This article includes a comprehensive collection of over 800 high-resolution streetlight images taken systematically from India's major streets, primarily in the Chennai region. The images were methodically collected following standardized methods to assure uniformity and quality. Each image has been labelled and grouped into directories based on binary class labels, which indicate whether each streetlight is functional or not. This organized dataset is intended to make it easier to train and evaluate deep neural networks, allowing for the creation of pre-trained models that have robust feature representations. Such models have several potential uses, such as improving smart city surveillance systems, automating street infrastructure monitoring, and increasing urban management efficiency. The availability of this dataset is intended to inspire future research and development in computer vision and smart city technologies, supporting innovation and practical solutions to urban infrastructure concerns. The dataset can be accessed at https://github.com/Team16Project/Street-Light-Dataset/.

The quasi-2D Shastry-Sutherland model has remained topical in the field of condensed matter physics for the last two decades, following the experimental realization of the model in the material SrCu$_2$(BO$_3$)$_2$. Since then, research into the Shastry-Sutherland system has revealed more nuanced physics than initially predicted; recent theoretical works have even predicted a quantum spin liquid phase may exist. Herein, we report on a new Shastry-Sutherland lattice material, Yb$_2$Be$_2$GeO$_7$, of the rare-earth melilite family RE$_2$Be$_2$GeO$_7$. We find, through SQUID magnetometry, powder neutron diffraction, specific heat capacity, and muon spin relaxation, that Yb$_2$Be$_2$GeO$_7$ lacks magnetic order and exhibits persistent spin dynamics to at least 17 mK. We propose the Shastry-Sutherland lattice material Yb$_2$Be$_2$GeO$_7$ as a candidate to host a quantum spin liquid ground-state.

Generating and manipulating magnetic skyrmions at ultrafast time scales is essential for future skyrmionbased racetrack memory and logic gate applications. Using the atomistic spin dynamics simulations, we demonstrate the nucleation of ultra-small field-free magnetic skyrmions in amorphous GdFeCo at picosecond timescales by femtosecond laser heating. The ultrafast nature of laser heating and subsequent cooling from a high-temperature state is crucial for forming magnetic skyrmion. The magnon localization and magnon coalescence are the key driving mechanisms responsible for stabilizing the magnetic skyrmions at zero field conditions. The polarization and, hence, the topological charge can be switched by exploiting the all-optical switching observed in GdFeCo. The skyrmion sizes and numbers can be controlled by varying pulse width and fluence of incident laser pulses. Applying an external magnetic field provides an additional degree of freedom to tune the skyrmion radius during the ultrafast optical creation of magnetic skyrmions. Our results provide a detailed understanding of the ultrafast creation of magnetic skyrmions using femtosecond laser pulses, a vital step in advancing next-generation skyrmion-based memory technologies.

Auto manufacturers and research groups are working on autonomous driving for long period and achieved significant progress. Autonomous vehicles (AV) are expected to transform road traffic reduction from current conditions, avoiding accidents and congestion. As the implementation of an autonomous vehicle ecosystem includes complex automotive technology, ethics, passenger behaviour, traffic management policies and liability etc., the maturity of AV solutions are still evolving. The proposed model to improve AV user experience, uses a hybrid AV Network of multiple connected autonomous vehicles which communicate with each other in an environment shared by human driven vehicles. The proposed Optimal AV Network (OAVN) solution provides better coordination and optimization of autonomous vehicles, improved Transportation efficiency, improved passenger comfort and safety, real-time dynamic adaption of traffic & road conditions along with improved in-cabin assistance with inputs from various sensors. The true optimal solution for this problem, is to devise an automated guidance system for vehicles in an AV network, to reach destinations in best possible routes along with passenger comfort and safety. A custom informed search model is proposed along with other heuristic goals for better user experience. The results are analysed and compared to evaluate the effectiveness of the solution and identify gaps and future enhancements.

Metallic transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), consisting of H-NbSe$_2$, H-NbS$_2$, H-TaSe$_2$ and H-TaS$_2$, remain superconducting down to a thickness of a single layer. In these materials, thickness affects a variety of properties, including Ising protection, two-band superconductivity, and the critical temperature $T_C$, which decreases for the Nb-based, and increases for the Ta-based materials. This contradicting trend is puzzling, and has precluded the development of a unified theory. We approach the question of thickness-evolution of $T_C$ and the superconducting gap $Δ$ by measuring high-resolution tunneling spectra in TaS$_2$-based stacked devices. Our measurements allow for simultaneous evaluation of $Δ$, $T_C$, and the upper critical field $H_{C2}$. The latter, we find, is strongly enhanced towards the single-layer limit, following a $H_{C2} \propto Δ^2$ proportionality ratio. Our main finding is that the same ratio holds for the entire family of metallic TMDs: TaS$_2$ and NbSe$_2$ of all thicknesses, bulk TaSe$_2$ and bulk NbS$_2$, extending over 4 orders of magnitude in $H_{C2}$ and covering both clean and dirty limits. We propose that this tunability across the TMD family is controlled by the competing charge density wave (CDW) phase. Using Gor'kov's theory, we calculate how a CDW order affects the quasiparticle density of states and the resulting $T_C$ and $H_{C2}$. Our results suggest that CDW is the key determinant factor limiting $T_C$ in the TMD family. They also show that $H_{C2}$ is universally enhanced by a factor of two orders of magnitude above the expected value, an effect that remains an open question.

