A formula for charmonium suppression
Abstract: In this work a formula for charmonium suppression obtained by Matsui in 1989 is analytically generalized for the case of complex c-cbar potential described by a 3-dimensional and isotropic time-dependent harmonic oscillator (THO). It is suggested that under certain conditions the formula can be applied to describe J/ψsuppression in heavy-ion collisions at CERN-SPS, RHIC, and LHC with the advantage… ▽ More

Quarkonia and QGP studies
Abstract: We summarize results of recent studies of heavy quarkonia correlators and spectral functions at finite temperatures from lattice QCD and systematic T-matrix studies using QCD motivated finite-temperature potentials. We argue that heavy quarkonia dissociation shall occur in the temperature range $1.2 \le T_d/T_c \le 1.5$ by the interplay of both screening and absorption in the strongly correlated p… ▽ More

Exploring the chiral regime of $N_f=2$ QCD with mixed actions
Abstract: We report on our simulations with Neuberger valence fermions on CLS $N_f=2$ configurations with non-perturbatively $O(a)$-improved Wilson sea quarks. We consider the matching of QCD to ChPT in the so called mixed-regime in which the sea quarks are in the $p$-regime while the valence quarks are in the $ε$-regime. From this matching, we can get information on $Σ$, $L_6$ and the combination… ▽ More

Nahm transformation on the lattice
Abstract: The Nahm transformation is a duality map** between self-dual Yang-Mills configurations on the torus, which exchanges the number of colours with the topological charge. We show how lattice gauge theory techniques can be used to implement it numerically. The method is presented and its precision illustrated with some applications.

Large N corrections to the strong coupling behaviour of SU(N)/Z_N lattice gauge theories
Abstract: We derive a formula for the large N behaviour of the expectation values of an arbitrary product of Wilson loops in the adjoint representation. We show the consequences of our formula for the study of the large N strong coupling behaviour of SU(N)/Z_N pure gauge theories, and theories with matter fields in the adjoint representation. This allows us to calculate large N corrections to the gluino c… ▽ More

Nahm dualities on the torus - a synthesis
Abstract: We give a unified description of self-dual SU(2) gauge fields on tori of size lt x ls^3 based on a mixture of analytical and numerical methods using the Nahm transformation, extended to the case of twisted boundary conditions. We show how torus calorons (lt/ls small) are Nahm dual to the torus instantons (lt/ls large). Holonomies are dual to the locations of constituents, this duality becoming e… ▽ More

Weyl-Dirac zero-mode for calorons
Abstract: We give the analytic result for the fermion zero-mode of the SU(2) calorons with non-trivial holonomy. It is shown that the zero-mode is supported on ONLY ONE of the constituent monopoles. We discuss some of its implications.

N=1 Supersymmetric Yang-Mills on the lattice at strong coupling
Abstract: We study N=1 supersymmetric SU(N) Yang-Mills theory on the lattice at strong coupling. Our method is based on the hop** parameter expansion in terms of random walks, resummed for any value of the Wilson parameter r in the small hop** parameter region. Results are given for the mesonic (2-gluino) and fermionic (3-gluino) propagators and spectrum.

Nahm Transformation on the Lattice
Abstract: By studying zero modes of the Dirac equation on the lattice, we explicitly construct the Nahm transform of some topologically non-trivial gauge field configurations.

Yang-Mills classical solutions and fermionic zero modes from lattice calculations
Abstract: We study a series of problems in classical Yang-Mills theories using lattice methods. We first investigate SU(N) self-dual configurations on the torus with twisted boundary conditions. We also study the zero modes of the Dirac equation in topological non-trivial background Yang-Mills fields.

A Lexicalist Approach to the Translation of Colloquial Text
Abstract: Colloquial English (CE) as found in television programs or typical conversations is different than text found in technical manuals, newspapers and books. Phrases tend to be shorter and less sophisticated. In this paper, we look at some of the theoretical and implementational issues involved in translating CE. We present a fully automatic large-scale multilingual natural language processing syste… ▽ More
