Automated Prediction of Breast Cancer Response to Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy from DWI Data
Abstract: Effective surgical planning for breast cancer hinges on accurately predicting pathological complete response (pCR) to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). Diffusion-weighted MRI (DWI) and machine learning offer a non-invasive approach for early pCR assessment. However, most machine-learning models require manual tumor segmentation, a cumbersome and error-prone task. We propose a deep learning model emp… ▽ More

A reduction of the $θ(p_c) = 0$ problem to a conjectured inequality
Abstract: We conjecture a new correlation-like inequality for percolation probabilities and support our conjecture with numerical evidence and a few special cases which we prove. This inequality, if true, implies that there is no percolation at criticality on the Euclidean lattice, for any dimension bigger than one.

A set with no Riesz basis of exponentials
Abstract: We show that there exists a bounded subset of R such that no system of exponentials can be a Riesz basis for the corresponding Hilbert space. An additional result gives a lower bound for the Riesz constant of any putative Riesz basis of the two dimensional disk.

On the probability that a stationary Gaussian process with spectral gap remains non-negative on a long interval
Abstract: Let $f$ be a zero-mean continuous stationary Gaussian process on ${\mathbb R}$ whose spectral measure vanishes in a $δ$-neighborhood of the origin. Then the probability that $f$ stays non-negative on an interval of length $L$ is at most $e^{-cδ^2 L^2}$ with some absolute $c>0$ and the result is sharp without additional assumptions.

Persistence of Gaussian stationary processes: a spectral perspective
Abstract: We study the persistence probability of a centered stationary Gaussian process on $\mathbb{Z}$ or $\mathbb{R}$, that is, its probability to remain positive for a long time. We describe the delicate interplay between this probability and the behavior of the spectral measure of the process near zero and infinity.

Balian-Low type theorems in finite dimensions
Abstract: We formulate and prove finite dimensional analogs for the classical Balian-Low theorem, and for a quantitative Balian-Low type theorem that, in the case of the real line, we obtained in a previous work. Moreover, we show that these results imply their counter-parts on the real line.

Density of Gabor Systems Via the Short Time Fourier Transform
Abstract: We apply a new approach to the study of the density of Gabor systems, and obtain a simple and straightforward proof of Ramanathan and Steger's well known result regarding the density of Gabor frames and Gabor Riesz sequences. Moreover, this point of view allows us to extend this result in several directions. The approach we use was first observed by A. Olevskii and the third author in their study… ▽ More

Flexible Level-1 Consensus Ensuring Stable Social Choice: Analysis and Algorithms
Abstract: Level-1 Consensus is a property of a preference-profile. Intuitively, it means that there exists a preference relation which induces an ordering of all other preferences such that frequent preferences are those that are more similar to it. This is a desirable property, since it enhances the stability of social choice by guaranteeing that there exists a Condorcet winner and it is elected by all sco… ▽ More

Envy-Free Division of Land
Abstract: Classic cake-cutting algorithms enable people with different preferences to divide among them a heterogeneous resource (``cake''), such that the resulting division is fair according to each agent's individual preferences. However, these algorithms either ignore the geometry of the resource altogether, or assume it is one-dimensional. In practice, it is often required to divide multi-dimensional re… ▽ More

The main additions here are: (a) handling multi-dimensional resources of arbitrary shape rather than just rectangles, (b) handling an arbitrary number n of agents rather than just 2 or 3, (c) rewriting most proofs

Envy-Free Cake-Cutting among Families
Abstract: This paper extends the classic cake-cutting problem to a situation in which the "cake" is divided among families. Each piece of cake is owned and used simultaneously by all members of the family. A typical example of such a cake is land. We examine three ways to assess the fairness of such a division, based on the classic no-envy criterion: (a) Average envy-freeness means that for each family, the… ▽ More

Fair Cake-Cutting among Families
Abstract: We study the fair division of a continuous resource, such as a land-estate or a time-interval, among pre-specified groups of agents, such as families. Each family is given a piece of the resource and this piece is used simultaneously by all family members, while different members may have different value functions. Three ways to assess the fairness of such a division are examined. (a) Average Fair… ▽ More

Fair and Square: Cake-Cutting in Two Dimensions
Abstract: We consider the classic problem of fairly dividing a heterogeneous good ("cake") among several agents with different valuations. Classic cake-cutting procedures either allocate each agent a collection of disconnected pieces, or assume that the cake is a one-dimensional interval. In practice, however, the two-dimensional shape of the allotted pieces is important. In particular, when building a hous… ▽ More

A quantitative Balian-Low theorem
Abstract: We study functions generating Gabor Riesz bases on the integer lattice. The classical Balian-Low theorem restricts the simultaneous time and frequency localization of such functions. We obtain a quantitative estimate that extends both this result and other related theorems.

Sampling and interpolation in de Branges spaces with doubling phase
Abstract: The de Branges spaces of entire functions generalise the classical Paley-Wiener space of square summable bandlimited functions. Specifically, the square norm is computed on the real line with respect to weights given by the values of certain entire functions. For the Paley-Wiener space, this can be chosen to be an exponential function where the phase increases linearly. As our main result, we esta… ▽ More

From exact systems to Riesz bases in the Balian-Low theorem
Abstract: We look at the time-frequency localisation of generators of lattice Gabor systems. For a generator of a Riesz basis, this localisation is described by the classical Balian-Low theorem. We establish Balian-Low type theorems for complete and minimal Gabor systems with a frame-type approximation property. These results describe how the best possible localisation of a generator is limited by the deg… ▽ More
