We report the beam energy and collision centrality dependence of fifth and sixth order cumulants ($C_{5}$, $C_{6}$) and factorial cumulants ($κ_{5}$, $κ_{6}$) of net-proton and proton distributions, from $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 3 - 200$ GeV Au+Au collisions at RHIC. The net-proton cumulant ratios generally follow the hierarchy expected from QCD thermodynamics, except for the case of collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 3 GeV. $C_{6}/C_{2}$ for 0-40\% centrality collisions is increasingly negative with decreasing $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$, while it is positive for the lowest $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ studied. These observed negative signs are consistent with QCD calculations (at baryon chemical potential, $μ_{B} \leq$ 110 MeV) that include a crossover quark-hadron transition. In addition, for $\sqrt{s_{NN}} \geq$ 11.5 GeV, the measured proton $κ_{n}$, within uncertainties, does not support the two-component shape of proton distributions that would be expected from a first-order phase transition. Taken in combination, the hyper-order proton number fluctuations suggest that the structure of QCD matter at high baryon density, $μ_{B}\sim 750$ MeV ($\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 3 GeV) is starkly different from those at vanishing $μ_{B}\sim 20$MeV ($\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV and higher).

We report on measurements of sequential $Υ$ suppression in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_\mathrm{NN}}}$ = 200 GeV with the STAR detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) through both the dielectron and dimuon decay channels. In the 0-60% centrality class, the nuclear modification factors ($R_{\mathrm{AA}}$), which quantify the level of yield suppression in heavy-ion collisions compared to $p$+$p$ collisions, for $Υ$(1S) and $Υ$(2S) are $0.40 \pm 0.03~\textrm{(stat.)} \pm 0.03~\textrm{(sys.)} \pm 0.09~\textrm{(norm.)}$ and $0.26 \pm 0.08~\textrm{(stat.)} \pm 0.02~\textrm{(sys.)} \pm 0.06~\textrm{(norm.)}$, respectively, while the upper limit of the $Υ$(3S) $R_{\mathrm{AA}}$ is 0.17 at a 95% confidence level. This provides experimental evidence that the $Υ$(3S) is significantly more suppressed than the $Υ$(1S) at RHIC. The level of suppression for $Υ$(1S) is comparable to that observed at the much higher collision energy at the Large Hadron Collider. These results point to the creation of a medium at RHIC whose temperature is sufficiently high to strongly suppress excited $Υ$ states.

This work presents a theoretical study regarding photovoltaic (PV) & thermoelectric (TE) applications of ScAgC. The electronic, optical and thermoelectric properties are investigated using DFT and semi-classical Boltzmann transport theory. DFT calculates a direct band-gap of $\sim$$0.47$ eV, while $G_{0}W_{0}$ method estimates a band-gap of $\sim1.01$ eV. We used parabola fitting to estimate effective mass ($m^{*}$) values for bands B1-B4 at $Γ$-point, which are $\sim$ -0.087 (-0.075), $\sim$ -0.17 (-0.27), $\sim$ -0.17 (-0.27), and $\sim$ 0.049 (0.058) along the $Γ-X$ ($Γ-L$) direction, respectively. We also examine phonon dispersion and thermal properties. Furthermore, optoelectronics' properties are calculated within the energy range of 0 to 10 eV. The optical conductivity $σ(ω)$, refractive index $\tilde{n}(ω)$, and dielectric function $ε(ω)$ show strong optical transitions in the visible region. The lowest calculated value of reflectivity r($ω$) is $\sim$0.24 at $\sim$4.7 eV, and the highest calculated value of absorption coefficient $α(ω)$ is $\sim1.7\times 10^{6} cm^{-1}$ at $\sim$ 8.5 eV. At 300 K, we expect a maximum solar efficiency (SLME) of $\sim$33% at $\sim$1 $μm$. The lattice thermal conductivity $κ_{ph}$ shows maximum value of $\sim$3.8 W$m^{-1}K^{-1}$ at 1200 K. At 1200 K, for electron do** of $\sim$3.9$\times$$10^{21}$$cm^{-3}$, the maximum value of $S^{2}σ/τ$ is $\sim$145 $\times 10^{14}$ $μWK^{-2}cm^{-1}s^{-1}$, while for hole do** of $\sim$1.5$\times$$10^{21}$$cm^{-3}$, it is $\sim$123 $\times 10^{14}$ $μWK^{-2}cm^{-1}s^{-1}$. The highest $ZT$ at 1200 K is expected to be $\sim$0.53, whereas the optimal \%efficiency is predicted as $\sim$8.5% for cold (hot) temperatures of 300 (1200) K. The results suggest that ScAgC can be a potential candidate for solar cell and TE applications.

The quantum spin liquid states as a natural ground state of the Kitaev model has led to a quest for new materials candidates hosting Kitaev physics. Yet, there are very few material candidates in this category. Using a combination of $ab$ $initio$ and model Hamiltonian methods, we propose that Ruddlesden-Popper compound Sr$_4$RhO$_6$ belongs to this category. With a tight-binding model and exact diagonalization approach, we show that despite substantial trigonal-like distortion, the electronic and magnetic properties of Sr$_4$RhO$_6$ can be well described in terms of pseudo-spin = 1/2 states. Magnetic interactions among pseudo-spins, estimated using the second-order perturbation method are highly bond-dependent anisotropic in nature with two particularly noticeable features, antiferromagnetic Kitaev and Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions. The gaped spin-wave spectra of Sr$_4$RhO$_6$ obtained with linear spin-wave theory is consistent with the underlying magnetic frustration. Additional analysis of the role of individual or a particular combination of magnetic interactions reveals that the spin-wave spectra of Sr$_4$RhO$_6$ is a combined effect of the highly anisotropic interactions and a relatively simpler minimal model may not be plausible in the current case. The crucial insights about coupling between the local structural features and magnetic properties of Sr$_4$RhO$_6$ obtained in this study may be helpful for future studies belonging to this class.