We present the spectral and timing analyses of \textit{AstroSat} observations of the Black Hole X-ray Binary GX 339-4 when the source was close the peak of the outburst in 2024. We find that both the spectral and timing variability of the source is indicative of it in its steep power law (SPL) state during the observations. We used phenomenological and physical models to understand the physics and geometry of accretion during this spectral state of the source. Spectral fits indicate the presence of an accretion disc with a temperature of $kT\sim$0.82 keV and a hot corona with a spectral index of $\sim$2.2 along with a significant contribution from iron line emission from the accretion disc. Strong QPOs were detected at $\sim$4.6 Hz in the Power Density Spectra of the source along with a harmonics feature. Time and phase lag at the QPO frequency are studied and we find a hard lag at the QPO frequency and at the same time a soft lag at the harmonic frequency. We estimate the spin of the black hole and it was found that $a = 0.99 \pm 0.003$. The height of the coronal region is estimated to be about 2.5 $R_{g}$, which is found to be similar to that observed during the previous outbursts of the source. We attempt to discuss the possible physical scenario for the observed spectral and timing features exhibited by the source.

Research on Large Language Models (LLMs) has recently seen exponential growth, largely focused on transformer-based architectures, as introduced by [1] and further advanced by the decoder-only variations in [2]. Contemporary studies typically aim to improve model capabilities by increasing both the architecture's complexity and the volume of training data. However, research exploring how to reduce model sizes while maintaining performance is limited. This study introduces three modifications to the decoder-only transformer architecture: ParallelGPT (p-gpt), LinearlyCompressedGPT (lc-gpt), and ConvCompressedGPT (cc-gpt). These variants achieve comparable performance to conventional architectures in code generation tasks while benefiting from reduced model sizes and faster training times. We open-source the model weights and codebase to support future research and development in this domain.

The ISMR profoundly impacts over a billion people across the region. ISMR extremes have been linked to the ENSO and modulated by the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD). ISMR of 2022 displayed intriguing spatial patterns: above-normal precipitation over the south peninsula and central India, normal over Northwest India, and below-normal over East and NE India. In 2022, La Nina conditions associated with a negative IOD (nIOD), were prevalent over the equatorial Pacific Ocean (PO) and IO. This study investigates the often-overlooked Oceanic subsurface contribution to large-scale atmospheric convection over the tropical IO. By undertaking a comprehensive analysis, we find that strong equatorial westerly wind anomalies prevailed over the equatorial IO during co-occurring years generating eastward propagating downwelling Kelvin waves which deepens the D20 in the eastern equatorial IO. The Kelvin waves then propagates into BoB and gets reflected from southern tip of India as westward propagating Rossby waves deepening the D20 and causing low level wind convergence in the Northern Arabian Sea(NAS). We identify two centres of low-level wind convergence, one over NAS and another over Maritime Continent during co-occurrence years. These wind convergence centres play a pivotal role in channeling moisture towards their core, also, significantly deepen D20, increase the Ocean heat content and thus maintaining warmer SSTs over area of conversions. Together, these interrelated factors create an environment that is conducive for enhanced convective activity over the zone of convergence, enhancing and sustaining the convective conditions. This study underscores the significant contribution of ocean dynamics in sha** large-scale atmospheric convection during the co-occurrence years, highlighting the significance of considering broader Oceanic variables in comprehending and forecasting monsoonal variability.

In recent years, the use of open-source models has gained immense popularity in various fields, including legal language modelling and analysis. These models have proven to be highly effective in tasks such as summarizing legal documents, extracting key information, and even predicting case outcomes. This has revolutionized the legal industry, enabling lawyers, researchers, and policymakers to quickly access and analyse vast amounts of legal text, saving time and resources. This paper presents a novel approach to legal language modeling (LLM) and analysis using open-source models from Hugging Face. We leverage Hugging Face embeddings via LangChain and Sentence Transformers to develop an LLM tailored for legal texts. We then demonstrate the application of this model by extracting insights from the official Constitution of India. Our methodology involves preprocessing the data, splitting it into chunks, using ChromaDB and LangChainVectorStores, and employing the Google/Flan-T5-XXL model for analysis. The trained model is tested on the Indian Constitution, which is available in PDF format. Our findings suggest that our approach holds promise for efficient legal language processing and analysis.

