Discovery of superconductivity at megabar (MB) pressures in hydrogen sulfide H3S, then in metal polyhydrides, starting with binary, LaH10, etc., and ending with ternary ones, including (La, Y)H10, revolutionized the field of condensed matter physics. These discoveries strengthen hopes for solution of the century-old problem of creating materials that are superconducting at room temperature. In experiments performed over the past 5 years at MB pressures, in addition to the synthesis of hydrides itself, their physical properties were studied using optical, X-ray and Mossbauer spectroscopy, as well as galvanomagnetic measurement techniques. This paper presents the major results of galvanomagnetic studies, including measurements in high static (up to 21T) and pulsed (up to 70T) magnetic fields. Measurements of resistance drops to vanishingly small level at temperatures below the critical Tc value, a decrease in the critical temperature Tc with increasing magnetic field, as well as diamagnetic screening, indicate the superconducting state of the polyhydrides. The results of measurements of the isotope effect, together with the effect of magnetic impurities on Tc, indicate the electron-phonon mechanism of electron pairing. However, electron-electron correlations in polyhydrides are by no means small, both in the superconducting and normal states. It is possible that this is precisely what accounts for the unusual properties of polyhydrides that have not yet received a satisfactory explanation, such as a linear temperature dependence of the second critical field Hc2(T), a linear dependence of resistance R(T), and a linear magnetoresistance, very similar to that discovered by P. L. Kapitza in 1929.

Layered topologically non-trivial and trivial semimetals with AFM-type ordering of magnetic sublattice are known to exhibit a negative magnetoresistance that is well correlated with AFM magnetization changes in a magnetic field. This effect is reported in several experimental studies with EuFe$_2$As$_2$, EuSn$_2$As$_2$, EuSn$_2$P$_2$, etc., where the resistance decreases quadratically with field by about $δρ/ρ\sim 4-6\%$ up to the spin-polarization field. Despite the fact that this effect is well documented experimentally, its theoretical explanation is missing up to date. In this paper we propose a novel theoretical mechanism describing the observed magnetoresistance that does not imply either topological origin of the materials, surface roughness, their potential defect structure, or electron-magnon scattering. We believe, the proposed intrinsic mechanism of magnetoresistance is applicable to a wide class of the layered AFM- ordered semimetals. The theoretically calculated magnetoresistance is qualitatively consistent with experimental data for crystals of various composition.

A comprehensive study of the vortex phases and vortex dynamics is presented for a recently discovered high-temperature superconductor ThH$_{10}$ with $\textit{T}$$_C$ = 153 K at 170 GPa. The obtained results strongly suggest a quasi two-dimensional (2D) character of the vortex glass phase transition in ThH$_{10}$. The activation energy yields a logarithmic dependence $\textit{U}$$_0$ $\propto$ ln($\textit{H}$) on magnetic field in a low field region and a power law dependence $\textit{U}$$_0$ ~ $\textit{H}$$^{-1}$ in a high field region, signaling a crossover from 2D regime to 3D collective pinning regime, respectively. Additionally, a pinning force field dependence showcases dominance of surface-type pinning in the vicinity of $\textit{T}$$_C$. Thermal activation energy ($\textit{U}$$_0$), derived within thermally activated flux flow (TAFF) theory, takes very high values above 2$\times$10$^5$ K together with the Ginzburg number $\textit{Gi}$ = 0.039 - 0.085, which is lower only than those of BiSrCaCuO cuprates and 10-3-8 family of iron based superconductor. This indicates the enormous role of thermal fluctuations in the dynamics of the vortex lattice of superhydrides, the physics of which is similar to the physics of unconventional high-temperature superconductors.

Recently it was claimed that nitrogen-doped lutetium hydride exhibited a near-ambient superconducting transition with a temperature of 294 K at a pressure of only 10 kbar, this pressure being several orders of magnitude lower than previously demonstrated for hydrides under pressure. In this paper, we investigate within DFT+U the electronic structure of both parent lutetium hydride LuH$_3$ and nitrogen doped lutetium hydride LuH$_{2.75}$N$_{0.25}$. We calculated corresponding bands, density of states and Fermi surfaces. It is shown that in the stoichiometric system the Lu-5d states cross the Fermi level while the H-1s states make almost no contribution at the Fermi level. However, with nitrogen do**, the N-2p states enter the Fermi level in large quantities and bring together a significant contribution from the H-1s states. The presence of N-2p and H-1s states at the Fermi level in a doped compound can facilitate the emergence of superconductivity. For instance, nitrogen do** almost doubles the value of DOS at the Fermi level. Simple BCS analysis shows that the nitrogen do** of LuH$_3$ can provide T$_c$ more than 100K and even increase it with further hole do**.

