We analyse and characterise the notion of lattice Lipschitz operator (a class of superposition operators, diagonal Lipschitz maps) when defined between Banach function spaces. After showing some general results, we restrict our attention to the case of those Lipschitz operators which are representable by pointwise composition with a strongly measurable function. Mimicking the classical definition and characterizations of (linear) multiplication operators between Banach function spaces, we show that under certain conditions the requirement for a diagonal Lipschitz operator to be well-defined between two such spaces $X(μ)$ and $Y(μ)$ is that it can be represented by a strongly measurable function which belongs to the Bochner space $\mathcal M(X,Y) \big(μ, Lip_0(\mathbb R) \big). $ Here, $\mathcal M(X,Y) $ is the space of multiplication operators between $X(μ)$ and $Y(μ),$ and $Lip_0(\mathbb R)$ is the space of real-valued Lipschitz maps with real variable that are equal to $0$ in $0. $ This opens the door to a better understanding of these maps, as well as finding the relation of these operators to some normed tensor products and other classes of maps.

Index spaces serve as valuable metric models for studying properties relevant to various applications, such as social science or economics. These properties are represented by real Lipschitz functions that describe the degree of association with each element within the underlying metric space. After determining the index value within a given sample subset, the classic McShane and Whitney formulas allow a Lipschitz regression procedure to be performed to extend the index values over the entire metric space. To improve the adaptability of the metric model to specific scenarios, this paper introduces the concept of a composition metric, which involves composing a metric with an increasing, positive and subadditive function $φ$. The results presented here extend well-established results for Lipschitz indices on metric spaces to composition metrics. In addition, we establish the corresponding approximation properties that facilitate the use of this functional structure. To illustrate the power and simplicity of this mathematical framework, we provide a concrete application involving the modelling of livability indices in North American cities.

Lattice Lipschitz operators define a new class of nonlinear Banach-lattice-valued maps that can be written as diagonal functions with respect to a certain basis. In the $n-$dimensional case, such a map can be represented as a vector of size $n$ of real-valued functions of one variable. In this paper we develop a method to approximate almost diagonal maps by means of lattice Lipschitz operators. The proposed technique is based on the approximation properties and error bounds obtained for these operators, together with a pointwise version of the interpolation of McShane and Whitney extension maps that can be applied to almost diagonal functions. In order to get the desired approximation, it is necessary to previously obtain an approximation to the set of eigenvectors of the original function. We focus on the explicit computation of error formulas and on illustrative examples to present our construction.

We explore the connection between $p$-regular operators on Banach function spaces and weighted $p$-estimates. In particular, our results focus on the following problem. Given finite measure spaces $μ$ and $ν$, let $T$ be an operator defined from a Banach function space $X(ν)$ and taking values on $L^p (v d μ)$ for $v$ in certain family of weights $V\subset L^1(μ)_+$: we analyze the existence of a bounded family of weights $W\subset L^1(ν)_+$ such that for every $v\in V$ there is $w \in W$ in such a way that $T:L^p(w d ν) \to L^p(v d μ)$ is continuous uniformly on $V$. A condition for the existence of such a family is given in terms of $p$-regularity of the integration map associated to a certain vector measure induced by the operator $T$.

We will show that this can sometimes be done, but there are also principal cases in which this cannot be done. The positive cases are obtained using the circle of ideas of the approximation property for Banach spaces. The negative ones are given by means of an adequate use of the Daugavet property. As an application, we analyse when the norm in a space of integrable functions $L^1(m)$ can be computed as a limit of the norms of the spaces of integrable functions with respect to the Radon-Nikodým derivatives of $m$.

As an application, we show a representation theorem for $q$-concave Banach lattices through spaces of integrable functions with respect to a vector measure. This result culminates a series of representation theorems for Banach lattices using vector measures that have been obtained in the last twenty years.

It is known that if $T$ is $p$-th power factorable then the largest function space to which $T$ can be extended preserving $p$-th power factorability is given by the space $L^p(m_T)$ of $p$-integrable functions with respect to $m_T$, where $m_T\colonΣ\to E$ is the vector measure associated to $T$ via $m_T(A)=T(χ_A)$. In this paper we extend this result by removing the restriction $χ_Ω\in X(μ)$. In this general case, by considering $m_T$ defined on a certain $δ$-ring, we show that the optimal domain for $T$ is the space $L^p(m_T)\cap L^1(m_T)$. We apply the obtained results to the particular case when $T$ is a map between sequence spaces defined by an infinite matrix.

Abstract:
Requirements under which the Daugavet equation and the alternative Daugavet equation hold for pairs of nonlinear maps between Banach spaces are analysed. A geometric description is given in terms of nonlinear slices. Some local versions of these properties are also introduced and studied, as well as tests for checking if the required conditions are satisfied in relevant cases.

We combine the structure of the spaces $L^p(μ)$ and $L^q(ξ)$ for constructing the new space $S_{X_p}^{\,q}(ξ)$, where $ξ$ is a probability Radon measure on a certain compact set associated to $X$. We show some of its properties, and the relevant fact that every $q$-summing operator $T$ defined on $X$ can be continuously (strongly) extended to $S_{X_p}^{\,q}(ξ)$. This result turns out to be a mixture of the Pietsch and Maurey-Rosenthal factorization theorems, which provide (strong) factorizations for $q$-summing operators through $L^q$-spaces when $1 \le q \le p$. Thus, our result completes the picture, showing what happens in the complementary case $1\le p\le q$, opening the door to the study of the multilinear versions of $q$-summing operators also in these cases.

In this paper we undertake a detailed study of factorization schemes for summing linear and nonlinear operators. Our aim is to integrate under the same theory a wide family of classes of map**s for which a Pietsch type factorization theorem holds. We analyze the class of linear operators that are defined by a summability inequality involving a homogeneous map. Our construction includes the cases of absolutely $p$-summing linear operators, $(p,σ)$-absolutely continuous linear operators, factorable strongly $p$-summing multilinear operators, $(p_1,\ldots,p_n)$-dominated multilinear operators and dominated $(p_1,\ldots, p_n;σ)$-continuous multilinear operators.
