The main task of the Top Tracker detector of the neutrino reactor experiment Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is to reconstruct and extrapolate atmospheric muon tracks down to the central detector. This muon tracker will help to evaluate the contribution of the cosmogenic background to the signal. The Top Tracker is located above JUNO's water Cherenkov Detector and Central Detector, covering about 60% of the surface above them. The JUNO Top Tracker is constituted by the decommissioned OPERA experiment Target Tracker modules. The technology used consists in walls of two planes of plastic scintillator strips, one per transverse direction. Wavelength shifting fibres collect the light signal emitted by the scintillator strips and guide it to both ends where it is read by multianode photomultiplier tubes. Compared to the OPERA Target Tracker, the JUNO Top Tracker uses new electronics able to cope with the high rate produced by the high rock radioactivity compared to the one in Gran Sasso underground laboratory. This paper will present the new electronics and mechanical structure developed for the Top Tracker of JUNO along with its expected performance based on the current detector simulation.

The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), the first multi-kton liquid scintillator detector, which is under construction in China, will have a unique potential to perform a real-time measurement of solar neutrinos well below the few MeV threshold typical for Water Cherenkov detectors. JUNO's large target mass and excellent energy resolution are prerequisites for reaching unprecedented levels of precision. In this paper, we provide estimation of the JUNO sensitivity to 7Be, pep, and CNO solar neutrinos that can be obtained via a spectral analysis above the 0.45 MeV threshold. This study is performed assuming different scenarios of the liquid scintillator radiopurity, ranging from the most opti mistic one corresponding to the radiopurity levels obtained by the Borexino experiment, up to the minimum requirements needed to perform the neutrino mass ordering determination with reactor antineutrinos - the main goal of JUNO. Our study shows that in most scenarios, JUNO will be able to improve the current best measurements on 7Be, pep, and CNO solar neutrino fluxes. We also perform a study on the JUNO capability to detect periodical time variations in the solar neutrino flux, such as the day-night modulation induced by neutrino flavor regeneration in Earth, and the modulations induced by temperature changes driven by helioseismic waves.

The significance of polarization by combining the seven energy points is found to be 2.6$σ$ including the systematic uncertainty, which implies a non-zero phase between the transition amplitudes of the $Λ\barΛ$ helicity states. The modulus ratio and the relative phase of EM-$psionic$ form factors combined with all energy points are measured to be $R^Ψ =$ 0.71$^{+0.10}_{-0.10}$ $\pm$ 0.03 and $ΔΦ^Ψ$ = (23$^{+8.8}_{-8.0}$ $\pm$ 1.6$)^\circ$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.

The non-zero $gX^2Y$ term for the decay mode $η\toπ^+π^-π^0$ is confirmed, as reported by the KLOE Collaboration, while the other higher-order terms are found to be insignificant. Dalitz plot asymmetries in the $η\toπ^+π^-π^0$ decay are also explored and are found to be consistent with charge conjugation invariance. In addition, a cusp effect is investigated in the $η\toπ^0π^0π^0$ decay, and no obvious structure around the $π^+π^-$ mass threshold is observed.

Conventional clustering methods based on pairwise affinity usually suffer from the concentration effect while processing huge dimensional features yet low sample sizes data, resulting in inaccuracy to encode the sample proximity and suboptimal performance in clustering. To address this issue, we propose a unified tensor clustering method (UTC) that characterizes sample proximity using multiple samples' affinity, thereby supplementing rich spatial sample distributions to boost clustering. Specifically, we find that the triadic tensor affinity can be constructed via the Khari-Rao product of two affinity matrices. Furthermore, our early work shows that the fourth-order tensor affinity is defined by the Kronecker product. Therefore, we utilize arithmetical products, Khatri-Rao and Kronecker products, to mathematically integrate different orders of affinity into a unified tensor clustering framework. Thus, the UTC jointly learns a joint low-dimensional embedding to combine various orders. Finally, a numerical scheme is designed to solve the problem. Experiments on synthetic datasets and real-world datasets demonstrate that 1) the usage of high-order tensor affinity could provide a supplementary characterization of sample proximity to the popular affinity matrix; 2) the proposed method of UTC is affirmed to enhance clustering by exploiting different order affinities when processing high-dimensional data.

