It is known that the model based on U(1)$_{L_μ-L_τ}$ gauge symmetry can explain not only the discrepancy between the measured value of muon $g-2$ and the theoretical prediction, but also the structure of the neutrino mass and mixings. We revisit the analysis of the mass matrix structure in the minimal U(1)$_{L_μ-L_τ}$ models based on the latest experimental result, where the minimal stands for the symmetry breaking caused only by a single scalar field. We find that the model called type ${\bf 2}_{+1}$, where an SU(2)$_L$ doublet scalar $Φ_{+1}$ with the U(1)$_{L_μ- L_τ}$ charge $+1$ and the hypercharge $+1/2$, predicts the $\bf B_3$ texture and is marginally acceptable under the current neutrino oscillation data and cosmological observation. When the U(1)$_{L_μ- L_τ}$ gauge symmetry is broken by the vacuum expectation value of the standard model non-singlet representation such as $Φ_{+1}$, there are additional contributions to the flavor-changing meson decay process and atomic parity violation via the $Z-Z'$ mixing. We newly evaluate the model-dependent constraints on the model and conclude that the type ${\bf 2}_{+1}$ model is robustly ruled out. The model is extended to have an additional vacuum expectation value of a standard model singlet scalar in order to avoid the stringent constraint from the flavor-changing meson decay. Finally, we find the allowed range of the ratio of these vacuum expectation values.

We study the impact of renormalization group effects on QCD axion phenomenology. Focusing on the DFSZ model, we argue that the relevance of running effects for the axion couplings crucially depends on the scale where the heavier Higgs scalars are integrated out. We study the impact of these effects on astrophysical and cosmological bounds as well as on the sensitivity of helioscopes experiments such as IAXO and XENONnT, showing that they can be sizable even in the most conservative case in which the two Higgs doublets remain as light as the TeV scale. We provide simple analytical expressions that accurately fit the numerical solutions of the renormalization group equations as a function of the mass scale of the heavy scalars.

We examine the sensitivity of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to light lepton portal dark matter with its mass below 10$\,$GeV. The model features an extra doublet scalar field and singlet Dirac dark matter, which have Yukawa interactions with left-handed leptons. To correctly produce the dark matter abundance via the thermal freeze-out, a large mass splitting among the extra scalars is required, thus providing a light neutral scalar below ${\cal O}(10)$GeV and heavy neutral and charged scalars at the electroweak scale. In this paper, we focus on the electroweak pair-production of the extra scalars with subsequent model-specific scalar decays and evaluate the current constraints with the LHC Run$\,$2 data and the discovery potential at the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC). It turns out that a large part of the theoretically allowed parameter space can be tested at the HL-LHC by taking into account complementarity between slepton searches and mono-$Z$ plus missing transverse energy search. We also discuss same-sign charged scalar production as a unique prediction of the model, and the implication of the collider searches in the thermal dark matter scenario.

Let $\mathcal{A}$ be a tame order of global dimension $2$ over a normal surface $X$ over $\mathbf{k}$ such that $\operatorname{Z}(\mathcal{A})=\mathcal{O}_{X}$ is locally a direct summand of $\mathcal{A}$. We prove that there is a $μ_N$-gerbe $\mathcal{X}$ over a smooth tame algebraic stack whose generic stabilizer is trivial, with coarse space $X$ such that the category of 1-twisted coherent sheaves on $\mathcal{X}$ is equivalent to the category of coherent sheaves of modules on $\mathcal{A}$. Moreover, the stack $\mathcal{X}$ is constructed explicitly through a sequence of root stacks, canonical stacks, and gerbes. This extends results of Reiten and Van den Bergh to finite characteristic and the global situation. As applications, in characteristic $0$ we prove that such orders are geometric noncommutative schemes in the sense of Orlov, and we study relations with Hochschild cohomology and Connes' convolution algebra.