A comprehensive study of the vortex phases and vortex dynamics is presented for a recently discovered high-temperature superconductor YH$_6$ with T$_C$ (onset) of 215 K under pressure of 200 GPa.Thermal activation energy (U$_0$) is derived in the framework of thermally activated flux flow (TAFF) theory. The activation energy yields a power law dependence U$_0$ $\propto$ H$^α$ on magnetic field with a possible crossover at a field around 8-10 Tesla. Furthermore, we have depicted the vortex phase transition from vortex-glass to vortex-liquid state according to the vortex-glass theory. Finally, vortex phase diagram is constructed for the first time for superhydrides. Very high estimated values of flux flow barriers U$_0$(H) = 1.5-7*10$^4$ K together with high crossover fields makes YH$_6$ a rather outstanding superconductor as compared to most cuprates and iron-based systems. The Ginzburg number for YH$_6$ Gi = 3-7*10$^{-3}$ indicates that thermal fluctuations are not so strong and cannot broaden superconducting transitions in weak magnetic fields.

We studied chemical interaction of Sn with H$_2$ by X-ray diffraction methods at pressures of 180-210 GPa. A previously unknown tetrahydride SnH$_4$ with a cubic structure (${fcc}$) exhibiting superconducting properties below ${T}$$_C$ = 72 K was obtained; the formation of a high molecular ${C2/m}$-SnH$_{14}$ superhydride and several lower hydrides, ${fcc}$ SnH$_2$ and ${C2}$-Sn$_{12}$H$_{18}$, was also detected. The temperature dependence of critical current density ${J}$$_C$(T) in SnH$_4$ yields the superconducting gap 2$Δ$(0) = 23 meV at 180 GPa. SnH$_4$ has unusual behavior in strong magnetic fields: ${B,T}$-linear dependences of magnetoresistance and the upper critical magnetic field ${B}$$_{C2}$(T) $\propto$ (${T}$$_C$ - ${T}$). The latter contradicts the Wertheimer-Helfand-Hohenberg model developed for conventional superconductors. Along with this, the temperature dependence of electrical resistance of ${fcc}$ SnH$_4$ in non-superconducting state exhibits a deviation from what is expected for phonon-mediated scattering described by the Bloch-Grüneisen model, and is beyond the framework of the Fermi liquid theory. Such anomalies occur for many superhydrides, making them much closer to cuprates than previously believed.

Key experimental results on unveiling and studying properties of a multiphase state that arises in two-dimensional electron systems due to the interplay of interelectron interactions and disorder are reviewed. The review focuses on the experimental results obtained with high mobility Si-field effects structures (Si-MOS), in which the interaction effects at low carrier concentrations are most pronounced due to the strong e-e interactions, multi-valley spectrum, and the short-range character of the random potential. The reviewed effects of phase separation include features in transport, magnetotransport and thermodynamics. Consideration of a number of experimental results is supplemented with a brief review of their theoretical interpretation.

Over the past six years (2015-2021), many superconducting hydrides with critical temperatures $T_{C}$ up to 250 K, which are currently record highs, have been discovered. Now we can already say that a special field of superconductivity has developed. This is hydride superconductivity at ultrahigh pressures. For the most part, the properties of superhydrides are well described by the Migdal-Eliashberg theory of strong electron-phonon interaction, especially when anharmonicity of phonons is taken into account. The isotope effect, the effect of the magnetic field (up to 60-70 T) on the critical temperature and critical current in the hydride samples, the dependence of $T_{C}$ on the pressure and degree of do** were investigated. The divergences between the theory and experiment are of interest, especially in the field of phase stability and in the behavior of the upper critical magnetic fields at low temperatures. This article presents a retrospective analysis of data of 2015-2021 and describes promising directions for future research of hydride superconductivity.

