Abstract:
Time-dependent CP violation is measured in the $B^0\rightarrow J/ψπ^+π^-$ channel for each $π^+π^-$ resonant final state using data collected with an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb$^{-1}$ in $pp$ collisions using the LHCb detector. Time-dependent CP violation is measured in the $B^0\rightarrow J/ψπ^+π^-$ channel for each $π^+π^-$ resonant final state using data collected with an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb$^{-1}$ in $pp$ collisions using the LHCb detector. The final state with the largest rate, $J/ψρ^0(770)$, is used to measure the CP-violating angle $2β^{\rm eff}$ to be $(41.7\pm 9.6_{-6.3}^{+2.8})^{\circ}$. This result can be used to limit the size of penguin amplitude contributions to CP violation measurements in, for example, $B_s^0\rightarrow J/ψφ$ decays. Assuming approximate SU(3) flavour symmetry and neglecting higher order diagrams, the shift in the CP-violating phase $φ_s$ is limited to be within the interval [$-1.05^\circ$, +$1.18^\circ$] at 95% confidence level. Changes to the limit due to SU(3) symmetry breaking effects are also discussed.

The associated production of a Z boson or an off-shell photon $γ^*$ with a bottom quark in the forward region is studied using proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of $7{\mathrm{\,Te\kern -0.1em V}}$. The Z bosons are reconstructed in the ${\text{Z}/γ^*}\!\rightarrow{μ^{+}μ^{-}}$ final state from muons with a transverse momentum larger than $20{\mathrm{\,Ge\kern -0.1em V}}$, while two transverse momentum thresholds are considered for jets ($10{\mathrm{\,Ge\kern -0.1em V}}$ and $20{\mathrm{\,Ge\kern -0.1em V}}$). Both muons and jets are reconstructed in the pseudorapidity range $2.0 < η< 4.5$. The results are based on data corresponding to $1.0{\,\mbox{fb}^{-1}}$ recorded in 2011 with the LHCb detector. The measurement of the Z+b-jet cross-section is normalized to the Z+jet cross-section. The measured cross-sections are \begin{equation*} σ(\text{$\text{Z}/γ^*(μ^{+}μ^{-})$+b-jet}) = 295 \pm 60~(\text{stat}) \pm 51~(\text{syst}) \pm 10~(\text{lumi}) {\,\mbox{fb}} \end{equation*} for ${p_{\rm T}}$(jet)$>10{\mathrm{\,Ge\kern -0.1em V}}$, and \begin{equation*} σ(\text{$\text{Z}/γ^*(μ^{+}μ^{-})$+b-jet}) = 128 \pm 36~(\text{stat}) \pm 22~(\text{syst}) \pm 5~(\text{lumi}) {\,\mbox{fb}} \end{equation*} for ${p_{\rm T}}$(jet)$>20{\mathrm{\,Ge\kern -0.1em V}}$.

A study of $B^0$~and $B^0_s$ meson decays into $J/ψη$~and $J/ψη^{\prime}$ final states is performed using a data set of proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8TeV, collected by the LHCb experiment and corresponding to 3.0fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. The decay $B^0 \rightarrow J/ψη^{\prime}$ is observed for thefirst time. The following ratios of branching fractions are measured: $$ \frac{\mathcal{B}(B^0 \rightarrow J/ψη^{\prime})}{\mathcal{B}(B^0_s \rightarrow J/ψη^{\prime})} = (2.28\pm0.65\,(stat)\,\pm0.10\,(syst)\,\pm0.13\,(f_{s}/f_{d}))\times10^{-2},$$ $$ \frac{\mathcal{B}(B^0 \rightarrow J/ψη)}{\mathcal{B}(B^0_s \rightarrow J/ψη)} = (1.85\pm0.61\,(stat)\,\pm0.09\,(syst)\,\pm0.11\,(f_{s}/f_{d}))\times10^{-2},$$ where the third uncertainty is related to the present knowledge of $f_{s}/f_{d}$, the ratio between the probabilities for a $b$ quark to form a $B^0_s$ or $B^0$ meson. The branching fraction ratios are used to determine the parameters of $η-η^{\prime}$ meson mixing. In addition, the first evidence for the decay $B^0_s \rightarrow ψ(2S) η^{\prime}$ is reported, and the relative branching fraction is measured,
$$\frac{\mathcal{B}(B^0_s \rightarrow ψ(2S) η^{\prime})}{\mathcal{B}(B^0_s \rightarrow J/ψη^{\prime})} = (38.7\pm9.0\,(stat)\,\pm1.3\,(syst)\,\pm0.9(\mathcal{B}))\times10^{-2},$$
where the third uncertainty is due to the limited knowledge of the branching fractions of $J/ψ$ and $ψ(2S)$~mesons.