It has been recently pointed out that in certain axion models it is possible to suppress simultaneously both the axion couplings to nucleons and electrons, realising the so-called astrophobic axion scenarios, wherein the tight bounds from SN1987A and from stellar evolution of red giants and white dwarfs are greatly relaxed. So far, however, the conditions for realising astrophobia have only been set out in tree-level analyses. Here we study whether these conditions can still be consistently implemented once renormalization group effects are included in the running of axion couplings. We find that axion astrophobia keeps holding, albeit within fairly different parameter space regions, and we provide analytical insights into this result. Given that astrophobic axion models generally feature flavour violating axion couplings, we also assess the impact of renormalization group effects on axion-mediated flavour violating observables.

A $μτ$-philic scalar doublet is introduced to explain the discrepancy between the experimental value and the theoretical prediction of the muon anomalous magnetic moment. At the same time, these flavored scalars play the role of a mediator which connects dark matter and standard model particles. The observed relic abundance of the dark matter is easily maintained while satisfying the current severe constraints on the dark matter from various experiments and observations thanks to the flavor off-diagonal interactions of scalar mediators. We also explore the possibility of dark matter direct detection through the one-loop process.

The one-loop corrections induced by the new particles can shift the $W$ boson mass. Besides, the discrepancy in the muon anomalous magnetic moment and the DM density can simultaneously be explained by this setup, if the vector-like lepton is lighter than 200 GeV and nearly degenerate with the DM particle. We also see that the constraints on such a light extra lepton from the collider experiments can be evaded due to the existence of the DM particle.

We study lepton flavor violating meson decays induced by box diagrams involving a vector leptoquark (LQ) and scalar fields in Pati-Salam (PS) unification with vector-like families. The vector LQ corresponds to the massive gauge boson associated with the PS gauge symmetry breaking and the scalar fields are the physical degrees of freedom of the PS breaking field. The LQ generally causes the rapid flavor violating decays, such as $K_L \to μe$, at the tree-level unless its mass scale is higher than PeV scale. The vector-like families are introduced to suppress the tree-level contributions mediated by the LQ and explain the realistic fermion mass matrices. In this paper, we point out that there are inevitable one-loop contributions to those meson decays from the box diagrams mediated by both one LQ and one scalar field, even if the tree-level contributions are suppressed. We consider a concrete model for demonstration, and find that the vector-like fermion masses have an upper bound for a given LQ mass when the one-loop induced meson decays are consistent with the experimental limits. The vector-like fermion mass should be lighter than 3 TeV for 20 TeV LQ, if a combination of the couplings does not suppress $K_L \to μe$ decay. Our findings would illustrate importance of the box diagrams involving both LQ and physical modes of symmetry breaking scalars in generic models.

We revisit the non-perturbative generation of these $CP$-odd axion forces, and refine estimates of $\bar g_{aNN}$ generated by the EDMs and color EDMs of quarks. We also revisit the Standard Model contribution to $CP$-odd axion couplings generated by the phase of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa quark mixing matrix.

Structure theorems for exceptional objects and exceptional collections of the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on del Pezzo surfaces are established by Kuleshov and Orlov. In this paper we propose conjectures which generalize these results to weak del Pezzo surfaces. Unlike del Pezzo surfaces, an exceptional object on a weak del Pezzo surface is not necessarily a shift of a sheaf and is not determined by its class in the Grothendieck group. Our conjectures explain how these complications are taken care of by spherical twists, the categorification of $(-2)$-reflections acting on the derived category.
This paper is devoted to solving the conjectures for the prototypical weak del Pezzo surface $Σ_{ 2 }$, the Hirzebruch surface of degree $2$. Specifically, we prove the following results: Any exceptional object is sent to the shift of the uniquely determined exceptional vector bundle by a product of spherical twists which acts trivially on the Grothendieck group of the derived category. Any exceptional collection on $Σ_{ 2 }$ is part of a full exceptional collection. We moreover prove that the braid group on $4$ strands acts transitively on the set of exceptional collections of length $4$ (up to shifts).

