Hadron spectroscopy, the driving force of high-energy physics in its early decades, has experienced a renaissance in interest over the past 20 years due to the discovery of scores of new, potentially "exotic states" (tetraquarks, pentaquarks, hybrid mesons, glueballs), as well as the observation of many new "conventional" hadrons. The new discoveries expose our lack of understanding about hadronic states, beyond just a few low excitations of the simplest quark configurations. Even so, no single theoretical interpretation (such as hadron molecules, threshold effects, diquark compounds, or others) as yet successfully accommodates all of the new multiquark particles, while a great deal of work remains to extract signals of hybrids and glueballs from reaction-amplitude data. This document summarizes the current state of the field from both experimental and theoretical perspectives. On the experimental side, this report summarizes the current, planned, and proposed activities of LHCb and other LHC experiments, Belle II, BESIII, and GlueX, as well as the approved Electron-Ion Collider, the proposed Super Tau-Charm factory, and other future experiments. The theoretical portion provides a brief overview of multiple phenomenological approaches studied to date, progress in rigorous studies of reaction amplitudes, and advances in lattice-QCD simulations.

The interest for change detection in the field of remote sensing has increased in the last few years. Searching for changes in satellite images has many useful applications, ranging from land cover and land use analysis to anomaly detection. In particular, urban change detection provides an efficient tool to study urban spread and growth through several years of observation. At the same time, change detection is often a computationally challenging and time-consuming task, which requires innovative methods to guarantee optimal results with unquestionable value and within reasonable time. In this paper we present two different approaches to change detection (semantic segmentation and classification) that both exploit convolutional neural networks to achieve good results, which can be further refined and used in a post-processing workflow for a large variety of applications.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive degenerative disorder of the central nervous system characterized by motor and non-motor symptoms. As the disease progresses, patients alternate periods in which motor symptoms are mitigated due to medication intake (ON state) and periods with motor complications (OFF state). The time that patients spend in the OFF condition is currently the main parameter employed to assess pharmacological interventions and to evaluate the efficacy of different active principles. In this work, we present a system that combines automatic speech processing and deep learning techniques to classify the medication state of PD patients by leveraging personal speech-based bio-markers. We devise a speaker-dependent approach and investigate the relevance of different acoustic-prosodic feature sets. Results show an accuracy of 90.54% in a test task with mixed speech and an accuracy of 95.27% in a semi-spontaneous speech task. Overall, the experimental assessment shows the potentials of this approach towards the development of reliable, remote daily monitoring and scheduling of medication intake of PD patients.

This paper describes a multi-modal approach for the automatic detection of Alzheimer's disease proposed in the context of the INESC-ID Human Language Technology Laboratory participation in the ADReSS 2020 challenge. Our classification framework takes advantage of both acoustic and textual feature embeddings, which are extracted independently and later combined. Speech signals are encoded into acoustic features using DNN speaker embeddings extracted from pre-trained models. For textual input, contextual embedding vectors are first extracted using an English Bert model and then used either to directly compute sentence embeddings or to feed a bidirectional LSTM-RNNs with attention. Finally, an SVM classifier with linear kernel is used for the individual evaluation of the three systems. Our best system, based on the combination of linguistic and acoustic information, attained a classification accuracy of 81.25%. Results have shown the importance of linguistic features in the classification of Alzheimer's Disease, which outperforms the acoustic ones in terms of accuracy. Early stage features fusion did not provide additional improvements, confirming that the discriminant ability conveyed by speech in this case is smooth out by linguistic data.

Virtualization is a promising technology that has facilitated cloud computing to become the next wave of the Internet revolution. Adopted by data centers, millions of applications that are powered by various virtual machines improve the quality of services. Although virtual machines are well-isolated among each other, they suffer from redundant boot volumes and slow provisioning time. To address limitations, containers were born to deploy and run distributed applications without launching entire virtual machines. As a dominant player, Docker is an open-source implementation of container technology. When managing a cluster of Docker containers, the management tool, Swarmkit, does not take the heterogeneities in both physical nodes and virtualized containers into consideration. The heterogeneity lies in the fact that different nodes in the cluster may have various configurations, concerning resource types and availabilities, etc., and the demands generated by services are varied, such as CPU-intensive (e.g. Clustering services) as well as memory-intensive (e.g. Web services). In this paper, we target on investigating the Docker container cluster and developed, DRAPS, a resource-aware placement scheme to boost the system performance in a heterogeneous cluster.

The combined analysis produces the first observation of the $B^0_s\toμ^+μ^-$ decay, with a statistical significance exceeding six standard deviations, and the best measurement of its branching fraction so far. Furthermore, evidence for the $B^0\toμ^+μ^-$ decay is obtained with a statistical significance of three standard deviations. The branching fraction measurements are statistically compatible with SM predictions and impose stringent constraints on several theories beyond the SM.

Although CP violation in the B meson system has been well established by the B factories, there has been no direct observation of time reversal violation. The decays of entangled neutral B mesons into definite flavor states ($B^0$ or $\bar{B}^0$), and $J/ψK_S^0$ or $c\bar{c} K_S^0$ final states (referred to as $B_+$ or $B_-$), allow comparisons between the probabilities of four pairs of T-conjugated transitions, for example, $\bar{B}^0 \rightarrow B_-$ and $B_- \rightarrow \bar{B}^0$, as a function of the time difference between the two B decays. Using 468 million $B\bar{B}$ pairs produced in $Υ(4S)$ decays collected by the BABAR detector at SLAC, we measure T-violating parameters in the time evolution of neutral B mesons, yielding $ΔS_T^+ = -1.37 \pm 0.14 (stat.) \pm 0.06 (syst.)$ and $ΔS_T^- = 1.17 \pm 0.18 (stat.) \pm 0.11 (syst.)$. These nonzero results represent the first direct observation of T violation through the exchange of initial and final states in transitions that can only be connected by a T-symmetry transformation.

The same experiment has hinted the presence of a second new state near 2.46 GeV/c^2 in the D+_s pi^0 gamma mass spectrum. These discoveries have triggered CLEO and Belle experiments in their own search for new states coupled to D+_s meson. They have confirmed the existence of the D*_{sJ}(2317)^+ state and established the evidence for the second state denoted as D*_{sJ}(2458)^+. Belle has reported evidence for both states not only in continuum e+e- annihilations but also in B decays. These two new narrow resonances are characterized by masses significantly lower than predicted by potential models and enough to close off the most natural decay modes, thus forcing isospin-violating transitions. Their discovery has been a surprise because it contradicts the expectations of apparently established theory. This circumstance has led to a great effort on theoretical side as well.

A very general local realistic theory of single $B^{0}_{d}$ mesons and of correlated $B^{0}_{d}\bar{B^{0}_{d}}$ pairs is formulated. If these pairs are produced in the $Υ(4S)$ decay, the local realistic asymmetry for observing pairs with like and unlike flavour at different proper times remarkably differs from the quantum mechanical prediction. Asymmetric B-factories provide a powerful tool for the study of the EPR problem since the relative detection experiments are shown to be capable of a time-dependent measurement precise enough to discriminate between local realism and quantum theory.