Polyhydrides are a novel class of superconducting materials with extremely high critical parameters, which is very promising for applications. On the other hand, complete experimental study of the magnetic phase diagram for the best so far known superconductor, lanthanum decahydride LaH$_{10}$, encounters a serious complication because of the large upper critical magnetic field $\textit{H}$$_{C2}$(0), exceeding 120-160 T. Partial replacement of La atoms by magnetic Nd atoms results in a decrease of the upper critical field, which makes it attainable for existing pulse magnets. We found that addition of neodymium leads to significant suppression of superconductivity in LaH$_{10}$: each atomic % of Nd causes decrease in $\textit{T}$$_{C}$ by 10-11 K. Using strong pulsed magnetic fields up to 68 T, we constructed the magnetic phase diagram of the ternary (La,Nd)H$_{10}$ superhydride, which appears to be surprisingly linear with $\textit{H}$$_{C2}$ $\propto$ |$\textit{T}$ - $\textit{T}$$_C$|. The pronounced suppression of superconductivity in LaH$_{10}$ by magnetic Nd atoms and the robustness of $\textit{T}$$_C$ with respect to nonmagnetic impurities (e.g., Y, Al, C) under Anderson's theorem indicate the isotropic ($\textit{s}$-wave) character of conventional electron-phonon pairing in the synthesized superhydrides.

Measurements with magnetic field applied along ab crystal planes reveal meta-magnetic transition in both compounds. Numerical studies employing the Jz1-Jz2 Heisenberg model suggest that the ground state of the magnetic order in Eu subsystem for both compounds is the helical spin order with the helical angle about 2pi/5, while the meta-magnetic transition is the helix-to-fan first order phase transition.

In the study of oscillatory electron transport in high-mobility Si MOSFETs at low temperatures we observed two correlated effects in weak in-plane magnetic fields: a steep decrease of the renormalized magnetic susceptibility $χ^*(H)$ and an increase of the concentration of mobile carriers $n(H)$. We suggest a phenomenological model of the magnetic field driven redistribution between the extended and localized electronic states that qualitatively explains both effects. We argue that the redistribution is mainly caused by magnetization of the large-spin localized states with energies close to the Fermi energy $E_F$, coexisting with the majority Fermi liquid state. Our findings also resolve a long-standing disagreement between the experimental data on $χ^*$ obtained in weak ($H \sim k_BT/μ_B$) and strong ($H \sim E_F/gμ_B$) magnetic fields.

For Ta$_{1+x}$Ru$_{1-x}$Te$_4$ off-stoichiometry is shown. X-ray powder diffraction confirms that TaRhTe4 is isostructural to TaIrTe4. We show that all these compounds are metallic with diamagnetic behavior. Ta$_{1.26(2)}$Ru$_{0.75(2)}$Te$_{4.000(8)}$ exhibits an upturn in the resistivity at low temperatures which is strongly field dependent. Below $T \approx 4$K we observed signatures of the superconductivity in the TaIr$_{1-x}$Rh$_{x}$Te$_4$ compounds for $x = 0.92$. Magnetotransport measurements on all samples show weak magnetoresistance (MR) field dependence that is typically quadratic-in-field. However, for TaIr$_{1-x}$Rh$_{x}$Te$_4$ with $x\approx 0.78$, the MR has a linear term dominating in low fields that indicates the presence of Dirac cones in the vicinity of the Fermi energy. For TaRhTe$_4$ series the MR is almost isotropic. We have performed electronic structure calculations for isostructural TaIrTe$_4$ and TaRhTe$_4$ together with the projected total density of states. The main difference is appearance of the Rh-band close to the Fermi level.

