Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) are ubiquitous complex molecules in the interstellar medium and are used as an indirect indicator of star-formation. On the other hand the ultraviolet (UV) emission from the young massive stars directly traces the star formation activity in a galaxy. The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), along with the UltraViolet Imaging Telescope (UVIT), opened up a new window of opportunity to make a better understanding of the properties of the PAH molecules associated with the star-forming regions. In this study, we investigate how the resolved scale properties of PAH molecules in nearby galaxies are affected by star-formation. We analyze the PAH features observed at 3.3, 7.7, and 11.3 μm using F335M, F770W, and F1130W images obtained from JWST. Additionally, we utilize UVIT images to assess the star formation associated with these PAH emitting regions. Our study focuses on three galaxies, namely NGC 628, NGC 1365, and NGC 7496, selected based on the availability of both JWST and UVIT images. Based on the resolved scale study on the PAH bright regions using JWST and UVIT images, we found that the fraction of ionized PAH molecules is high in the star-forming regions with high ΣSFR. We observed that emission from smaller PAH molecules is more in the star-forming regions with higher ΣSFR. Our study suggests that the PAH molecules excited by the photons from SF regions with higher ΣSFR are dominantly smaller and ionized molecules. UV photons from the star-forming regions could be the reason for a higher fraction of the ionized PAHs. We suggest that the effect of high temperature in the star-forming regions and the formation of smaller PAH molecules in the star-forming regions might also be resulting in the higher fraction of emission in the F335MPAH band.

Gauss law at a vertex in Lattice QCD and its gauge invariant Hilbert space

Abstract:
We solve the local Gauss law in lattice QCD in the presence of matter charges. This corresponds to constructing singlet states using Schwinger Bosons and Fermions of SU(3) group at each vertex of the lattice. We also calculate the action of various invariant operators on these states required for studying the dynamics.

Nanocrystalline CuO-CuFe2O4 composite thin films were developed from CuFeO2 ceramic target using a radio frequency sputtering method followed by a thermal oxidation process. This fabrication process helps to develop porous sensing layers which are highly desirable for solid state resistive gas sensors. Their sensing properties towards ethanol and hydrogen gas in dry air were examined at the operating temperatures ranging from 250 deg C to 500 deg C. The electrical transients during adsorption and desorption of the test gases were fitted with the Langmuir single site gas adsorption model. A composite thin film with a total thickness of 25 nm showed highest response (79%) towards hydrogen (500 ppm) at the operating temperature of 400 deg C. The shortest response time (tres) was found to be ~60 and ~90 seconds for hydrogen and ethanol respectively. The dependence of the response of the sensor on gas concentration (10-500 ppm) was also studied.

We report CCD photometry and spectroscopy during 2006 outburst of the dwarf nova SDSS J102146.44+234926.3 (SDSS J1021). The photographic plates from the MAO, SAI and CrAO plate archives, which cover the position of the SDSS J1021, were inspected for the presence of previous outbursts. We also present the BVRcIc photometric calibration of 52 stars in SDSS J1021 vicinity, which have V-magnitude in the range of 11.21-17.23m and can serve as comparison stars. The large amplitude of the SDSS J1021 outburst of 7m, superhumps with a period below the ''period gap'', rebrightening during the declining stage of superoutburst, rarity of outbursts and obtained spectrum allow to classify this object as a WZ Sge type dwarf nova.
