An intrinsic local time in Geometrodynamics is obtained with using a scaled Dirac's map**. By addition of a background metric, one can construct a scalar field. It is suitable to play a role of intrinsic time. Cauchy problem was successfully solved in conformal variables because they are physical ones. First, the intrinsic time as a logarithm of determinant of spatial metric, was applied to a cosmological problem by Misner. A global time is exist under condition of constant mean curvature slicing of spacetime. A volume of hypersurface and the so-called mean York's time are canonical conjugated pair. So, the volume is the intrinsic global time by its sense. The experimentally observed redshift in cosmology is the evidence of its existence. An intrinsic time of homogeneous models is global. The Friedmann equation by its sense ties time intervals. Exact solutions of the Friedmann equation in Standard cosmology with standard and conformal units are presented. Theoretical curves interpolated the Hubble diagram on latest supernovae are expressed in analytical form. The class of functions in which the concordance model is described is Weierstrass meromorphic functions. The Standard cosmological model is used for fitting the modern Hubble diagram. The physical interpretation of the modern data from concept of conformal magnitudes is simpler, so is preferable.

The aim of this work is to combine the model of orbital and rotational motion of the Moon developed for DE430 with up-to-date astronomical, geodynamical, and geo- and selenophysical models. The parameters of the orbit and physical libration are determined in this work from LLR observations made at different observatories in 1970-2013. Parameters of other models are taken from solutions that were obtained independently from LLR.
A new implementation of the DE430 lunar model, including the liquid core equations, was done within the EPM ephemeris. The postfit residuals of LLR observations make evident that the terrestrial models and solutions recommended by the IERS Conventions are compatible with the lunar theory. That includes: EGM2008 with conventional corrections and variations from solid and ocean tides; displacement of stations due to solid and ocean loading tides; and precession-nutation model. Usage of these models in the solution for LLR observations has allowed us to reduce the number of parameters to be fit. The fixed model of tidal variations of the geopotential has resulted in a lesser value of Moon's extra eccentricity rate, as compared to the original DE430 model with two fit parameters.
A mixed model of lunar gravitational potential was used, with some coefficients determined from LLR observations, and other taken from the GL660b solution.
Solutions obtain accurate positions for the ranging stations and the 5 retroreflectors. Station motion is derived for sites with long data spans. Dissipation is detected at the lunar fluid core-solid mantle boundary demonstrating that a fluid core is present. Tidal dissipation is strong at both Earth and Moon. Consequently, the lunar semimajor axis is expanding by 38.20 mm/yr, the tidal acceleration in mean longitude is -25.90 "/cy2, and the eccentricity is increasing by 1.48e-11 each year.

Two-dimensional lattices of chiral nanoholes in a plasmonic film with lattice constants being slightly larger than light wavelength are proposed for effective control of polarization and spatial properties of light beams. Effective polarization conversion and strong circular dichroism in non-zero diffraction orders in these chiral metafilms are demonstrated by electromagnetic simulations. These interesting effects are found to result from interplay between radiation pattern of single chiral nanohole and diffraction pattern of the planar lattice, and can be manipulated by varying wavelength and polarization of incoming light as well as period of metastructure and refractive indexes of substrate and overlayer. Therefore, this work offers a novel paradigm for develo** planar chiral metafilm-based optical devices with controllable polarization state, spatial orientation and intensity of outgoing light.

The protoplanetary disk around the F-type star HD 135344B (SAO 206462) is in a transition stage and shows many intriguing structures both in scattered light and thermal (sub-)millimeter emission which are possibly related to planet formation processes. We study the morphology and surface brightness of the disk in scattered light to gain insight into the innermost disk regions, the formation of protoplanets, planet-disk interactions traced in the surface and midplane layers, and the dust grain properties of the disk surface. We have carried out high-contrast polarimetric differential imaging (PDI) observations with VLT/SPHERE and obtained polarized scattered light images with ZIMPOL in R- and I-band and with IRDIS in Y- and J-band. The scattered light images reveal with unprecedented angular resolution and sensitivity the spiral arms as well as the 25 au cavity of the disk. Multiple shadow features are discovered on the outer disk with one shadow only being present during the second observation epoch. A positive surface brightness gradient is observed in the stellar irradiation corrected images in southwest direction possibly due to an azimuthally asymmetric perturbation of the temperature and/or surface density by the passing spiral arms. The disk integrated polarized flux, normalized to the stellar flux, shows a positive trend towards longer wavelengths which we attribute to large aggregate dust grains in the disk surface. Part of the the non-azimuthal polarization signal in the Uphi image of the J-band observation could be the result of multiple scattering in the disk. The detected shadow features and their possible variability have the potential to provide insight into the structure of and processes occurring in the innermost disk regions.