Recent automated machine learning systems often use learning curves ranking models to inform decisions about when to stop unpromising trials and identify better model configurations. In this paper, we present a novel learning curve ranking model specifically tailored for ranking normalized entropy (NE) learning curves, which are commonly used in online advertising and recommendation systems. Our proposed model, self-Adaptive Curve Transformation augmented Relative curve Ranking (ACTR2), features an adaptive curve transformation layer that transforms raw lifetime NE curves into composite window NE curves with the window sizes adaptively optimized based on both the position on the learning curve and the curve's dynamics. We also introduce a novel differentiable indexing method for the proposed adaptive curve transformation, which allows gradients with respect to the discrete indices to flow freely through the curve transformation layer, enabling the learned window sizes to be updated flexibly during training. Additionally, we propose a pairwise curve ranking architecture that directly models the difference between the two learning curves and is better at capturing subtle changes in relative performance that may not be evident when modeling each curve individually as the existing approaches did. Our extensive experiments on a real-world NE curve dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of each key component of ACTR2 and its improved performance over the state-of-the-art.

Three enhancements around 4.20, 4.47 and 4.67 GeV are visible. The resonances have masses of $4209.6\pm4.7\pm5.9\,{\rm MeV}/c^{2}$, $4469.1\pm26.2\pm3.6\,{\rm MeV}/c^{2}$ and $4675.3\pm29.5\pm3.5\,{\rm MeV}/c^{2}$ and widths of $81.6\pm17.8\pm9.0\,{\rm MeV}$, $246.3\pm36.7\pm9.4\,{\rm MeV}$, and $218.3\pm72.9\pm9.3\,{\rm MeV}$, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The first and third resonances are consistent with the $ψ(4230)$ and $ψ(4660)$ states, respectively, while the second one is compatible with the $ψ(4500)$ observed in the $e^{+}e^{-}\to K^{+}K^{-}J/ψ$ process. These three charmoniumlike $ψ$ states are observed in $e^{+}e^{-}\to D^{*0}D^{*-}π^{+}$ process for the first time.

We present a study of the resonant structure of the decay $D^0 \to K_{\rm L}^0π^+π^-$, using quantum-correlated $D^0\bar{D}^0$ data produced at $\sqrt{s}=3.773$ GeV. The data sample was collected by the BESIII experiment and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of $2.93$ fb$^{-1}$. This study is the first amplitude analysis of a decay mode involving a $K_{\rm L}^0$, which also results in the first measurement of the complex $\textit{U-spin breaking parameters}$ ($\hatρ$) related to various $\mathit{CP}$-eigenstate resonant modes through which the three-body decay proceeds. The moduli of the $\hatρ$ parameters have central values in a wide range from $0.4$ to $12.1$, which indicates substantial U-spin symmetry breaking. We present the fractional resonant contributions and average strong-phase parameters over regions of phase space for both $K_{\rm S}^0π^+π^-$ and $K_{\rm L}^0π^+π^-$ modes. We also report the ratio of the branching fractions between $K_{\rm L}^0π^+π^-$ and $K_{\rm S}^0π^+π^-$ decay modes and the $\mathit{CP}$-even fraction of the $K_{\rm L}^0π^+π^-$ state calculated using the U-spin breaking parameters.

The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is a large liquid scintillator detector designed to explore many topics in fundamental physics. In this paper, the potential on searching for proton decay in $p\to \barνK^+$ mode with JUNO is investigated. The kaon and its decay particles feature a clear three-fold coincidence signature that results in a high efficiency for identification. Moreover, the excellent energy resolution of JUNO permits to suppress the sizable background caused by other delayed signals. Based on these advantages, the detection efficiency for the proton decay via $p\to \barνK^+$ is 36.9% with a background level of 0.2 events after 10 years of data taking. The estimated sensitivity based on 200 kton-years exposure is $9.6 \times 10^{33}$ years, competitive with the current best limits on the proton lifetime in this channel.

