4D Track Reconstruction on Free-Streaming Data at PANDA at FAIR

Abstract: A new generation of experiments is being developed, where the challenge of separating rare signal processes from background at high intensities requires a change of trigger paradigm. At the future PANDA experiment at FAIR, hardware triggers will be abandoned and instead a purely software-based system will be used. This requires novel reconstruction methods with the ability to process data from man… ▽ More A new generation of experiments is being developed, where the challenge of separating rare signal processes from background at high intensities requires a change of trigger paradigm. At the future PANDA experiment at FAIR, hardware triggers will be abandoned and instead a purely software-based system will be used. This requires novel reconstruction methods with the ability to process data from many events simultaneously. A 4D tracking algorithm based on the cellular automaton has been developed which will utilize the timing information from detector signals. Simulation studies have been performed to test its performance on the foreseen free-streaming data from the PANDA detector. For this purpose, a quality assurance procedure for tracking on free-streaming data was implemented in the PANDA software. The studies show that at higher interaction rates, 4D tracking performs better than the 3D algorithm in terms of efficiency, 84% compared to 77%. The fake track suppression is also greatly improved, compared to the 3D tracking with roughly a 50% decrease in the ghost rate. △ Less

Understanding the latter in the non-perturbative regime remains one of the greatest challenges in contemporary physics. The antiproton-nucleon interaction studied with PANDA provides crucial tests in this area. Furthermore, the high-intensity, low-energy domain of PANDA allows for searches for physics beyond the Standard Model, e.g. through high precision symmetry tests. This paper takes into account a staged approach for the detector setup and for the delivered luminosity from the accelerator. A Generalized Approach to Longitudinal Momentum Determination in Cylindrical Straw Tube Detectors

We present a method to reconstruct longitudinal track parameters in PANDA's Straw Tube Tracker, which is general enough to be easily added to other track finding algorithms that focus on transversal reconstruction. For the pattern recognition part of this method, three approaches are employed and compared: A combinatorial path finding approach, a Hough transformation, and a recursive annealing fit. In a systematic comparison, the recursive annealing fit was found to outperform the other approaches in every category of quality parameters and reaches a reconstruction efficacy of 95% and higher. △ Less

Observation of di-structures in $e^+e^-\rightarrow{J}/ψ{\rm X}$ at center-of-mass energies around 3.773 GeV

Abstract: We report a measurement of the observed cross sections of the inclusive $J/ψ$ production in $e^+e^-\rightarrow {J}/ψ{\rm X}$ based on 3.21 fb$^{-1}$ of data accumulated at energies from 3.645 to 3.891 GeV with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII collider. Under this assumption, we extracted their masses, total widths, and the product of the leptonic width and decay branching fractions to be $M_{R(3760)}= {3761.7\pm 2.2 \pm 1.2}$ MeV/$c^2$, $Γ^{\rm tot}_{R(3760)}= {6.7\pm 11.1 \pm 1.1}$ MeV, $Γ^{ee}_{R(3760)}\mathcal B[R(3760)\rightarrow {J}/ψ{\rm X}]=(4.0\pm 4.3\pm 1.2)$ eV, $M_{R(3790)} = {3784.7\pm 5.7 \pm 1.6}$ MeV/$c^2$, $Γ^{\rm tot}_{R(3790)} = {31.6 \pm 11.9 \pm 3.2}$ MeV, $Γ^{ee}_{R(3790)}\mathcal B[R(3790)\rightarrow {J}/ψ{\rm X}]=(18.1\pm 10.3\pm 4.7)$ eV, where the first uncertainties are statistical and second systematic. △ Less

Total and differential cross sections of the $\boldsymbol{dp\to {}^3}\textrm{He}\,\boldsymbolη$ reaction at excess energies between 1 and 15 MeV