We present new near-infrared photometric measurements of the core of the young massive cluster NGC 3603 obtained with extreme adaptive optics. The data were obtained with the SPHERE instrument mounted on ESO Very Large Telescope, and cover three fields in the core of this cluster. We applied a correction for the effect of extinction to our data obtained in the J and K broadband filters and estimated the mass of detected sources inside the field of view of SPHERE/IRDIS, which is 13.5"x13.5". We derived the mass function (MF) slope for each spectral band and field. The MF slope in the core is unusual compared to previous results based on Hubble space telescope (HST) and very large telescope (VLT) observations. The average slope in the core is estimated as -1.06^{+0.26}_{-0.26} for the main sequence stars with 3.5 Msun < M < 120 Msun. Thanks to the SPHERE extreme adaptive optics, 814 low-mass stars were detected to estimate the MF slope for the pre-main sequence stars with 0.6 Msun< M < 3.5 Msun , Gamma = -0.54^{+0.11}_{-0.11} in the K-band images in two fields in the core of the cluster. For the first time, we derive the mass function of the very core of the NGC 3603 young cluster for masses in the range 0.6 - 120 Msun. Previous studies were either limited by crowding, lack of dynamic range, or a combination of both.

We apply Orlov's equivalence to derive formulas for the Betti numbers of maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules over the cone an elliptic curve $(E,x)$ embedded into $\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$, by the full linear system $|\mathcal{O}(nx)|$, for $n>3$. The answers are given in terms of recursive sequences. These results are applied to give a criterion of (Co-)Koszulity.
In the last two sections of the paper we apply our methods to study the cases $n=1,2$. Geometrically these cases correspond to the embedding of an elliptic curve into a weighted projective space. The singularities of the corresponding cones are called minimal elliptic. They were studied by K.Saito, where he introduced the notation $\widetilde{E_8}$ for $n=1$, $\widetilde{E_7}$ for $n=2$ and $\widetilde{E_6}$ for the cone over a smooth cubic, that is, for the case $n=3$. For the singularities $\widetilde{E_7}$ and $\widetilde{E_8}$ we obtain formulas for the Betti numbers and the numerical invariants of MCM modules analogous to the case of a plane cubic.

We investigate the optical beam behavior in the periodical array of the coupled optical waveguides with the monotonic change of the refractive index in the transverse direction. We consider the dependence of the form of the optical beam on the boundary conditions. It is well known that if the input wave packet is wide enough, the optical Bloch oscillations occur, while for the enough narrow input wave packet the breathing mode is observed. We show that if the input wave packet is neither too wide nor too narrow, the optical beam takes a peculiar form which can be considered neither as the Bloch oscillations nor as the breathing mode. We qualitatively explain the transformation of this intermediate form of the optical beam when the width of the input wave packet changes.

We show that for maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules over a homogeneous coordinate rings of smooth Calabi-Yau varieties $X$ computation of Betti numbers can be reduced to computations of dimensions of certain $\operatorname{Hom}$ groups in the bounded derived category $D^b(X)$.
In the simplest case of a smooth elliptic curve $E$ imbedded into $\mathbb{P}^2$ as a smooth cubic we use our formula to get explicit answers for Betti numbers. Description of the automorphism group of the derived category $D^b(E)$ in terms of the spherical twist functors of Seidel and Thomas plays a major role in our approach. We show that there are only four possible shapes of the Betti tables up to a shifts in internal degree, and two possible shapes up to a shift in internal degree and taking syzygies.