We present the first measurements of the electric and magnetic form factors of the neutron in the time-like (positive $q^2$) region as function of four-momentum transfer. We explored the differential cross sections of the reaction $e^+e^- \rightarrow \bar{n}n$ with data collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII accelerator, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 354.6 pb$^{-1}$ in total at twelve center-of-mass energies between $\sqrt{s} = 2.0 - 2.95$ GeV. A relative uncertainty of 18% and 12% for the electric and magnetic form factors, respectively, is achieved at $\sqrt{s} = 2.3935$ GeV. Our results are comparable in accuracy to those from electron scattering in the comparable space-like (negative $q^2$) region of four-momentum transfer. The electromagnetic form factor ratio $R_{\rm em}\equiv |G_E|/|G_M|$ is within the uncertainties close to unity. We compare our result on $|G_E|$ and $|G_M|$ to recent model predictions, and the measurements in the space-like region to test the analyticity of electromagnetic form factors.

Using $4.5 \mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data samples collected at center-of-mass energies ranging from 4.600 to 4.698 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measured the absolute branching fraction for the inclusive semileptonic decay $Λ_c^+\rightarrow Xe^+ν_e$, where $X$ refers to any possible particle system. The branching fraction of the decay is determined to be $\mathcal{B}({\it Λ}^+_c\rightarrow Xe^+ν_e)=(4.06\pm0.10_{\rm stat.}\pm0.09_{\rm syst.})\%$. Our result improves the precision of previous measurement of $\mathcal{B}({\it Λ}^+_c\rightarrow Xe^+ν_e)$ by more than threefold. Using the known $Λ_c^+$ lifetime and the charge-averaged semileptonic decay width of nonstrange charmed mesons, we measure the ratio of inclusive semileptonic decay widths $Γ(Λ_c^+\rightarrow X e^+ν_e)/\barΓ(D\rightarrow Xe^+ν_e)=1.28\pm0.05$, where statistical and systematic uncertainties are combined.

A fit to the cross sections using a pQCD-derived energy dependent function shows no significant threshold effect. The upper limit on the measured effective form factor is consistent with a theoretical prediction within the uncertainty of 1$σ$. These results provide new experimental information on the production mechanism of $Ω$.

This sample was selected from the complete data set obtained by the Daya Bay reactor neutrino experiment in 3158 days of operation. Compared to the previous Daya Bay results, selection of IBD candidates has been optimized, energy calibration refined, and treatment of backgrounds further improved. The resulting oscillation parameters are ${\rm sin}^{2}2θ_{13} = 0.0851 \pm 0.0024$, $Δ{\rm m}^{2}_{32} = (2.466 \pm 0.060) \times 10^{-3}{\rm eV}^{2}$ for the normal mass ordering or $Δ{\rm m}^{2}_{32} = -(2.571 \pm 0.060) \times 10^{-3} {\rm eV}^{2}$ for the inverted mass ordering.

We report a search for a heavier partner of the recently observed $Z_{cs}(3985)^{-}$ state, denoted as $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}$, in the process $e^{+} e^{-}\rightarrow K^{+}D_{s}^{*-}D^{* 0}+c.c.$, based on $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at the center-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=4.661$, 4.682 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector. The $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}$ is of interest as it is expected to be a candidate for a hidden-charm and open-strange tetraquark. A partial-reconstruction technique is used to isolate $K^+$ recoil-mass spectra, which are probed for a potential contribution from $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}\to D_{s}^{*-}D^{* 0}$ ($c.c.$). We find an excess of $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}\rightarrow D_{s}^{*-}D^{*0}$ ($c.c.$) candidates with a significance of $2.1σ$, after considering systematic uncertainties, at a mass of $(4123.5\pm0.7_\mathrm{stat.}\pm4.7_\mathrm{syst.})\ \mathrm{MeV}/c^{2}$. As the data set is limited in size, the upper limits are evaluated at the 90\% confidence level on the product of the Born cross sections ($σ^{\mathrm{Born}}$) and the branching fraction ($\mathcal{B}$) of $Z_{cs}^{\prime-}\rightarrow D_{s}^{*-}D^{* 0}$, under different assumptions of the $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}$ mass from 4.120 to 4.140 MeV and of the width from 10 to 50 MeV at the three center-of-mass energies. The upper limits of $σ^{\rm Born}\cdot\mathcal{B}$ are found to be at the level of $\mathcal{O}(1)$ pb at each energy. Larger data samples are needed to confirm the $Z_{cs}^{\prime -}$ state and clarify its nature in the coming years.