This is one of the first examples of ternary high-$T_{C}$ superconducting hydrides. Our experiments show that a part of the atoms in the structures of recently discovered ${Im3m}$-$YH_{6}$ and ${Fm3m}$-$LaH_{10}$ can be replaced with lanthanum (~70 %) and yttrium (~25 %), respectively, with a formation of unique ternary superhydrides containing incorporated $La@H_{24}$ and $Y@H_{32}$ which are specific for ${Im3m}$-$LaH_{6}$ and ${Fm3m}$-$YH_{10}$. Ternary La-Y hydrides were obtained at pressures of 170-196 GPa via the laser heating of $P6_{3}$${/mmc}$ lanthanum-yttrium alloys in the ammonia borane medium at temperatures above 2000 K. A novel tetragonal $(La,Y)H_{4}$ was discovered as an impurity phase in synthesized cubic $(La,Y)H_{6}$. The current-voltage measurements show that the critical current density $J_{C}$ in $(La,Y)H_{10}$ may exceed $2500 A/mm^{2}$ at 4.2 K, which is comparable with that for commercial superconducting wires such as ${NbTi}$, $Nb_{3}$${Sn}$. Hydrides that are unstable in a pure form may nevertheless be stabilized at relatively low pressures in solid solutions with superhydrides having the same structure.

We consider various methods and techniques for measuring electron magnetization and susceptibility, which are used in experimental condensed matter physics. The list of considered methods for macroscopic measurements includes magnetomechanic, electromagnetic, modulation-type, and also thermodynamic methods based on the chemical potential variation. We also consider local methods of magnetic measurements based on the spin Hall effects and NV-centers. Several scanning probe magnetometers-microscopes are considered, such as magnetic resonance force microscope, SQUID-microscope, and Hall microscope. The review focuses on the spin magnetization measurements of electrons in non-magnetic materials and artificial systems, particularly, in low-dimensional electron systems in semiconductors and in nanosystems, which came to the forefront in recent years.

In the novel stoichiometric iron-based material RbEuFe$_{4}$As$_{4}$ superconductivity coexists with a peculiar long-range magnetic order of Eu 4f states. Using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, we reveal a complex three dimensional electronic structure and compare it with density functional theory calculations. Multiple superconducting gaps were measured on various sheets of the Fermi surface. High resolution resonant photoemission spectroscopy reveals magnetic order of the Eu 4f states deep into the superconducting phase. Both the absolute values and the anisotropy of the superconducting gaps are remarkably similar to the sibling compound without Eu, indicating that Eu magnetism does not affect the pairing of electrons. A complete decoupling between Fe- and Eu-derived states was established from their evolution with temperature, thus unambiguously demonstrating that superconducting and a long range magnetic orders exist independently from each other. The established electronic structure of RbEuFe$_{4}$As$_{4}$ opens opportunities for the future studies of the highly unorthodox electron pairing and phase competition in this family of iron-based superconductors with do**.

In a superconductor that lacks inversion symmetry, the spatial part of the Cooper pair wave function has a reduced symmetry, allowing for the mixing of spin-singlet and spin-triplet Cooper pairing channels and thus providing a pathway to a non-trivial superconducting state. Materials with a non-centrosymmetric crystal structure and with strong spin-orbit coupling are a platform to realize these possibilities. Here, we report the synthesis and characterisation of high quality crystals of Sn$_4$As$_3$, with non-centrosymmetric unit cell ($R3m$). We have characterised the normal and superconducting state using a range of methods. Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy shows a multiband Fermi surface and the presence of two surface states, confirmed by Density-functional theory calculations. Specific heat measurements reveal a superconducting critical temperature of $T_c\sim 1.14$ K and an upper critical magnetic field of $H_c\gtrsim 7$ mT, which are both confirmed by ultra-low temperature scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy. Scanning tunneling spectroscopy shows a fully formed superconducting gap, consistent with conventional $s$-wave superconductivity.

We report comprehensive study of physical properties of the binary superconductor compound SnAs. The electronic band structure of SnAs was investigated using both angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) in a wide binding energy range and density functional theory (DFT) within generalized gradient approximation (GGA). The DFT/GGA calculations were done including spin-orbit coupling for both bulk and (111) slab crystal structures. Comparison of the DFT/GGA band dispersions with ARPES data shows that (111) slab much better describes ARPES data than just bulk bands. Superconducting properties of SnAs were studied experimentally by specific heat, magnetic susceptibility, magnetotransport measurements and Andreev reflection spectroscopy. Temperature dependences of the superconducting gap and of the specific heat were found to be well consistent with those expected for the single band BCS superconductors with an isotropic s-wave order parameter. Despite spin-orbit coupling is present in SnAs, our data shows no signatures of a potential unconventional superconductivity, and the characteristic BCS ratio $2Δ/T_c = 3.48 - 3.73$ is very close to the BCS value in the weak coupling limit.