The planetary system discovered around the young A-type HR8799 provides a unique laboratory to: a) test planet formation theories, b) probe the diversity of system architectures at these separations, and c) perform comparative (exo)planetology. We present and exploit new near-infrared images and integral-field spectra of the four gas giants surrounding HR8799 obtained with SPHERE, the new planet finder instrument at the Very Large Telescope, during the commissioning and science verification phase of the instrument (July-December 2014). With these new data, we contribute to completing the spectral energy distribution of these bodies in the 1.0-2.5 $μ$m range. We also provide new astrometric data, in particular for planet e, to further constrain the orbits. We used the infrared dual-band imager and spectrograph (IRDIS) subsystem to obtain pupil-stabilized, dual-band $H2H3$ (1.593 $μ$m, 1.667 $μ$m), $K1K2$ (2.110 $μ$m, 2.251 $μ$m), and broadband $J$ (1.245 $μ$m) images of the four planets. IRDIS was operated in parallel with the integral field spectrograph (IFS) of SPHERE to collect low-resolution ($R\sim30$), near-infrared (0.94-1.64 $μ$m) spectra of the two innermost planets HR8799d and e. The data were reduced with dedicated algorithms, such as the Karhunen-Loève image projection (KLIP), to reveal the planets. We used the so-called negative planets injection technique to extract their photometry, spectra, and measure their positions. We illustrate the astrometric performance of SPHERE through sample orbital fits compatible with SPHERE and literature data.

The system of four planets around HR8799 offers a unique opportunity to probe the physics and chemistry at play in the atmospheres of self-luminous young (~30 Myr) planets. We recently obtained new photometry of the four planets and low-resolution (R~30) spectra of HR8799 d and e with the SPHERE instrument (paper III). In this paper (paper IV), we compare the available spectra and photometry of the planets to known objects and atmospheric models (BT-SETTL14, Cloud-AE60, Exo-REM) to characterize the atmospheric properties of the planets. We find that HR8799d and e properties are well reproduced by those of L6-L8 dusty dwarfs discovered in the field, among which some are candidate members of young nearby associations. No known object reproduces well the properties of planets b and c. Nevertheless, we find that the spectra and WISE photometry of peculiar and/or young early-T dwarfs reddened by submicron grains made of corundum, iron, enstatite, or forsterite successfully reproduce the SED of these two planets. Our analysis confirms that only the Exo-REM models with thick clouds fit (within 2σ) the whole set of spectrophotometric datapoints available for HR8799 d and e for Teff = 1200 K, log g in the range 3.0-4.5, and M/H=+0.5. The models still fail to reproduce the SED of HR8799c and b. The determination of the metallicity, log g, and cloud thickness are degenerate. We conclude that an enhanced content in dust and decreased CIA of H2 is certainly responsible for the deviation of the properties of the planet with respect to field dwarfs. The analysis suggests in addition that HR8799c and b have later spectral types than the two other planets, and therefore could both have lower masses.

GJ758 B is a brown dwarf companion to a nearby (15.76 pc) solar-type, metal-rich (M/H = +0.2 dex) main-sequence star (G9V) that was discovered with Subaru/HiCIAO in 2009. From previous studies, it has drawn attention as being the coldest (~600K) companion ever directly imaged around a neighboring star. We present new high-contrast data obtained during the commissioning of the SPHERE instrument at the VLT. The data was obtained in Y-, J-, H-, and Ks-bands with the dual-band imaging (DBI) mode of IRDIS, providing a broad coverage of the full near-infrared (near-IR) range at higher contrast and better spectral sampling than previously reported. In this new set of high-quality data, we report the re-detection of the companion, as well as the first detection of a new candidate closer-in to the star. We use the new 8 photometric points for an extended comparison of GJ758 B with empirical objects and 4 families of atmospheric models. From comparison to empirical object, we estimate a T8 spectral type, but none of the comparison object can accurately represent the observed near-IR fluxes of GJ758 B. From comparison to atmospheric models, we attribute a Teff = 600K $\pm$ 100K, but we find that no atmospheric model can adequately fit all the fluxes of GJ758 B. The photometry of the new candidate companion is broadly consistent with L-type objects, but a second epoch with improved photometry is necessary to clarify its status. The new astrometry of GJ758 B shows a significant proper motion since the last epoch. We use this result to improve the determination of the orbital characteristics using two fitting approaches, Least-Square Monte Carlo and Markov Chain Monte Carlo. Finally, we analyze the sensitivity of our data to additional closer-in companions and reject the possibility of other massive brown dwarf companions down to 4-5 AU. [abridged]