Topological defects play a key role in nonequilibrium phase transitions, ranging from birth of the early universe to quantum critical behavior of ultracold atoms. In solids, transient defects are known to generate a variety of hidden orders not accessible in equilibrium, but how defects are formed at the nanometer lengthscale and femtosecond timescale remains unknown. Here, we employ an intense laser pulse to create topological defects in a 2D charge density wave, and track their morphology and dynamics with ultrafast electron diffraction. Leveraging its high temporal resolution and sensitivity in detecting weak diffuse signals, we discover a dual-stage growth of 1D domain walls within 1 ps, a process not dictated by the order parameter amplitude but instead mediated by a nonthermal population of longitudinal optical phonons. Our work provides a framework for ultrafast engineering of topological defects based on selective excitation of collective modes, opening new avenues for dynamical control of nonequilibrium phases in correlated materials.

Assigning items to owners is a common problem found in various real-world applications, for example, audience-channel matching in marketing campaigns, borrower-lender matching in loan management, and shopper-merchant matching in e-commerce. Given an objective and multiple constraints, an assignment problem can be formulated as a constrained optimization problem. Such assignment problems are usually NP-hard, so when the number of items or the number of owners is large, solving for exact solutions becomes challenging. In this paper, we are interested in solving constrained assignment problems with hundreds of millions of items. Thus, with just tens of owners, the number of decision variables is at billion-scale. This scale is usually seen in the internet industry, which makes decisions for large groups of users. We relax the possible integer constraint, and formulate a general optimization problem that covers commonly seen assignment problems. Its objective function is convex. Its constraints are either linear, or convex and separable by items. We study to solve our generalized assignment problems in the Bregman Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (BADMM) framework where we exploit Bregman divergence to transform the Augmented Lagrangian into a separable form, and solve many subproblems in parallel. The entire solution can thus be implemented using a MapReduce-style distributed computation framework. We present experiment results on both synthetic and real-world datasets to verify its accuracy and scalability.

The processes of $e^+e^-\toφχ_{c1,c2}$, $χ_{c1,c2}\toγJ/ψ$ are observed with a significance of more than $10σ$. The $\sqrt{s}$-dependent cross section of $e^+e^- \to φχ_{c1,c2}$ is measured between 4.600 and 4.951~GeV, and evidence of a resonance structure is found for the first time in the $φχ_{c2}$ process. We also search for the processes of $e^+e^-\toγX(4140)$, $γX(4274)$ and $γX(4500)$ via the $γφJ/ψ$ final state, but no obvious structures are found. The upper limits on the production cross section times the branching fraction for these processes at the 90% confidence level are reported.

Textual adversarial samples play important roles in multiple subfields of NLP research, including security, evaluation, explainability, and data augmentation. However, most work mixes all these roles, obscuring the problem definitions and research goals of the security role that aims to reveal the practical concerns of NLP models. In this paper, we rethink the research paradigm of textual adversarial samples in security scenarios. We discuss the deficiencies in previous work and propose our suggestions that the research on the Security-oriented adversarial NLP (SoadNLP) should: (1) evaluate their methods on security tasks to demonstrate the real-world concerns; (2) consider real-world attackers' goals, instead of develo** impractical methods. To this end, we first collect, process, and release a security datasets collection Advbench. Then, we reformalize the task and adjust the emphasis on different goals in SoadNLP. Next, we propose a simple method based on heuristic rules that can easily fulfill the actual adversarial goals to simulate real-world attack methods. We conduct experiments on both the attack and the defense sides on Advbench. Experimental results show that our method has higher practical value, indicating that the research paradigm in SoadNLP may start from our new benchmark. All the code and data of Advbench can be obtained at \url{https://github.com/thunlp/Advbench}.

The absolute branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(Λ^{+}_{c}\to n + X) = (32.4 \pm 0.7 \pm 1.5)\% $, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. Assuming $CP$ symmetry, the measurement indicates that about one-fourth of $Λ^{+}_{c}$ ($\barΛ_{c}^-$) decay modes with a neutron (an anti-neutron) in the final state have not been observed.