Abstract: New high precision total and differential cross sections are reported for the $dp\to {}^3\textrm{He}\,η$ reaction close to threshold. The measurements were performed using the magnetic spectrometer ANKE, which is an internal fixed target facility at the COSY cooler synchrotron. The data were taken for deuteron beam momenta between $3.14641~\textrm{GeV}/c$ and $3.20416~\textrm{GeV}/c$, which corres… ▽ More New high precision total and differential cross sections are reported for the $dp\to {}^3\textrm{He}\,η$ reaction close to threshold. The data were taken for deuteron beam momenta between $3.14641~\textrm{GeV}/c$ and $3.20416~\textrm{GeV}/c$, which corresponds to the range in excess energy $Q$ for this reaction between $1.14~\textrm{MeV}$ and $15.01~\textrm{MeV}$. The normalization was established through the measurement in parallel of deuteron-proton elastic scattering and this was checked through the study of the $dp\to {}^3\textrm{He}\,π^0$ reaction. The previously indicated possible change of sign of the slope of the differential cross sections near the production threshold, which could be explained by a rapid variation of the $s$- and $p$-wave interference term, is not confirmed by the new data. The energy dependence of the total cross section and the $90^{\circ}$ slope parameter are well explained by describing the final state interaction in terms of a complex Jost function and the results are significant in the discussion of $η$-mesic nuclei. In combination with recently published WASA-at-COSY data [P. Adlarson $et\, al.$, Phys. Lett. B 782, 297 (2018)], a smooth variation of the slope parameter is achieved up to an excess energy of $80.9~\textrm{MeV}$. △ Less

Abstract: Using a data sample of $2.93~fb^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collisions collected at $\sqrt{s}=3.773 GeV$ in the BESIII experiment, we perform an analysis of the decay $D^0\rightarrow K_{S}^{0} K^{+} K^{-}$. Model-independent determination of the relative strong-phase difference between $D^0$ and $\bar{D}^0\rightarrow K^0_{S,L}π^+π^-$ and its impact on the measurement of the CKM angle $γ/φ_3$

Abstract: Crucial inputs for a variety of $CP$-violation studies can be determined through the analysis of pairs of quantum-entangled neutral $D$ mesons, which are produced in the decay of the $ψ(3770)$ resonance. Using these parameters, the associated uncertainty on the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle $γ/φ_3$ is expected to be between $0.7^\circ$ and $1.2^\circ$, for an analysis using the decay $B^{\pm}\rightarrow DK^{\pm}$, $D\rightarrow K^0_Sπ^+π^-$, where $D$ represents a superposition of $D^0$ and $\bar{D^0}$ states. This is a factor of three smaller than that achievable with previous measurements. Furthermore, these results provide valuable input for charm-mixing studies, other measurements of $CP$ violation, and the measurement of strong-phase parameters for other $D$-decay modes. △ Less

Study of open-charm decays and radiative transitions of the X(3872)

We observe $X(3872)\to D^{*0}\bar{D^{0}}+c.c.$ and find evidence for $X(3872)\toγJ/ψ$ with statistical significances of $7.4σ$ and $3.5σ$, respectively. It is going to address fundamental questions of hadron physics and quantum chromodynamics using cooled antiproton beams with a high intensity and and momenta between 1.5 and 15 GeV/c.… ▽ More PANDA (anti-Proton ANnihiliation at DArmstadt) is planned to be one of the four main experiments at the future international accelerator complex FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) in Darmstadt, Germany. It is going to address fundamental questions of hadron physics and quantum chromodynamics using cooled antiproton beams with a high intensity and and momenta between 1.5 and 15 GeV/c. PANDA is designed to reach a maximum luminosity of 2x10^32 cm^2 s. Most of the physics programs require an excellent particle identification (PID). The PID of hadronic states at the forward endcap of the target spectrometer will be done by a fast and compact Cherenkov detector that uses the detection of internally reflected Cherenkov light (DIRC) principle. It is designed to cover the polar angle range from 5° to 22° and to provide a separation power for the separation of charged pions and kaons up to 3 standard deviations (s.d.) for particle momenta up to 4 GeV/c in order to cover the important particle phase space. This document describes the technical design and the expected performance of the novel PANDA Disc DIRC detector that has not been used in any other high energy physics experiment (HEP) before. The performance has been studied with Monte-Carlo simulations and various beam tests at DESY and CERN. The final design meets all PANDA requirements and guarantees suffcient safety margins. △ Less

Observation of the $X(2370)$ and search for the $X(2120)$ in $J/ψ\toγK\bar{K} η'$