We present the spectral and timing study of the bright NS-LMXB GX 5-1 using \textit{\textit{AstroSat}/LAXPC} and \textit{SXT} observations conducted in the year 2018. During the observation, the source traces out the complete HB and NB of the Z-track in the HID. Understanding the spectral and temporal evolution of the source along the 'Z' track can probe the accretion process in the vicinity of a neutron star. Spectral analysis was performed in the 0.7-20 keV energy range for different segments in the HID using a multi-temperature disc black body with an average temperature, $kT_{in} \sim$0.46 and a thermal Comptonization model. It is found that the optical depth of the corona drops from $\sim$6.68 in HB to $\sim$2.74 in NB. The Timing analysis using the LAXPC instrument indicates the presence of quasi-periodic oscillations in HB, NB, and the hard apex of the Z-track. The observed QPO frequencies are similar to the characteristic frequencies of horizontal branch and normal branch oscillations. The HBO frequency increase from $\sim$12-46 Hz towards the hard apex. The timing studies conducted in soft and hard band indicate the association of HBO and NBO origin with the non-thermal component. Further research could explore the implications of this relationship for understanding the dynamics of accretion onto neutron stars.

We present comprehensive investigations into the structural, superconducting, and topological properties of Bi$_2$PdPt. Magnetization and heat capacity measurements performed on polycrystalline Bi$_2$PdPt demonstrate a superconducting transition at $\approx$ 0.8 K. Moreover, muon spin relaxation/rotation ($μ$SR) measurements present evidence for a time reversal symmetry preserving, isotropically gapped superconducting state in Bi$_2$PdPt. We have also performed density-functional theory (DFT) calculations on Bi$_2$PdPt alongside the more general isostructural systems, BiPd$_{x}$Pt$_{1-x}$, of which Bi$_2$PdPt and $γ$-BiPd are special cases for $x=0.5$ and $x=1$ respectively. We have calculated the $Z_2$ topological index from our DFT calculations for a range of substitution fractions, $x$, between $x=0$ and $x=1$ characterizing the topology of the band structure. We find a non-trivial topological state when $x>0.75$ and a trivial topological state when $x<0.75$. Therefore our results indicate that BiPd$_{x}$Pt$_{1-x}$ could be a topological superconductor for $x>0.75$.

The maintenance, archiving and usage of the design drawings is cumbersome in physical form in different industries for longer period. It is hard to extract information by simple scanning of drawing sheets. Converting them to their digital formats such as Computer-Aided Design (CAD), with needed knowledge extraction can solve this problem. The conversion of these machine drawings to its digital form is a crucial challenge which requires advanced techniques. This research proposes an innovative methodology utilizing Deep Learning methods. The approach employs object detection model, such as Yolov7, Faster R-CNN, to detect physical drawing objects present in the images followed by, edge detection algorithms such as canny filter to extract and refine the identified lines from the drawing region and curve detection techniques to detect circle. Also ornaments (complex shapes) within the drawings are extracted. To ensure comprehensive conversion, an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) tool is integrated to identify and extract the text elements from the drawings. The extracted data which includes the lines, shapes and text is consolidated and stored in a structured comma separated values(.csv) file format. The accuracy and the efficiency of conversion is evaluated. Through this, conversion can be automated to help organizations enhance their productivity, facilitate seamless collaborations and preserve valuable design information in a digital format easily accessible. Overall, this study contributes to the advancement of CAD conversions, providing accurate results from the translating process. Future research can focus on handling diverse drawing types, enhanced accuracy in shape and line detection and extraction.

This paper examines Federated learning (FL) in a Stochastic Approximation (SA) framework. FL is a collaborative way to train neural network models across various participants or clients without centralizing their data. Each client will train a model on their respective data and send the weights across to a the server periodically for aggregation. The server aggregates these weights which are then used by the clients to re-initialize their neural network and continue the training. SA is an iterative algorithm that uses approximate sample gradients and tapering step size to locate a minimizer of a cost function. In this paper the clients use a stochastic approximation iterate to update the weights of its neural network. It is shown that the aggregated weights track an autonomous ODE. Numerical simulations are performed and the results are compared with standard algorithms like FedAvg and FedProx. It is observed that the proposed algorithm is robust and gives more reliable estimates of the weights, in particular when the clients data are not identically distributed.

In this work, we define the weighted cumulative residual entropy generating function (WCREGF) and study its properties. We then introduce the dynamic weighted cumulative residual entropy generating function (DWCREGF). It is shown that the DWCREGF determines the distribution uniquely. We study some characterization results using the relationship between the DWCREGF and the hazard rate and/or the mean residual life function. Using a characterization based on DWCREGF, we develop a new goodness fit test for Rayleigh distribution. A Monte Carlo simulation study is conducted to evaluate the proposed test. Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) are ubiquitous complex molecules in the interstellar medium and are used as an indirect indicator of star-formation. On the other hand the ultraviolet (UV) emission from the young massive stars directly traces the star formation activity in a galaxy. The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), along with the UltraViolet Imaging Telescope (UVIT), opened up a new window of opportunity to make a better understanding of the properties of the PAH molecules associated with the star-forming regions. In this study, we investigate how the resolved scale properties of PAH molecules in nearby galaxies are affected by star-formation. We analyze the PAH features observed at 3.3, 7.7, and 11.3 μm using F335M, F770W, and F1130W images obtained from JWST. Additionally, we utilize UVIT images to assess the star formation associated with these PAH emitting regions. Our study focuses on three galaxies, namely NGC 628, NGC 1365, and NGC 7496, selected based on the availability of both JWST and UVIT images. Based on the resolved scale study on the PAH bright regions using JWST and UVIT images, we found that the fraction of ionized PAH molecules is high in the star-forming regions with high ΣSFR. We observed that emission from smaller PAH molecules is more in the star-forming regions with higher ΣSFR. Our study suggests that the PAH molecules excited by the photons from SF regions with higher ΣSFR are dominantly smaller and ionized molecules. UV photons from the star-forming regions could be the reason for a higher fraction of the ionized PAHs. We suggest that the effect of high temperature in the star-forming regions and the formation of smaller PAH molecules in the star-forming regions might also be resulting in the higher fraction of emission in the F335MPAH band.