These new measurements on the $Λ$ binding-energy difference in A = 4 hypernuclei systems are consistent with the theoretical calculations that result in $\rm ΔB_Λ^4(1_{exc}^{+})\approx -ΔB_Λ^4(0_{g.s.}^{+})<0$ and present a new method for the study of CSB effect using relativistic heavy-ion collisions.

Vehicular platooning is a promising way to facilitate efficient movement of vehicles with a shared route. Despite its relevance, the interplay of platooning and the communication performance in the resulting vehicular network (VN) is largely unexplored. Inspired by this, we develop a comprehensive approach to statistical modeling and system-level analysis of VNs with platooned traffic. Modeling the network of roads using the by-now well-accepted Poisson line process (PLP), we place vehicles on each road according to an independent Matern cluster process (MCP) that jointly captures randomness in the locations of platoons on the roads and vehicles within each platoon. The resulting triply-stochastic point process is a PLP-driven-Cox process, which we term the PLP-MCP. We first present this new point process's distribution and derive several fundamental properties essential for the resulting VN's analysis. Assuming that the cellular base-stations (BSs) are distributed as a Poisson point process (PPP), we derive the distribution of the loads served by the typical BS and the BS associated with the typical user. In deriving the latter, we also present a new approach to deriving the length distribution of a tagged chord in a Poisson Voronoi tessellation. Using the derived results, we present the rate coverage of the typical user while considering partial loading of the BSs. We also provide a comparative analysis of VNs with and without platooning of traffic.

Axionlike particles (ALPs) can be produced in the Sun, and are considered viable candidates for the cosmological dark matter (DM). It can decay into two photons or interact with matter. We identify new inelastic channels of inverse Primakoff processes due to atomic excitation and ionization. Their cross sections are derived by incorporating full electromagnetic fields of atomic charge and current densities, and computed by well-benchmarked atomic many-body methods. Complementing data from the underground XENONnT and surface TEXONO experiments are analyzed. Event rates and sensitivity reaches are evaluated with respect to solar- and DM-ALPs. New parameter space in ALP couplings with the photons versus ALP masses in (1~eV$-$10~keV) not previously accessible to laboratory experiments are probed and excluded with solar-ALPs. However, at regions where DM-ALPs have already decayed, there would be no ALP-flux and hence no interactions at the detectors in direct search experiments. No physics constraints can be derived. Future projects would be able to evade the stability bound and open new observable windows in (100~eV$-$1~MeV) for DM-ALPs.

Mode coupling dynamics between long-wavelength EPW mode of scale k and ion inhomogeneity of scale $k_{0}$ is illustrated. Validity of well known Bessel function $J_{n}(x)$ scaling in the cold plasma approximation (i.e., when phase velocity $ω/k >> v_{thermal}$) along-with the effect of ion inhomogeneity amplitude (A) on temporal evolution of energy density in the long-wavelength EPW mode is investigated. Effect of finite system sizes on the Bessel $J_{n}(x)$ scaling is examined and scaling law for $τ_{FM}$ i.e the time required to attain first minimum of energy density of the corresponding perturbed mode (also called phase mixing time for $k \sim 0$ modes) versus ion inhomogeneity amplitude A obtained from both kinetic and fluid solutions for each of the cases studied, along-with some major differences in $τ_{FM}$ scaling for small system sizes is also reported.

The fractional diffusion equation is considered in terms of the generalized fractional derivatives (GFDs) which uses the scale and weight functions in the definition. The GFD reduces to the Riemann-Liouville, Caputo derivatives and other fractional derivatives in a particular case. Due to importance of the scale and the weight functions in describing behaviour of real-life physical systems, we present the solutions of the GFDEs by considering various scale and weight functions. The convergence and stability analysis are also discussed for finite difference scheme (FDS) to validate the proposed method. We consider test examples for numerical simulation of FDS to justify the proposed numerical method.

The inclusive jet asymmetry measurements include $A_N$ for inclusive jets and $A_N$ for jets containing a charged pion carrying a momentum fraction $z>0.3$ of the jet momentum. The identified hadron within jet asymmetry measurements include the Collins effect for charged pions, kaons and protons, and the Collins-like effect for charged pions. The measured asymmetries are determined for several distinct kinematic regions, characterized by the jet transverse momentum $p_{T}$ and pseudorapidity $η$, as well as the hadron momentum fraction $z$ and momentum transverse to the jet axis $j_{T}$. These results probe higher momentum scales ($Q^{2}$ up to $\sim$\,900 GeV$^{2}$) than current, semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering measurements, and they provide new constraints on quark transversity in the proton and enable tests of evolution, universality and factorization breaking in the transverse-momentum-dependent formalism.

In this paper, we present second ($v_{2}$) and third ($v_{3}$) order azimuthal anisotropies of $K_{S}^{0}$, $φ$, $Λ$, $Ξ$ and $Ω$ at mid-rapidity ($|y|<$1) in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\text{NN}}}$ = 54.4 GeV measured by the STAR detector. The $v_{2}$ and $v_{3}$ are measured as a function of transverse momentum and centrality. Their energy dependence is also studied. $v_{3}$ is found to be more sensitive to the change in the center-of-mass energy than $v_{2}$. Scaling by constituent quark number is found to hold for $v_{2}$ within 10%. This observation could be evidence for the development of partonic collectivity in 54.4 GeV Au+Au collisions. Differences in $v_{2}$ and $v_{3}$ between baryons and anti-baryons are presented, and ratios of $v_{3}$/$v_{2}^{3/2}$ are studied and motivated by hydrodynamical calculations. The ratio of $v_{2}$ of $φ$ mesons to that of anti-protons ($v_{2}(φ)/v_{2}(\bar{p})$) shows centrality dependence at low transverse momentum, presumably resulting from the larger effects from hadronic interactions on anti-proton $v_{2}$.