Abstract: Using a sample of $1.31\times10^{9} ~J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform a study of $J/ψ\toγK\bar{K}η'$. The $X(2370)$ is observed in the $K\bar{K}η'$ invariant-mass distribution with a statistical significance of 8.3$σ$. Its resonance parameters are measured to be $M = 2341.6 \pm 6.5\text{(stat.)} \pm 5.7\text{(syst.)}$~MeV/$c^{2}$ and… ▽ More Using a sample of $1.31\times10^{9} ~J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform a study of $J/ψ\toγK\bar{K}η'$. No evident signal for the $X(2120)$ is observed in the $K\bar{K}η'$ invariant-mass distribution. The upper limits for the product branching fractions of $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to γX(2120)\toγK^{+} K^{-} η')$ and $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\toγX(2120)\toγK_{S}^{0} K_{S}^{0} η')$ are determined to be $1.49\times10^{-5}$ and $6.38\times10^{-6}$ at the 90% confidence level, respectively. △ Less

Measurement of the $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-π^0$ cross section from 0.7 GeV to 3.0 GeV via initial-state radiation

Abstract: The cross section of the process $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-π^0$ is measured with a precision of 1.6% to 25% in the energy range between $0.7$ and 3.0 GeV using the Initial State Radiation method. A data set with an integrated luminosity of $2.93$fb$^{-1}$ taken at the center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=3.773$GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider is used. The branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to π^+π^-π^0)$ is measured to be $(2.188 \pm 0.024 \pm 0.024 \pm0.040 (Γ_{ee}^{J/ψ}))\%$, where $Γ_{ee}^{J/ψ}$ is the dileptonic width of $J/ψ$. Partial wave analysis of $ψ(3686)\rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}η$

Abstract: Using a sample of $(448.1\pm2.9)\times10^6$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform the first partial wave analysis of $ψ(3686)\rightarrow K^+K^-η$. In addition to the well established states, $φ(1020)$, $φ(1680)$, and $K_3^*(1780)$, contributions from $X(1750)$, $ρ(2150)$, $ρ_3(2250)$, and $K^*_2(1980)$ are also observed. This renaissance has been driven in part by the discovery of a plethora of charmonium-like $XYZ$ states at BESIII and $B$ factories, and the observation of an intriguing proton-antiproton threshold enhancement and the possibly related $X(1835)$ meson state at BESIII, as well as the thre… ▽ More There has recently been a dramatic renewal of interest in the subjects of hadron spectroscopy and charm physics. This renaissance has been driven in part by the discovery of a plethora of charmonium-like $XYZ$ states at BESIII and $B$ factories, and the observation of an intriguing proton-antiproton threshold enhancement and the possibly related $X(1835)$ meson state at BESIII, as well as the threshold measurements of charm mesons and charm baryons. We present a detailed survey of the important topics in tau-charm physics and hadron physics that can be further explored at BESIII over the remaining lifetime of BEPCII operation. This survey will help in the optimization of the data-taking plan over the coming years, and provides physics motivation for the possible upgrade of BEPCII to higher luminosity. △ Less

Abstract: The SU(3)-flavor violating decay $J/ψ\toΞ(1530)^{-}\barΞ^{+}+c.c.$ is studied using $(1310.6\pm7.0)\times 10^{6} ~J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII and the branching fraction is measured to be ${\cal{B}}(J/ψ\toΞ(1530)^{-}\barΞ^{+}+c.c.)=(3.17\pm0.02_{\rm stat.}\pm0.08_{\rm syst.})\times10^{-4}$. This is consistent with previous measurements with an improved precision. The mass and width of the $D_{1}(2420)^+$ are measured to be $(2427.2\pm 1.0_{\rm stat.}\pm 1.2_{\rm syst.}) \rm{MeV}/c^2$ and $(23.2\pm 2.3_{\rm stat.} \pm2.3_{\rm syst.}) \rm{MeV}$, respectively. The first errors are statistical and the second ones are systematic. In addition, the Born cross sections of the $e^{+}e^{-} \to D_{1}(2420)^+D^- + c.c. \to D^{+} D^{-} π^{+} π^{-}$ and $e^{+}e^{-} \to ψ(3770) π^{+} π^{-} \to D^{+} D^{-} π^{+} π^{-}$ processes are measured as a function of the center-of-mass energy. △ Less