[Abridged] Context. The young systems PZ Tel and HD 1160, hosting known low-mass companions, were observed during the commissioning of the new planet finder SPHERE with several imaging and spectroscopic modes. Aims. We aim to refine the physical properties and architecture of both systems. Methods. We use SPHERE commissioning data and REM observations, as well as literature and unpublished data from VLT/SINFONI, VLT/NaCo, Gemini/NICI, and Keck/NIRC2. Results. We derive new photometry and confirm the nearly daily photometric variability of PZ Tel A. Using literature data spanning 38 yr, we show that the star also exhibits a long-term variability trend. The 0.63-3.8 mic SED of PZ Tel B allows us to revise its properties: spectral type M7+/-1, Teff=2700+/-100 K, log(g)<4.5 dex, log(L/L_Sun)=-2.51+/-0.10 dex, and mass 38-72 MJ. The 1-3.8 mic SED of HD 1160 B suggests a massive brown dwarf or a low-mass star with spectral type M5.5-7.0, Teff=3000+/-100 K, [M/H]=-0.5-0.0 dex, log(L/L_Sun)=-2.81+/-0.10 dex, and mass 39-168 MJ. We confirm the deceleration and high eccentricity (e>0.66) of PZ Tel B. For e<0.9, the inclination, longitude of the ascending node, and time of periastron passage are well constrained. The system is seen close to an edge-on geometry. We reject other brown dwarf candidates outside 0.25" for both systems, and massive giant planets (>4 MJ) outside 0.5" for the PZ Tel system. We also show that K1-K2 color can be used with YJH low-resolution spectra to identify young L-type companions, provided high photometric accuracy (<0.05 mag) is achieved. Conclusions. SPHERE opens new horizons in the study of young brown dwarfs and giant exoplanets thanks to high-contrast imaging capabilities at optical and near-infrared wavelengths, as well as high signal-to-noise spectroscopy in the near-infrared from low (R~30-50) to medium resolutions (R~350).

Von Neumann's procedure is applied for quantization of General Relativity. We quantize the initial data of dynamical variables at the Planck epoch, where the Hubble parameter coincides with the Planck mass. These initial data are defined via the Fock simplex in the tangent Minkowskian space-time and the Dirac conformal interval. The Einstein cosmological principle is applied for the average of the spatial metric determinant logarithm over the spatial volume of the visible Universe. We derive the splitting of the general coordinate transformations into the diffeomorphisms (as the object of the second Nöther theorem) and the initial data transformations (as objects of the first Nöther theorem). Following von Neumann, we suppose that the vacuum state is a quantum ensemble. The vacuum state is degenerated with respect to quantum numbers of non-vacuum states with the distribution function that yields the Casimir effect in gravidynamics in analogy to the one in electrodynamics. The generation functional of the perturbation theory in gravidynamics is given as a solution of the quantum energy constraint. We discuss the region of applicability of gravidynamics and its possible predictions for explanation of the modern observational and experimental data.

The problem of integrability of the mixmaster model as a dynamical system with finite degrees of freedom is investigated. The model belongs to the class of pseudo-Euclidean generalized Toda chains. It is presented as a quasi-homogeneous system after transformations of phase variables. An application of the method of getting of Kovalevskaya exponents to the model leads to the generalized Adler -- van Moerbeke formula on root vectors. A generalized Cartan matrix is constructed with use of simple root vectors in Minkowski space. The mixmaster model is associated to a Borcherds algebra. The known hyperbolic Kac -- Moody algebra of Chitre billiard model is obtained by using three spacelike (without isotropic) root vectors.

