-linear terms, adapted to the discrete spaces and to the need for replicating the crucial Ad-invariance property of the $L^2$-product. We then prove some energy estimates, and provide results of 3D numerical simulations based on this scheme.