First observation of the decay $χ_{cJ}\to Σ^{+}\bar{p}K_{S}^{0}+c.c. ~(J = 0, 1, 2)$

Abstract: Using E1 radiative transitions $ψ(3686) \to γχ_{cJ}$ from a sample of $(448.1 \pm 2.9)\times10^{6}$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, the decays $χ_{cJ}\to Σ^{+}\bar{p}K_{S}^{0}+c.c.~(J = 0, 1, 2)$ are studied. Observation of the leptonic decay $D^+ \to τ^+ ν_τ$

Abstract: We report the first observation of $D^+\toτ^+ν_τ$ with a significance of $5.1σ$. We measure ${\cal B}(D^+\toτ^+ν_τ) = (1.20\pm0.24_{\text{stat.}}\pm0.12_{\text{syst.}})\times10^{-3}$. Taking the world average ${\cal B}(D^+\toμ^+ν_μ) = (3.74\pm0.17)\times10^{-4}$, we obtain $R_{τ/μ} =Γ(D^+\toτ^+ν_τ)/Γ(D^+\toμ^+ν_μ) = 3.21\pm0.64_{\text{stat.}}\pm0.43_{\text{syst.}}$, which is consistent with the St… ▽ More We report the first observation of $D^+\toτ^+ν_τ$ with a significance of $5.1σ$. No significant signal is observed of the decay $D^+\toφ{K^+}$ and the upper limit of its branching fraction is set for the first time, to be $2.1\times10^{-5}$ at the $90\%$ confidence level. The ratio of ${\cal B}(D^0\toφπ^0)$ to $\cal B(D^+\toφπ^+)$ is calculated to be $(20.49\pm0.50\pm0.45)\%$, which is consistent with the theoretical prediction based on isospin symmetry between these two decay modes. △ Less

Evidence for $Z_{c}^{\pm}$ decays into the $ρ^{\pm} η_{c}$ final state

Evidence for the decay $\zcpm\to\rhopm\etac$ is reported with a statistical significance of $3.9σ$ with various systematic uncertainties taken into account at $\sqrt{s} = 4.226$ GeV,… ▽ More We study $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions with a $π^{+}π^{-}π^{0}η_{c}$ final state using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}=4.226$, $4.258$, $4.358$, $4.416$, and $4.600$ GeV. Evidence for the decay $\zcpm\to\rhopm\etac$ is reported with a statistical significance of $3.9σ$ with various systematic uncertainties taken into account at $\sqrt{s} = 4.226$ GeV, and the Born cross section times branching fraction $σ^{B}(\EE\to \pimp\zcpm)\times \BR(\zcpm\to\rhopm\etac)$ is measured to be $(48 \pm 11 \pm 11)\,\rm{pb}$. The $\zcpm\to \rhopm\etac$ signal is not significant at the other center-of-mass energies and the corresponding upper limits are determined. In addition, no significant signal is observed in a search for $\zcppm\to ρ^{\pm}\etac$ with the same data samples. The ratios $R_{\zc}=\BR(\zcpm\to ρ^{\pm} \etac)/\BR(\zcpm\to π^{\pm} \jpsi)$ and $R_{\zcp}=\BR(\zcppm\to ρ^{\pm} \etac)/\BR(\zcppm\to π^{\pm} \hc)$ are obtained and used to discriminate between different theoretical interpretations of the $\zcpm$ and $\zcppm$. △ Less

Abstract: Using a sample of $(1310.6\pm7.0)\times10^6$ $J/ψ$ events recorded with the BESIII detector at the symmetric electron positron collider BEPCII, we report the observation of the decay of the $(1^1 S_0)$ charmonium state $η_c$ into a pair of $ω$ mesons in the process $J/ψ\toγωω$. In addition, the electromagnetic form-factor ratio ($|G_{E}/G_{M}|$) and the value of the effective ($|G_{\rm{eff}}|$), electric ($|G_E|$) and magnetic ($|G_M|$) form factors are measured by studying the helicity angle of the proton at 16 center-of-mass energy points. $|G_{E}/G_{M}|$ and $|G_M|$ are determined with high accuracy, providing uncertainties comparable to data in the space-like region, and $|G_E|$ is measured for the first time. We reach unprecedented accuracy, and precision results in the time-like region provide information to improve our understanding of the proton inner structure and to test theoretical models which depend on non-perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics. △ Less

