In this paper we compare suitability of three different semi-insulating bulk silicon carbide (SiC) materials for fabrication of radiation detectors. We prepared planar sensors with various metal contact combination and characterized detector quality by the alpha spectroscopy and I-V characteristic measurements. We observed that 4H-SiC material from the II-VI company is not suitable for radiation detector fabrication due to high concentration of vanadium do**. We also present a poor charge collection efficiency of the 4H-SiC Norstel material due to high concentration of residual impurities and we evaluated low mobility-lifetime product (alpha)= 3.5E-7 cm2/V from the alpha spectroscopy. We demonstrate that the 4H-SiC material from the Cree company is the best candidate for the production of radiation detectors. We evaluated mobility-lifetime product (alpha)= 5.4E-6 cm2/V using AuTi/SiC/TiAu contact structure.

Formation of non-standard space charge manifested by an appearance of both negatively and positively charged regions in DC biased sensors was revealed during 5 ms after switching bias. Using Monte Carlo simulations of current transients we determined enhanced electron lifetime τ = 150 ns and electron drift mobility μd = 3650 cm2/Vs. Organometallic halide perovskites (OMHPs) have undergone remarkable developments as highly efficient optoelectronic materials for a variety of applications. Several studies indicated the critical role of defects on the performance of OMHP devices. Yet, the parameters of defects and their interplay with free charge carriers remain unclear. In this study we explore the dynamics of free holes in methylammonium lead tribromide (MAPbBr3) single crystals using the time of flight (ToF) current spectroscopy. By combining the current waveform (CWF) ToF spectroscopy and the Monte Carlo (MC) simulation, three energy states were detected in the band gap of MAPbBr3. Additionally, we found the trap** and detrap** rates of free holes ranging from a few us to hundreds of us and, contrary to previous studies, a strong detrap** activity was revealed. It was shown that these traps have a significant impact on the transport properties of MAPbBr3 single crystal devices, including drift mobility and mobility-lifetime product. To demonstrate the impact of traps on the delay of free carriers, we developed a new model of the effective mobility valid for the case of multiple traps in a semiconductor. Our results provide a new insight on charge transport properties of OMHP semiconductors, which is required for further development of this class of optoelectronic devices.

The Time-of-Flight (ToF) technique coupled with semiconductor-like detectors, as silicon carbide and diamond, is one of the most promising diagnostic methods for high-energy, high repetition rate, laser-accelerated ions allowing a full on-line beam spectral characterization. A new analysis method for reconstructing the energy spectrum of high-energy laser-driven ion beams from TOF signals is hereby presented and discussed. The proposed method takes into account the detector's working principle, through the accurate calculation of the energy loss in the detector active layer, using Monte Carlo simulations. The analysis method was validated against well-established diagnostics, such as the Thomson Parabola Spectrometer, during an experimental campaign carried out at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL, UK) with the high-energy laser-driven protons accelerated by the VULCAN Petawatt laser.

The ELIMED (MEDical and multidisciplinary application at ELI Beamlines) beam line is being developed at INFN-LNS with the aim of transporting and selecting in energy proton and ion beams accelerated by laser-matter interaction at ELI Beamlines in Prague. It will be a section of the ELIMAIA (ELI Multidisciplinary Applications of laser-Ions Acceleration) beam line, dedicated to applications, including the medical one, of laser-accelerated ion beams [1,2]. A Monte Carlo model has been developed to support the design of the beam line in terms of particle transport efficiency, to optimize the transport parameters at the irradiation point in air and, furthermore, to predict beam parameters in order to deliver dose distributions of clinical relevance. The application has been developed using the Geant4 [3] Monte Carlo toolkit and has been designed in a modular way in order to easily switch on/off geometrical components according to different experimental setups and users requirements, as reported in [4], describing the early-stage code and simulations. The application has been delivered to ELI Beamlines and will be available for future ELIMAIA's users as ready-to-use tool useful during experiment preparation and analysis. The final version of the developed application will be described in detail in this contribution, together with the final results, in terms of energy spectra and transmission efficiency along the in-vacuum beam line, obtained by performing end-to-end simulations.

We determine the exact time-dependent non-idempotent one-particle reduced density matrix and its spectral decomposition for a harmonically confined two-particle correlated one-dimensional system when the interaction terms in the Schrödinger Hamiltonian are changed abruptly. Based on this matrix in coordinate space we derivea precise condition for the equivalence of the purity and the overlap-square of the correlated and non-correlated wave functions as the system evolves in time. This equivalence holds only if the interparticle interactions are affected, while the confinement terms are unaffected within the stability range of the system. Under this condition we also analyze various time-dependent measures of entanglement and demonstrate that, depending on the magnitude of the changes made in the Schrödinger Hamiltonian, periodic, logarithmically incresing or constant value behavior of the von Neumann entropy can occur.

The Coupled Cluster (CC) and full CI expansions are studied for three fermions with six and seven modes. Surprisingly the CC expansion is tailor made to characterize the usual SLOCC entanglement classes. It means that the notion of a SLOCC transformation shows up quite naturally as a one relating the CC and CI expansions, and going from the CI expansion to the CC one is equivalent to obtaining a form for the state where the structure of the entanglement classes is transparent. In this picture entanglement is characterized by the parameters of the cluster operators describing transitions from occupied states to singles, doubles and triples of non occupied ones. Using the CC parametrization of states in the seven mode case we give a simple formula for the unique SLOCC invariant $\mathcal{J}$. Then we consider a perturbation problem featuring a state from the unique SLOCC class characterized by $\mathcal{J}\neq 0$. For this state with entanglement generated by doubles we investigate the phenomenon of changing the entanglement type due to the perturbing effect of triples. We show that there are states with real amplitudes such that their entanglement encoded into configurations of clusters of doubles is protected from errors generated by triples. Finally we put forward a proposal to use the parameters of the cluster operator describing transitions to doubles for entanglement characterization. Compared to the usual SLOCC classes this provides a coarse grained approach to fermionic entanglement.