Measuring cross-sections at the LHC requires the luminosity to be determined accurately at each centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}$. In this paper results are reported from the luminosity calibrations carried out at the LHC interaction point 8 with the LHCb detector for $\sqrt{s}$ = 2.76, 7 and 8 TeV (proton-proton collisions) and for $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 5 TeV (proton-lead collisions). Both the "van der Meer scan" and "beam-gas imaging" luminosity calibration methods were employed. It is observed that the beam density profile cannot always be described by a function that is factorizable in the two transverse coordinates. The introduction of a two-dimensional description of the beams improves significantly the consistency of the results. For proton-proton interactions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV a relative precision of the luminosity calibration of 1.47% is obtained using van der Meer scans and 1.43% using beam-gas imaging, resulting in a combined precision of 1.12%. Applying the calibration to the full data set determines the luminosity with a precision of 1.16%. This represents the most precise luminosity measurement achieved so far at a bunched-beam hadron collider.

The semileptonic $CP$ asymmetry in $B^0-\overline{B}{}^0$ mixing, $a_{\rm sl}^d$, is measured in proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb$^{-1}$, recorded by the LHCb experiment. Semileptonic $B^0$ decays are reconstructed in the inclusive final states $D^-μ^+$ and $D^{*-}μ^+$, where the $D^-$ meson decays into the $K^+π^-π^-$ final state, and the $D^{*-}$ meson into the $\overline{D}{}^0(\rightarrow K^+π^-)π^-$ final state. The asymmetry between the numbers of $D^{(*)-}μ^+$ and $D^{(*)+}μ^-$ decays is measured as a function of the decay time of the $B^0$ mesons. The $CP$ asymmetry is measured to be $a_{\rm sl}^d = (-0.02 \pm 0.19 \pm 0.30)\%$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. This is the most precise measurement of $a_{\rm sl}^d$ to date and is consistent with the prediction from the Standard Model.

We report on measurements of the mass and lifetime of the Xi_b^- baryon using about 1800 Xi_b^- decays reconstructed in a proton-proton collision data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb^{-1} collected by the LHCb experiment. The decays are reconstructed in the Xi_b^- --> Xi_c^0 pi^-, Xi_c^0 --> pK-K-pi+ channel and the mass and lifetime are measured using the Lambda_b^0 --> Lambda_c^+ pi- mode as a reference. We measure M(Xi_b^-) - M(Lambda_b^0) = 178.36 +- 0.46 +- 0.16 MeV/c^2 and tau(Xi_b^-)/tau(Lambda_b^0) = 1.089 +- 0.026 +- 0.011, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These results lead to a factor of two better precision on the Xi_b^- mass and lifetime compared to previous best measurements, and are consistent with theoretical expectations.

We present a measurement of the $CP$-violating weak mixing phase $φ_s$ using the decay $\bar{B}^{0}_{s}\to D_{s}^{+}D_{s}^{-}$ in a data sample corresponding to $3.0$ fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected with the LHCb detector in $pp$ collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. An analysis of the time evolution of the system, which does not constrain $|λ|=1$ to allow for the presence of $CP$ violation in decay, yields $φ_s = 0.02 \pm 0.17$ (stat) $\pm 0.02$ (syst) rad, $|λ| = 0.91^{+0.18}_{-0.15}$ (stat) $\pm0.02$ (syst). This result is consistent with the Standard Model expectation.

The cross-section for prompt production of $η_c (1S)$ mesons relative to the prompt $J/ψ$ cross-section is measured, for the first time, to be $σ_{η_c (1S)}/σ_{J/ψ} = 1.74 \pm 0.29 \pm 0.28 \pm 0.18 _{B}$ at a centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 0.7 fb$^{-1}$, and $σ_{η_c (1S)}/σ_{J/ψ} = 1.60 \pm 0.29 \pm 0.25 \pm 0.17 _{B}$ at $\sqrt{s} = 8$ TeV using 2.0 fb$^{-1}$. The uncertainties quoted are, in order, statistical, systematic, and that on the ratio of branching fractions of the $η_c (1S)$ and $J/ψ$ decays to the $p \bar{p}$ final state. In addition, the inclusive branching fraction of $b$-hadron decays into $η_c (1S)$ mesons is measured, for the first time, to be $B ( b \rightarrow η_c X ) = (4.88 \pm 0.64 \pm 0.29 \pm 0.67 _{B}) \times 10^{-3}$, where the third uncertainty includes also the uncertainty on the $J/ψ$ inclusive branching fraction from $b$-hadron decays. The difference between the $J/ψ$ and $η_c (1S)$ meson masses is determined to be $114.7 \pm 1.5 \pm 0.1$ MeV/c$^2$.