Measurements of Weak Decay Asymmetries of $Λ_c^+\to pK_S^0$, $Λπ^+$, $Σ^+π^0$, and $Σ^0π^+$

Partial-wave analysis of $J/ψ\to K^+K^-π^0$

Abstract: A partial-wave analysis of the decay $J/ψ\to K^+K^-π^0$ has been made using $(223.7\pm1.4)\times 10^{6}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector in 2009. The analysis, which is performed within the isobar-model approach, reveals contributions from $K^*_2(1430)^\pm$, $K^*_2(1980)^\pm$ and $K^*_4(2045)^\pm$ decaying to $K^\pmπ^0$. A data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 66.9 pb$^{-1}$, was collected with the BESIII detector for this purpose. A multi-dimensional analysis with a complete decomposition of the spin structure of the reaction enables a determination of the modulus of the ratio $R=|G_E/G_M|$ and, for the first time for any baryon, the relative phase $ΔΦ=Φ_E-Φ_M$. The resulting values are obtained using the recent and most precise measured value of the asymmetry parameter $α_Λ$ = $0.750~\pm~0.010$ to be $R~=~0.96\pm0.14~(\rm stat.)\pm~0.02~(\rm sys.)$ and $ΔΦ=37^{\mathrm{o}}\pm~12^{\mathrm{o}}~(\rm stat.)\pm~6^{\mathrm{o}}~(\rm sys.)$, respectively. In addition, the cross section is measured with unprecedented precision to be $σ= 118.7~\pm~5.3~(\rm stat.)\pm~5.1~(\rm sys.)$ pb, which corresponds to an effective form factor of $|G|=0.123~\pm~0.003~(\rm stat.)\pm~0.003~(\rm sys.)$. The contribution from two-photon exchange is found to be negligible. Our result enables the first complete determination of baryon time-like electromagnetic form factors. △ Less

The proposed heavy-quark-spin-symmetry partner of the $X(3872)$, the state $X_{2}(4013)$, is also searched for in the $D\bar{D}$ invariant mass spectra. No obvious signal is found. The upper limit of the Born cross section of the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to ρ^{0}X_{2}(4013)$ combined with the branching fraction is measured. Also, the processes $e^{+}e^{-}\to D_{1}(2420)\bar{D} + c.c.$ are investigated. The neutral mode with $D_{1}(2420)^{0}\to D^{0}π^{+}π^{-}$ is reported with statistical significance of 7.4$σ$ at $\sqrt{s} = 4.42$ GeV for the first time, and evidence with statistical significance of 3.2$σ$ and 3.3$σ$ at $\sqrt{s}$ = 4.36 and 4.60 GeV is seen, respectively. No evident signal for the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to D_{1}(2420)^{0}\bar{D}^{0} + c.c., D_{1}(2420)^{0}\to D^{*+}π^{-}$ is reported. Evidence for $e^{+}e^{-}\to D_{1}(2420)^{+}D^{-} +~c.c., D_{1}(2420)^{+}\to D^{+}π^{+}π^{-}$ is reported with statistical significance of 3.1$σ$ and 3.0$σ$ at $\sqrt{s}$ = 4.36 and 4.42 GeV, respectively. △ Less

Study of $e^+e^- \to γωJ/ψ$ and Observation of $X(3872) \to ωJ/ψ$

Abstract: We study the $e^+e^-\toγωJ/ψ$ process using $11.6 ~\rm fb^{-1}$ $e^+ e^-$ annihilation data taken at center-of-mass energies from $\sqrt{s}=4.008~\rm GeV$ to $4.600~\rm GeV$ with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. The $X(3872)$ resonance is observed for the first time in the $ωJ/ψ$ system with a significance of more than $5σ$. The $\sqrt{s}$-dependent cross section of $e^+e^-\toγX(3872)$ is also measured and investigated, and it can be described by a single Breit-Wigner resonance, referred to as the $Y(4200)$, with a mass of $4200.6^{+7.9}_{-13.3}\pm3.0~{\rm MeV}/c^2$ and a width of $115^{+38}_{-26}\pm12~{\rm MeV}$. In addition, to describe the $ωJ/ψ$ mass distribution above $3.9~\rm GeV/c^2$, we need at least one additional Breit-Wigner resonance, labeled as $X(3915)$, in the fit. The mass and width of the $X(3915)$ are measured to be $3926.4\pm2.2\pm1.2~\rm MeV/c^2$ and $3.8\pm7.5\pm2.6~\rm MeV$, or $3932.6\pm8.7\pm4.7~\rm MeV/c^2$ and $59.7\pm15.5\pm3.7~\rm MeV$, respectively, depending on the fit models. The resonant parameters of the $X(3915)$ agree with those of the $Y(3940)$ in $B\to KωJ/ψ$ and of the $X(3915)$ in $γγ\toωJ/ψ$ by the Belle and BABAR experiments within errors. △ Less