In this paper, we describe loading of $^{87}$Rb atoms in the MOT using a narrow open transition at 420 nm from the routinely implemented MOT using broad cyclic transition at 780 nm (IR). The total linewidth of the blue transition, 5S$_{1/2} \rightarrow $ 6P$_{3/2}$ is 1.4 MHz, which is around 4 times narrower than the standard 5S$_{1/2} \rightarrow$ 5P$_{3/2}$ cyclic transition. We have also studied the behavior of the blue MOT with various parameters such as hold time, detuning and power of trap** and repumper beams.

Recent studies on different topological materials in condensed matter physics have provided the evidence of topological nature for bosonic particle like phonons by performing various theoretical calculations and experimental observations. Here, the topological behaviours of phonons of SnS, SnSe and SnTe materials in rock-salt structure are investigated using $ab$-$initio$ methodology. For all these materials, the tilted linear band touching is observed along with the presence of band inversion in direction X-W. The topological point in phonon dispersion curve along X-W direction is found to be $\sim$2.83, $\sim$2.46 and $\sim$2.51 THz for SnS, SnSe and SnTe, respectively. The calculated numbers of Weyl points (WPs) is estimated to be 56, 24 and 54 for SnS, SnSe and SnTe, respectively. These WPs have shown conserved Chiral charges for all corresponding materials. The surface local density of states is computed for these compounds, where the surface arc is clearly seen. In case of SnS, the surface arc is found at 2.0 - 2.2 THz energy region. Also, the isofrequency surface states are investigated to observe the presence of Fermi arc for SnX (X = S, Se, Te). The present first-principles calculation predicts that SnS, SnSe and SnTe show type-II Weyl phononic behaviour along with evidence of topological phononic surface states.

In the quest for materials hosting Kitaev spin liquids, much of the efforts have been focused on the fourth- and fifth-row transition metal compounds, which are spin-orbit coupling assisted Mott insulators. Here, we study the structural and magnetic properties of 3$d$ transition metal oxides, Na$_2$Co$_2$TeO$_6$ and Na$_3$Co$_2$SbO$_6$. The partial occupancy of sodium in former compound is addressed using a cluster expansion, and a honeycomb lattice of sodiums is found to be energetically favored. Starting from the \textit{ab initio} band structures, a many-body second order perturbation theory leads to a pseudospin-$\frac{1}{2}$ Hamiltonian with estimated magnetic interactions. We show that the experimentally observed zigzag magnetic state is stabilized only when the first neighbor Kitaev coupling dominates over the Heisenberg term, both of which are highly suppressed due to presence of $e_g$ orbitals. A third neighbor Heisenberg interaction is found dominant in both these compounds. We also present a phase diagram for Na$_2$Co$_2$TeO$_6$ by varying the electron-electron and spin-orbit interactions. The computed spin excitation spectra are found to capture essential features of recent experimental magnon spectrum, lending support to our results.

Both SnS and SnSe have been experimentally and theoretically confirmed as topological crystalline insulators in native rocksalt structure. Here, phononic structure, thermodynamical properties and temperature dependent electron-phonon interaction (EPI) have investigated for both the materials in rocksalt phase. Previously performed theoretical studies have predicted the phase instability of SnS in this crystal structure at ambient condition. But, after a detailed study performing on the phonon calculation of SnS, we have predicted the phase stability of SnS with considering the Sn 4$p$ orbitals as valence states in $ab-initio$ calculation. The importance of long range Coulomb forces along with the themodynamical properties are also described in detailed for both materials. The preliminary evidence of topological phonon is found along X-W direction, where the linear band touching is observed as compared to type II Weyl phononic material ZnSe. The topological phase transition is seen for these materials due to EPI, where non-linear temperature dependent bandgap is estimated. The predicted value of transition temperature for SnS (SnSe) is found to be $\sim$700 K, where after this temperature the non-trivial to trivial topological phase is seen. The strength of EPI shows more stronger impact on the electronic structure of SnS than SnSe material. The reason of non-linear behaviour of bandgap with rise in temperature is discussed with the help of temperature dependent linewidths and lineshifts of conduction band and valence band due to EPI. The present study reveals the phase stability of SnS along with the comparative study of thermal effect on EPI of SnS and SnSe. Further, the possibility of temperature induced topological phase transition provides one of important behaviour to apply these two materials for device making application.

Two-particle correlation measurements projected onto two-dimensional, transverse rapidity coordinates ($y_{T1},y_{T2}$), allow access to dynamical properties of the QCD medium produced in relativistic heavy-ion collisions that angular correlation measurements are not sensitive to. We report non-identified charged-particle correlations for Au + Au minimum-bias collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 200 GeV taken by the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC). Correlations are presented as 2D functions of transverse rapidity for like-sign, unlike-sign and all charged-particle pairs, as well as for particle pairs whose relative azimuthal angles lie on the near-side, the away-side, or at all relative azimuth. The correlations are constructed using charged particles with transverse momentum $p_T \geq 0.15$ GeV/$c$, pseudorapidity from $-$1 to 1, and azimuthal angles from $-π$ to $π$. The significant correlation structures that are observed evolve smoothly with collision centrality. The major correlation features include a saddle shape plus a broad peak with maximum near $y_T \approx 3$, corresponding to $p_T \approx$ 1.5 GeV/$c$. The broad peak is observed in both like- and unlike-sign charge combinations and in near- and away-side relative azimuthal angles. The all-charge, all-azimuth correlation measurements are compared with the theoretical predictions of {\sc hi**g} and {\sc epos}. The results indicate that the correlations for peripheral to mid-central collisions can be approximately described as a superposition of nucleon + nucleon collisions with minimal effects from the QCD medium. Strong medium effects are indicated in mid- to most-central collisions.