Pressure-stabilized hydrides are a new rapidly growing class of high-temperature superconductors which is believed to be described within the conventional phonon-mediated mechanism of coupling. Here we report the synthesis of yttrium hexahydride Im3m-YH$_6$ that demonstrates the superconducting transition with T$_c$ = 224 K at 166 GPa, much lower than the theoretically predicted (>270 K). The measured upper critical magnetic field B$_c$$_2$(0) of YH$_6$ was found to be 116-158 T, which is 2-2.5 times larger than the calculated value. A pronounced shift of T$_c$ in yttrium deuteride YD$_6$ with the isotope coefficient 0.4 supports the phonon-assisted superconductivity. Current-voltage measurements showed that the critical current I$_c$ and its density J$_c$ may exceed 1.75 A and 3500 A/mm$^2$ at 0 K, respectively, which is comparable with the parameters of commercial superconductors, such as NbTi and YBCO. The superconducting density functional theory (SCDFT) and anharmonic calculations suggest unusually large impact of the Coulomb repulsion in this compound. The results indicate notable departures of the superconducting properties of the discovered YH$_6$ from the conventional Migdal-Eliashberg and Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer theories.

Superconductivity was evidenced by the observation of zero resistance and a decrease of $T_C$ under external magnetic field up to 16 Tesla. This is one of the highest critical temperatures that has been achieved experimentally in any compounds, along with such materials as $LaH_{10}$, $H_3S$ and $HgBa_2Ca_xCu_2O_{6+z}$. Our experiments show that $fcc$-$ThH_{10}$ has stabilization pressure of 85 GPa, making this material unique among all known high-$T_C$ metal polyhydrides. Two recently predicted Th-H compounds, $I4/mmm$-$ThH_4$ (> 86 GPa) and $Cmc2_1$-$ThH_6$ (86-104 GPa), were also synthesized. Equations of state of obtained thorium polyhydrides were measured and found to perfectly agree with the theoretical calculations. New phases were examined theoretically and their electronic, phonon, and superconducting properties were calculated.

We report the first experimental observation of superconductivity in Cd$_3$As$_2$ thin films without application of external pressure. Surface studies suggest that the observed transport characteristics are related to the polycrystalline continuous part of investigated films with homogeneous distribution of elements and the Cd-to-As ratio close to stoichiometric Cd$_3$As$_2$. The latter is also supported by Raman spectra of the studied films, which are similar to those of Cd$_3$As$_2$ single crystals. The formation of superconducting phase in films under study is confirmed by the characteristic behavior of temperature and magnetic field dependence of samples resistances, as well as by the presence of pronounced zero-resistance plateaux in $dV/dI$ characteristics. The corresponding $H_c-T_c$ plots reveal a clearly pronounced linear behavior within the intermediate temperature range, similar to that observed for bulk Cd$_3$As$_2$ and Bi$_2$Se$_3$ films under pressure, suggesting the possibility of nontrivial pairing in the films under investigation. We discuss a possible role of sample inhomogeneities and crystal strains in the observed phenomena.

We report temperature and density dependences of the spin susceptibility of strongly interacting electrons in Si inversion layers. We measured (i) the itinerant electron susceptibility $χ^*$ from the Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations in crossed magnetic fields and (ii) thermodynamic susceptibility $χ_{\rm T}$ sensitive to all the electrons in the layer. Both $χ^*$ and $χ_{\rm T}$ are strongly enhanced with lowering the electron density in the metallic phase. However, there is no sign of divergency of either quantity at the density of the metal-insulator transition $n_c$. Moreover, the value of $χ_{\rm T}$, which can be measured across the transition down to very low densities deep in the insulating phase, increases with density at $n<n_c$, as expected. In the absence of magnetic field, we found the temperature dependence of $χ^*$ to be consistent with Fermi-liquid-based predictions, and to be much weaker than the power-law, predicted by non-Fermi-liquid models. We attribute a much stronger temperature dependence of $χ_{\rm T}$ to localized spin droplets. In strong enough in-plane magnetic field, we found the temperature dependence of $χ^*$ to be stronger than that expected for the Fermi liquid interaction corrections.

