Abstract:
This article extends the known restricted isometric projection of sparse datasets in Euclidean spaces $\mathbb{R}^N$ down into low-dimensional subspaces $\mathbb{R}^k, k \ll N,$ to the case of low-dimensional varieties $\mathcal{M} \subset \mathbb{R}^N,$ of codimension $N - k = ω(N)$. Applications to structured/hierarchical datasets are considered.

The present study focuses on the intrinsic properties of the SmFe10Co2-xVx (x = 0-2) alloys, which includes the SmFe10Co2 alloy, one of the most promising permanent magnets with the ThMn12 type of structure due to its large saturation magnetization (1.78 T), high Curie temperature (Tc = 859 K), and anisotropy field (12 T) experimentally obtained. Unfortunately, its low coercivity (<0.4 T) hinders its use in permanent magnet applications. The effect of V-do** on magnetization, magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy, and Curie temperature is investigated by electronic band structure calculations. The spin-polarized fully relativistic Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker (SPR-KKR) band structure method, which employs the coherent potential approximation (CPA) to deal with substitutional disorder, has been used. The Hubbard-U correction to local spin density approximation (LSDA +U) was used to account for the large correlation effects due to the 4f electronic states of Sm. The computed magnetic moments and magnetocrystalline anisotropy energies were compared with existing experimental data to validate the theoretical approach's reliability. The exchange-coupling parameters from the Heisenberg model were used for obtaining the mean-field estimated Curie temperature. The magnetic anisotropy energy was separated into contributions from transition metals and Sm, and its relationships with the local environment, interatomic distances, and valence electron delocalization were analyzed. The suitability of the hypothetical SmFe10CoV alloy for permanent magnet manufacture was assessed using the calculated anisotropy field, magnetic hardness, and intrinsic magnetic properties.

Effects of strong longitudinal color fields (SCF) on the identified (anti)particle transverse momentum ($p_T$) distributions in $ pp$ collision at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV are investigated within the framework of the {\small HIJING/BB v2.0} model. The comparison with the experiment is performed in terms of the correlation between mean transverse momentum ($\langle p_t\rangle$) and multiplicity (N$_{ch}^*$) of charged particles at central rapidity, as well as the ratios of the $p_T$ distributions to the one corresponding to the minimum bias (MB) pp collisions at the same energy, each of them normalized to the corresponding charged particle density, for high multiplicity $\mbox{(HM, N$_{ch}>100$)}$ and low multiplicity $\mbox{(LM, N$_{ch}<100$)}$ class of events. The theoretical calculations show that an increase of the strength of color fields (as characterized by the effective values of the string tension $κ$), from $κ$ = 2 GeV/fm to $κ$ = 5 GeV/fm from LM to HM class of events, respectively, lead to a ratio at low and intermediate $p_T$ (i.e., \mbox{$ 1$GeV/{\it c} $< p_{T} < 6 $ GeV/{\it c}}) consistent with recent data obtained at LHC by the ALICE Collaboration.

Atomic Force Microscopy has enabled 2D imaging at the sub-molecular level, and 3D map** of the potential field. However, fast identification of the surface still remains a challenging topic. In this paper, as a step towards implementation of such function, we introduce a control scheme and mathematical treatment of the acquired data that enable retrieval of essential information characterizing the potential field, leading to fast acquisition of images with chemical contrast. The control scheme is based on tip sample distance modulation at an angular frequency of $ω$, and null control of the ${1ω}$ component of the self excitation frequency of the oscillator. It is demonstrated that the control is robust in UHV for a frequency well as small as a few Hz/MHz, and that the mathematical treatment results in satisfactory identification of the potential field. Morse potential is chosen as a case study for identifying the Morse parameters per pixel. Atomic features with similar topography were distinguished by differences in the parameters. The decay length parameter was resolved with a resolution of 10 pm. The method was demonstrated on quenched Silicon at a scan rate comparable to normal imaging.