Here, we present the phonon calculations for thermodynamic properties, thermal expansion and lattice thermal conductivity of Fe$_{2}$VAl in the temperature range of $300-800$ K and compared with existing experiment. Phonon dispersion is computed using finite displacement method and supercell approach. The positive frequencies of all the phonon modes indicate the mechanical stability of the compound. The specific heat at constant volume and Helmholtz free energy are calculated under harmonic approximation, while calculation of thermal expansion is done under quasi-harmonic approximation. Lattice thermal conductivity ($κ_{L}$) is calculated using first-principle anharmonic lattice dynamics calculations. The zero-point energy and Debye temperature are computed as $\sim$21 kJ/mol and 638 K, respectively. The calculated thermal expansions are found to be $\sim$6.3 $\times$ 10$^{-6}$ K$^{-1}$ and $\sim$7.2 $\times$ 10$^{-6}$ K$^{-1}$ at 300 and 800 K, respectively. A significant deviation between calculated ($\sim$48.6 W/m-K) and experimental ($\sim$22.8 W/m-K) values of $κ_{L}$ are observed at 300 K. But, as the temperature increases, the calculated and experimental $κ_{L}$ come closer with the corresponding values of $\sim$18.2 W/m-K and $\sim$11.0 W/m-K at 800. The possible reasons for the deviation of $κ_{L}$ are addressed. The temperature dependent of phonon lifetime is computed in order to understand the feature of $κ_{L}$. Present study suggests that DFT based phononic calculations provide reasonably good explanations of available experimental phonon related properties of Fe$_{2}$VAl in the high temperature range of $300-800$ K.

We propose a novel mechanism where Primordial Black Hole (PBH) dark matter is formed much later in the history of the universe between the epoch of Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) and Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) photon decoupling. In our setup, one does not need to modify the scale-invariant inflationary power spectra; instead, a late phase transition in strongly interacting fermion-scalar fluid (which naturally occurs around red-shift $ 10^6 \leq \, z_{\scriptscriptstyle T} \, \leq 10^8$ ) creates an instability in the density perturbation as sound speed turns imaginary. As a result, the dark matter perturbation grows exponentially in sub-Compton scales. This follows the immediate formation of early dense dark matter halo, which finally evolves into PBH due to cooling through scalar radiation. We calculate the variance of the density perturbations and PBH fractional abundances $f(M)$ by using a non-monochromatic mass function. We find the peak of our PBH mass function lies between $10^{-16} - 10^{-14}$ solar mass for $ z_{\scriptscriptstyle T} \simeq 10^6$, and thus it can be the entire dark matter of the universe. In PBH formation, one would expect a temporary phase where an attractive scalar balances the Fermi pressure. We numerically confirm that such a state indeed exists, and we find the radius and density profile of the temporary static structure of the dark matter halo, which finally evolves to PBH due to cooling through scalar radiation.

Heusler type compounds have long been recognized as potential thermoelectric (TE) materials. Here, the experimentally observed TE properties of Fe$_{2}$VAl are understood through electronic structure calculations in the temperature range of $300-800$ K. The observed value of $S$ is $\sim-$138 $μ$V/K at 300 K. Then, the $|S|$ decreases with increase in temperature up to the highest temperature with the value of $\sim-$18 $μ$V/K at 800 K. The negative sign of $S$ in the full temperature window signifies the dominating $n$-type character of the compound. The temperature dependent of electrical conductivity, $σ$ (thermal conductivity, $κ$) exhibits the increasing (decreasing) trend with the values of $\sim$1.2 $\times$ 10$^{5}$ $Ω^{-1}$m$^{-1}$ ($\sim$23.7 W/m-K) and $\sim$2.2 $\times$ 10$^{5}$ $Ω^{-1}$m$^{-1}$ ($\sim$15.3 W/m-K) at 300 K and 800 K, respectively. In order to understand these transport properties, the DFT based semi-classical Boltzmann theory is used. The contributions of multi-band electron and hole pockets are found to be mainly responsible for the temperature dependent trend of these properties. The decrement of $|S|$ and increment of $σ/τ$ $\&$ $κ_{e}/τ$ ($τ$ is relaxation time) with temperature is directly related with the contribution of multiple hole pockets. Present study suggests that DFT based electronic calculations provide reasonably good explanations of experimental TE properties of Fe$_{2}$VAl in the high temperature range of $300-800$ K.

During cosmic dawn, the thermal history of the universe is well studied, and a study of this era can give us some of the most useful insight into the universe before the recombination epoch. Its precise modeling and future high-precision measurements will be a valuable tool for determining the thermal history of the universe. In the present work, we study the thermal and ionization history of IGM in the presence of decaying magnetic fields via ambipolar and turbulent decay, Baryon-Dark matter (BDM) interaction, including the DM decay/annihilation. The BDM interaction cross-sections considered are of the form $σ=σ_0 v^{n}$, where $n=-2$ and $n=-4$. In this work, we show that in the current scenario, the decay/annihilation of the DM particles have a considerable impact on the temperature and ionization histories at low redshift. With the addition of the concept of fractional interaction, which states that if a fraction of the DM particles interacts with the baryons, the temperature and ionization fraction of the baryons show a strong dependence on the percentage of DM particles interacting with the baryons. We have also studied the interesting consequences of the present scenario on the thermal Sunyaev-Zeldovich (tSZ) effect. We show that the highest value of the absolute value of the mean $y-$parameter in the current DM decay/annihilation scenario is well within the values derived from experimental data such as PLANCK, FIRAS, and PIXIE. Later we calculate the bound on the ordinary magnetic fields originating from the Dark photons.

