Abstract:
A high precision measurement of the branching fraction of the decay $J/ψ\to p \bar{p} η$ is performed using $(10 087 \pm 44) \times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events recorded by the {BESIII} detector at the {BEPCII} storage ring. The branching fractions of the two decays $J/ψ\to p \bar{p} η(η\to γγ)$ and $J/ψ\to p \bar{p} η(η\to π^+ π^- π^0)$ are measured individually to be…

The branching fractions of the two decays $J/ψ\to p \bar{p} η(η\to γγ)$ and $J/ψ\to p \bar{p} η(η\to π^+ π^- π^0)$ are measured individually to be $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to p \bar{p} η(η\to γγ)) = (1.480 \pm 0.001 \pm 0.024)\times\,10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to p \bar{p} η(η\to π^+ π^- π^0)) = (1.557 \pm 0.003 \pm 0.038)\times\,10^{-3}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. Both results are compatible within their uncorrelated systematic uncertainties. The combined result is $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to p \bar{p} η)=(1.495 \pm 0.001 \pm 0.023)\times\,10^{-3}$ where the first uncertainty is the combined statistical uncertainty and the second one the combined systematic uncertainty of both analyses, incorporating correlations between them. In addition, the $p \bar{p}$ threshold region is investigated for a potential threshold enhancement, and no evidence for one is observed.

For both measurements, the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. Diffusion models generate high-quality samples by corrupting data with Gaussian noise and iteratively reconstructing it with deep learning, slowly transforming noisy images into refined outputs. Understanding this data evolution is important for interpretability but is complex due to its high-dimensional evolutionary nature. While traditional dimensionality reduction methods like t-distributed stochastic neighborhood embedding (t-SNE) aid in understanding high-dimensional spaces, they neglect evolutionary structure preservation. Hence, we propose Tree of Diffusion Life (TDL), a method to understand data evolution in the generative process of diffusion models. TDL samples a diffusion model's generative space via instances with varying prompts and employs image encoders to extract semantic meaning from these samples, projecting them to an intermediate space. It employs a novel evolutionary embedding algorithm that explicitly encodes the iterations while preserving the high-dimensional relations, facilitating the visualization of data evolution. This embedding leverages three metrics: a standard t-SNE loss to group semantically similar elements, a displacement loss to group elements from the same iteration step, and an instance alignment loss to align elements of the same instance across iterations. We present rectilinear and radial layouts to represent iterations, enabling comprehensive exploration. We assess various feature extractors and highlight TDL's potential with prominent diffusion models like GLIDE and Stable Diffusion with different prompt sets. TDL simplifies understanding data evolution within diffusion models, offering valuable insights into their functioning.

We have designed a Python-based Domain Specific Language (DSL) for modeling synchronous digital circuits. In this DSL, hardware is modeled as a collection of transactions -- running in series, parallel, and loops. When the model is executed by a Python interpreter, synthesizable and behavioural Verilog is generated as output, which can be integrated with other RTL designs or directly used for FPGA and ASIC flows. In this paper, we describe - 1) the language (DSL), which allows users to express computation in series/parallel/loop constructs, with explicit cycle boundaries, 2) the internals of a simple Python implementation to produce synthesizable Verilog, and 3) several design examples and case studies for applications in post-quantum cryptography, stereo-vision, digital signal processing and optimization techniques. In the end, we list ideas to extend this framework.

The branching fraction of the decay $η_{c}(1S) \to 2(π^{+}π^{-})η$, which is found to have a strong dependence on the interference pattern between $η_c(1S)$ and non-$η_c(1S)$ processes, is measured in both destructive and constructive interference scenarios for the first time. The mass and width of the $η_{c}(1S)$ are measured to be $M=(2984.14 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.38)$ MeV/$c^{2}$ and $Γ=(28.82 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.82)$ MeV, respectively. Clear signals for the decays of the $χ_{cJ}(J=0,1,2)$ and the $η_{c}(2S)$ to $2(π^{+}π^{-})η$ are also observed for the first time, and the corresponding branching fractions are measured. The ratio of the branching fractions between the $η_{c}(2S)$ and $η_{c}(1S)$ decays is significantly lower than the theoretical prediction, which might suggest different dynamics in their decays.