In this paper, we show an explicit way to realize a TeV-scale vector leptoquark from the Pati-Salam (PS) unification with extra vectorlike families. The leptoquark mass is constrained to be heavier than PeV-scale by the measurement of a flavor violating kaon decay, $K_L \to μe$, in conventional models. This strong constraint can be avoided by introducing vectorlike families consistently with the quark and lepton masses and CKM and PMNS matrices. The other flavor violating processes are also suppressed. In this model, the vector leptoquark can be sufficiently light to explain the recent $b\to sμμ$ anomaly, while the $b\to cτν$ anomaly is difficult to be explained due to the strong constraints from the $Z^\prime$ boson and vectorlike quark searches at the LHC. When the $b\to sμμ$ anomaly is explained, we show that $\mathcal{O}({0.2})$ % tuning is required in the fermion matrix, the future experiments in $μ\to eγ$ and $μ$-$e$ conversions will cover the most available parameter space, and sizable neutral meson mixings, induced by the extra Higgs doublets, are unavoidable.

There are Yukawa couplings involving dark matter, left-handed leptons and an extra scalar doublet in the model. In the light mass region, dark matter is thermally produced via its annihilation into neutrinos. In order to obtain the correct relic abundance and avoid collider bounds, a neutral scalar is required to be light while charged scalars need to be heavier than the electroweak scale. Such a mass spectrum is realized by adjusting quartic couplings in the scalar potential or introducing an extra singlet scalar. It turns out that the mass region of 10MeV-10GeV is almost free from experimental and observational constraints. We also point out that searches for extra neutrino flux from galactic dark matter annihilations with neutrino telescopes are the best way to test our model.

Using the moduli space of semiorthogonal decompositions in a smooth projective family introduced by the second, the third and the fourth author, we discuss indecomposability results for derived categories in families. In particular, we prove that given a smooth projective family of varieties, if the derived category of the general fibre does not admit a semiorthogonal decomposition, the same happens for every fibre of the family. As a consequence, we deduce that in a smooth family of complex projective varieties, if there exists a fibre such that the base locus of its canonical linear series is either empty or finite, then any fibre of the family has indecomposable derived category.
Then we apply our results to achieve indecomposability of the derived categories of various explicit classes of varieties, as e.g. $n$-fold symmetric products of curves (with $0<n<\lfloor (g+3)/2 \rfloor$), Horikawa surfaces, an interesting class of double covers of the projective plane introduced by Ciliberto, and Hilbert schemes of points on these two classes of surfaces.

For a smooth projective family of schemes we prove that a semiorthogonal decomposition of the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves of the fiber of a point uniquely deforms over an étale neighborhood of the point. We do this using a comparison theorem between semiorthogonal decompositions and decomposition triangles of the structure sheaf of the diagonal. We then apply to the latter a deformation theory for morphisms with a fixed lift of the target, which is developed in the appendix.
Using this as a key ingredient we introduce a moduli space which classifies semiorthogonal decompositions of the category of perfect complexes of a smooth projective family. We show that this is an étale algebraic space over the base scheme of the family, which can be non-quasicompact and non-separated. This is done using Artin's criterion for a functor to be an étale algebraic space over the base.
We generalize this to families of geometric noncommutative schemes in the sense of Orlov. We also define the open subspace classifying non-trivial semiorthogonal decompositions only, which is used in a companion paper to study indecomposability of derived categories in various examples.

We examine the sensitivity of electric dipole moments (EDMs) to new $CP$-violating physics in a hidden (or dark) sector, neutral under the Standard Model (SM) gauge groups, and coupled via renormalizable portals. In the absence of weak sector interactions, we show that the electron EDM can be induced purely through the gauge kinetic mixing portal, but requires five loops, and four powers of the kinetic mixing parameter $ε$. Allowing weak interactions, and incorporating the Higgs and neutrino portals, we show that the leading contributions to $d_e$ arise at two-loop order, with the main source of $CP$-violating being in the interaction of dark Higgs and heavy singlet neutrinos. In such models, EDMs can provide new sensitivity to portal couplings that is complementary to direct probes at the intensity frontier or high energy colliders.