Let $M$ be a set of positive integers. We study the maximal density $μ(M)$ of the sets of nonnegative integers $S$ whose elements do not differ by an element in $M$. In 1973, Cantor and Gordon established a formula for $μ(M)$ for $|M|\leq 2$. Since then, many researchers have worked upon the problem and found several partial results in the case $|M|\geq 3$, including some results in the case, $M$ is an infinite set. In this paper, we study the maximal density problem for the families $M=\{a,a+1,2a+1,n\}$ and $M=\{a,a+1,2a+1,3a+1,n\}$, where $a$ and $n$ are positive integers. In most of the cases, we find bounds for the parameter \textit{kappa}, denoted by $κ(M)$, which actually serves as a lower bound for $μ(M)$. The parameter $κ(M)$ has already got its importance due to its rich connection with the problems such as the "lonely runner conjecture" in Diophantine approximations and coloring parameters such as "circular coloring" and "fractional coloring" in graph theory.

Notwithstanding decades of progress since Yukawa first developed a description of the force between nucleons in terms of meson exchange, a full understanding of the strong interaction remains a major challenge in modern science. One remaining difficulty arises from the non-perturbative nature of the strong force, which leads to the phenomenon of quark confinement at distances on the order of the size of the proton. Here we show that in relativistic heavy-ion collisions, where quarks and gluons are set free over an extended volume, two species of produced vector (spin-1) mesons, namely $φ$ and $K^{*0}$, emerge with a surprising pattern of global spin alignment. In particular, the global spin alignment for $φ$ is unexpectedly large, while that for $K^{*0}$ is consistent with zero. The observed spin-alignment pattern and magnitude for the $φ$ cannot be explained by conventional mechanisms, while a model with a connection to strong force fields, i.e. an effective proxy description within the Standard Model and Quantum Chromodynamics, accommodates the current data. This connection, if fully established, will open a potential new avenue for studying the behaviour of strong force fields.

A linearly polarized photon can be quantized from the Lorentz-boosted electromagnetic field of a nucleus traveling at ultra-relativistic speed. When two relativistic heavy nuclei pass one another at a distance of a few nuclear radii, the photon from one nucleus may interact through a virtual quark-antiquark pair with gluons from the other nucleus forming a short-lived vector meson (e.g. ${ρ^0}$). In this experiment, the polarization was utilized in diffractive photoproduction to observe a unique spin interference pattern in the angular distribution of ${ρ^0\rightarrowπ^+π^-}$ decays. The observed interference is a result of an overlap of two wave functions at a distance an order of magnitude larger than the ${ρ^0}$ travel distance within its lifetime. The strong-interaction nuclear radii were extracted from these diffractive interactions, and found to be $6.53\pm 0.06$ fm ($^{197} {\rm Au }$) and $7.29\pm 0.08$ fm ($^{238} {\rm U}$), larger than the nuclear charge radii. The observable is demonstrated to be sensitive to the nuclear geometry and quantum interference of non-identical particles.

We discuss the implications of these results for special cases of the KD equation - namely, KP-II and mKP-II equations.

We observe similar $v_{n}$ trends between light and strange mesons which indicates that the heavier strange quarks flow as strongly as the lighter up and down quarks. The number-of-constituent-quark scaling for $v_{2}$, $v_{3}$, and $v_{4}$ is found to hold within statistical uncertainty for 0-10$\%$, 10-40$\%$ and 40-80$\%$ collision centrality intervals. The results are compared to several viscous hydrodynamic calculations with varying initial conditions, and could serve as an additional constraint to the development of hydrodynamic models.

Understanding the physics of phase transitions in two-dimensional (2D) systems underpins the research in diverse fields including statistical mechanics, quantum systems, nanomagnetism, and soft condensed matter. However, many fundamental aspects of 2D phase transitions are still not well understood, including the effects of interparticle potential, polydispersity, and particle shape. Magnetic skyrmions, which are non-trivial chiral spin structures, can be considered as quasi-particles that form two-dimensional lattices. Here we show, by real-space imaging using in situ cryo-Lorentz transmission electron microscopy coupled with machine learning, the ordering behavior of Néel skyrmion lattices in van der Waals Fe3GeTe2. We demonstrate a distinct change in the skyrmion size distribution during field-cooling, which leads to a loss of lattice order and an evolution of the skyrmion liquid phase. Remarkably, the lattice order is restored during field heating and demonstrates a thermal hysteresis. Our quantitative analysis explains this behavior based on the energy landscape of skyrmions and demonstrates the potential to control the lattice order in 2D phase transitions.

Two-dimensional magnetic van der Waals (vdW) materials can show a variety of topological nontrivial spin textures, such as Bloch- or Néel-type stripe, skyrmion or bubble domains under certain external stimuli. It is critical to understand the magnetic domain behavior in vdW materials in order to control their size, and density in response to external stimuli such as electric and magnetic fields. Here we examine the magnetic field dependence of topologically non-trivial magnetization spin textures in vdW Fe$_3$GeTe$_2$. Néel-type stripe domains and skyrmions are formed depending on the magnetic field-cooling protocol used during in-situ Lorentz transmission electron microscopy (LTEM) experiments. Use of quantitative reconstruction of magnetic induction maps, and micromagnetic simulations, allow for understanding the LTEM results of Néel-type stripe domains as well as skyrmions. In addition, the deformation of skyrmion contrast is observed as a result of the introduction of an in-plane magnetic field. We demonstrate the stability of the stripe domains and skyrmions in response to externally applied magnetic field due to energy barrier for domain wall annihilation. Our results establish an understanding of the energy landscape that governs the behavior of the topologically non-trivial spin textures in vdW materials which can be harnessed for spintronic applications.