The volume of hypersurface and so-called mean York's time are canonical conjugated pair. So, the volume is the intrinsic global time by its sense. The experimentally observed redshift in cosmology is the evidence of its existence.

We present the performance of the Integral Field Spectrograph (IFS) of SPHERE, the high-contrast imager for the ESO VLT telescope designed to perform imaging and spectroscopy of extrasolar planets, obtained from tests performed at the Institute de Planétologie et d'Astrophysique de Grenoble facility during the integration phase of the instrument.} {The tests were performed using the instrument software purposely prepared for SPHERE. The output data were reduced applying the SPHERE data reduction and handling software, adding an improved spectral deconvolution procedure. To this aim, we prepared an alternative procedure for the spectral subtraction exploiting the principal components analysis algorithm. Moreover, a simulated angular differential imaging procedure was also implemented to estimate how the instrument performed once this procedure was applied at telescope. The capability of the IFS to faithfully retrieve the spectra of the detected faint companions was also considered.} {We found that the application of the updated version of the spectral deconvolution procedure alone, when the algorithm throughput is properly taken into account, gives us a $5σ$ limiting contrast of the order of 5$\times$$10^{-6}$ or slightly better. The further application of the angular differential imaging procedure on these data should allow us to improve the contrast by one order of magnitude down to around 7$\times$$10^{-7}$ at a separation of 0.3 arcsec. The application of a principal components analysis procedure that simultaneously uses spectral and angular data gives comparable results. Finally, we found that the reproducibility of the spectra of the detected faint companions is greatly improved when angular differential imaging is applied in addition to the spectral deconvolution.

The mechanism is the Casimir energy and associated condensate, which are resulted from the vacuum postulate and normal ordering of the conformal invariant Hamiltonian with respect to the quantum elementary field operators. It is shown that the Casimir top-quark condensate specifies the value of the Higgs particle mass without involving the Higgs tachyon mass, which is put equal to zero. The Casimir mechanism yields another value of the coupling constant for the self-interaction of scalar field than the standard model does.

A mechanism of radiatively induced breaking of the conformal symmetry in the Standard Model is suggested. The system of one scalar (Higgs) and one fermion (top-quark) fields with Yukawa and $φ^4$ interactions is considered. The infrared instability of the Coleman-Weinberg effective potential for this system leads to the appearance of a finite renormalization scale and thus to breaking of the conformal symmetry. Finite condensates of both scalar and spinor fields appear. It is shown that the top quark condensate can supersede the tachyon mass of the Higgs field. The Higgs boson is treated as an elementary scalar and the standard mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking remains unchanged. The difference from the Standard Model appears in the value of the Higgs boson self-coupling constant.

The new planet finder for the Very Large Telescope (VLT), the Spectro-Polarimetric High-contrast Exoplanet REsearch (SPHERE), just had its first light in Paranal. A dedicated instrument for the direct detection of planets, SPHERE, is composed of a polametric camera in visible light, the Zurich IMager POLarimeter (ZIMPOL), and two near-infrared sub-systems: the Infra-Red Dual-beam Imager and Spectrograph (IRDIS), a multi-purpose camera for imaging, polarimetry, and long-slit spectroscopy, and the integral field spectrograph (IFS), an integral field spectrograph. We present the results obtained from the analysis of data taken during the laboratory integration and validation phase, after the injection of synthetic planets. Since no continuous field rotation could be performed in the laboratory, this analysis presents results obtained using reduction techniques that do not use the angular differential imaging (ADI) technique. To perform the simulations, we used the instrumental point spread function (PSF) and model spectra of L and T-type objects scaled in contrast with respect to the host star. We evaluated the expected error in astrometry and photometry as a function of the signal to noise of companions, after spectral differential imaging (SDI) reduction for IRDIS and spectral deconvolution (SD) or principal component analysis (PCA) data reductions for IFS. We deduced from our analysis, for example, that $β$Picb, a 12~Myr old planet of $\sim$10~\MJ and semi-major axis of 9--10 AU, would be detected with IRDIS with a photometric error of 0.16~mag and with a relative astrometric position error of 1.1~mas. With IFS, we could retrieve a spectrum with error bars of about 0.15~mag on each channel and astrometric relative position error of 0.6~mas. For a fainter object such as HR8799d, a 13~\MJ planet at a distance of 27~AU, IRDIS could obtain a relative astrometric error of 3~mas.