In this paper, we study constant sum partitions $\{S_1,S_2,...,S_x\}$ of $I_n$ with prescribed $|S_i|$, $1 \leq i \leq x$. Theorem \ref{thm 2.3} is the main result which gives a necessary and sufficient condition for a partition set $\{S_1,S_2,\ldots, S_x\}$ of $I_n$ with prescribed $|S_i|$ to be a constant sum partition of $I_n$, $1 \leq i \leq x$ and $n > x \geq 2$. We state its applications in graph theory and also define {\em constant sum partition permutation} or {\em magic partition permutation} of $I_n$. A partition $\{S_1,S_2,\cdots,S_x\}$ of $I_n$ is a {\em constant sum partition of $I_n$} if $\sum_{j\in S_i}{j}$ is a constant for every $i$, $1 \leq i \leq x$.

There has been a resurgence of applications focused on Human Activity Recognition (HAR) in smart homes, especially in the field of ambient intelligence and assisted living technologies. However, such applications present numerous significant challenges to any automated analysis system operating in the real world, such as variability, sparsity, and noise in sensor measurements. Although state-of-the-art HAR systems have made considerable strides in addressing some of these challenges, they especially suffer from a practical limitation: they require successful pre-segmentation of continuous sensor data streams before automated recognition, i.e., they assume that an oracle is present during deployment, which is capable of identifying time windows of interest across discrete sensor events. To overcome this limitation, we propose a novel graph-guided neural network approach that performs activity recognition by learning explicit co-firing relationships between sensors. We accomplish this by learning a more expressive graph structure representing the sensor network in a smart home, in a data-driven manner. Our approach maps discrete input sensor measurements to a feature space through the application of attention mechanisms and hierarchical pooling of node embeddings. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed approach by conducting several experiments on CASAS datasets, showing that the resulting graph-guided neural network outperforms the state-of-the-art method for HAR in smart homes across multiple datasets and by large margins. These results are promising because they push HAR for smart homes closer to real-world applications.

Identifying intents from dialogue utterances forms an integral component of task-oriented dialogue systems. Intent-related tasks are typically formulated either as a classification task, where the utterances are classified into predefined categories or as a clustering task when new and previously unknown intent categories need to be discovered from these utterances. Further, the intent classification may be modeled in a multiclass (MC) or multilabel (ML) setup. While typically these tasks are modeled as separate tasks, we propose IntenDD, a unified approach leveraging a shared utterance encoding backbone. IntenDD uses an entirely unsupervised contrastive learning strategy for representation learning, where pseudo-labels for the unlabeled utterances are generated based on their lexical features. Additionally, we introduce a two-step post-processing setup for the classification tasks using modified adsorption. Here, first, the residuals in the training data are propagated followed by smoothing the labels both modeled in a transductive setting. Through extensive evaluations on various benchmark datasets, we find that our approach consistently outperforms competitive baselines across all three tasks. On average, IntenDD reports percentage improvements of 2.32%, 1.26%, and 1.52% in their respective metrics for few-shot MC, few-shot ML, and the intent discovery tasks respectively.

Accurate rainfall forecasting is crucial for effective disaster preparedness and mitigation in the North-East region of India, which is prone to extreme weather events such as floods and landslides. In this study, we investigated the use of two data-driven methods, Dynamic Mode Decomposition (DMD) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), for rainfall forecasting using daily rainfall data collected from India Meteorological Department in northeast region over a period of 118 years. We conducted a comparative analysis of these methods to determine their relative effectiveness in predicting rainfall patterns. Using historical rainfall data from multiple weather stations, we trained and validated our models to forecast future rainfall patterns. Our results indicate that both DMD and LSTM are effective in forecasting rainfall, with LSTM outperforming DMD in terms of accuracy, revealing that LSTM has the ability to capture complex nonlinear relationships in the data, making it a powerful tool for rainfall forecasting. Our findings suggest that data-driven methods such as DMD and deep learning approaches like LSTM can significantly improve rainfall forecasting accuracy in the North-East region of India, hel** to mitigate the impact of extreme weather events and enhance the region's resilience to climate change.

In [20], on toric manifolds the convergence of modified $J$-flow to the smooth solution was proven under the assumption of positivity of certain intersection numbers. In the case of the Calabi ansatz, we show that if some of those intersection numbers are not positive, then the modified $J$-flow blows up along some variety, and away from the variety we prove the convergence to the solution.
As in [10], we also prove that the convergence behavior of the modified $J$-flow with Calabi symmetry depends on the topological constants $c$ and the minimum of the Hamiltonian function.

