The measurement problem and scientific realism
Abstract: Many attempts have been made to characterise and solve the infamous measurement problem of quantum mechanics by advocating, implicitly or explicitly, different realist perspectives. As a result, we are still uncertain where this problem and its corresponding solution are to be located in the realism-antirealism debate. On the basis of a well-known characterisation of scientific realism, this paper… ▽ More

Equivariant solutions to the optimal partition problem for the prescribed Q-curvature equation
Abstract: We study the optimal partition problem for the prescribed constant $Q$-curvature equation induced by the higher order conformal operators under the effect of cohomogeneity one actions on Einstein manifolds with positive scalar curvature. This allows us to give a precise description of the solution domains and their boundaries in terms of the orbits of the action. We also prove the existence of lea… ▽ More

Poisson cohomology of singular fibrations in dimension 4
Abstract: It is known that there exist singular Poisson structures in $4$-manifolds, whose symplectic foliation is given by singular fibrations over surfaces. In this work, we describe the effect of the monodromy of the fibration on the Poisson cohomology groups.

An Iteration Method for Solving Elliptic Equations
Abstract: In this paper we use a natural iteration technique to prove existence of solutions to nonlinear Dirichlet problems. Among the examples included is the prescribed mean curvature equation. The nature of the technique allows applications to unbounded domains, as we show with domains of the form $\mathbb{R}^{n-1}\times\left(-d/2,d/2\right)$.

The Yamabe equation in small convex domains in $\mathbb{R}^3$ and small balls in $\mathbb{R}^n$
Abstract: We show an iterative method to solve a Dirichlet problem for a Yamabe-type equation in small convex domains in $\mathbb{R}^3$ and small balls in $\mathbb{R}^3$.

Holopix50k: A Large-Scale In-the-wild Stereo Image Dataset
Abstract: With the mass-market adoption of dual-camera mobile phones, leveraging stereo information in computer vision has become increasingly important. Current state-of-the-art methods utilize learning-based algorithms, where the amount and quality of training samples heavily influence results. Existing stereo image datasets are limited either in size or subject variety. Hence, algorithms trained on such… ▽ More

GPU-Accelerated Mobile Multi-view Style Transfer
Abstract: An estimated 60% of smartphones sold in 2018 were equipped with multiple rear cameras, enabling a wide variety of 3D-enabled applications such as 3D Photos. The success of 3D Photo platforms (Facebook 3D Photo, Holopix, etc) depend on a steady influx of user generated content. These platforms must provide simple image manipulation tools to facilitate content creation, akin to traditional photo pla… ▽ More

On Bott-Morse Foliations and their Poisson Structures in Dimension 3
Abstract: We show that a Bott-Morse foliation in dimension 3 admits a linear, singular, Poisson structure of rank 2 with Bott-Morse singularities. We provide the Poisson bivectors for each type of singular component, and compute the symplectic forms of the characteristic distribution.

Invariant Solutions of the Yamabe equation on the Koiso-Cao Soliton
Abstract: We consider the non-trivial Ricci soliton on $\mathbb{CP}^2\#\overline{\mathbb{CP}^2}$ constructed by Koiso and Cao. It is a Kähler metric invariant by the $U(2)$ action on $\mathbb{CP}^2\#\overline{\mathbb{CP}^2}$. We study its Yamabe equation and prove it has exactly one $U(2)-$invariant solution up to homothecies.

Poisson and near-symplectic structures on generalized wrinkled fibrations in dimension 6
Abstract: We show that generalized broken fibrations in arbitrary dimensions admit rank-2 Poisson structures compatible with the fibration structure. After extending the notion of wrinkled fibration to dimension 6 we prove that these wrinkled fibrations also admit compatible rank-2 Poisson structures. In the cases with indefinite singularities we can provide these wrinkled fibrations in dimension 6 with nea… ▽ More

Electron dynamics inside a vacuum tube diode through linear differential equations
Abstract: In this paper we analyze the motion of charged particles in a vacuum tube diode by solving linear differential equations. Our analysis is based on expressing the volume charge density as a function of the current density and coordinates only, while in the usual scheme the volume charge density is expressed as a function of the current density and electrostatic potential. Our approach gives the wel… ▽ More