We compute the nuclear modification factor $R_{\rm PbPb}^{\rm D}$, and show that the above nuclear effects constitute important dynamical mechanisms in the description of experimental data. The strength of colour fields (as characterized by the string tension $κ$), partonic energy loss and jet quenching process lead to a suppression factor consistent with recent published data. Predictions for future beauty mesons measurements have been included. Ratios of strange to non-strange prompt charm mesons in central Pb + Pb and minimum bias (MB) $ p + p$ collisions at 2.76 TeV are also discussed. Minimum bias $p + p$ collisions which constitute theoretical baseline in our calculations are studied at the centre of mass energies $\sqrt{s}$ = 2.76 TeV and 7 TeV.

We use the framework of the HIJING/BB v2.0 model to simulate high-multiplicity (HM) $p+p$ collision events at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to study observables sensitive to possible collective phenomena, such as strong longitudinal color fields (SLCF) modeled by an enhanced string tension ($κ$). We focus on the hyperon/meson yield ratios at center-of-mass (c.m.) energy $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV, in the transverse momentum region, $1 < p_T < 4 $ GeV/{\it c}. For minimum bias events these ratios are well described assuming an energy dependence $κ= κ(s)= κ_{0} (s/s_{0})^{0.04} {\rm GeV/fm}$ ($κ_{0}$= 1 GeV/fm), giving a value $κ= 2$ GeV/fm at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV. We compare minimum bias (MB) events to simulated HM events assuming that $κ(MB)=2$ GeV/fm could grow to an extreme value of $κ(HM)=5$ GeV/fm that saturates the strangeness suppression factor. With this assumption the model predicts a very strong enhancement of (multi)strange baryon/meson ratios in HM events. If observed, such an enhancement could be also interpreted as a possible signature for formation in HM $p+p$ collision events of a deconfined but out of local thermal equilibrium {\em mini quark-gluon plasma} (mQGP).

Collinear factorized perturbative QCD model predictions are compared for p+Pb at 4.4A TeV to test nuclear shadowing of parton distribution at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The nuclear modification factor (NMF), R_{pPb}(y=0,p_T<20 GeV/c) = dn_{p Pb} /(N_{coll}(b)dn_{pp}), is computed with electron-nucleus (e+A) global fit with different nuclear shadow distributions and compared to fixed Q^2 shadow ansatz used in Monte Carlo Heavy Ion Jet Interacting Generator (HIJING) type models. Due to rapid DGLAP reduction of shadowing with increasing Q^2 used in e+A global fit, our results confirm that no significant initial state suppression is expected (R_{pPb} (p_T) = 1 \pm 0.1) in the p_T range 5 to 20 GeV/ c. In contrast, the fixed Q^2 shadowing models assumed in HIJING type models predict in the above p_T range a sizable suppression, R_{pPb} (p_T) = 0.6-0.7 at mid-pseudorapidity that is similar to the color glass condensate (CGC) model predictions. For central (N_{coll} = 12) p+ Pb collisions and at forward pseudorapidity (η= 6) the HIJING type models predict smaller values of nuclear modification factors (R_{pPb}(p_T)) than in minimum bias events at mid-pseudorapidity (η= 0). Observation of R_{pPb}(p_T= 5-20 GeV/c) less than 0.6 for minimum bias p+A collisions would pose a serious difficulty for separating initial from final state interactions in Pb+Pb collisions at LHC energies.

The saturation/minijet cutoff scale p0(s)and effective string tension kappa(s,A) are constrained by our previous analysis of LHC p+p data and recent data on the charged multiplicity for Pb+Pb collisions reported by the ALICE collaboration. We predict the hadron flavor dependence (mesons and baryons) of the nuclear modification factor RAA(pT)$ and emphasize the possibility that the baryon anomaly could persist at the LHC up to pT=10 GeV, well beyond the range observed in central Au+Au collisions at RHIC energies.