Also for the first time, the transverse polarizations of the $Σ^0$ hyperons in $J/ψ$ and $ψ(3686)$ decays are observed with opposite directions, and the ratios between the S-wave and D-wave contributions of the $J/ψ, ψ(3686) \to Σ^0 \barΣ^{0}$ decays are obtained. These results are crucial to understand the decay dynamics of the charmonium states and the production mechanism of the $Σ^0-\barΣ^0$ pairs.

The uncertainties are dominated by systematic effects and the statistical uncertainties are negligible. Our results provide essential input for future analyses and precision measurements.

Evidences for $h_c \to K^+ K^- π^0$ and $h_c \to K^+ K^- η$ are found with significances of $3.5σ$ and $3.3σ$, respectively, after considering the systematic uncertainties. The branching fractions of these decays are measured to be $\mathcal{B}(h_c \to π^+ π^- π^0)=(1.36\pm0.16\pm0.14)\times10^{-3}$, $\mathcal{B}(h_c \to K^+ K^- π^0)=(3.26\pm0.84\pm0.36)\times10^{-4}$, and $\mathcal{B}(h_c \to K^+ K^- η)=(3.13\pm1.08\pm0.38)\times10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. No significant signal of $h_c\toπ^+π^-η$ is found, and the upper limit of its decay branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(h_c\toπ^+π^-η) < 4.0 \times 10^{-4}$ at 90% confidence level.

The branching fractions are ${\mathcal B}(D_s^+\to ηe^+ν_e)=(2.35\pm0.11_{\rm stat}\pm 0.10_{\rm syst})\%,$ ${\mathcal

The results are valuable for gaining a deeper understanding of $η-η^\prime$ mixing, and its manifestation within quantum chromodynamics. No significant signal is found for the decay $h_c\rightarrowγπ^{0}$, and an upper limit is placed on its branching fraction of $\mathscr{B}(h_c\rightarrowγπ^{0})<5.0\times10^{-5}$, at the 90\% confidence level.

In addition, we measure the ratio of the average cross section of $e^+e^-\toωX(3872)$ to $e^+e^-\toωχ_{c1}(ωχ_{c2})$ to be $σ_{ωX(3872)}/σ_{ωχ_{c1}}~(σ_{ωX(3872)}/σ_{ωχ_{c2}})=5.2\pm1.0_\text{stat.}\pm1.9_\text{syst.}~ (5.5\pm1.1_\text{stat.}\pm2.4_\text{syst.})$. Finally, we search for the process of $e^+e^-\toγX(3872)$, and no obvious signal is observed. The upper limit on the ratio of the average cross section of $e^+e^-\toγX(3872)$ to $e^+e^-\toωX(3872)$ is set as $σ_{γX(3872)}/σ_{ωX(3872)}<0.23$ at 90\% confidence level.

We report the first amplitude analysis of the decays $D^{0} \to π^{+} π^{-} η$ and $D^{+} \rightarrow π^{+}π^{0}η$ using a data sample taken with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.9 ${\rm fb}^{-1}$. The contribution from the process $D^{0(+)} \to a_{0}(980)^{+} π^{-(0)}$ is significantly larger than the $D^{0(+)} \to a_{0}(980)^{-(0)} π^{+}$ contribution. The ratios $\mathcal{B}(D^{0} \rightarrow a_{0}(980)^{+}π^{-})/\mathcal{B}(D^{0} \rightarrow a_{0}(980)^{-}π^{+})$ and $\mathcal{B}(D^{+} \rightarrow a_{0}(980)^{+}π^{0})/\mathcal{B}(D^{+} \rightarrow a_{0}(980)^{0}π^{+})$ are measured to be $7.5^{+2.5}_{-0.8\,\mathrm{stat.}}\pm1.7_{\mathrm{syst.}}$ and $2.6\pm0.6_{\mathrm{stat.}}\pm0.3_{\mathrm{syst.}}$, respectively. The measured $D^{0}$ ratio disagrees with the theoretical predictions by orders of magnitudes, thus implying a substantial contribution from final-state interactions.