The production of $χ_b$ mesons in proton-proton collisions is studied using a data sample collected by the LHCb detector, at centre-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=7$ and $8$ TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb$^{-1}$. The production of $χ_b$ mesons in proton-proton collisions is studied using a data sample collected by the LHCb detector, at centre-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=7$ and $8$ TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb$^{-1}$. The $χ_b$ mesons are identified through their decays to $Υ(1S)γ$ and $Υ(2S)γ$ using photons that converted to $e^+e^-$ pairs in the detector. The relative prompt production rate of $χ_{b1}(1P)$ and $χ_{b2}(1P)$ mesons is measured as a function of the $Υ(1S)$ transverse momentum in the $χ_b$ rapidity range $2.0<y<4.5$. A precise measurement of the $χ_b(3P)$ mass is also performed. Assuming a mass splitting between the $χ_{b1}(3P)$ and the $χ_{b2}(3P)$ states of 10.5 MeV/$c^2$, the measured mass of the $χ_{b1}(3P)$ meson is $ m(χ_{b1}(3P))= 10515.7^{+2.2}_{-3.9}(stat) ^{+1.5}_{-2.1}(syst) MeV/c^2.$

The inclusive $C\!P$ asymmetries of these modes are measured to be $$ A_{C\!P}(B^{\pm} \rightarrow K^{\pm} π^{+} π^{-})= +0.025 \pm 0.004 \pm 0.004 \pm 0.007 \\ A_{C\!P}(B^{\pm} \rightarrow K^{\pm} K^{+} K^{-}) = -0.036 \pm 0.004 \pm 0.002 \pm 0.007 \\ A_{C\!P}(B^{\pm} \rightarrow π^{\pm} π^{+} π^{-})= +0.058 \pm 0.008 \pm 0.009 \pm 0.007 \\ A_{C\!P}(B^{\pm} \rightarrow π^{\pm} K^{+} K^{-})= -0.123 \pm 0.017 \pm 0.012 \pm 0.007 $$ %% where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third is due to the $C\!P$ asymmetry of the $B^{\pm} \rightarrow J/ψK^{\pm}$ reference mode. The distributions of these asymmetries are also studied as functions of position in the Dalitz plot and suggest contributions from rescattering and resonance interference processes.

The dependence of the results on the maximum allowed amount of U-spin breaking is studied. At 68% probability, the value γ= ( 63.5 +7.2 -6.7 ) degrees modulo 180 degrees is determined. In an alternative analysis, the value -2β_s = -0.12 +0.14 -0.16 rad is found. In both measurements, the uncertainties due to U-spin breaking effects up to 50% are included.

A measurement of the inclusive $W \to μν$ production cross-section using data from $pp$ collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 7 {\rm \, TeV}$ is presented. The analysis is based on an integrated luminosity of about $1.0 {\rm \, fb}^{-1}$ recorded with the LHCb detector. Results are reported for muons with a transverse momentum greater than $20 {\rm \, Ge\kern -0.1em V\!/}c$ and pseudorapidity between 2.0 and 4.5. The $W^{+}$ and $W^{-}$ production cross-sections are measured to be $$σ_{W^{+} \to μ^{+}ν} = 861.0 \pm 2.0 \pm 11.2 \pm 14.7 {\rm \, pb},$$ $$σ_{W^{-} \to μ^{-}\overlineν} = 675.8 \pm 1.9 \pm 8.8 \pm 11.6 {\rm \, pb},$$ where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is due to the luminosity determination. Cross-section ratios and differential distributions as functions of the muon pseudorapidity are also presented. The ratio of $W^{+}$ to $W^{-}$ cross-sections in the same fiducial kinematic region is determined to be $$\frac{σ_{W^{+} \to μ^{+}ν}}{σ_{W^{-} \to μ^{-}\overlineν}} = 1.274 \pm 0.005 \pm 0.009,$$ where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Results are in good agreement with theoretical predictions at next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics.

A binned Dalitz plot analysis of $B^\pm \to D K^\pm$ decays, with $D \to K_S π^+π^-$ and $D \to K_S K^+ K^-$, is performed to measure the \CP-violating observables $x_{\pm}$ and $y_{\pm}$, which are sensitive to the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle $γ$. The analysis exploits a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to 3.0\invfb collected by the LHCb experiment. Measurements from CLEO-c of the variation of the strong-interaction phase of the $D$ decay over the Dalitz plot are used as inputs. The values of the parameters are found to be $x_+ = (-7.7 \pm 2.4 \pm 1.0 \pm 0.4)\times 10^{-2}$, $x_- = (2.5 \pm 2.5 \pm 1.0 \pm 0.5) \times 10^{-2}$, $y_+ = (-2.2 \pm 2.5 \pm 0.4 \pm 1.0)\times 10^{-2}$, and $y_- = (7.5 \pm 2.9 \pm 0.5 \pm 1.4) \times 10^{-2}$. The first, second, and third uncertainties are the statistical, the experimental systematic, and that associated with the precision of the strong-phase parameters. These are the most precise measurements of these observables and correspond to $γ= (62^{\,+15}_{\,-14})^\circ$, with a second solution at $γ\to γ+ 180^\circ$, and $r_B = 0.080^{+ 0.019}_{-0.021}$, where $r_B$ is the ratio between the suppressed and favoured $B$ decay amplitudes.