Emergency communication is vital for search and rescue operations following natural disasters. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) can significantly assist emergency communication by agile positioning, maintaining connectivity during rapid motion, and relaying critical disaster-related information to Ground Control Stations (GCS). Designing effective routing protocols for relaying crucial data in UAV networks is challenging due to dynamic topology, rapid mobility, and limited UAV resources. This paper presents a novel energy-constrained routing mechanism that ensures connectivity, inter-UAV collision avoidance, and network restoration post-UAV fragmentation while adapting without a predefined UAV path. The proposed method employs improved Q learning to optimize the next-hop node selection. Considering these factors, the paper proposes a novel, Improved Q-learning-based Multi-hop Routing (IQMR) protocol. Simulation results validate IQMRs adaptability to changing system conditions and superiority over QMR, QTAR, and QFANET in energy efficiency and data throughput. IQMR achieves energy consumption efficiency improvements of 32.27%, 36.35%, and 36.35% over QMR, Q-FANET, and QTAR, along with significantly higher data throughput enhancements of 53.3%, 80.35%, and 93.36% over Q-FANET, QMR, and QTAR.

This paper provides an overview of the historical progression of distributed optimization techniques, tracing their development from early duality-based methods pioneered by Dantzig, Wolfe, and Benders in the 1960s to the emergence of the Augmented Lagrangian Alternating Direction Inexact Newton (ALADIN) algorithm. The initial focus on Lagrangian relaxation for convex problems and decomposition strategies led to the refinement of methods like the Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM). The resurgence of interest in distributed optimization in the late 2000s, particularly in machine learning and imaging, demonstrated ADMM's practical efficacy and its unifying potential. This overview also highlights the emergence of the proximal center method and its applications in diverse domains. Furthermore, the paper underscores the distinctive features of ALADIN, which offers convergence guarantees for non-convex scenarios without introducing auxiliary variables, differentiating it from traditional augmentation techniques. In essence, this work encapsulates the historical trajectory of distributed optimization and underscores the promising prospects of ALADIN in addressing non-convex optimization challenges.

Transformers have emerged as viable alternatives to convolutional neural networks owing to their ability to learn non-local region relationships in the spatial domain. The self-attention mechanism of the transformer enables transformers to capture long-range dependencies in the images, which might be desirable for accelerated MRI image reconstruction as the effect of undersampling is non-local in the image domain. Despite its computational efficiency, the window-based transformers suffer from restricted receptive fields as the dependencies are limited to within the scope of the image windows. We propose a window-based transformer network that integrates dilated attention mechanism and convolution for accelerated MRI image reconstruction. The proposed network consists of dilated and dense neighborhood attention transformers to enhance the distant neighborhood pixel relationship and introduce depth-wise convolutions within the transformer module to learn low-level translation invariant features for accelerated MRI image reconstruction. The proposed model is trained in a self-supervised manner. We perform extensive experiments for multi-coil MRI acceleration for coronal PD, coronal PDFS and axial T2 contrasts with 4x and 5x under-sampling in self-supervised learning based on k-space splitting. We compare our method against other reconstruction architectures and the parallel domain self-supervised learning baseline. Results show that the proposed model exhibits improvement margins of (i) around 1.40 dB in PSNR and around 0.028 in SSIM on average over other architectures (ii) around 1.44 dB in PSNR and around 0.029 in SSIM over parallel domain self-supervised learning. Speech diarization involves the separation of individual speakers within an audio stream. By employing the ASR transcript, the diarization process aims to segregate each speaker's utterances, grou** them based on their unique audio characteristics. On the other hand, Automatic Speech Recognition refers to the capability of a machine or program to identify and convert spoken words and phrases into a machine-readable format. In our speech diarization approach, we utilize the Gaussian Mixer Model (GMM) to represent speech segments. The inter-cluster distance is computed based on the GMM parameters, and the distance threshold serves as the stop** criterion. ASR entails the conversion of an unknown speech waveform into a corresponding written transcription. The speech signal is analyzed using synchronized algorithms, taking into account the pitch frequency. The significance of multi-scale features has been gradually recognized by the edge detection community. However, the fusion of multi-scale features increases the complexity of the model, which is not friendly to practical application. In this work, we propose a Compact Twice Fusion Network (CTFN) to fully integrate multi-scale features while maintaining the compactness of the model. CTFN includes two lightweight multi-scale feature fusion modules: a Semantic Enhancement Module (SEM) that can utilize the semantic information contained in coarse-scale features to guide the learning of fine-scale features, and a Pseudo Pixel-level Weighting (PPW) module that aggregate the complementary merits of multi-scale features by assigning weights to all features. Notwithstanding all this, the interference of texture noise makes the correct classification of some pixels still a challenge. For these hard samples, we propose a novel loss function, coined Dynamic Focal Loss, which reshapes the standard cross-entropy loss and dynamically adjusts the weights to correct the distribution of hard samples. We evaluate our method on three datasets, i.e., BSDS500, NYUDv2, and BIPEDv2. Compared with state-of-the-art methods, CTFN achieves competitive accuracy with less parameters and computational cost. Apart from the backbone, CTFN requires only 0.1M additional parameters, which reduces its computation cost to just 60% of other state-of-the-art methods. Our study provides a unique technique to build narratives about cryptocurrency by combining topic modelling of short texts with sentiment analysis. First, we used an unsupervised machine learning algorithm to discover the latent topics within the massive and noisy textual data from Twitter, and then we revealed 4-5 cryptocurrency-related narratives, including financial investment, technological advancement related to crypto, financial and political regulations, crypto assets, and media coverage. In a number of situations, we noticed a strong link between our narratives and crypto prices. Our work connects the most recent innovation in economics, Narrative Economics, to a new area of study that combines topic modelling and sentiment analysis to relate consumer behaviour to narratives.