The Lunar Gravitational-wave Antenna (LGWA) is a proposed array of next-generation inertial sensors to monitor the response of the Moon to gravitational waves (GWs). Given the size of the Moon and the expected noise produced by the lunar seismic background, the LGWA would be able to observe GWs from about 1 mHz to 1 Hz. This would make the LGWA the missing link between space-borne detectors like LISA with peak sensitivities around a few millihertz and proposed future terrestrial detectors like Einstein Telescope or Cosmic Explorer. In this article, we provide a first comprehensive analysis of the LGWA science case including its multi-messenger aspects and lunar science with LGWA data. We also describe the scientific analyses of the Moon required to plan the LGWA mission.

By requiring the $e^{+}e^{-}$ invariant mass to be consistent with a $φ(1020)$, $0.98<M(e^{+}e^{-})<1.04$ ~GeV/$c^2$, the decay $D_s^+\toπ^+φ,φ\to e^{+}e^{-}$ is observed with a statistical significance of 7.8$σ$, and evidence for the decay $D_s^+\toρ^+φ,φ\to e^{+}e^{-}$ is found for the first time with a statistical significance of 4.4$σ$. The decay branching fractions are measured to be $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+\toπ^+φ, φ\to e^{+}e^{-} )=(1.17^{+0.23}_{-0.21}\pm0.03)\times 10^{-5}$, and $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+\toρ^+φ, φ\to e^{+}e^{-} )=(2.44^{+0.67}_{-0.62}\pm 0.16)\times 10^{-5}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. No significant signal for the three four-body decays of $D_{s}^{+}\to π^{+}π^{0}e^{+}e^{-},\ D_{s}^{+}\to K^{+}π^{0}e^{+}e^{-}$, and $D_{s}^{+}\to K_{S}^{0}π^{+}e^{+}e^{-}$ is observed. For $D_{s}^{+}\to π^{+}π^{0}e^{+}e^{-}$, the $φ$ mass region is vetoed to minimize the long-distance effects. The 90$\%$ confidence level upper limits set on the branching fractions of these decays are in the range of $(7.0-8.1)\times 10^{-5}$.

We report a first study of the semileptonic decay $D^0\rightarrow K^-π^0μ^{+}ν_μ$ by analyzing an $e^+e^-$ annihilation data sample of $7.9~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. The absolute branching fraction of $D^0\to K^-π^0μ^{+}ν_μ$ is measured for the first time to be $(0.729 \pm 0.014_{\rm stat} \pm 0.011_{\rm syst})\%$. Based on an amplitude analysis, the $S\text{-}{\rm wave}$ contribution is determined to be $(5.76 \pm 0.35_{\rm stat} \pm 0.29_{\rm syst})\%$ of the total decay rate in addition to the dominated $K^{*}(892)^-$ component. The branching fraction of $D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-μ^+ν_μ$ is given to be $(2.062 \pm 0.039_{\rm stat} \pm 0.032_{\rm syst})\%$, which improves the precision of the world average by a factor of 5. Combining with the world average of ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-e^+ν_e)$, the ratio of the branching fractions obtained is $\frac{{\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-μ^+ν_μ)}{{\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-e^+ν_e)} = 0.96\pm0.08$, in agreement with lepton flavor universality. Furthermore, assuming single-pole dominance parameterization, the most precise hadronic form factor ratios for $D^0\to K^{*}(892)^{-} μ^+ν_μ$ are extracted to be $r_{V}=V(0)/A_1(0)=1.37 \pm 0.09_{\rm stat} \pm 0.03_{\rm syst}$ and $r_{2}=A_2(0)/A_1(0)=0.76 \pm 0.06_{\rm stat} \pm 0.02_{\rm syst}$.

Hidden Markov Models with an underlying Mixture of Gaussian structure have proven effective in learning Human-Robot Interactions from demonstrations for various interactive tasks via Gaussian Mixture Regression. However, a mismatch occurs when segmenting the interaction using only the observed state of the human compared to the joint state of the human and the robot. To enhance this underlying segmentation and subsequently the predictive abilities of such Gaussian Mixture-based approaches, we take a hierarchical approach by learning an additional mixture distribution on the states at the transition boundary. This helps prevent misclassifications that usually occur in such states. We find that our framework improves the performance of the underlying Gaussian Mixture-based approach, which we evaluate on various interactive tasks such as handshaking and fistbumps.

