Finite Radiative Electroweak Symmetry Breaking from the Bulk
Abstract: A new physical origin for electroweak symmetry breaking is proposed, involving compact spatial dimensions of scale 1/R \approx 1 TeV. The higher dimensional theory is supersymmetric, and hence requires the top-quark Yukawa coupling to be localized on some ``Yukawa brane'' in the bulk. The short distance divergence in the Higgs-boson mass is regulated because supersymmetry is unbroken in the vici… ▽ More

Variations on Supersymmetry Breaking and Neutrino Spectra
Abstract: The problem of generating light neutrinos within supersymmetric models is discussed. It is shown that the hierarchy of scales induced by supersymmetry breaking can give rise to suppression factors of the correct order of magnitude to produce experimentally allowed neutrino spectra.

Viable Ultraviolet-Insensitive Supersymmetry Breaking
Abstract: It is known that one can add D-term contributions for U(1)_Y and U(1)_{B-L} to the anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking to make the superparticle spectrum phenomenologically viable. We point out that this can be done without spoiling its important virtue, namely the ultraviolet insensitivity. This framework can be derived from supersymmetry breaking and U(1)_{B-L} breaking on hidden brane(s).

A Constrained Standard Model from a Compact Extra Dimension
Abstract: A SU(3) \times SU(2) \times U(1) supersymmetric theory is constructed with a TeV sized extra dimension compactified on the orbifold S^1/(Z_2 \times Z_2'). The compactification breaks supersymmetry leaving a set of zero modes which correspond precisely to the states of the 1 Higgs doublet standard model. Supersymmetric Yukawa interactions are localized at orbifold fixed points. The top quark hype… ▽ More

Low-Scale See-Saw Mechanisms for Light Neutrinos
Abstract: Alternatives to the see-saw mechanism are explored in supersymmetric models with three right-handed or sterile neutrinos. Tree-level Yukawa couplings can be drastically suppressed in a natural way to give sub-eV Dirac neutrino masses. If, in addition, a B-L gauge symmetry broken at a large scale M_G is introduced, a wider range of possibilities opens up. The value of the right-handed neutrino ma… ▽ More

Bulk U(1) Messenger
Abstract: We propose a new U(1) gauge interaction in the bulk in higher dimensional spacetime, which transmits supersymmetry-breaking effects on the hidden brane to the observable our brane. We find that rather small gauge coupling constant of U(1)_{bulk}, $α_{bulk} \simeq 5 \times 10^{-4}$, is required for a successful phenomenology. This result implies the compactification length $L$ of the extra dimens… ▽ More

Quintessence Axion Potential Induced by Electroweak Instanton Effects
Abstract: Recent cosmological observations suggest the presence of small but nonzero cosmological constant $Λ_{cos}^4 \simeq (2 \times 10^{-3} eV)^4$. It is an intriguing possibility that such a small cosmological constant is supplied by the potential energy density of an ultralight axion-like field (called as quintessence axion). If this axion couples to the electroweak gauge fields, its potential may be… ▽ More

Natural Effective Supersymmetry
Abstract: Much heavier sfermions of the first-two generations than the other superparticles provide a natural explanation for the flavor and CP problems in the supersymmetric standard model (SUSY SM). However, the heavy sfermions may drive the mass squareds for the light third generation sfermions to be negative through two-loop renormalization group (RG) equations, breaking color and charge. Mass Generation for an Ultralight Axion
Abstract: If a global chiral symmetry is explicitly broken by anomalies in nonabelian gauge theories, a pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson (axion) associated with a spontaneous breakdown of such a global symmetry acquires a mass through nonperturbative instanton effects. We calculate the axion mass assuming a supersymmetric SU(2) gauge theory and show that the axion obtains an extremely small mass when the SU(2… ▽ More

Decoupling Solution to the Supersymmetric Flavor Problem without Color Instability
Abstract: The supersymmetric flavor problem is elegantly solved by the decoupling scenario, where the first-two generation sfermions are much heavier than the third generation ones. However, such a mass spectrum is not stable against renormalization group evolution and causes extreme fine-tuning of the electroweak symmetry breaking. We present a mechanism which stabilizes the mass spectrum with such a lar… ▽ More

Cosmological Constants as Messenger between Branes

The breaking scales in the hidden and observable sectors are related through the vanishing condition of the cosmological constant with a brane-world picture in mind. A Relation on Gaugino Masses in a Supersymmetric SO(10)_GUT x SO(6)_H Unified Model
Abstract: The doublet-triplet splitting problem in supersymmetric grand unified theories is elegantly solved in a supersymmetric SO(10)_GUT x SO(6)_H model. In this model, the gauginos in the supersymmetric standard model do not respect the usual GUT gaugino mass relation. We point out that in spite of non-unified gaugino masses there is one nontrivial relation among gaugino masses in the model. Thus, it… ▽ More

Grand-Unification Scale Generation through the Anomalous U(1) Breaking
Abstract: We discuss the anomalous U(1) gauge symmetry as a mechanism of generating the grand-unification scale. We conclude that unification to a simple group cannot be realized unless some parameters are ``tuned'', and that models with product gauge groups are preferred. We consider the ``R-invariant natural unification'' model with gauge groups SU(5)_{GUT} \times U(3)_H. In this model the doublet-tripl… ▽ More

A Gauge-Mediation Model of Dynamical SUSY Breaking with a Wide Range of the Gravitino Mass
Abstract: We provide a gauge-mediation model of dynamical supersymmetry breaking where the gravitino mass takes a value in a wide range from 0.1 eV to 10 GeV. The lower mass region of order 100 keV or less deserves experimental and cosmological interests. The vacuum of our model is a true one without runaway instability, which may be desirable in a cosmological evolution of the universe.

Large Squark and Slepton Masses for the First-Two Generations in the Anomalous U(1) SUSY Breaking Models
Abstract: Considering that the soft SUSY breaking scalar masses come from a vacuum expectation value of the D-term for an external gauge multiplet, the renormalization of the scalar masses is related to the gauge anomaly. Then, if the external gauge symmetry is anomaly-free and has no kinetic mixing with the other U(1) gauge symmetries, the scalar masses are non-renormalized at all orders assuming that th… ▽ More

Long Lived Superheavy Dark Matter with Discrete Gauge Symmetries

Phenomenological Aspects of a Direct-transmission Model of Dynamical Supersymmetry Breaking with the Gravitino Mass $m_{3/2} < 1~\KEV$