With the discovery of topological semimetals, it has been found that the band touching points near the Fermi level are of great importance. They give rise to many exciting phenomena in these materials. Moreover, these points, commonly known as nodes, are related to several properties of these semimetals. Thus, the proper estimation of their coordinates is extremely needed for better understanding of the properties of these materials. We have designed a Python 3 based code named PY-Nodes for efficiently finding the nodes present in a given material using first-principle approach. The present version of the code is interfaced with the WIEN2k package. For benchmarking the code, it has been tested on some famous materials which possess characteristic nodes. These include - TaAs, a well-known Weyl semimetal, Na$_3$Bi, which is categorized as Dirac semimetal, CaAgAs, classified as a nodal-line semimetal and YAuPb, which is claimed to be non-trivial topological semimetal. In case of TaAs, 24 nodes are obtained from our calculations. On computing their chiralities, it is found that 12 pairs of nodes having equal and opposite chirality are obtained. Furthermore, for Na$_3$Bi, a pair of nodes are obtained on the either side of $Γ$-point in the $\boldsymbol{k_3}$ direction. In case of CaAgAs, several nodes are obtained in the $k_z$=0 plane. These nodes, when plotted in the $k_x$-$k_y$ plane, form a closed loop which is generally referred to as nodal-line. Finally, in the case of YAuPb, large number of nodes are obtained in the vicinity of $Γ$-point. The results obtained for these materials are in good match with the previous works carried out by different research groups. This assures the reliability and the efficiency of the PY-Nodes code for estimating the nodes present in a given material.

Recently there has been reports of finding a lower bound on the neutrino mass parameter ($Σm_ν$) when using ACT and SPTpol data however these bounds on the $Σm_ν$ are still weaker for most case around at 1 $σ$ level. In this context, here in this work, we study the consequences of using an enlarged four parameter dynamical dark energy equation of state on neutrino mass parameter as well as on the Hubble and S8 tensions. The four parameter dark energy equation of state incorporates a generic non-linear monotonic evolution of the dark energy equation of state, where the four parameters are the early and the present value of the equation of state, the transition scale factor and the sharpness of the transition. We report that with lensing-marginalized Planck + BAO + Pantheon and prior on absolute magnitude $M_B$ and KIDS/Viking $S_8$ prior, the model favours a non-zero value for the neutrino mass parameter at the most at $\sim 1 σ$ level ($Σm_ν= 0.1847_{-0.165}^{+0.0698}$ eV). In this case this model also brings down the Hubble tension to $\sim 2.5 σ$ level and the S8 tension to $\sim$ 1.5 $σ$ level. This model also provide a tighter constraints on the value of the dark energy equation of state at present epoch $w_0$ ($w_0 = -0.9901_{-0.0766}^{+0.0561}$) in comparison to the CPL like parameterization.

The puzzling observation of room temperature ferromagnetism in double perovskites (A$_2$BB$'$O$_6$), despite having the magnetic lattice of B-ions diluted by non-magnetic B$'$-ions, have been examined for Sr$_2$FeReO$_6$. {\it Ab-initio} spin spiral electronic structure calculations along various high symmetry directions in reciprocal space are used to determine the exchange interactions entering an extended Heisenberg model, which is then solved classically using Monte Carlo simulations to determine the ferromagnetic transition temperature T$_c$. We find that one must consider onsite Coulomb interactions at the nonmagnetic Re sites ($U$) in order to obtain a T$_c$ close to the experimental value. Analysis of the $ab$-$initio$ electronic structure as well as an appropriate model Hamiltonian trace the origin of enhancement in T$_c$ with $U$ to the enhanced exchange splitting that is introduced at these sites. This in turn destabilizes the antiferromagnetic exchange channels, thereby enhancing the T$_c$. The role of occupancy at the non-magnetic sites is examined by contrasting with the case of Sr$_2$FeMoO$_6$.

We perform the BFV-BRST quantization of the fourth-order Pais-Uhlenbeck oscillator (PUO). We show that although the PUO is not naturally constrained in the sense of Dirac-Bergmann, it is possible to profit from the introduction of suitable constraints in phase space in order to obtain a proper BRST invariant quantum system. Starting from its second-class constrained system description, we use the BFFT conversional approach to obtain first-class constraints as gauge symmetry generators. After the Abelianization of the constraints, we obtain the conserved BRST charge, the corresponding BRST transformations and proceed further to the BFV functional quantization of the model. We show that different possible gauge choices can be connected by finite field-dependent BRST transformations.

Analysis based on the Entropy estimates of the society is carried out on a mathematical model in this paper, to make an assessment of Reservation policy presently in operation in India. The Reservation Policy was provisioned in the constitution of India under the policy of affirmative action. The policy makers had identified some communities of India that were being discriminated socially. They identified them by noticing their dismal representation in positions of power and respect, within the society. It was argued that these communities are required to be treated differently to give them equal opportunity in the society. The policy makers had provisioned in the same policy that the effectiveness of this policy will be analyzed at regular intervals to decide its continuation or improvisation. An attempt is made here to scientifically analyze the effectiveness of this policy and suggest possible improvements in the same. As per the understanding of Entropy, a policy such as the Reservation Policy, that is intended to encourage equality must be associated with increase in the Entropy of the society. After a careful mathematical analysis, it is shown here that the policy, in its present form, is designed to increase the entropy of the society in the short-term scenario but is an iso-entropic policy in the long term. A way has been suggested to complement the policy to make the entropy increased effectively and permanently.