We extend the Standard Model (SM) with parity symmetry, motivated by the strong CP problem and dark matter. In our model, parity symmetry is conserved at high energy by introducing a mirror sector with the extra gauge symmetry, $ SU(2)_R \times U(1)_R$. The charges of $SU(2)_R \times U(1)_R$ are assigned to the mirror fields in the same way as in the SM, but the chiralities of the mirror fermions are opposite to respect the parity symmetry. The strong CP problem is resolved, since the mirror quarks are also charged under the $SU(3)_c$ in the SM. In the minimal setup, the mirror gauge symmetry leads to stable colored particles which would be inconsistent with the observed data, so that we introduce two scalars in order to deplete the stable colored particles. Interestingly, one of the scalars becomes stable because of the gauge symmetry and therefore can be a good dark matter candidate. We especially study the phenomenology relevant to the dark matter, i.e. thermal relic density, direct and indirect searches for the dark matter. The bounds from the LHC experiment and the Landau pole are also taken into account. As a result, we find that a limited region is viable: the mirror up quark mass is around [600\,GeV, 3\,TeV] and the relative mass difference between the dark matter and the mirror up quark or electron is about ${\cal O}$(1-10\,\%). We also discuss the neutrino sector and show that the right-handed neutrinos in the mirror sector can increase the effective number of neutrinos or dark radiation by $0.14$.

Recently, the LHCb collaboration has reported the excesses in the $b \to s ll$ processes. One of the promising candidates for new physics to explain the anomalies is the extended Standard Model (SM) with vector-like quarks and leptons. In that model, Yukawa couplings between the extra fermions and SM fermions are introduced, adding extra scalars. Then, the box diagrams involving the extra fields achieve the $b \to s ll$ anomalies. It has been known that the excesses require the large Yukawa couplings of leptons, so that this kind of model can be tested by studying correlations with other observables. In this paper, we consider the extra scalar to be a dark matter (DM) candidate, and investigate DM physics as well as the flavor physics and the LHC physics. The DM relic density and the direct-detection cross section are also dominantly given by the Yukawa couplings, so that we find some explicit correlations between DM physics and the flavor physics. In particular, we find the predictions of the $b \to s ll$ anomalies against the direct detection of DM.

The small quark mixing, described by the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix in the Standard Model, may be a clue to reveal new physics around the TeV scale. We consider a simple scenario that extra particles in a hidden sector radiatively mediate the flavor violation to the quark sector around the TeV scale and effectively realize the observed CKM matrix. The lightest particle in the hidden sector, whose contribution to the CKM matrix is expected to be dominant, is a good dark matter (DM) candidate, so we focus on the contribution, and discuss the DM physics. In this scenario, there is an explicit relation between the CKM matrix and flavor violating couplings, such as four-quark couplings, because both are radiatively induced by the particles in the hidden sector. Then, we can explicitly find the DM mass region and the size of Yukawa couplings between the DM and quarks, based on the study of flavor physics and DM physics. In conclusion, we show that DM mass in our scenario is around the TeV scale, and the Yukawa couplings are between ${\cal O}(0.01)$ and ${\cal O}(1)$. The spin-independent DM scattering cross section is estimated as ${\cal O}(10^{-9})$ [pb]. An extra colored particle is also predicted at the ${\cal O}(10)$ TeV scale.

We propose a model which accounts for the dynamical origin of the electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB), directly linking to the mass generation of dark matter (DM) candidate and active neutrinos. The standard model (SM) is weakly charged under the $U(1)_{\rm B-L}$ gauge symmetry, in conjunction with newly introduced three right-handed Majorana neutrinos and the $U(1)_{\rm B-L}$ Higgs. The model is built on the classical scale invariance, that is dynamically broken by a new strongly coupled sector, what is called the hypercolor (HC) sector, which is also weakly coupled to the $U(1)_{\rm B-L}$ gauge. At the HC strong scale, the simultaneous breaking of the EW and $U(1)_{\rm B-L}$ gauge symmetries is triggered by dynamically induced multiple seesaw mechanisms, namely bosonic seesaw mechanisms. Thus, all the origins of masses are provided singly by the HC dynamics: that is what we call the dynamical scalegenesis. We also find that an HC baryon, with mass on the order of a few TeV, can be stabilized by the HC baryon number and the $U(1)_{\rm B-L}$ charge, so identified as a DM candidate. The relic abundance of the HC-baryon DM can be produced dominantly via the bosonic-seesaw portal process, and the HC-baryon DM can be measured through the large magnetic moment coupling generated from the HC dynamics, or the $U(1)_{\rm B-L}$-gauge boson portal in direct detection experiments.