We present a thermodynamic analysis of a quantum engine that uses a single quantum particle as its working fluid, inspired by Szilard's classical single-particle engine. Our design is modeled after the classically-chaotic Szilard Map and involves a thermodynamic cycle of measurement, thermal-energy extraction, and memory reset. Our focus is on investigating the thermodynamic costs associated with observing and controlling the particle and comparing these costs in the quantum and classical limits. Through our study, we aim to shed light on the thermodynamic trade-offs that arise from Lindauer's Principle for information-processing-induced thermodynamic dissipation in both the quantum and classical regimes. Using machine learning methods, we demonstrate that energy analysis can be performed and the quantum engine can be simulated according to the Szilard engine based Second Law of Thermodynamics in its working condition. However, we note that the quantum engine operates using significantly different mechanisms than its classical counterpart, where the cost of inserting partitions plays a critical role in the quantum implementation.

Rotation period measurements of low-mass stars show that the spin distributions in young clusters do not exhibit the spin-up expected due to contraction, during the phase when a large fraction of stars are still surrounded by accretion discs. During this stage, the stars accrete mass and angular momentum and may experience accretion enhanced-magnetised winds. At the same time, the accretion of mass and energy has a significant impact on the evolution of stellar structure and moment of inertia. We compute evolution models of accreting very young stars and determine, in a self-consistent way, the effect of accretion on stellar structure and the angular momentum exchanges between the stars and their disc. We then vary the deuterium content, the accretion history, the entropy content of the accreted material, and the magnetic field as well as the efficiency of the accretion-enhanced winds. It comes that the models are driven alternatively both by the evolution of the momentum of inertia, and by the star-disc interaction torques. Of all the parameters we tested, the magnetic field strength, the accretion history and the Deuterium content have the largest impact. The injection of heat only plays a major role early in the evolution. This work demonstrates the importance of the moment of inertia's evolution under the influence of accretion to explain the constant rotation rates distributions that are observed over the star-disc interactions. When accounting for rotation, the models computed with an up-to-date torque along with a consistent structural evolution of the accreting star are able to explain the almost constant spin evolution for the whole range of parameter we investigated, albeit only reproducing a narrow range around the median of the observed spin rate distributions.

In this work, we present the stability theory for inhomogeneous fluids subjected to standing acoustic fields. Starting from the first principles, the stability criterion is established for two fluids of different acoustic impedance separated by a plane interface. Through stability theory and numerical simulations we show that, in the presence of interfacial tension, the relocation of high-impedance fluid from anti-node to node occurs when the acoustic force overcomes interfacial tension force, which is in agreement with recent microchannel experiments. Furthermore, we establish an acoustic Bond number that characterizes stable (Bo_a < 1) and relocation (Bo_a > 1) regimes. Remarkably, it is found that the critical acoustic energy density required for relocation can be significantly reduced by increasing the channel height which could help design acoustofluidic microchannel devices that handle immiscible fluids.

By extending the standard holographic principle to a cosmological framework and combining the non-flat condition with the Kaniadakis entropy, we construct the non-flat Kaniadakis holographic dark energy model. The model employs Kaniadakis parameter $K$ and a parameter $c$. Derivation of the differential equation for KHDE density parameter to describe the evolutionary behavior of the universe is obtained. Such a differential equation could explain both the open as well as closed universe models. The classification based on matter and dark energy (DE) dominated regimes show that the KHDE scenario may be used to specify the Universe's thermal history and that a quintom regime can be encountered. For open and closed both the cases, we find the expressions for the deceleration parameter and the equation of state (EoS) parameter. Also, by varying the associated parameters, classical stability of the method is established. On considering the curvature to be positive, the universe favors the quintom behavior for substantially smaller values as opposed to the flat condition, when only quintessence is attained for such $K$ values. Additionally, we see a similar behavior while considering the curvature to be negative for such $K$ values. Therefore, adding a little bit of spatial geometry that isn't flat to the KHDE enhances the phenomenology while maintaining $K$ values at lower levels. To validate the model parameters, the most recent $30\;H(z)$ dataset measurements, in the redshift range $0.07 \leq z \leq 1.965$ are utilized. In addition, the distance modulus measurement from the current Union 2.1 data set of type Ia supernovae are employed.