Using a two-band model with s-wave-like gaps $Δ_L \approx 3.2$\,meV and $Δ_S \approx 1.6$\,meV, the temperature dependence of the electronic specific heat can be well described. A linear magnetic field dependence of the low-temperature specific heat offers a further support of s-wave type of the order parameter. We find that a d-wave or single-gap BCS theory under the weak-coupling approach cannot describe our experiments.

We report results of systematic measurements of charge transport properties of the 20.5nm wide HgTe-based quantum well in perpendicular magnetic field, performed under hydrostatic pressures up to 15.1 kbar. At ambient pressure transport is well described by the two-band semiclassical model. In contrast, at elevated pressure, we observed non-monotonic pressure dependence of resistivity at CNP. For pressures lower than $\approx9$ kbar, resistivity grows with pressure, in accord with expectations from the band structure calculations and the model incorporating effects of disorder on transport in 2D semimetals with indirect band overlap. For higher pressures, the resistivity saturates and starts decreasing upon further increase of pressure. Above $\approx14$ kbar the resistance and hop** transport character sharply change, which may indicate formation of the excitonic insulator state. The data also reveals strong influence of disorder on transport in 2D electron-hole system with a small band overlap.

This paper discusses the synthesis, characterization, and comprehensive study of Ba-122 single crystals with various substitutions and various $T_c$. The paper uses five complementary techniques to obtain a self-consistent set of data on the superconducting properties of Ba-122. A major conclusion of the authors work is the coexistence of two superconducting condensates differing in the electron-boson coupling strength. The two gaps that develop in distinct Fermi surface sheets are nodeless in the $k_xk_y$-plane and exhibit s-wave symmetry, the two-band model represents a sufficient data description tool. A moderate interband coupling and a considerable Coulomb repulsion in the description of the two-gap superconducting state of barium pnictides favor the $s^{++}$-model.

All data clearly show the presence of (at least) two superconducting nodeless gaps. The quantitative data on the superconducting spectrum obtained by four different techniques are consistent with each other: (a) the small energy gap $Δ_S(0) \approx 1.8 - 2.5\,meV$, and the large gap energy $Δ_L(0) \approx 9.5 - 11.3\,meV$ that demonstrates the signature of an extended s-wave symmetry ($\sim~33 \%$ in-plane anisotropy), (b) the characteristic ratio $2Δ_L/k_BT_C$ noticeably exceeds the BCS value.

Bismuth chalcogenides are the most studied 3D topological insulators. As a rule, at low temperatures thin films of these materials demonstrate positive magnetoresistance due to weak antilocalization. Weak antilocalization should lead to resistivity decrease at low temperatures; in experiments, however, resistivity grows as temperature decreases. From transport measurements for several thin films (with various carrier density, thickness, and carrier mobility), and by using purely phenomenological approach, with no microscopic theory, we show that the low temperature growth of the resistivity is accompanied by growth of the Hall coefficient, in agreement with diffusive electron-electron interaction correction mechanism. Our data reasonably explain the low-temperature resistivity upturn.

More specifically, in magnetoconductivity, we found a sharp onset of the novel regime $δσ(B,T) \propto (B/T)^2$ above a density-dependent temperature $T_{\rm kink}(n)$, a high-energy behavior that "mimics" the low-temperature diffusive interaction regime. The zero-field resistivity temperature dependence exhibits an inflection point $T_{\rm infl}(n)$. In thermodynamic magnetization, the weak-field spin susceptibility per electron, $\partial χ/\partial n$ changes sign at $T_{dM/dn}(n)$. All three notable temperatures, $T_{\rm kink}$, $T_{\rm infl}$, and $T_{d M/ d n}$, behave critically $\propto (n-n_c)$, are close to each other, and are intrinsic to high-mobility samples solely, we therefore associate them with an energy scale $T^*$ caused by interactions in the 2DE system.

