Age-Distance diagram for close-by young neutron stars
Abstract: An age--distance diagram for close-by young isolated neutron stars of different types is introduced and discussed. It is shown that such a diagram can be a useful tool for studying of populations of sources if their detectability strongly depends on age and distance.

On the nature of bimodal initial velocity distribution of neutron stars
Abstract: We propose that the bimodal nature of the kick velocity distribution of radio pulsars is connected with the dichotomy between hadronic stars ({\it i.e.} neutron stars with no quark matter content) and quark stars. Bimodality can appear due to different mechanisms of explosion which leads to the formation of two types of compact stars or due to two different sets of parameters mastering a particu… ▽ More

On the mechanism of low-mass compact object formation
Abstract: We suggest that low-mass compact objects (hadron stars, quark stars) with $M<1 M_{\odot}$ can appear only due to fragmentation of rapidly rotating proto-neutron stars. Such low-mass stars receive large kicks due to an explosion of a lighter companion in a pair of fragments, or due to dynamical ejection of one of the lighter components in the case when three bodies are formed. On the evolutionary states of neutron stars in pre-low-mass X-ray binaries
Abstract: We present a simple model for the evolutionary states of neutron stars in pre-low-mass X-ray binaries during the main sequence stage of donor stars. It is shown that for typical parameters some of the neutron stars in these systems can not accrete matter from winds of their companions in a stable way. Accretors are found if neutron stars have magnetic fields about $10^{13}$ G and higher and/or i… ▽ More

Radioquiet isolated neutron stars: old and young, nearby and far away, dim and very dim
Abstract: We briefly discuss the evolutionary path and observational appearance of isolated neutron stars (INSs) focusing on radioquiet objects. There are many reasons to believe that these sources are extremely elusive once the star surface has cooled down: their high spatial velocities, the long propeller stage and/or the very low accretion efficiency.