In the scenario that a dark matter (DM) is a weakly interacting massive particle, there are many possibilities of the interactions with the Standard Model (SM) particles to achieve the relic density of DM. In this paper, we consider one simple DM model where the DM candidate is a complex scalar and interacts with the SM particles via exchange of the Higgs particle and an extra quark, named bottom partner. The extra quark carries the same quantum number as the right-handed down-type quarks and has Yukawa couplings with the DM candidate and the right-handed down-type quarks. The Yukawa interactions are not only relevant to the thermal relic density of the DM, but also contribute to the flavor physics, such as the $ΔF=2$ processes. In addition, the flavor alignment of the Yukawa couplings is related to the decay modes of the extra quark. Then, we can find the explicit correlations among the physical observables in DM physics, flavor physics and the signals at the LHC. Based on the numerical analyses of the thermal relic density, the direct detection of the DM and the current LHC bounds using the latest results, we survey our predictions for the $ΔF=2$ processes. We investigate the perturbative bound on the Yukawa coupling, as well. Study of a fermionic DM model with extra scalar quarks is also given for comparison.

The relic abundance of the dark matter (DM) particle $d$ is studied in a secluded DM scenario, in which the $d$ number decreasing process dominantly occurs not through the pair annihilation of $d$ into the standard model particles, but via the $dd \to mm$ scattering process with a subsequently decaying mediator particle $m$. It is pointed out that the cosmologically observed relic abundance of DM can be accomplished even with a massive mediator having a mass $m_m$ non-negligibly heavy compared with the DM particle mass $m_d$. In the degenerated $d$-$m$ case ($m_d=m_m$), the DM relic abundance is realized by adjusting the $dd \to mm$ scattering amplitude large enough and by choosing an appropriate mediator particle life-time. The DM evolution in the early universe exhibits characteristic "terrace" behavior, or two-step number density decreasing behavior, having a "fake" freeze-out at the first step. Based on these observations, a novel possibility of the DM model buildings is introduced in which the mediator particle $m$ is unified with the DM particle $d$ in an approximate dark symmetry multiplet. A pionic DM model is proposed to illustrate this idea in a renormalizable field theory framework.

We find the unitarity sum rules and the custodial symmetry are powerful enough to predict various nontrivial relations among $WWZ'$, $WZW'$, $WWh$, $WW'h$ and $ZZ'h$ coupling strengths in a model independent manner. We also perform surveys in the general parameter space of $W'$ models and find the ATLAS 2 TeV diboson anomalies may be interpreted as a $W'$ particle of the three site moose model, i.e., a Kaluza-Klein like particle in a deconstructed extra dimension model. Abstract:
We show that every Mori dream space of globally $F$-regular type is of Fano type. As an application, we give a characterization of varieties of Fano type in terms of the singularities of their Cox rings.

Abstract:
It is known that if a Büchi context-free language (BCFL) consists of scattered words, then there is an integer $n$, depending only on the language, such that the Hausdorff rank of each word in the language is bounded by $n$. Every BCFL is a Müller context-free language (MCFL). In the first part of the paper, we prove that an MCFL of scattered words is a BCFL iff the rank of every word in the langu…

It is known that if a Büchi context-free language (BCFL) consists of scattered words, then there is an integer $n$, depending only on the language, such that the Hausdorff rank of each word in the language is bounded by $n$. Every BCFL is a Müller context-free language (MCFL). In the first part of the paper, we prove that an MCFL of scattered words is a BCFL iff the rank of every word in the language is bounded by an integer depending only on the language.
Then we establish operational characterizations of the BCFLs of well-ordered and scattered words. We prove that a language is a BCFL consisting of well-ordered words iff it can be generated from the singleton languages containing the letters of the alphabet by substitution into ordinary context-free languages and the $ω$-power operation. We also establish a corresponding result for BCFLs of scattered words and define expressions denoting BCFLs of well-ordered and scattered words. In the final part of the paper we give some applications.