We present the first measurement of the $K_{S}^{0}$-$K_{L}^{0}$ asymmetry in the decays $D_{s}^{+} \rightarrow K_{S,L}^{0}K^{+}$, and $R(D_{s}^{+} \rightarrow K_{S,L}^{0}K^{+})=\frac{\mathcal{B}(D_{s}^{+} \rightarrow K_{S}^{0}K^{+}) -\mathcal{B}(D_{s}^{+} \rightarrow K_{L}^{0}K^{+})}{\mathcal{B}(D_{s}^{+} \rightarrow K_{S}^{0}K^{+}) +\mathcal{B}(D_{s}^{+} \rightarrow K_{L}^{0}K^{+})}= (-2.1\pm1.9_{\rm stat.}\pm1.6_{\rm syst.})\%$. In addition, we measure the direct $CP$ asymmetries $A_{\rm CP}(D_{s}^{\pm} \rightarrow K_{S}^{0}K^{\pm}) = (0.6\pm2.8_{\rm stat.}\pm0.6_{\rm syst.})\%$ and $A_{\rm CP}(D_{s}^{\pm} \rightarrow K_{L}^{0}K^{\pm}) = (-1.1\pm2.6_{\rm stat.}\pm0.6_{\rm syst.})\%$. △ Less

Abstract: We present the first amplitude analysis of the decay $D^{+}_{s} \rightarrow π^{+}π^{0}η$. We use an $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.19~${\mbox{\,fb}^{-1}}$ collected with the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of $4.178$ GeV. We measure the absolute branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(D_{s}^{+} \rightarrow a_{0}(980)^{+(0)}π^{0^(+)}, a_{0}(980)^{+(0)} \to π^{+(0)}η) = (1.46\pm0.15_{\rm stat.}\pm0.23_{\rm sys.})$\%, which is larger than the branching fractions of other measured pure $W$-annihilation decays by at least one order of magnitude. Observation of $ψ(3686)\to p\bar{p}φ$

Abstract: Using a data sample of $4.48\times10^{8}$ $\psip$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we present a first observation of $ψ(3686)\to p\bar{p}φ$, and we measure its branching fraction to be $[6.06\pm0.38 ($stat.$) \pm 0.48 ($syst.$)]\times10^{-6}$. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limits on the branching fraction at the 90\% confidence level are set to be $\mathcal{B}\,(D^0 \to K^- π^- e^+ e^+)<2.8\times10^{-6}$,… ▽ More Using the data sample of an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb$^{-1}$ taken at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV, we search for the Majorana neutrino in the lepton number violating decays $D\to K πe^+ e^+$. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limits on the branching fraction at the 90\% confidence level are set to be $\mathcal{B}\,(D^0 \to K^- π^- e^+ e^+)<2.8\times10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}\,(D^+ \to K_S^0 π^- e^+ e^+)<3.3\times10^{-6}$ and $\mathcal{B}\,(D^+ \to K^- π^0 e^+ e^+)<8.5\times10^{-6}$. The Majorana neutrino is searched for with different mass assumptions ranging from 0.25 to 1.0 GeV/$c^2$ in the decays $D^0\to K^- e^+ ν_N(π^- e^+)$ and $D^+\to K_S^0 e^+ ν_N(π^- e^+)$, and the upper limits on the branching fraction at the 90\% confidence level are extracted to be at the level of $10^{-7} \sim 10^{-6}$, depending on the mass of Majorana neutrino.