The determination of track reconstruction efficiencies at LHCb using $J/ψ\rightarrowμ^{+}μ^{-}$ decays is presented. Efficiencies above $95\%$ are found for the data taking periods in 2010, 2011, and 2012. The ratio of the track reconstruction efficiency of muons in data and simulation is compatible with unity and measured with an uncertainty of $0.8\,\%$ for data taking in 2010, and at a precision of $0.4\,\%$ for data taking in 2011 and 2012. For hadrons an additional $1.4\,\%$ uncertainty due to material interactions is assumed. This result is crucial for accurate cross section and branching fraction measurements in LHCb.

The measurements are made in several intervals of $μ^+ μ^-$ invariant mass squared, with the $φ(1020)$ and charmonium resonance regions excluded. Under the hypothesis of zero $C\!P$ asymmetry in the control modes, the average values of the asymmetries are \begin{align}

Both measurements are consistent with the Standard Model prediction of small $C\!P$ asymmetry in these decays.

A baryonic decay of the $B_c^+$ meson, $B_c^+\to J/ψp\overline{p}π^+$, is observed for the first time, with a significance of $7.3$ standard deviations, in $pp$ collision data collected with the LHCb detector and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $3.0$ fb$^{-1}$ taken at center-of-mass energies of $7$ and $8$ $\mathrm{TeV}$. With the $B_c^+\to J/ψπ^+$ decay as normalization channel, the ratio of branching fractions is measured to be \begin{equation*} \frac{\mathcal{B}(B_c^+\to J/ψp\overline{p}π^+)}{\mathcal{B}(B_c^+\to J/ψπ^+)} = 0.143^{\,+\,0.039}_{\,-\,0.034}\,(\mathrm{stat})\pm0.013\,(\mathrm{syst}). \end{equation*} The mass of the $B_c^+$ meson is determined as $M(B_c^+)=6274.0\pm1.8\,(\mathrm{stat})\pm0.4\,(\mathrm{syst})\,\mathrm{MeV}/c^2$, using the $B_c^+\to J/ψp\overline{p}π^+$ channel.

Abstract:
The B0bar-B0 and Bsbar-Bs production asymmetries, AP(B0) and AP(Bs), are measured by means of a time-dependent analysis of B0 -> J/ψK*0, B0 -> D- pi+ and Bs -> Ds- pi+ decays, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb^{-1}, collected by LHCb in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The B0bar-B0 and Bsbar-Bs production asymmetries, AP(B0) and AP(Bs), are measured by means of a time-dependent analysis of B0 -> J/ψK*0, B0 -> D- pi+ and Bs -> Ds- pi+ decays, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb^{-1}, collected by LHCb in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The measurements are performed as a function of transverse momentum and pseudorapidity of the B0 and Bs mesons within the LHCb acceptance. The production asymmetries, integrated over pT and eta in the range 4 < pT< 30 GeV/c and 2.5<eta<4.5, are determined to be AP(B0) = (-0.35 +/- 0.76 +/- 0.28)% and AP(Bs) = (1.09 +/- 2.61 +/- 0.66)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.

The radiative transition of the $χ_{b}(3P)$ meson to $Υ(3S)$ is observed for the first time. The $χ_{b1}(3P)$ mass is determined to be $$m(χ_{b1}(3P)) = 10\,511.3 \pm 1.7 \pm 2.5 MeV/c^2,$$ where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.

The first observation of the $B^0_s \to K^{*\pm}K^\mp$ decay and the first evidence for the $B^0_s \to K^{*-}π^+$ decay are reported with branching fractions \begin{eqnarray} {\cal B}(B^0_s \to K^{*\pm}K^\mp) & = & (12.7\pm1.9\pm1.9) \times 10^{-6}, \\ {\cal B}(B^0_s \to K^{*-}π^+) & = & ~(3.3\pm1.1\pm0.5) \times 10^{-6}, \end{eqnarray} where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. In addition, an upper limit of ${\cal B}(B^0 \to K^{*\pm}K^\mp) < 0.4 \ (0.5) \times 10^{-6}$ is set at $90\,% \ (95\,%)$ confidence level.

An excess at $m(\bar{D}^0 K^-) \approx 2.86 {\rm GeV}/c^2$ is found to be an admixture of spin-1 and spin-3 resonances. Therefore the $D^*_{sJ}(2860)^-$ state previously observed in inclusive $e^+e^- \rightarrow \bar{D}^0 K^- X$ and $pp \rightarrow \bar{D}^0 K^- X$ processes consists of at least two particles. This is the first observation of a heavy flavoured spin-3 resonance, and the first time that any spin-3 particle has been seen to be produced in $B$ decays. The masses and widths of the new states and of the $D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ meson are measured, giving the most precise determinations to date.

