Light quark and antiquark constraints from new electroweak data
Abstract: We present a new parton distribution function analysis which includes new data for W boson production in proton-proton collisions and lepton pair production in proton-proton and proton-deuteron collisions. Target mass corrections in lepton--nucleus DIS: theory and applications to nuclear PDFs
Abstract: Motivated by the wide range of kinematics covered by current and planned deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) facilities, we revisit the formalism, practical implementation, and numerical impact of target mass corrections (TMCs) for DIS on unpolarized nuclear targets. CJ15 global PDF analysis with new electroweak data from the STAR and SeaQuest experiments
Abstract: We present updates to a recent CTEQ-Jefferson Lab (CJ) global analysis of parton distribution functions with a new set of electroweak data that provide unique access to quark flavor separation in the proton. In particular, recent $W$ and $Z$ boson measurements from the STAR experiment at RHIC put additional constraints on light quarks and antiquarks near the valence regime. The new measurement of… ▽ More

Bayesian Reweighting for Global Fits
Abstract: Two different techniques for adding additional data sets to existing global fits using Bayesian reweighting have been proposed in the literature. A Next-to-Leading-Order Study of Dihadron Production
Abstract: The production of pairs of hadrons in hadronic collisions is studied using a next-to-leading-order Monte Carlo program based on the phase space slicing technique. Up-to-date fragmentation functions based on fits to LEP data are employed, together with several versions of current parton distribution functions. Good agreement is found with data for the dihadron mass distribution. A comparison is a… ▽ More

The two cutoff phase space slicing method
Abstract: The phase space slicing method of two cutoffs for next-to-leading-order Monte-Carlo style QCD corrections has been applied to many physics processes. The method is intuitive, simple to implement, and relies on a minimum of process dependent information. Although results for specific applications exist in the literature, there is not a full and detailed description of the method. Herein such a de… ▽ More

Effects of Higher-Order Threshold Corrections in High-E_T Jet Production
Abstract: Results for higher-order threshold enhancements in high-E_T jet production in hadron-hadron collisions are presented. Expressions are given for the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) threshold corrections to the single-jet inclusive cross section at next-to-leading logarithmic (NLL) accuracy. The corrections are found to be small for the specific choice of E_T/2 for the factorization and renor… ▽ More

Parton Densitites at High-x
Abstract: Reliable knowledge of parton distributions at large x is crucial for many searches for new physics signals in the next generation of collider experiments. Although these are generally well determined in the small and medium x range, it has been shown that their uncertainty grows rapidly for x>0.1. We examine the status of the distributions in light of new questions that have been raised about "l… ▽ More

Soft-gluon resummation and NNLO corrections for direct photon production
Abstract: The resummation of threshold logarithms for direct photon production cross sections in hadronic collisions is presented. The resummation is based on the factorization properties of the cross section and is formulated at next-to-leading logarithmic or higher accuracy. Full analytical and numerical results for the next-to-next-to-leading order expansion of the resummed cross section are given. A s… ▽ More

Global QCD Analysis of Parton Structure of the Nucleon: CTEQ5 Parton Distributions
Abstract: An up-to-date global QCD analysis of high energy lepton-hadron and hadron-hadron interactions is performed to better determine the gluon and quark parton distributions in the nucleon. Improved experimental data on inclusive jet production, in conjunction with precise deep inelastic scattering data, place good constraints on the gluon over a wide range of x; while new data on asymmetries in Drell… ▽ More

Study of the Uncertainty of the Gluon Distribution
Abstract: The uncertainty in the calculation of many important new processes at the Tevatron and LHC is dominated by that concerning the gluon distribution function. We investigate the uncertainty in the gluon distribution of the proton by systematically varying the gluon parameters in the global QCD analysis of parton distributions. The results depend critically on the parton momentum fraction x and the… ▽ More

Jet photoproduction and the structure of the photon
Abstract: Various jet observables in photoproduction are studied and compared to data from HERA. The feasibility of using a dijet sample for constraining the parton distributions in the photon is then studied. For the current data the experimental and theoretical uncertainties are comparable to the variation due to changing the photon parton distribution set.