The present monograph is devoted to the theory of gravitation derived consequently as joint nonlinear realization of conformal and affine symmetries by means of Cartan differential forms. In the framework of the joint nonlinear realization of conformal and affine symmetries the interpretation of the last cosmological observational data of Ia Supernovae, anisotropy of the primordial radiation temperature and the mass spectrum of electroweak bosons, including the Higgs particle mass in the expected region ~ 125 GeV, is given. All these observational and experimental data testify to the vacuum energy dominance. The vacuum Casimir energy is a source of intensive cosmological quantum creation gravitons and electroweak bosons including Higgs particles from the empty Universe during the first 10^(-12) sec. The products of decay of the electroweak bosons give the matter content of the present day Universe, including primordial radiation and its baryon asymmetry.

In this paper, we studied the possibility of making use of such a dispersion-compensating property to construct a white light cavity (WLC). A pair of LCBGs is suggested as the reflectors of the cavity. The analytical and numerical analysis shows that the reflection by a LCBG does not solely occur at the position where Bragg condition is reached. The accumulated effect of multiple scatterings at different locations inside the LCBG produces a positive group delay, preventing the WLC to be realized with simple LCBG.

The Hall effect in InMnAs layers with MnAs inclusions of 20-50 nm in size is studied both theoretically and experimentally. We find that the anomalous Hall effect can be explained by the Lorentz force caused by the magnetic field of ferromagnetic inclusions and by an inhomogeneous distribution of the current density in the layer. The hysteretic dependence of the average magnetization of ferromagnetic inclusions on an external magnetic field results in a hysteretic dependence of RH(Hext). Thus we show the possibility of a hysteretic RH(Hext) dependence (i.e. observation of the anomalous Hall effect) in thin conductive layers with ferromagnetic inclusions in the absence of carriers spin polarization.

The next generation of space-based galaxy surveys are expected to measure the growth rate of structure to about a percent level over a range of redshifts. The rate of growth of structure as a function of redshift depends on the behaviour of dark energy and so can be used to constrain parameters of dark energy models. In this work we investigate how well these future data will be able to constrain the time dependence of the dark energy density. We consider parameterizations of the dark energy equation of state, such as XCDM and wCDM, as well as a consistent physical model of time-evolving scalar field dark energy, φCDM. We show that if the standard, specially-flat cosmological model is taken as a fiducial model of the Universe, these near-future measurements of structure growth will be able to constrain the time-dependence of scalar field dark energy density to a precision of about 10%, which is almost an order of magnitude better than what can be achieved from a compilation of currently available data sets.

We investigate one mechanism of the change in the isotopic composition of cosmologically distant clouds of interstellar gas whose matter was subjected only slightly to star formation processes. According to the standard cosmological model, the isotopic composition of the gas in such clouds was formed at the epoch of Big Bang nucleosynthesis and is determined only by the baryon density in the Universe. The dispersion in the available cloud composition observations exceeds the errors of individual measurements. This may indicate that there are mechanisms of the change in the composition of matter in the Universe after the completion of Big Bang nucleosynthesis. We have calculated the destruction and production rates of light isotopes (D, 3He, 4He) under the influence of photonuclear reactions triggered by the gamma-ray emission from active galactic nuclei (AGNs). We investigate the destruction and production of light elements depending on the spectral characteristics of the gamma-ray emission. We show that in comparison with previous works, taking into account the influence of spectral hardness on the photonuclear reaction rates can increase the characteristic radii of influence of the gamma-ray emission from AGNs by a factor of 2-8. The high gamma-ray luminosities of AGNs observed in recent years increase the previous estimates of the characteristic radii by two orders of magnitude. This may suggest that the influence of the emission from AGNs on the change in the composition of the medium in the immediate neighborhood (the host galaxy) has been underestimated.