Flat monolayers of silver II fluoride, which could be obtained by epitaxial deposition on an appropriate substrate, have been recently predicted to exhibit very strong antiferromagnetic superexchange and to have large potential for ambient pressure superconductivity if doped to an optimal level. It was shown that AgF2 could become a magnetic glue based superconductor with a critical superconducting temperature approaching 200 K at optimum do**. In the current work we calculate the optimum do** to correspond to 14% of holes per formula unit, i.e. quite similar to that for oxocuprates II. Furthermore, using DFT calculations we show that flat AgF2 single layers can indeed be doped to a controlled extent using a recently proposed chemical capacitor setup. Hole do** associated with formation of Ag III proves to be difficult to achieve in the setup explored in this work as it falls at verge of charge stability of fluoride anions and does not affect the d x2 minus y2 manifold . However, in the case of electron do**, manipulation of different factors, such as number of dopant layers and the thickness of the separator, permits fine tuning of the do** level - and concomitantly TC - all the way from underdoped to overdoped regime (in a similar manner as chemical do** for the Nd2CuO4 analogue).

Both experimental and theoretical studies show non-trivial topological behaviour in native rocksalt phase for SnS and SnSe and categorize these materials in topological crystalline insulators. Here, the detailed electronic structures studies of SnS and SnSe in the rocksalt phase are carried out using many-body $GW$ based theory and density functional theory both for ground states and temperature dependent excited states. The estimated values of fundamental direct bandgaps around L-point using $G_0W_0$ (mBJ) are $\sim$0.27 ($\sim$0.13) eV and $\sim$0.37 ($\sim$0.17) eV for SnS and SnSe, respectively. The strength of hybridization between Sn 5$p$ and S 3$p$ (Se 4$p$) orbitals for SnS (SnSe) shows strong k-dependence. The behaviour of $\overline{W}$ ($ω$), which is the averaged value of diagonal matrix elements of fully screened Coulomb interaction, suggests to use full-$GW$ method for exploring the excited states because the correlation effects within these two materials are relatively weak. The temperature dependent electronic structure calculations for SnS and SnSe provide linearly decreasing behaviour of bandgaps with rise in temperatures. The existence of collective excitation of quasiparticles in form of plasmon is predicted for these compounds, where the estimated values of plasmon frequency are $\sim$9.5 eV and $\sim$9.3 eV for SnS and SnSe, respectively. The imaginary part of self-energy and mass renormalization factor ($Z_\textbf{k}(ω)$) due to electron-electron interaction (EEI) are also calculated along W-L-$Γ$ direction for both the materials. The present comparative study reveals that the behaviour of temperature dependent EEI for SnS and SnSe are the almost same and EEI is important for high temperature transport properties.

Diffusion probabilistic models have been shown to generate state-of-the-art results on several competitive image synthesis benchmarks but lack a low-dimensional, interpretable latent space, and are slow at generation. On the other hand, standard Variational Autoencoders (VAEs) typically have access to a low-dimensional latent space but exhibit poor sample quality. We present DiffuseVAE, a novel generative framework that integrates VAE within a diffusion model framework, and leverage this to design novel conditional parameterizations for diffusion models. We show that the resulting model equips diffusion models with a low-dimensional VAE inferred latent code which can be used for downstream tasks like controllable synthesis. The proposed method also improves upon the speed vs quality tradeoff exhibited in standard unconditional DDPM/DDIM models (for instance, FID of 16.47 vs 34.36 using a standard DDIM on the CelebA-HQ-128 benchmark using T=10 reverse process steps) without having explicitly trained for such an objective. Furthermore, the proposed model exhibits synthesis quality comparable to state-of-the-art models on standard image synthesis benchmarks like CIFAR-10 and CelebA-64 while outperforming most existing VAE-based methods. Lastly, we show that the proposed method exhibits inherent generalization to different types of noise in the conditioning signal. For reproducibility, our source code is publicly available at https://github.com/kpandey008/DiffuseVAE.

This study presents the first-principles phonon calculations to understand the experimental thermal expansion ($α(T)$) and lattice thermal conductivity ($κ_{L}$) of CoSi at high temperature region. Phonon dispersion is computed using finite displacement method and supercell approach by taking the equilibrium crystal structures obtained from DFT. The calculation of $α(T)$ is done under quasi-harmonic approximation. The $κ_{L}$ is calculated using first-principle anharmonic lattice dynamics calculations under single-mode relaxation time approximation. Calculated $α(T)$ in the temperature range $0-1300$ K gives the good match with existing experimental data. The calculated value of $κ_{L}$ ($\sim$8.0 W/m-K) at 300 K is found to be in good agreement with the experimental value of $\sim$8.3 W/m-K. The temperature dependent of phonon lifetime due to phonon-phonon interaction is calculated to understand the behaviour of $κ_{L}$. Present study suggests that ground state phonon dispersion obtained from DFT based methods gives reasonably good explanation of experimental $α(T)$ and $κ_{L}$.

