Minimising cycle time without inducing quality defects is a major challenge in the injection moulding (IM). Design of Experiment methods (DoE) have been widely studied for optimisation of the IM, however existing methods have limitations, including the need for a large number of experiments and a pre-determined search space. Bayesian adaptive design of experiment (ADoE) is an iterative process where the results of the previous experiments are used to make an informed selection for the next design. In this study, for the first time, an experimental ADoE approach, based on Bayesian optimisation, was developed in injection moulding using process and sensor data to optimise the quality and cycle time in real-time. A novel approach for the real-time characterisation of post-production shrinkage was introduced, utilising in-mould sensor data on temperature differential during part cooling. This characterisation approach was verified by post-production metrology results.
A single and multi-objective optimisation of the cycle time and temperature differential in an injection moulded component is proposed. The multi-objective optimisation techniques, composite desirability function and Nondominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II) using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) model, are compared with the real-time novel ADoE approach. ADoE achieved almost a 50% reduction in the number of experiments required for the single optimisation of temperature differential, and an almost 30% decrease for the optimisation of temperature differential and cycle time together compared to composite desirability function and NSGA-II. Also, the optimal settings identified by ADoE for multiobjective optimisation were similar to the selected Pareto optimal solution found by the NSGA-II.

Compressed bitmap indexes are used in systems such as Git or Oracle to accelerate queries. They represent sets and often support operations such as unions, intersections, differences, and symmetric differences. Several important systems such as Elasticsearch, Apache Spark, Netflix's Atlas, LinkedIn's Pinot, Metamarkets' Druid, Pilosa, Apache Hive, Apache Tez, Microsoft Visual Studio Team Services and Apache Kylin rely on a specific type of compressed bitmap index called Roaring. We present an optimized software library written in C implementing Roaring bitmaps: CRoaring. It benefits from several algorithms designed for the single-instruction-multiple-data (SIMD) instructions available on commodity processors. In particular, we present vectorized algorithms to compute the intersection, union, difference and symmetric difference between arrays. We benchmark the library against a wide range of competitive alternatives, identifying weaknesses and strengths in our software. Our work is available under a liberal open-source license.

We present preliminary calculations towards radiative transitions in charmonium using anisotropic $N_f = 2 + 1$ dynamical ensembles generated by the Hadron Spectrum Collaboration. With the use of newer technologies we aim to investigate transitions between states, including potential exotic charmonium states, lying higher in the spectrum than in previous studies. A crucial ingredient in this work is the use of variationally optimised interpolating operators which allow for a reliable determination of the three-point correlation functions needed. Using these operators, we perform first calculations of relevant three-point correlation functions before discussing future directions.

We present highly-excited charmonium, $D_s$ and $D$ meson spectra from dynamical lattice QCD calculations with light quarks corresponding to $M_π \sim 240$ MeV and compare these to previous results with $M_π \sim 400$ MeV. Utilising the distillation framework, large bases of carefully constructed interpolating operators and a variational procedure, we extract and reliably identify the continuum spin of an extensive set of excited mesons. These include states with exotic quantum numbers which, along with a number with non-exotic quantum numbers, we identify as having excited gluonic degrees of freedom and interpret as hybrid mesons. Comparing the spectra at the two different $M_π$, we find only a mild light-quark mass dependence and no change in the overall pattern of states.

A Compact Expression for Periodic Instantons

Abstract:
Instantons on various spaces can be constructed via a generalization of the Fourier transform called the ADHM-Nahm transform. An explicit use of this construction, however, involves rather tedious calculations. Here we derive a simple formula for instantons on a space with one periodic direction. It simplifies the ADHM-Nahm machinery and can be generalized to other spaces.

We explore maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with walls of impurities respecting half of the supersymmetries. The walls carry fundamental or bifundamental matter multiplets. We employ three-dimensional N=2 superspace language to identify the Higgs branch of this theory. We find that the vacuum conditions determining the Higgs branch are exactly the bow equations yielding Yang-Mills instantons on a multi-Taub-NUT space.
Under electric-magnetic duality, the super Yang-Mills theory describing the bulk is mapped to itself, while the fundamental- and bifundamental-carrying impurity walls are interchanged. We perform a one-loop computation on the Coulomb branch of the dual theory to find the asymptotic metric on the original Higgs branch.