A topological picture of quasi-multipliers via the quasi-strict topology is given. We investigate orthonormality-preserving, C*-conformal and conformal module map**s on Hilbert C*-modules to obtain their general structure. Orthogonality-preserving bounded module maps T act as a multiplication by an element λof the center of the multiplier algebra of the C*-algebra of coefficients combined with an isometric module operator as long as some polar decomposition conditions for the specific element λare fulfilled inside that multiplier algebra. Generally, T always fulfils the equality $<T(x),T(y) > = | λ|^2 < x,y>$ for any elements x,y of the Hilbert C*-module. At the contrary, C*-conformal and conformal bounded C*-linear map**s are shown to be only the positive real multiples of isometric module operators.

Abstract:
Analogues for Hilbert C*-modules of classical results of Fourier series theory in Hilbert spaces are considered. Relations between different properties of orthogonal and orthonormal systems for Hilbert C*-modules are studied with special attention paid on the differences with the well-known Hilbert space situation.

Some properties of weak module topologies on Hilbert C*-modules are described. Natural module analogues of the classical weak Banach-Saks and the classical Schur properties are defined and studied. A number of useful characterizations of properties of Hilbert C*-modules is obtained. In particular, some interrelations of these properties with the self-duality property of countably generated Hilbert C*-modules are established.

Lance's book and publications of the second author, for the introduction and study of left multipliers of Hilbert $C^*$-modules. Some properties and, in particular, the property of maximality among all strictly essential extensions of a Hilbert $C^*$-module for left multipliers are proved. Also relations between left essential and left strictly essential extensions in different contexts are obtained. Left essential and left strictly essential extensions of matrix algebras are considered. In the final paragraph the topological approach to the left multiplier theory of Hilbert $C^*$-modules is worked out.

This paper deals with a "naive" way of generalization of the Kazhdan's property (T) to C*-algebras. This approach differs from the approach of Connes and Jones, which has already demonstrated its utility. Nevertheless it turned out that our approach is applicable to the following rather subtle question in the theory of C*-Hilbert modules.
We prove that a separable unital C*-algebra A has property MI (module-infinite, i.e., any C*-Hilbert module over A is self-dual if and only if it is finitely generated projective) if and only if it has not property (T1P) (property (T) at one point}, i.e. there exists in the unitary dual of A a finite dimensional isolated point.
The commutative case was studied in a previous paper.

We have measured the pressure sensitivity of Tc in fluorinated HgBa2Ca2Cu3O(8+d) (Hg-1223) ceramic samples with different F contents, applying pressures up to 30 GPa. We obtained that Tc increases with increasing pressure, reaching different maximum values, depending on the F do** level, and decreases for a further increase of pressure. A new high Tc record (166 K +/- 1 K) was achieved by applying pressure (23 GPa) in a fluorinated Hg-1223 sample near the optimum do** level. Our results show that all our samples are at the optimal do**, and that fluorine incorporation decreases the crystallographic $a$-parameter concomitantly increasing the maximum attainable Tc. This effect reveals that the compression of the $a$ axes is one of the keys that controls the Tc of high temperature superconductors.

Secondly, we want to promote an extensive air shower (EAS) calculation scheme, based on cascade equations rather than explicit Monte Carlo simulations, which is very accurate in calculations of main EAS characteristics and extremely fast concerning computing time. We employ the NEXUS model to provide the necessary data on particle production in hadron-air collisions and present the average EAS characteristics for energies 10^14 - 10^17 eV. The experimental data of the casa-blanka group are analyzed in the framework of the new model.

Moreover, it turns out to be possible to construct the extension of the Chern character to some homomorphism from $N_0(A)$ to even Banach cyclic homology of A. Also, we define generalized Lefschetz numbers for an arbitrary unitary endomorphism U of an A-elliptic complex. We study them in the situation when U is an element of a representation of some compact Lie group.