In high-energy heavy-ion collisions, partonic collectivity is evidenced by the constituent quark number scaling of elliptic flow anisotropy for identified hadrons. A breaking of this scaling and dominance of baryonic interactions is found for identified hadron collective flow measurements in $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 3 GeV Au+Au collisions. In this paper, we report measurements of the first- and second-order azimuthal anisotropic parameters, $v_1$ and $v_2$, of light nuclei ($d$, $t$, $^{3}$He, $^{4}$He) produced in $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 3 GeV Au+Au collisions at the STAR experiment. An atomic mass number scaling is found in the measured $v_1$ slopes of light nuclei at mid-rapidity. For the measured $v_2$ magnitude, a strong rapidity dependence is observed. Unlike $v_2$ at higher collision energies, the $v_2$ values at mid-rapidity for all light nuclei are negative and no scaling is observed with the atomic mass number. Calculations by the Jet AA Microscopic Transport Model (JAM), with baryonic mean-field plus nucleon coalescence, are in good agreement with our observations, implying baryonic interactions dominate the collective dynamics in 3 GeV Au+Au collisions at RHIC.

We report cumulants of the proton multiplicity distribution from dedicated fixed-target Au+Au collisions at 3.0 GeV, measured by the STAR experiment in the kinematic acceptance of rapidity ($y$) and transverse momentum ($p_{\rm T}$) within $-0.5 < y<0$ and $0.4 < p_{\rm T} <2.0 $ GeV/$c$. In the most central 0--5\% collisions, a proton cumulant ratio is measured to be $C_4/C_2=-0.85 \pm 0.09 ~(\rm stat.) \pm 0.82 ~(\rm syst.)$, which is less than unity, the Poisson baseline. The hadronic transport UrQMD model reproduces our $C_4/C_2$ in the measured acceptance. Compared to higher energy results and the transport model calculations, the suppression in $C_4/C_2$ is consistent with fluctuations driven by baryon number conservation and indicates an energy regime dominated by hadronic interactions. These data imply that the QCD critical region, if created in heavy-ion collisions, could only exist at energies higher than 3\,GeV.

Partons traversing the strongly interacting medium produced in heavy-ion collisions are expected to lose energy depending on their color charge and mass. We measure the nuclear modification factors for charm- and bottom-decay electrons, defined as the ratio of yields, scaled by the number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisions, in $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 200 GeV Au+Au collisions to $p$+$p$ collisions ($R_{\rm AA}$), or in central to peripheral Au+Au collisions ($R_{\rm CP}$). We find the bottom-decay electron $R_{\rm AA}$ and $R_{\rm CP}$ to be significantly higher than that of charm-decay electrons. Model calculations including mass-dependent parton energy loss in a strongly coupled medium are consistent with the measured data. These observations provide clear evidence of mass ordering of charm and bottom quark energy loss when traversing through the strongly coupled medium created in heavy-ion collisions.

The observed suppression of back-to-back pairs as a function of transverse momentum suggests nonlinear gluon dynamics arising at high parton densities. The larger suppression found in $p+$Au relative to $p+$Al collisions exhibits a dependence of the saturation scale, $Q_s^2$, on the mass number, $A$. A linear scaling of the suppression with $A^{1/3}$ is observed with a slope of $-0.09$ $\pm$ $0.01$.

Abstract:
We present a comprehensive multiwavelength investigation of a likely massive young cluster `IRAS 05100+3723' and its environment with the aim to understand its formation history and feedback effects. We find that IRAS 05100+3723 is a distant ($\sim$3.2 kpc), moderate mass ($\sim$500 \msun), young ($\sim$3 Myr) cluster with its most massive star being an O8.5V-type. From spectral modeling, we estimate the effective temperature and log $g$ of the star as $\sim$33,000 K and $\sim$3.8, respectively. Our radio continuum observations reveal that the star has ionized its environment forming an HII region of size $\sim$2.7 pc, temperature $\sim$5,700 K, and electron density $\sim$165 cm$^{-3}$. However, our large-scale dust maps reveal that it has heated the dust up to several parsecs ($\sim$10 pc) in the range 17$-$28 K and the morphology of warm dust emission resembles a bipolar HII region. From dust and $^{13}$CO gas analyses, we find evidences that the formation of the HII region has occurred at the very end of a long filamentary cloud around 3 Myr ago, likely due to edge collapse of the filament. We show that the HII region is currently compressing a clump of mass $\sim$2700 \msun at its western outskirts, at the junction of the HII region and filament. We observe several 70 $μ$m point sources of intermediate-mass and class 0 nature within the clump. We attribute these sources as the second generation stars of the complex. We propose that the star formation in the clump is either induced or being facilitated by the compression of the expanding HII region onto the inflowing filamentary material.

In this work, we virtually study the intra-arterial targeted drug delivery. Specifically, this work models and quantifies the uncertainties associated with catheter steerability limitations. We classify catheter's limited steerability into two types, i.e., zero steerability, and wall pressing steerability. Further, we investigate the effects of steerability limitations on uncertainty of causing systemic toxicity levels, i.e., percentage of drug particles missing target. Proposed method quantifies the uncertainty of causing systemic toxicity in terms of probability. With this calculation approach, we look at the effects of upstream vasculature and catheter tip size. Results indicate the existence of a 'transition toxicity' level. Beyond transition toxicity level, larger catheters should be preferred over smaller catheters. Furthermore, we found that it is relatively easier to decide preferrable catheter size in zero-steerability than wall-pressing steerability conditions.

Deep learning researchers have a keen interest in proposing two new novel activation functions which can boost network performance. A good choice of activation function can have significant consequences in improving network performance. A handcrafted activation is the most common choice in neural network models. ReLU is the most common choice in the deep learning community due to its simplicity though ReLU has some serious drawbacks. In this paper, we have proposed a new novel activation function based on approximation of known activation functions like Leaky ReLU, and we call this function Smooth Maximum Unit (SMU). Replacing ReLU by SMU, we have got 6.22% improvement in the CIFAR100 dataset with the ShuffleNet V2 model.