We studied iron-based superconductors of various families with critical temperatures covering almost all range $T_C = 9 - 53$ K. In natural arrays of contacts formed in these materials we observed intrinsic multiple Andreev reflections effect (IMARE). By using IMARE spectroscopy, we detected the two-gap superconductivity, determined the value of the large and the small superconducting gaps, and the corresponding BCS-ratios. The temperature dependencies of the large and the small gaps $Δ_{L,S}(T)$ are similar for various families of the Fe-based superconductors and could be well-fitted in the framework of the two-band model by Moskalenko and Suhl. We concluded on the extended s-wave symmetry of the $Δ_L$ order parameter (20-30 % anisotropy in k-space) and on the absence of nodes for $Δ_S$. The BCS-ratio $2Δ_L/k_BT_C \approx 5.2$ is nearly constant within the whole range of $T_C$ (this means that coupling rate is unchanged), reflecting the 20 % reduction of the $T_C^{local}$ in relation to the eigen $T_C^L$, and the large gap roughly corresponds to the energy of magnetic resonance $2Δ_L \approx E_{res}$. This result requires a special theoretical consideration. Our estimation of the relative coupling constants and eigen parameters of each condensate (in a hypothetical case of a zero interband interaction) $2Δ_L/k_BT_C^L = 4.2 - 4.8$ and $2Δ_S/k_BT_C^S = 3.5 - 4.5$ leads to indirect conclusion that namely a strong electron-phonon interaction in each condensate described in the framework of the Eliashberg theory plays the key role in the superconductivity of iron-based oxypnictides. With it, the two condensates interact weakly with each other. The observed scaling of $Δ_{L,S}$ with $T_C$, as was discussed above, is caused mainly by changing of the density of states $N_{L,S}$ in the bands, whereas Ln-O spacers act as charge reservoirs.

Charged plasma and Fermi liquid are two distinct states of electronic matter intrinsic to dilute two-dimensional electron systems at elevated and low temperatures, respectively. Probing their thermodynamics represents challenge because of lacking an adequate technique. Here we report thermodynamic method to measure the entropy per electron in gated structures. Our technique appears to be three orders of magnitude superior in sensitivity to the ac calorimetry, allowing entropy measurements with only $10^8$ electrons. This enables us to investigate the correlated plasma regime, previously inaccessible experimentally in two-dimensional electron systems in semiconductors. In experiments with clean two-dimensional electron system in Si-based structures we traced entropy evolution from the plasma to Fermi-liquid regime by varying electron density. We reveal that the correlated plasma regime can be mapped onto the ordinary non-degenerate Fermi gas with an interaction-enhanced temperature dependent effective mass. Our method opens up new horizons in studies of low-dimensional electron systems.

The recent discovery of high-temperature superconductivity in single-layer iron selenide has generated significant experimental interest for optimizing the superconducting properties of iron-based superconductors through the lattice modification. For simulating the similar effect by changing the chemical composition due to S do**, we investigate the superconducting properties of high-quality single crystals of FeSe$_{1-x}$S$_{x}$ ($x$=0, 0.04, 0.09, and 0.11) using magnetization, resistivity, the London penetration depth, and low temperature specific heat measurements. We show that the introduction of S to FeSe enhances the superconducting transition temperature $T_{c}$, anisotropy, upper critical field $H_{c2}$, and critical current density $J_{c}$. The upper critical field $H_{c2}(T)$ and its anisotropy are strongly temperature dependent, indicating a multiband superconductivity in this system. Through the measurements and analysis of the London penetration depth $λ_{ab}(T)$ and specific heat, we show clear evidence for strong coupling two-gap $s$-wave superconductivity. The temperature-dependence of $λ_{ab}(T)$ calculated from the lower critical field and electronic specific heat can be well described by using a two-band model with $s$-wave-like gaps. We find that a $d$-wave and single-gap BCS theory under the weak-coupling approach can not describe our experiments. The change of specific heat induced by the magnetic field can be understood only in terms of multiband superconductivity.

Using two experimental techniques, we studied single crystals of the 122-FeAs family with almost the same critical temperature, Tc. We investigated the temperature dependence of the lower critical field of a single crystal under static magnetic fields parallel to the axis. The temperature dependence of the London penetration depth can be described equally well either by a single anisotropic -wave-like gap or by a two-gap model, while a d-wave approach cannot be used to fit the London penetration depth data. Intrinsic multiple Andreev reflection effect spectroscopy was used to detect bulk gap values in single crystals of the intimate compound, with the same Tc. We estimated the range of the large gap value 6-8 meV (depending on small variation of and its a space anisotropy of about 30%, and the small gap 1.7 meV. This clearly indicates that the gap structure of our investigated systems more likely corresponds to a nodeless s-wave two gaps.