We study the effect of strong longitudinal color fields (SCF) in p+p reactions up to Large Hadron Collider energies in the framework of the HIJING/BBbar v2.0 model that combines (collinear factorized) pQCD multiple minijet production with soft longitudinal string excitation and hadronization. The default vacuum string tension, kappa0 = 1 GeV/fm, is replaced by an effective power law energy dependent string tension, that increases monotonically with center-of-mass energy. The exponent 0.06 is found sufficient to reproduce well the energy dependence of multiparticle observables in RHIC, Tevatron, as well as recent LHC data. This exponent is found to be only half of that predicted by the Color Glass Saturation model, lambda(CGC)=0.115, where gluon fusion multiparticle production mechanisms are assumed. In HIJING/BBbar v2.0, the rapid growth of central-rapidity density with energy is due to the interplay of copious minijet production and increasing SCF contributions. The large (strange)baryon-to-meson ratios measured at Tevatron energies are well described. A significant enhancement of these ratios is predicted up to the highest LHC energy (14 TeV). The effect of JJbar loops and SCF on baryon-anti-baryon asymmetry and its relation to baryon number transport is also discussed.

We estimate the production cross sections of hypernuclei in projectile like fragment (PLF) in heavy ion collisions. The discussed scenario for the formation cross section of hypernucleus is: (a) Lambda particles are produced in the participant region but have a considerable rapidity spread and (b) Lambda with rapidity close to that of the PLF and total momentum (in the rest system of PLF) up to Fermi motion can then be trapped and produce hypernuclei. The process (a) is considered here within Heavy Ion Jet Interacting Generator HIJING-BBbar model and the process (b) in the canonical thermodynamic model (CTM). We estimate the production cross-sections for light hypernuclei for C + C at 3.7 GeV total nucleon-nucleon center of mass energy and for Ne+Ne and Ar+Ar collisions at 5.0 GeV. By taking into account explicitly the impact parameter dependence of the colliding systems, it is found that the cross section is different from that predicted by the coalescence model and large discrepancy is obtained for 6_He and 9_Be hypernuclei.

We investigate the measurement of the distribution of away-side jet $p_T$ as a way to probe the energy loss mechanism in heavy ion collisions, and constrain the properties of the medium created in heavy ion collisions. We define an observable related to the fluctuation of the energy deposited in the medium, and show that competing models of parton energy loss give differing values and scaling of this observable. We also argue that the scaling of this observable with system size can be related to the medium's partonic density. We then give a qualitative discussion of how the measurement we suggest can be performed and used to determine the parton energy loss mechanism and possibly the system's partonic density.

Charge balance functions, which identify balancing particle-antiparticle pairs on a statistical basis, have been shown to be sensitive to whether hadronization is delayed by several fm/c in relativistic heavy ion collisions. Results from two classes of models are presented here, microscopic hadronic models and thermal models. The microscopic models give results which are contrary to recently published pi+pi- balance functions from the STAR collaboration, whereas the thermal model roughly reproduce the experimental results. This suggests that charge conservation is local at breakup, which is in line with expectations for a delayed hadronization. Predictions are also presented for balance functions binned as a function of Q_inv.

We show that an unambiguous way of determining the universal limiting fragmentation region is to consider the derivative ($d^2n/dη^2$) of the pseudo-rapidity distribution per participant pair.
In addition, we find that the transition region between the fragmentation and the central plateau regions exhibits a second kind of universal behavior that is only apparent in $d^2n/dη^2$.
The $\sqrts$ dependence of the height of the central plateau $(dn/dη)_{η=0}$ and the total charged particle multiplicity $n_{\rm total}$ critically depend on the behavior of this universal transition curve.
Analyzing available RHIC data, we show that $(dn/dη)_{η=0}$ can be bounded by $\ln^2 s$ and $n_{\rm total}$ can be bounded by $\ln^3 s$.
We also show that the deuteron-gold data from RHIC has the exactly same features as the gold-gold data indicating that these universal behaviors are a feature of the initial state parton-nucleus interactions and not a consequence of final state interactions.
Predictions for LHC energy are also given.