A model-dependent amplitude analysis of $B^{\pm} \rightarrow D K^{\pm}$ with $D \rightarrow K_S^0 π^+ π^-$ decays is performed using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $1$ fb$^{-1}$, recorded by LHCb at a centre-of-mass energy of $7$ TeV in $2011$. Values of the $CP$ violation observables $x_{\pm}$ and $y_{\pm}$, which are sensitive to the CKM angle $γ$, are measured to be \begin{align*} x_- &= +0.027 \pm 0.044 ^{+0.010}_{-0.008} \pm 0.001, \\ y_- &= +0.013 \pm 0.048 ^{+0.009}_{-0.007} \pm 0.003, \\ x_+ &= -0.084 \pm 0.045 \pm 0.009 \pm 0.005, \\ y_+ &= -0.032 \pm 0.048 ^{+0.010}_{-0.009} \pm 0.008, \end{align*} where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third arises from the uncertainty of the $D \rightarrow K_S^0 π^+ π^-$ amplitude model. The value of $γ$ is determined to be $(84^{+49}_{-42})^\circ$, including all sources of uncertainty. Neutral $D$ meson mixing is found to have negligible effect.

We report on measurements of the time-dependent CP violating observables in $B^0_s\rightarrow D^{\mp}_s K^{\pm}$ decays using a dataset corresponding to 1.0 fb$^{-1}$ of pp collisions recorded with the LHCb detector. We find the CP violating observables $C_f=0.53\pm0.25\pm0.04$, $A^{ΔΓ}_f=0.37\pm0.42\pm0.20$, $A^{ΔΓ}_{\bar{f}}=0.20\pm0.41\pm0.20$, $S_f=-1.09\pm0.33\pm0.08$, $S_{\bar{f}}=-0.36\pm0.34\pm0.08$, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Using these observables together with a recent measurement of the $B^0_s$ mixing phase $-2β_s$ leads to the first extraction of the CKM angle $γ$ from $B^0_s \rightarrow D^{\mp}_s K^{\pm}$ decays, finding $γ$ = (115$_{-43}^{+28}$)$^\circ$ modulo 180$^\circ$ at 68% CL, where the error contains both statistical and systematic uncertainties.

A search is performed for the central exclusive production of pairs of charmonia produced in proton-proton collisions. Using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $3{\rm\ fb}^{-1}$ collected at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, $J/ψJ/ψ$ and $J/ψψ(2S)$ pairs are observed, which have been produced in the absence of any other activity inside the LHCb acceptance that is sensitive to charged particles in the pseudorapidity ranges $(-3.5,-1.5)$ and $(1.5,5.0)$. Searches are also performed for pairs of P-wave charmonia and limits are set on their production. The cross-sections for these processes, where the dimeson system has a rapidity between 2.0 and 4.5, are measured to be $$ \begin{array}{rl} σ^{J/ψJ/ψ} &= 58\pm10{(\rm stat)} \pm 6{(\rm syst)} {\rm\ pb} , \\ σ^{J/ψψ(2S)} &= 63 ^{+27}_{-18}{(\rm stat)}\pm 10{(\rm syst)} {\rm\ pb} , \\ σ^{ψ(2S)ψ(2S)} &< 237 {\rm\ pb}, \\ σ^{χ_{c0}χ_{c0}} &< 69 {\rm\ nb}, \\ σ^{χ_{c1}χ_{c1}} &< 45 {\rm\ pb}, \\ σ^{χ_{c2}χ_{c2}} &< 141 {\rm\ pb}, \\ \end{array} $$ where the upper limits are set at the 90% confidence level. The measured $J/ψJ/ψ$ and $J/ψψ(2S)$ cross-sections are consistent with theoretical expectations.

Three-body $B^+\to p \overline p K^+$ and $B^+\to p \overline p π^+$ decays are studied using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 $fb^{-1}$ collected by the LHCb experiment in proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of $7$ and $8$ TeV. Evidence of CP violation in the $B^+\to p \overline p K^+$ decay is found in regions of the phase space, representing the first measurement of this kind for a final state containing baryons. Measurements of the forward-backward asymmetry of the light meson in the $p\overline p$ rest frame yield $A_{\mathrm{FB}}(p \overline p K^+,~m_{p\overline p}<2.85\mathrm{\,Ge\kern -0.1em V\!/}c^2)=0.495\pm0.012~(\mathrm{stat})\pm0.007~(\mathrm{syst})$ and $A_{\mathrm{FB}}(p\overline p π^+,~m_{p\overline p}<2.85\mathrm{\,Ge\kern -0.1em V\!/}c^2)=-0.409\pm0.033~(\mathrm{stat})\pm0.006~(\mathrm{syst})$. In addition, the branching fraction of the decay $B^+\to\kern 0.1em\overline{\kern -0.1emΛ}(1520)p$ is measured to be $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to \kern 0.1em\overline{\kern -0.1emΛ}(1520)p)=(3.15\pm0.48~(\mathrm{stat})\pm0.07~(\mathrm{syst})\pm0.26~(\mathrm{BF}))\times 10^{-7}$, where BF denotes the uncertainty on secondary branching fractions.

