W-volume for planar domains with circular boundary
Abstract: We extend the notion of Epstein maps to conformal metrics on submanifolds of the unit sphere $\mathbb{S}^n=\partial_\infty\mathbb{H}^{n+1}$. Using this construction for curves in $\mathbb{S}^2$, we define the W-volume for conformal metrics on domains in $\overline{\mathbb{C}}=\mathbb{S}^2$ with round circles as boundaries. We show that the W-volume is a realization in $\mathbb{H}^3$ of the determi… ▽ More

Universal Liouville action as a renormalized volume and its gradient flow
Abstract: The universal Liouville action (also known as the Loewner energy for Jordan curves) is a Kähler potential on the Weil-Petersson universal Teichmüller space which is identified with the family of Weil-Petersson quasicircles via conformal welding. Our main result shows that, under regularity assumptions, the universal Liouville action equals the renormalized volume of the hyperbolic 3-manifold bound… ▽ More

Cheeger constant of convex co-compact hyperbolic 3-manifolds
Abstract: We study the Cheeger isoperimetric constant as a functional in the space of convex co-compact hyperbolic 3-manifolds which are either quasi-Fuchsian or acylindrical. We prove that the global maximum is attained uniquely at the Fuchsian locus.

On the topology and index of minimal/Bryant framed surfaces
Abstract: We study framed surfaces, which are a class of Euclidean minimal and hyperbolic CMC-1 surfaces that generalize immersed minimal surfaces in $\mathbb{R}^3$ and Bryant surfaces. For this class we prove a lower bound on the (unrestricted) Morse index by a linear function of the genus, number of ends and number of branch points (counting multiplicity), generalizing a result by Chodosh and the first au… ▽ More

Uniform spectral gap and orthogeodesic counting for strong convergence of Kleinian groups
Abstract: We show convergence of small eigenvalues for geometrically finite hyperbolic $n$-manifolds under strong limits. For a class of convergent convex sets in a strongly convergent sequence of Kleinian groups, we use the spectral gap of the limit manifold and the exponentially mixing property of the geodesic flow along the strongly convergent sequence to find asymptotically uniform counting formulas for… ▽ More

Peripheral birationality for 3-dimensional convex co-compact $PSL_2\mathbb{C}$ varieties
Abstract: Let $M$ be a hyperbolizable $3$-manifold with boundary, and let $χ_0(M)$ be a component of the $PSL_2\mathbb{C}$-character variety of $M$ that contains the convex co-compact characters. We show that the peripheral map $i_*:χ_0(M)\rightarrowχ(\partial M)$ to the character variety of $\partial M$ is a birational isomorphism with its image, and in particular is generically a one-to-one map. Besse projective spaces with many diameters
Abstract: It is known that Blaschke manifolds (where injectivity radius equals diameter) are Besse manifolds (where all geodesics are closed). We show that Besse manifolds with sufficiently many diameter realizing directions are Blaschke. We also provide bounds in terms of diameter on the length of the shortest closed geodesic for pinched curvature metrics on simply connected manifolds.

Volume bounds for the canonical lift complement of a random geodesic
Abstract: Given a filling primitive geodesic curve in a closed hyperbolic surface one obtains a hyperbolic three-manifold as the complement of the curve's canonical lift to the projective tangent bundle. In this paper we give the first known lower bound for the volume of these manifolds in terms of the length of generic curves. We show that estimating the volume from below can be reduced to a counting probl… ▽ More

Isoperimetric interpretation for the renormalized volume of convex co-compact hyperbolic 3-manifolds
Abstract: We reinterpret the renormalized volume as the asymptotic difference of the isoperimetric profiles for convex co-compact hyperbolic 3-manifolds. By similar techniques we also prove a sharp Minkowski inequality for horospherically convex sets in $\mathbb{H}^3$. Finally, we include the classification of stable constant mean curvature surfaces in regions bounded by two geodesic planes in… ▽ More

Mean curvature flow in homology and foliations of hyperbolic $3$-manifolds
Abstract: We study global aspects of the mean curvature flow of non-separating hypersurfaces $S$ in closed manifolds. For instance, if $S$ has non-vanishing mean curvature, we show its level set flow converges smoothly towards an embedded minimal hypersurface $Γ$. We prove a similar result for the flow with surgery in dimension 2. As an application we show the existence of monotone incompressible isotopies… ▽ More

Minimal area surfaces and fibered hyperbolic $3$-manifolds
Abstract: By work of Uhlenbeck, the largest principal curvature of any least area fiber of a hyperbolic $3$-manifold fibering over the circle is bounded below by one. We give a short argument to show that, along certain families of fibered hyperbolic $3$-manifolds, there is a uniform lower bound for the maximum principal curvatures of a least area minimal surface which is greater than one.

Convergence of the gradient flow of renormalized volume to convex cores with totally geodesic boundary
Abstract: We consider the Weil-Petersson gradient vector field of renormalized volume on the deformation space of convex cocompact hyperbolic structures on (relatively) acylindrical manifolds. In this paper we prove the conjecture that the flow has a global attracting fixed point at the structure $M_{\rm geod}$ the unique structure with minimum convex core volume.

The length of the shortest closed geodesic on positively curved 2-spheres
Abstract: We show that the shortest closed geodesic on a 2-sphere with non-negative curvature has length bounded above by three times the diameter. We prove a new isoperimetric inequality for 2-spheres with pinched curvature; this allows us to improve our bound on the length of the shortest closed geodesic in the pinched curvature setting.

Hyperbolic limits of Cantor set complements in the sphere

Then, if $M$ admits an exhaustion by $π_1$-injective sub-manifolds there exists cantor sets $C_n\subset \mathbb S^3$ such that $N_n=\mathbb S^3\setminus C_n$ is hyperbolic and $N_n\rightarrow M$ geometrically.

Comparing hyperbolic and extremal lengths for shortest curves