In this work, we study the properties of cumulative residual entropy generating function. We then introduce dynamic cumulative residual entropy generating function (DCREGF). It is shown that the DCREGF determines the distribution uniquely. We study some characterization results using the relationship between DCREGF and hazard rate and mean residual life function. A new class of life distribution based on decreasing DCREGF is introduced. Finally we develop a test for decreasing DCREGF and study its performance.

Solid-state nanopores have received substantial attention in the past years owing to their simplicity and potential applications expected in genomics, sensing, archival information storage, and computing. The underlying sensing technique of nanopore technology is the analysis of modulations in the ionic current while molecules are electrophoretically driven through the nanopore. This current blockade-based sensing is presently well recognized and commercially used for applications such as DNA sequencing. However, this ionic currentbased method has limitations and increased complexity for futuristic applications such as single molecular protein sequencing, where diverse charges and shape distributions are involved. A high throughput readout method that can be used in extreme environments and has improved sensitivity to the mixed charge profiles and shape of the analytes is required. In this work, we present an exploratory finite element simulation study on the feasibility of using electric-field modulations instead of ionic current blockades for nanopore translocation measurements. This electric field sensing technique has further advantages over ionic current blockade measurements. For instance, Electric field sensing is capable of size and charge discretion with lesser noise and does not mandate the presence of an electrolyte solution. This technique can be used in extreme environments and developed for defense and space applications such as detecting air-born particles and future mars, moon, and Europa missions. We hope this work will be a starting point for develo** electric field sensing for nanopore applications and opening the field of nanopore electrometry.

In this paper, we propose a new class of Control Barrier Functions (CBFs) for Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) that help avoid collisions with kinematic (non-zero velocity) obstacles. While the current forms of CBFs have been successful in guaranteeing safety/collision avoidance with static obstacles, extensions for the dynamic case have seen limited success. Moreover, with the UGV models like the unicycle or the bicycle, applications of existing CBFs have been conservative in terms of control, i.e., steering/thrust control has not been possible under certain scenarios. Drawing inspiration from the classical use of collision cones for obstacle avoidance in trajectory planning, we introduce its novel CBF formulation with theoretical guarantees on safety for both the unicycle and bicycle models. The main idea is to ensure that the velocity of the obstacle w.r.t. the vehicle is always pointing away from the vehicle. Accordingly, we construct a constraint that ensures that the velocity vector always avoids a cone of vectors pointing at the vehicle. The efficacy of this new control methodology is later verified by Pybullet simulations on TurtleBot3 and F1Tenth.

We have studied the superconducting properties of the isostructural ternary noncentrosymmetric superconductors TaXSi (X = Re, Ru) with the help of muon spin rotation/relaxation ($μ$SR) and density functional theory calculations. Our transverse-field $μ$SR measurements indicate isotropic s-wave superconductivity in TaReSi and multi-gap superconductivity in TaRuSi. Zero-field $μ$SR measurements, highly sensitive to very small magnetic fields, and no evidence for spontaneous fields in the superconducting state of TaReSi, whereas we observe small spontaneous fields that onset with superconductivity indicating broken time-reversal symmetry (TRS) superconductivity in TaRuSi. Using density functional theory calculations, we find that spin-orbit coupling is relatively weak in TaRuSi and strong in TaReSi. Using symmetry analysis, we attribute the broken time-reversal symmetry (TRS) in TaRuSi to a non-unitary triplet pairing state. Such a state is not allowed in the presence of strong spin-orbit coupling: our finding of no evidence for broken TRS in TaReSi is consistent with this expectation.

Mitigation of fossil fuel dependency is becoming a major concern in most of the countries around the globe. In that context, this research article presents the single phase two stage boost inverter system for wave energy conversion. The proposed wave energy based power conditioning system includes wave energy based functional block, permanent magnet synchronous generator, zeta converter, single phase H-bridge inverter and a resistive load. The boost inverter is used to boost up the voltage availed from the permanent magnet generator powered by a wave energy converter system using zeta converter and then invert it using an H-bridge inverter. Hence variable magnitude AC voltage is converted to constant magnitude AC voltage at constant frequency. The blocks of each component is designed to deliver the power of 1kW at the load terminals and simulation study is carried out in the MATLAB / Simulink platform for further analysis. The simulation results are presented and discussed to show how wave powered boost inverter can efficiently convert the wave energy to electrical energy and condition the electrical power before feeding it to any AC load or AC grid. The performance analysis of wave energy conversion system based on zeta converter is included at the end of the article

In order to ease the process of library management many technologies have been adopted but most of them focus on inventory management. There has hardly been any progress of automation in the field of issuing and returning books to the library on time. In colleges and schools, hostellers often forget to timely return the issued books back to the library. To solve the above issue and to ensure timely submission of the issued books, this work develops a Book-Bot which solves these complexities. The bot can commute from point A to point B, scan and verify QR Codes and Barcodes. The bot will have a certain payload capacity for carrying books. The QR code and Barcode scanning will be enabled by a Pi Camera, OpenCV and Raspberry Pi, thus making the exchange of books safe and secure. The odometry maneuvers of the bot will be controlled manually via a Blynk App. This paper focuses on how human intervention can be reduced and automates the issue part of library management system with the help of a bot.