We present a measurement of the ratio of the Bs meson lifetime, in the flavor-specific decay to $D_s^+π^-$, to that of the B0 meson. The pp collision data used correspond to an integrated luminosity of 1/fb, collected with the LHCb detector, at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. Combining our measured value of 1.010 +/- 0.010 +/- 0.008 for this ratio with the known lifetime, we determine the flavor-specific Bs lifetime to be tau(Bs) = 1.535 +/- 0.015 +/- 0.014 ps, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. This is the most precise measurement to date, and is consistent with previous measurements and theoretical predictions.

A measurement of the decay time dependent CP-violating asymmetry in $B_s^0 \to φφ$ decays is presented, along with measurements of the $T$-odd triple-product asymmetries. In this decay channel, the CP-violating weak phase arises from the interference between $B_s^0$-$\bar{B}_s^0$ mixing and the loop-induced decay amplitude. Using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $3.0\, fb^{-1}$ collected with the LHCb detector, a signal yield of approximately 4000 $B_s^0 \to φφ$ decays is obtained. The CP-violating phase is measured to be ${φ_s =-0.17\pm0.15\mathrm{\,(stat)}\pm0.03\mathrm{\,(syst)}}$ rad. The triple-product asymmetries are measured to be ${A_U=-0.003\pm0.017\mathrm{\,(stat)}\pm0.006\mathrm{\,(syst)}}$ and ${A_V=-0.017\pm0.017\mathrm{\,(stat)}\pm0.006\mathrm{\,(syst)}}$. Results are consistent with the hypothesis of CP conservation.

$τ_{B_{s}^{0} \rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}}$ = $1.407~\pm~0.016~\pm~0.007~\mathrm{ps}$,
$τ_{B^{0} \rightarrow K^{+}π^{-}}$ = $1.524~\pm~0.011~\pm~0.004~\mathrm{ps}$,
$τ_{B_{s}^{0} \rightarrow π^{+}K^{-}}$ = $1.60~\pm~0.06~\pm~0.01~\mathrm{ps}$.
This is the most precise determination to date of the effective lifetime in the $B_{s}^{0} \rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}$ decay and provides constraints on contributions from physics beyond the Standard Model to the $B_{s}^{0}$ mixing phase and the width difference $ΔΓ_{s}$.

A measurement of the ratio of the branching fractions of the $B^{+}\rightarrow K^{+}μ^{+}μ^{-}$ and $B^{+}\rightarrow K^{+}e^{+}e^{-}$ decays is presented using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb$^{-1}$, recorded with the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 $\mathrm{\,Te\kern -0.1em V}$. The value of the ratio of branching fractions for the dilepton invariant mass squared range $1<q^{2}<6\mathrm{\,Ge\kern -0.1em V^2\!/}c^4$ is measured to be $0.745^{+0.090}_{-0.074}\mathrm{\,(stat)}\,\pm0.036\mathrm{\,(syst)}$. This value is the most precise measurement of the ratio of branching fractions to date and is compatible with the SM prediction within $2.6$ standard deviations.

The beauty jets are required to satisfy $2<η<4$, $E_{\rm T} > 20$GeV, and have an opening angle in the transverse plane $Δφ>2.6$rad. These measurements are consistent with the predictions of the Standard Model.

\mathcal{A}_{CP}^{D^{\pm}_{s}\rightarrow K^0_{\mathrm{S}} π^{\pm}} & = & (+0.38 \pm 0.46 \pm 0.17) \%, \end{eqnarray*} assuming that $CP$ violation in the Cabibbo-favoured decays is negligible. A combination of the measured asymmetries for the four decay modes $D^{\pm}_{(s)}\rightarrow K^0_{\mathrm{S}} K^{\pm}$ and $D^{\pm}_{(s)}\rightarrow K^0_{\mathrm{S}} π^{\pm}$ gives the sum \[
\mathcal{A}_{CP}^{D^{\pm}\rightarrow K^0_{\mathrm{S}} K^{\pm}} + \mathcal{A}_{CP}^{D^{\pm}_{s}\rightarrow K^0_{\mathrm{S}} π^{\pm}} = (+0.41 \pm 0.49 \pm 0.26) \%. \] In all cases, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The results represent the most precise measurements of these asymmetries to date and show no evidence for CP violation.