This paper proposes a framework for generating kinematically constrained human-like bimanual robot motions to ensure seamless and natural robot-to-human object handovers. We use a Hidden Semi-Markov Model (HSMM) to reactively generate suitable response trajectories for a robot based on the observed human partner's motion. The trajectories are adapted with task space constraints to ensure accurate handovers. Results from a pilot study show that our approach is perceived as more human--like compared to a baseline Inverse Kinematics approach.

This article introduces idMotif, a visual analytics framework designed to aid domain experts in the identification of motifs within protein sequences. Motifs, short sequences of amino acids, are critical for understanding the distinct functions of proteins. Identifying these motifs is pivotal for predicting diseases or infections. idMotif employs a deep learning-based method for the categorization of protein sequences, enabling the discovery of potential motif candidates within protein groups through local explanations of deep learning model decisions. It offers multiple interactive views for the analysis of protein clusters or groups and their sequences. A case study, complemented by expert feedback, illustrates idMotif's utility in facilitating the analysis and identification of protein sequences and motifs.

The branching fractions are measured to be $\mathcal{B}(η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-e^+e^-)=(2.45\pm0.02(\rm{stat.})\pm0.08(\rm{syst.})) \times10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}(η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-μ^+μ^-)=(2.16\pm0.12(\rm{stat.})\pm0.06(\rm{syst.}))\times10^{-5}$, and the ratio is $\frac{\mathcal{B}(η'\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-}e^{+}e^{-})}{\mathcal{B}(η'\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-}μ^{+}μ^{-})} = 113.4\pm0.9(\rm{stat.})\pm3.7(\rm{syst.})$. In addition, by combining the $η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-e^+e^-$ and $η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-μ^+μ^-$ decays, the slope parameter of the electromagnetic transition form factor is measured to be $b_{η'}=1.30\pm0.19\ (\mathrm{GeV}/c^{2})^{-2}$, which is consistent with previous measurements from BESIII and theoretical predictions from the VMD model. The asymmetry in the angle between the $π^+π^-$ and $l^+l^-$ decay planes, which has the potential to reveal the $CP$-violation originating from an unconventional electric dipole transition, is also investigated. The asymmetry parameters are determined to be $\mathcal{A}_{CP}(η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-e^+e^-)=(-0.21\pm0.73(\rm{stat.})\pm0.01(\rm{syst.}))\%$ and $\mathcal{A}_{CP}(η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-μ^+μ^-)=(0.62\pm4.71(\rm{stat.})\pm0.08(\rm{syst.}))\%$, implying that no evidence of $CP$-violation is observed at the present statistics. Finally, an axion-like particle is searched for via the decay $η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-a, a\rightarrow e^+e^-$, and upper limits of the branching fractions are presented for the mass assumptions of the axion-like particle in the range of $0-500\ \mathrm{MeV}/c^{2}$.

These are the first measurements with momentum dependence in this energy region. Our measurement shows a significant discrepancy from calculations with the existing fragmentation functions. To address this discrepancy, a new QCD analysis is performed at the next-to-next-to-leading order with hadron mass corrections and higher twist effects, which can explain both the established high-energy data and our measurements reasonably well.

Abstract:
The Cadmium Zinc Telluride Imager (CZTI) aboard AstroSat has good sensitivity to Gamma Ray Bursts (GRBs), with close to 600 detections including about 50 discoveries undetected by other missions. However, CZTI was not designed to be a GRB monitor and lacks localisation capabilities. We introduce a new method of localising GRBs using "shadows" cast on the CZTI detector plane due to absorption and scattering by satellite components and instruments. Comparing the observed distribution of counts on the detector plane with simulated distributions with the AstroSat Mass Model, we can localise GRBs in the sky. Our localisation uncertainty is defined by a two-component model, with a narrow Gaussian component that has close to 50% probability of containing the source, and the remaining spread over a broader Gaussian component with an 11.3 times higher $σ$. The width ($σ$) of the Gaussian components scales inversely with source counts. We test this model by applying the method to GRBs with known positions and find good agreement between the model and observations. This new ability expands the utility of CZTI in the study of GRBs and other rapid high-energy transients.