The physics potential of detecting $^8$B solar neutrinos will be exploited at the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), in a model independent manner by using three distinct channels of the charged-current (CC), neutral-current (NC) and elastic scattering (ES) interactions. Due to the largest-ever mass of $^{13}$C nuclei in the liquid-scintillator detectors and the {expected} low background level, $^8$B solar neutrinos would be observable in the CC and NC interactions on $^{13}$C for the first time. By virtue of optimized event selections and muon veto strategies, backgrounds from the accidental coincidence, muon-induced isotopes, and external backgrounds can be greatly suppressed. Excellent signal-to-background ratios can be achieved in the CC, NC and ES channels to guarantee the $^8$B solar neutrino observation. From the sensitivity studies performed in this work, we show that JUNO, with ten years of data, can reach the {1$σ$} precision levels of 5%, 8% and 20% for the $^8$B neutrino flux, $\sin^2θ_{12}$, and $Δm^2_{21}$, respectively. It would be unique and helpful to probe the details of both solar physics and neutrino physics. In addition, when combined with SNO, the world-best precision of 3% is expected for the $^8$B neutrino flux measurement.

This paper presents an experimental study on the emergence of the central recirculation zone (CRZ) in a V-shaped premixed swirling flame, using simultaneous measurement of particle image velocimetry (PIV) and CH* chemiluminescence. The results show that either increasing the Reynolds number (Re) or decreasing the equivalence ratio (Φ) would facilitate the emergence of CRZ. Further analysis demonstrates that the CRZ characteristics and its emergence are strongly influenced by the inner shear layer (ISL) surrounding the CRZ, while the swirl intensity remains unchanged. Dimensional analysis is performed to understand the underlying mechanism, suggesting the CRZ emergence is controlled by a non-dimensional parameter, Re_s=|γ|_max D/ν_s, defined based on the maximum ISL intensity (|γ|_max), the exit diameter (D), and the kinematic viscosity (ν_s) of the burnt gas. By estimating the temperature and viscosity with a simple heat-loss model, we show in the |γ|_max D-ν_s regime diagram that the cases with and without CRZ are separated by a single boundary line, corresponding to a critical Re_s of about 424. This verifies the applicability of the proposed Re_s criterion to lean-premixed V-shaped swirling flames under various conditions. Unlike most previous works that attribute the CRZ of swirling flames to vortex breakdown, the present work reveals the non-negligible effect of the ISL, especially the CRZ suppression when the ISL is weakened by flame heating.

The ratio of average cross sections for $e^+e^-\toπ^0π^0ψ_2(3823)$ over $π^+π^-ψ_2(3823)$ is determined to be $\mathcal{R}=\frac{σ[e^+e^-\toπ^0π^0ψ_2(3823)]}{σ[e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-ψ_2(3823)]}=0.57\pm 0.14\pm0.05$, which is consistent with expectations from isospin symmetry. Here and below, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The mass of the $ψ_2(3823)$ is measured to be $M[ψ_2(3823)]=3824.5\pm 2.4\pm 1.0$~MeV/$c^2$. Due to the limited statistics, the intrinsic width of the $ψ_2(3823)$ is measured as an upper limit of $18.8$~MeV at $90\%$ confidence level.

The goal of ACM MMSports2022 DeepSportRadar Instance Segmentation Challenge is to tackle the segmentation of individual humans including players, coaches and referees on a basketball court. And the main characteristics of this challenge are there is a high level of occlusions between players and the amount of data is quite limited. In order to address these problems, we designed a strong instance segmentation pipeline. Firstly, we employed a proper data augmentation strategy for this task mainly including photometric distortion transform and copy-paste strategy, which can generate more image instances with a wider distribution. Secondly, we employed a strong segmentation model, Hybrid Task Cascade based detector on the Swin-Base based CBNetV2 backbone, and we add MaskIoU head to HTCMaskHead that can simply and effectively improve the performance of instance segmentation. Finally, the SWA training strategy was applied to improve the performance further. Experimental results demonstrate the proposed pipeline can achieve a competitive result on the DeepSportRadar challenge, with [email protected]:0.95 on the challenge set. The mass range from 1.5 to 2.9~GeV is scanned for the dark photon candidate, and no significant signal is observed.