A prominent signal is observed and the branching fraction relative to the decay mode $Λ_b^0\rightarrow J/ψp K^-$ is determined to be $$ \frac{{\cal B}(Λ_b^0\rightarrow J/ψp π^-)}{{\cal B}(Λ_b^0\rightarrow J/ψp K^-)}=0.0824\pm0.0025\:(\text{stat})\pm0.0042\:(\text{syst}). $$ A search for direct CP violation is performed. The difference in the CP asymmetries between these two decays is found to be $$ {\cal A}_{CP}(Λ_b^0\rightarrow J/ψp π^-)-{\cal A}_{CP}(Λ_b^0\rightarrow J/ψp K^-)=(+5.7\pm 2.4\:(\text{stat})\pm1.2\:(\text{syst}))\%, $$ which is compatible with CP symmetry at the $2.2σ$ level.

Using a proton-proton collision data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb$^{-1}$ collected by LHCb at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, about 3800 $Ξ_b^0\toΞ_c^+π^-$, $Ξ_c^+\to pK^-π^+$ signal decays are reconstructed. From this sample, the first measurement of the $Ξ_b^0$ baryon lifetime is made, relative to that of the $Λ_b^0$ baryon. The mass differences $M(Ξ_b^0)-M(Λ_b^0)$ and $M(Ξ_c^+)-M(Λ_c^+)$ are also measured with precision more than four times better than the current world averages. The resulting values are $\frac{τ_{Ξ_b^0}}{τ_{Λ_b^0}} = 1.006\pm0.018\pm0.010$, $M(Ξ_b^0) - M(Λ_b^0) = 172.44\pm0.39\pm0.17 MeV/c^2$, $M(Ξ_c^+) - M(Λ_c^+) = 181.51\pm0.14\pm0.10 MeV/c^2$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The relative rate of $Ξ_b^0$ to $Λ_b^0$ baryon production is measured to be $\frac{f_{Ξ_b^0}}{f_{Λ_b^0}}\frac{\cal{B}(Ξ_b^0\toΞ_c^+π^-)}{\cal{B}(Λ_b^0\toΛ_c^+π^-)}\frac{\cal{B}(Ξ_c^+\to pK^-π^+)}{\cal{B}(Λ_c^+\to pK^-π^+)} = (1.88\pm0.04\pm0.03)\times10^{-2}$, where the first factor is the ratio of fragmentation fractions, $b\toΞ_b^0$ relative to $b\toΛ_b^0$. Relative production rates as functions of transverse momentum and pseudorapidity are also presented.

The measurements use proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1 fb$^{-1}$ at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, recorded in the forward region with the LHCb experiment. The relative production rates are observed to depend on the transverse momentum, $p_T$, and pseudorapidity, $η$, of the beauty hadron, in the studied kinematic region $1.5 < p_T < 40$ GeV/$c$ and $2 < η< 5$. Using a previous LHCb measurement of $f_{Λ_b^0}/f_d$ in semileptonic decays, the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(Λ_b^0 \rightarrow Λ_c^+ π^-) = \Big( 4.30 \pm 0.03 \,\, ^{+0.12}_{-0.11} \pm 0.26 \pm 0.21 \Big) \times 10^{-3}$ is obtained, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, the third is from the previous LHCb measurement of $f_{Λ_b^0}/f_d$ and the fourth is due to the $\bar{B}^0 \rightarrow D^+ π^-$ branching fraction. This is the most precise measurement of a $Λ_b^0$ branching fraction to date.

Abstract:
Production of $Υ$ mesons in proton-lead collisions at a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=5 \mathrm{TeV}$ is studied with the LHCb detector. Production of $Υ$ mesons in proton-lead collisions at a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=5 \mathrm{TeV}$ is studied with the LHCb detector. The analysis is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $1.6 \mathrm{nb}^{-1}$. The $Υ$ mesons of transverse momenta up to $15 \mathrm{GeV}/c$ are reconstructed in the dimuon decay mode. The rapidity coverage in the centre-of-mass system is $1.5<y<4.0$ (forward region) and $-5.0<y<-2.5$ (backward region). The forward-backward production ratio and the nuclear modification factor for $Υ(1S)$ mesons are determined. The data are compatible with the predictions for a suppression of $Υ(1S)$ production with respect to proton-proton collisions in the forward region, and an enhancement in the backward region. The suppression is found to be smaller than in the case of prompt $J/ψ$ mesons.

Decays of the form $B^{0}_{(s)}\rightarrow J/ψK_{\rm S}^{0} h^+ h^{\left(\prime\right) -}$ ($h^{(\prime)} = K, π$) are searched for in proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $1.0 \, {\rm fb}^{-1}$ recorded with the LHCb detector. The first observation of the $B^{0}_{s}\rightarrow J/ψK_{\rm S}^{0} K^{\pm} π^{\mp}$ decay is reported, with significance in excess of 10 standard deviations. The $B^{0}\rightarrow J/ψK_{\rm S}^{0} K^{+} K^{-}$ decay is also observed for the first time. The branching fraction of $B^{0}\rightarrow J/ψK_{\rm S}^{0} π^{+} π^{-}$ is determined, to significantly better precision than previous measurements, using $B^0 \rightarrow J/ψK_{\rm S}^{0}$ as a normalisation channel. Branching fractions and upper limits of the other $B^{0}_{(s)}\rightarrow J/ψK_{\rm S}^{0} h^+ h^{\left(\prime\right) -}$ modes are determined relative to that of the $B^{0}\rightarrow J/ψK_{\rm S}^{0} π^{+} π^{-}$ decay.

