The Astrobiology Graduate Conference (AbGradCon) is an annual conference both organized for and by early career researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and students as a way to train the next generation of astrobiologists and develop a robust network of cohorts moving forward. AbGradCon 2021 was held virtually on September 14-17, 2021, hosted by the Earth-Life Science Institute (ELSI) of Tokyo Institute of Technology after postponement of the in-person event in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting consisted of presentations by 120 participants from a variety of fields, two keynote speakers, and other career building events and workshops. Here, we report on the organizational and executional aspects of AbGradCon 2021, including the meeting participant demographics, various digital aspects introduced specifically for a virtual edition of the meeting, and the abstract submission and evaluation process. The abstract evaluation process of AbGradCon 2021 is unique in that all evaluations are done by the peers of the applicants, and as astrobiology is inherently a broad discipline, the abstract evaluation process revealed a number of trends related to multidisciplinarity of the astrobiology field. We believe that meetings like AbGradCon can provide a unique opportunity for students and early career researchers in astrobiology to experience community building, inter- and multidisciplinary collaboration, and career training and would be a welcome sight in other fields as well. We hope that this report provides inspiration and a basic roadmap for organizing future conferences in any field with similar goals.

Abstract:
Two strings x and y are said to be Abelian equivalent if x is a permutation of y, or vice versa. If a string z satisfies z = xy with x and y being Abelian equivalent, then z is said to be an Abelian square. If a string w can be factorized into a sequence v_1,...,v_s of strings such that v_1 ,..., v_{s-1} are all Abelian equivalent and vs is a substring of a permutation of v_1, then w is said to ha…

Two strings x and y are said to be Abelian equivalent if x is a permutation of y, or vice versa. If a string z satisfies z = xy with x and y being Abelian equivalent, then z is said to be an Abelian square. If a string w can be factorized into a sequence v_1,...,v_s of strings such that v_1 ,..., v_{s-1} are all Abelian equivalent and vs is a substring of a permutation of v_1, then w is said to have a regular Abelian period (p,t) where p = |v_1| and t = |v_s|. If a substring w_1[i..i+l-1] of a string w_1 and a substring w_2[j..j+l-1] of another string w_2 are Abelian equivalent, then the substrings are said to be a common Abelian factor of w_1 and w_2 and if the length l is the maximum of such then the substrings are said to be a longest common Abelian factor of w_1 and w_2. We propose efficient algorithms which compute these Abelian regularities using the run length encoding (RLE) of strings. For a given string w of length n whose RLE is of size m, we propose algorithms which compute all Abelian squares occurring in w in O(mn) time, and all regular Abelian periods of w in O(mn) time. For two given strings w_1 and w_2 of total length n and of total RLE size m, we propose an algorithm which computes all longest common Abelian factors in O(m^2n) time.

Using the generalized mean field theory, we have studied the relation among the effective meson masses, the effective meson-nucleon couplings and the equation of state (EOS) in asymmetric nuclear matter. If the effective omega-meson mass becomes smaller at high density, the EOS becomes stiffer. However, if we require that the omega-meson mean field is proportional to the baryon density, the effective omega-nucleon coupling automatically becomes smaller at the same time as the effective omega-meson mass becomes smaller. Consequently, the EOS becomes softer. A similar relation is found for the effective rho-meson mass and the effective rho-nucleon coupling. We have also studied the relation among the effective meson masses, the effective meson-nucleon couplings and a radius R of a neutron star. The R depends somewhat on the value of the effective omega-meson mass and the effective omega-nucleon coupling.

Abstract:
An enhancement of antiprotons produced in p+d reaction in comparison with ones in p+p elementary reaction is investigated.
In the neighborhood of subthreshold energy the enhancement is caused by the difference of available energies for antiproton production. The cross section in p+d reaction, on the other hand, becomes just twice of the one in elementary p+p reaction at the incident energy far…

Under the Hartree approximation, the low-energy effective Lagrangian is derived in the framework of the renormalization group methods. The coefficients are determined in a way where the physical results hardly depend on the value of the cutoff which is conveniently introduced into the theory. It is shown that, to reproduce the empirical data of the nucleus incompressibility, the compressibility of the nuclear matter is favorable to be 250$\sim$350MeV.

The low-energy effective Lagrangian is constructed in the framework of the renormalization group method. The weak tensor and derivative couplings of meson-nucleon interactions may be needed in the low-energy effective theory of mesons and nucleons.

Abstract:
The effects of higher order corrections of ring diagrams for the quark condensate are studied by using the bare vertex Nuclear Schwinger Dyson formalism based on $σ$-$ω$ model. The theory is modified in the framework of the renormalization group methods with arbitrary cut-off $Λ^\prime$. It is found that $K= 300\pm 50$MeV is necessary to account for the empirical values of $K$, $K_c$, and $K_{vs}$, simultaneously, as is in the case of the point-like nucleons. The result is independent on the detail descriptions of the potential of the $σ$-meson self-interaction and is almost independent on the excluded volume of the nucleons.

A mean free path of nucleon moving through nuclear matter with kinetic energy of more than 100MeV is formulated based on the bare vertex nuclear Schwinger-Dyson (BNSD) method in the Walecka model. The self-energy which is derived from the higher order diagrams more than the forth order includes the Feynman part of propagator of energetic nucleon and grows up rapidly as an increase of kinetic energy. To avoid too large growth of these diagrams, meson propagators are modified by introducing some form factors to take account of a internal structure of hadron. It is confirmed that the mean free path calculated by the BNSD method agrees good with experimental data if a reasonable form factor is chosen, i.e., a dipole (quadrupole) type of form factor with a cut-off parameter about 750 MeV $\sim$ 1000 MeV (1200 MeV $\sim$ 1500 MeV).