First we develop a test for complete data and then discuss, how right censored observations can be incorporated in the testing procedure. The asymptotic properties of the test statistics in both uncensored and censored cases are studied in detail. Extensive Monte Carlo simulation studies are carried out to validate the performance of the proposed tests. We illustrate the procedures using real data sets. We also provide, a goodness of fit test for standard Rayleigh distribution based on jackknife empirical likelihood.

Time series is a collection of data instances that are ordered according to a time stamp. Stock prices, temperature, etc are examples of time series data in real life. Time series data are used for forecasting sales, predicting trends. Visualization is the process of visually representing data or the relationship between features of a data either in a two-dimensional plot or a three-dimensional plot. Visualizing the time series data constitutes an important part of the process for working with a time series dataset. Visualizing the data not only helps in the modelling process but it can also be used to identify trends and features that cause those trends. In this work, we take a real-life time series dataset and analyse how the target feature relates to other features of the dataset through visualization. From the work that has been carried out, we present an effective method of visualization for time series data which will be much useful for machine learning modelling with such datasets.

The detection and characterization of exoplanets and brown dwarfs (BDs) around massive AF-type stars is essential to investigate and constrain the impact of stellar mass on planet properties. However, such targets are still poorly explored in radial velocity (RV) surveys because they only feature a small number of stellar lines and those are usually broadened and blended by stellar rotation as well as stellar jitter. As a result, the available information about the formation and evolution of planets and BDs around hot stars is limited. We aim to increase the sample and precisely measure the masses and eccentricities of giant planets and BDs transiting AF-type stars detected by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). We followed bright (V < 12 mag) stars with $T_{\mathrm{eff}}$ > 6200 K that host giant companions (R > 7 $\mathrm{R_{\rm \oplus}}$) using ground-based photometric observations as well as high precision RV measurements from the CORALIE, CHIRON, TRES, FEROS, and MINERVA-Australis spectrographs. In the context, we present the discovery of three BD companions, TOI-629b, TOI-1982b, and TOI-2543b, and one massive planet, TOI-1107b. From the joint analysis we find the BDs have masses between 66 and 68 $\mathrm{M_{\rm Jup}}$, periods between 7.54 and 17.17 days, and radii between 0.95 and 1.11 $\mathrm{R_{\rm Jup}}$. The hot Jupiter TOI-1107b has an orbital period of 4.08 days, a radius of 1.30 $\mathrm{R_{\rm Jup}}$, and a mass of 3.35 $\mathrm{M_{\rm Jup}}$. As a by-product of this program, we identified four low-mass eclipsing components (TOI-288b, TOI-446b, TOI-478b, and TOI-764b). Both TOI-1107b and TOI-1982b present an anomalously inflated radius with respect to the age of these systems. TOI-629 is among the hottest stars with a known transiting brown dwarf. TOI-629b and TOI-1982b are among the most eccentric brown dwarfs.

In this manuscript, we present a novel dark energy model to study the nature of dark energy. Non-extensive Kaniadakis entropy and, timescale as infrared cutoff are the major tools of the current study. Age of the Universe will serve the purpose of infrared cutoff. The cosmological characteristics of the proposed dark energy model, as well as the evolution of the cosmos filled with pressure-free matter and the ensuing dark energy candidates, are investigated. The interaction as well as non-interaction among the two sectors will also be considered. The differential equation for the dark energy density parameter, including the expression of the equation of state and deceleration parameters, are derived. The analysis of deceleration parameter clearly shows the universe to transit from decelerated to accelerated phase around $z\approx 0.6$. The squared sound speed is also plotted against redshift $z$ to check the stability behavior of the model for both the cases.

Many countries which include United States, India, Brazil, United Kingdom, Russia etc were badly affected by covid-19 pandemic due to the large population. The total confirmed cases reported in this country are 51.7M, 34.7M, 22.2M, 11.3M, 10.2M respectively till December 20, 2021. This pandemic can be controlled with the help of precautionary steps by government & civilians of the country. The early prediction of covid-19 cases helps to track the transmission dynamics & alert the government to take the necessary precautions. Recurrent Deep learning algorithms is a data driven model which plays a key role to capture the patterns present in time series data. In many literatures, the Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) based model are proposed for the efficient prediction of COVID-19 cases for different provinces. The study in the literature doesnt involve the interpretation of the model behavior & robustness. In this study, The LSTM model is proposed for the efficient prediction of active cases in each provinces of India. The active cases dataset for each province in India is taken from John Hopkins publicly available dataset for the duration from 10th June, 2020 to 4th August, 2021. The proposed LSTM model is trained on one state i.e., Maharashtra and tested for rest of the provinces in India. The concept of Explainable AI is involved in this study for the better interpretation & understanding of the model behavior. The proposed model is used to forecast the active cases in India from 16th December, 2021 to 5th March, 2022. It is notated that there will be a emergence of third wave on January, 2022 in India.