The original default mini-jet scale p_0=2 GeV/c and energy loss, dE/dx=2 GeV/fm in HIJING lead to a too rapid growth of the multiplicity with energy. We show that a slight increase of p_0 from the default 2.0 GeV/c at sqrt(s)=130A GeV to 2.2 GeV/c at sqrt{s}=200A GeV is sufficient to account for the bulk observables. Jet quenching of pi^0 above p_T>4 GeV/c at 200A GeV is found to be well reproduced in central Au+Au by the original HIJING default prediction. However, the effective surface emission in the HIJING model formulation of energy loss over-predicts the quenching in more peripheral collisions. Neither HIJING nor HIJING/B{bar}B can account for the observed anomalous excess of moderate p_T<4 GeV/c baryons. The agreement of RQMD with data in this p_T region is shown to be fortuitous because, without mini-jets, it fails to reproduce the p+p spectrum.

We study the event-by-event fluctuations of the charged particles and compare the results of different Monte-Carlo Generators (MCG): VNIb, HIJING, HIJING/B${\bar B}$ and RQMD. We find that the $D$-measure can be used to distinguish between the different gluon populations that are present in the MCG models. On the other hand, the value of the $D$-measure shows high sensitivity to the rescattering effects in VNIb model, but lower sensitivity to the rescattering effects in RQMD model. We also find that the $D$-measures from AA are consistent with the $D$-measures from $pp$ for all generators except VNIb. Therefore, any deviation among the values of $D$-measure for different impact parameters and between
$pp$ and $AA$ collisions may indicate that either the rescattering effects play a key role in the interactions or there is new physics in $AA$ collisions.

The preliminary Pb data suggest that a linear dependence of the proton rapidity shift as a function of the nuclear thickness, as first observed in p+A reactions, may apply up to Pb+Pb reactions. The observed rapidity dependence of produced hyperons in both p+A and A+A reactions however cannot be explained in terms of such models without introducing additional non-linear effects.

The Comment of Gazdzicki and Heinz is flawed because their assumed baryon stop** power in $pA$ is inconsistent with data and because they ignored half the analysis based on the VENUS model. The Comment continues the misleading presentation of strangeness enhancement by focusing on ratios of integrated yields. Those ratios discard essential experimental information on the rapidity dependence of produced $Λ$ and obscure discrepancies between different data sets. Our conclusion remains that the NA35 minimum bias data on $p+S\rightarrowΛ+X $ indicate an anomalous enhancement of central rapidity strangeness in few nucleon reactions that points to non-equilibrium dynamics as responsible for strangeness enhancement in nuclear reactions.

The systematics of strangeness enhancement is calculated using the HIJING and VENUS models and compared to recent data on $\,pp\,$, $\,pA\,$ and $\,AA\,$ collisions at CERN/SPS energies ($200A\,\, GeV\,$). The HIJING model is used to perform a {\em linear} extrapolation from $pp$ to $AA$. VENUS is used to estimate the effects of final state cascading and possible non-conventional production mechanisms. This comparison shows that the large enhancement of strangeness observed in $S+Au$ collisions, interpreted previously as possible evidence for quark-gluon plasma formation, has its origins in non-equilibrium dynamics of few nucleon systems. % Strangeness enhancement %is therefore traced back to the change in the production dynamics %from $pp$ to minimum bias $pS$ and central $SS$ collisions. A factor of two enhancement of $Λ^{0}$ at mid-rapidity is indicated by recent $pS$ data, where on the average {\em one} projectile nucleon interacts with only {\em two} target nucleons. There appears to be another factor of two enhancement in the light ion reaction $SS$ relative to $pS$, when on the average only two projectile nucleons interact with two target ones.

K^{0}_{S}$ in symmetric collisions(S-S,\,\,Pb-Pb)and for $Λ,\barΛ\,\,$in asymmetric ones(S-Ag,\,\,S-Au,\,\,S-W). HIJING model predictions for coming experiments at CERN for S-Au, S-W and Pb-Pb interactions are given. The theoretical calculations are estimated in a full phase space.