Time-integrated $CP$ asymmetries in $D^0$ decays to the final states $K^- K^+$ and $π^- π^+$ are measured using proton-proton collisions corresponding to $3\mathrm{\,fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected at centre-of-mass energies of $7\mathrm{\,Te\kern -0.1em V}$ and $8\mathrm{\,Te\kern -0.1em V}$. The $D^0$ mesons are produced in semileptonic $b$-hadron decays, where the charge of the accompanying muon is used to determine the initial flavour of the charm meson. The difference in $CP$ asymmetries between the two final states is measured to be \begin{align}
ΔA_{CP} = A_{CP}(K^-K^+)-A_{CP}(π^-π^+) = (+0.14 \pm 0.16\mathrm{\,(stat)} \pm 0.08\mathrm{\,(syst)})\% \ . \nonumber \end{align} A measurement of $A_{CP}(K^-K^+)$ is obtained assuming negligible $CP$ violation in charm mixing and in Cabibbo-favoured $D$ decays. It is found to be \begin{align}
A_{CP}(K^-K^+) = (-0.06 \pm 0.15\mathrm{\,(stat)} \pm 0.10\mathrm{\,(syst)}) \% \ ,\nonumber \end{align} where the correlation coefficient between $ΔA_{CP}$ and $A_{CP}(K^-K^+)$ is $ρ=0.28$. By combining these results, the $CP$ asymmetry in the $D^0\rightarrowπ^-π^+$ channel is $A_{CP}(π^-π^+)=(-0.20\pm0.19\mathrm{\,(stat)}\pm0.10\mathrm{\,(syst)})\%$.

Using a data sample of pp collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $3~ \rm fb^{-1}$, the $Ξ_b^-$ and $Ω_b^-$ baryons are reconstructed in the $Ξ_b^- \rightarrow J/ψΞ^-$ and $Ω_b^- \rightarrow J/ψΩ^-$ decay modes and their lifetimes measured to be
$τ(Ξ_b^-) = 1.55\, ^{+0.10}_{-0.09}~{\rm(stat)} \pm 0.03\,{\rm(syst)}$ ps,
$τ(Ω_b^-) = 1.54\, ^{+0.26}_{-0.21}~{\rm(stat)} \pm 0.05\,{\rm(syst)}$ ps.
These are the most precise determinations to date. Both measurements are in good agreement with previous experimental results and with theoretical predictions.

The resonant structure of the reaction $\overline{B}^0\rightarrow J/ψπ^+π^-$ is studied using data from 3 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected by the LHCb experiment, one-third at 7 Tev center-of-mass energy and the remainder at 8 Tev. The invariant mass of the $π^+π^-$ pair and three decay angular distributions are used to determine the fractions of the resonant and non-resonant components. Six interfering $π^+π^-$ states: $ρ(770)$, $f_0(500)$, $f_2(1270)$, $ρ(1450)$, $ω(782)$ and $ρ(1700)$ are required to give a good description of invariant mass spectra and decay angular distributions. The positive and negative CP fractions of each of the resonant final states are determined. The $f_0(980)$ meson is not seen and the upper limit on its presence, compared with the observed $f_0(500)$ rate, is inconsistent with a model of tetraquark substructure for these scalar mesons at the eight standard deviation level. In the $q\overline{q}$ model, the absolute value of the mixing angle between the $f_0(980)$ and the $f_0(500)$ scalar mesons is limited to be less than $17^{\circ}$ at 90% confidence level.

The observed evolution of the $Z(4430)^-$ amplitude with the $ψ'π^-$ mass establishes the resonant nature of this particle. The mass and width measurements are substantially improved. The spin-parity is determined unambiguously to be $1^+$.

The analysis is based on a data sample of proton-proton collisions, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3fb$^{-1}$ collected with the LHCb detector, at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8TeV. The ratio of the branching fraction of the $X(3872)\toψ(2S)γ$ decay to that of the $X(3872)\rightarrow J/ψγ$ decay is measured to be $$ \frac{Br(X(3872)\rightarrowψ(2S)γ)}{Br(X(3872)\rightarrow J/ψγ)} = 2.46\pm0.64\pm0.29, %\pm0.06,$$ where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The measured value agrees with expectations for a pure charmonium interpretation of the $X(3872)$ state and a mixture of charmonium and molecular interpretations. However, it does not support a pure $D\bar{D}^{*}$ molecular interpretation of the $X(3872)$state.