In wavelet based electron structure calculations introducing a new, finer resolution level is usually an expensive task, this is why often a two-level approximation is used with very fine starting resolution level. This process results in large matrices to calculate with and a large number of coefficients to be stored. In our previous work we have developed an adaptively refining solution scheme that determines the indices, where refined basis functions are to be included, and later a method for predicting the next, finer resolution coefficients in a very economic way. In the present contribution we would like to determine, whether the method can be applied for predicting not only the first, but also the other, higher resolution level coefficients. Also the energy expectation values of the predicted wave functions are studied, as well as the scaling behaviour of the coefficients in the fine resolution limit.

We present a complex data handling system for the COMPASS tokamak, operated by IPP ASCR Prague, Czech Republic [1]. The system, called CDB (Compass DataBase), integrates different data sources as an assortment of data acquisition hardware and software from different vendors is used. Based on widely available open source technologies wherever possible, CDB is vendor and platform independent and it can be easily scaled and distributed. The data is directly stored and retrieved using a standard NAS (Network Attached Storage), hence independent of the particular technology; the description of the data (the metadata) is recorded in a relational database. Database structure is general and enables the inclusion of multi-dimensional data signals in multiple revisions (no data is overwritten). This design is inherently distributed as the work is off-loaded to the clients. Both NAS and database can be implemented and optimized for fast local access as well as secure remote access. CDB is implemented in Python language; bindings for Java, C/C++, IDL and Matlab are provided. Independent data acquisitions systems as well as nodes managed by FireSignal [2] are all integrated using CDB. An automated data post-processing server is a part of CDB. Based on dependency rules, the server executes, in parallel if possible, prescribed post-processing tasks.

An explicit formula for the residual tangle is also given. The geometry of such density matrices is elaborated in some detail. In particular an explicit form for the Bures metric is given.

At any resolution level of wavelet expansions the physical observable of the kinetic energy is represented by an infinite matrix which is ``canonically'' chosen as the projection of the operator $-Δ/2$ onto the subspace of the given resolution. It is shown, that this canonical choice is not optimal, as the regular grid of the basis set introduces an artificial consequence of periodicity, and it is only a particular member of possible operator representations. We present an explicit method of preparing a near optimal kinetic energy matrix which leads to more appropriate results in numerical wavelet based calculations. This construction works even in those cases, where the usual definition is unusable (i.e., the derivative of the basis functions does not exist). It is also shown, that building an effective kinetic energy matrix is equivalent to the renormalization of the kinetic energy by a momentum dependent effective mass compensating for artificial periodicity effects.

In particular it is shown that these measures of complexity can be divergent, however, their differences are free from these divergences thus enabling them to be good candidates for the description of the extension and the shape of continuous distributions. We apply this formalism to the projection of wave functions onto the coherent state basis, i.e. to the Husimi representation. We also show how the localization properties of the Husimi distribution on average can be reconstructed from its marginal distributions that are calculated in position and momentum space in the case when the phase space has no structure, i.e. no classical limit can be defined. Numerical simulations on a one dimensional disordered system corroborate our expectations.

The random dimer model and its generalizations are considered and the wave functions are compared. Generalized entropic localization lengths are introduced in order to characterize the states and compared with their behavior for exponential localization. An acceptable agreement is obtained, however, the exponential form seems to be an oversimplification in the presence of correlated disorder. Based on the spectral statistics obtained in numerical simulations on three dimensional disordered systems within the tight--binding approximation, a new superuniversal scaling relation is presented that allows us to collapse data for the orthogonal, unitary and symplectic symmetry ($β=1,2,4$) onto a single scaling curve. This relation provides a strong evidence for one-parameter scaling existing in these systems which exhibit a second order phase transition. As a result a possible one-parameter family of spacing distribution functions, $P_g(s)$, is given for each symmetry class $β$, where $g$ is the dimensionless conductance.

The shape analysis of the energy spacing distribution $P(s)$ obtained from numerical simulation of two dimensional disordered electron systems subject to strong magnetic fields is performed. In the present work we reanalyze the data obtained in a previous publication. Special moments of the $P(s)$ function related to Rényi-entropy differences show a novel scale invariant relation that is attributed to the presence of one-parameter scaling. This relation seems to show both deviations and universality depending on which Landau-band is considered and whether the disorder is correlated or uncorrelated. Furthermore, our analysis shows the existence of an huge, however, irrelevant length scale in the case of the second lowest Landau-band and no disorder correlations that completely disappears with the introduction of disorder correlations on the range of one magnetic length.

We present a new method for the numerical treatment of second order phase transitions using the level spacing distribution function $P(s)$. We show that the quantities introduced originally for the shape analysis of eigenvectors can be properly applied for the description of the eigenvalues as well. The position of the metal--insulator transition (MIT) of the three dimensional Anderson model and the critical exponent are evaluated. The shape analysis of $P(s)$ obtained numerically shows that near the MIT $P(s)$ is clearly different from both the Brody distribution and from Izrailev's formula, and the best description is of the form $P(s)=c_1\,s\exp(-c_2\,s^{1+β})$, with $β\approx 0.2$. This is in good agreement with recent analytical results.