We have experimentally studied the renormalized effective mass m* and Dingle temperature T_D in two spin subbands with essentially different electron populations. Firstly, we found that the product (m*T_D) that determines dam** of quantum oscillations, to the first approximation, is the same in the majority and minority subbands even at the spin polarization degree as high as 66\%. This result confirms the theoretical predictions that the interaction takes place at high energies ~ E_F rather than within a narrow strip of energies E_F\pm k_BT. Secondly, to the next approximation, we revealed a difference in the dam** factor of the two spin subbands, which causes skewness of the oscillation lineshape. In the absence of the in-plane magnetic field, the dam** factor (m*T_D) is systematically smaller in the spin-majority subband. The difference, quantified with the skew factor γ= (T_{D\downarrow}-T_{D\uparrow})/2T_{D0} can be as large as 20%. The skew factor tends to decrease as B_\parallel or temperature grow, or perpendicular field decreases; for low electron densities and high in-plane fields the skew factor even changes sign. Finally, we compared the temperature and magnetic field dependencies of the magneto-oscillations amplitude with predictions of the interaction correction theory, and found, besides some qualitative similarities, several quantitative and qualitative differences. To explain qualitatively our results, we suggested an empirical model that assumes the existence of easily magnetized triplet scatterers on the Si/SiO_2 interface.

We report comprehensive (magneto)transport studies of the two-phase state in (TMTSF)2ClO4, where superconducting (SC) phase coexists with spin-density wave insulator (SDW). By tuning the degree of ClO4 anion ordering in controlled manner we drive SDW state and study the evolution of the SC spatial texture. We find that as SDW is suppressed, SC regions initially appear inside the SDW insulator in a form of filaments extended in the interlayer direction and further merge into the two-dimensional sheets across the most conducting axis of the crystal. We demonstrate that almost all our results can be explained within the soliton phase model, though with several assumptions they can also be interpreted by the creation of non-uniform deformations. We believe that the anisotropy is intrinsic to SC/SDW coexistence in quasi one-dimensional superconductors.

Using various transport and magnetotransport probes we study the coexistence of spin-density wave and superconductor states in (TMTSF)2ClO4 at various degrees of ClO4 anions ordering. In the two-phase complex state when both superconductivity and spin-density wave are observed in transport, we find prehistory effects, enhancement of the superconducting critical field, and strong spatial anisotropy of the superconducting state. These features are inconsistent with the conventional model of structural inhomogeneities produced by anion ordering transition. We reveal instead that superconductor and spin-density wave regions overlap on the temperature -- dimerization gap V phase diagram, where V is varied by anion ordering. The effect of anion ordering on (TMTSF)2ClO4 properties is thus analogous to that of pressure on (TMTSF)2X (X=PF6 or AsF6), thereby unifying general picture of the coexistence of superconductivity and spin-density wave in these compounds.

We study diffusive electron-electron interaction correction to conductivity by analyzing simultaneously $ρ_{xx}$ and $ρ_{xy}$ for disordered 2D electron systems in Si in tilted magnetic field. Tilting the field is shown to be a straightforward tool to disentangle spin and orbital effects. In particular, by changing the tilt angle we prove experimentally that in the field range $gμ_BB>k_BT$ the correction depends on modulus of magnetic field rather than on its direction, which is expected for a system with isotropic $g$-factor. In the high-field limit the correction behaves as $\ln (B)$, as expected theoretically (Lee, Ramakrishnan, Phys. Rev. B{\bf 26}, 4009 (1982)). Our data prove that the diffusive electron-electron interaction correction to conductivity is not solely responsible for the huge and temperature dependent magnetoresistance in parallel field, typically observed in Si-MOSFETs.

The BCS-ratio 2Δ_L/kTc^{local} = 5.0 - 5.9 > 3.52 (Tc^{local} is the contact area critical temperature) evidences for a strong electron-boson coupling.
