We present new cosmological constraints in a set of motivated extensions of the $Λ$CDM model using the polarization and gravitational lensing measurements from the South Pole Telescope and the Planck CMB temperature observations at large angular scales. In all cosmological scenarios, this CMB data brings the clustering measurements into agreement with the low-redshift probes of large-scale structure. Combining the SPT-3G, SPTpol and Planck large-scale temperature data with the latest full-shape BOSS and BAO measurements, information from the weak lensing and photometric galaxy clustering, and Pantheon supernova set we find a $4σ$ evidence for nonzero neutrino mass, $\sum m_ν=0.22\pm0.06\,{\rm eV}$.Breaking the CMB degeneracies between $\sum m_ν$ and the cosmological parameters by the BOSS data is a major contribution to our neutrino mass measurement. The future CMB data would allow for investigating this measurement. Then we explore the possibility of dynamical dark energy with two model-independent approaches: one introduces a phantom crossing in dark energy equation of state, another provides with a sharp transition in the dark energy evolution. For the combination of all data considered, the both models predict $H_0\simeq68\,{\rm km\,s^{-1}Mpc^{-1}}$ being in a $\sim3σ$ tension with the SH0ES constraint. However, when the local Type Ia supernovae are calibrated by Cepheids, the late Universe scenarios suggest significantly higher values of $H_0$ consistent with SH0ES. Our work draws attention to the supernova absolute magnitude calibration as one of the issues on the way to reconcile the $H_0$ tension.

An impact of the finite size effects on the vacuum free energy density of full QCD with $N_{\rm f}$ massless flavors in the presence of homogeneous (anti-)self-dual Abelian background gluon field is studied. The zero temperature free energy density of the four-dimensional spherical domain is computed as a function of the background field strength $B$ and domain radius $R$. Calculation is performed in the one-loop approximation improved by accounting for mixing of the quark and gluon quasi-zero modes with normal modes, with the use of the $ζ$-function regularization. It is indicated that, under plausible assumption on the character of the mixing, the quantum correction to the free energy density has a minimum as a function of $B$ and $R$. Within the mean field approach to QCD vacuum based on domain wall network representation of the mean field, an existence of the minimum may prevent infinite growth of individual domain, thus protecting the vacuum from the long-range ordering, and, hence, serving as the origin of disorder in the statistical ensemble of domain wall networks, driven by the minimization of the overall free energy of the dominant gauge field configurations.

A promising idea to resolve the long standing Hubble tension is to postulate a new subdominant dark-energy-like component in the pre-recombination Universe which is traditionally termed as the Early Dark Energy (EDE). However, as shown in Refs. \cite{Hill:2020osr,Ivanov:2020ril} the cosmic microwave background (CMB) and large-scale structure (LSS) data impose tight constraints on this proposal. Here, we revisit these strong bounds considering the Planck CMB temperature anisotropy data at large angular scales and the SPTPol polarization and lensing measurements. As advocated in Ref. \cite{Chudaykin:2020acu}, this combined data approach predicts the CMB lensing effect consistent with the $Λ$CDM expectation and allows one to efficiently probe both large and small angular scales. Combining Planck and SPTPol CMB data with the full-shape BOSS likelihood and information from photometric LSS surveys in the EDE analysis we found for the Hubble constant $H_0=69.79\pm0.99\,{\rm km\,s^{-1}Mpc^{-1}}$ and for the EDE fraction $f_{\rm EDE}<0.094\,(2σ)$. These bounds obtained without including a local distance ladder measurement of $H_0$ (SH0ES) alleviate the Hubble tension to a $2.5σ$ level. Including further the SH0ES data we obtain $H_0=71.81\pm1.19\,{\rm km\,s^{-1}Mpc^{-1}}$ and $f_{\rm EDE}=0.088\pm0.034$ in full accordance with SH0ES. We also found that a higher value of $H_0$ does not significantly deteriorate the fit to the LSS data. Overall, the EDE scenario is (though weakly) favoured over $Λ$CDM even after accounting for unconstrained directions in the cosmological parameter space. We conclude that the large-scale Planck temperature and SPTPol polarization measurements along with LSS data do not rule out the EDE model as a resolution of the Hubble tension. This paper underlines the importance of the CMB lensing effect for robust constraints on the EDE scenario.

We study the implications of the Planck temperature power spectrum at low multipoles, $\ell<1000$, and SPTPol data. We show that this combination predicts consistent lensing-induced smoothing of acoustic peaks within $Λ$CDM cosmology and yields the robust predictions of the cosmological parameters. Combining only the Planck large-scale temperature data and the SPTPol polarization and lensing measurements within $Λ$CDM model we found substantially lower values of linear matter density perturbation $σ_8$ which bring the late-time parameter $S_8=σ_8\sqrt{Ω_m/0.3}=0.763\pm0.022$ into accordance with galaxy clustering and weak lensing measurements. It also raises up the Hubble constant $H_0=69.68\pm1.00{\rm \,\,km\,s^{-1}Mpc^{-1}}$ that reduces the Hubble tension to the $2.5σ$ level. We examine the residual tension in the Early Dark Energy (EDE) model which produces the brief energy injection prior to recombination. We implement both the background and perturbation evolutions of the scalar field which potential scales as $V(φ)\propto φ^{2n}$. Including cosmic shear measurements (KiDS, VIKING-450, DES) and local distance-ladder data (SH0ES) to the combined fit we found that EDE completely alleviates the Hubble tension while not degradating the fit to large-scale structure data. The EDE scenario significantly improves the goodness-of-fit by $2.9σ$ in comparison with the concordance $Λ$CDM model. The account for the intermediate-redshift data (the supernova dataset and baryon acoustic oscillation data) fits perfectly to our parameter predictions and indicates the preference of EDE over $Λ$CDM at $3σ$.

The effective potential is calculated within the framework of zeta function regularization for finite spherical four-dimensional region of radius $R$ in Euclidean space-time. In order to obtain the correct strong-field behavior of the effective potential which is determined by the asymptotic freedom, the quasi-zero gluon modes have to be treated beyond one-loop approximation in line with the argumentaion of Leutwyler. Conditions for appearance of the global minimum of the free energy density at finite nonzero values of both field strength and region size are discussed.

Transition form factors $F_{Pγ^*γ^{(*)}}$ of pseudoscalar mesons are studied within the framework of the domain model of confinement, chiral symmetry breaking and hadronization. In this model, the QCD vacuum is described by the statistical ensemble of domain wall networks which represents the almost everywhere homogeneous Abelian (anti-)self-dual gluon field configurations. Calculations of the form factors are performed consistently with mass spectra of light, heavy-light and double-heavy mesons, their weak and strong decay constants. Influence of the nonperturbative intermediate range gluon fields on asymptotic behaviour of pion transition form factor is of particular interest, as it can potentially lead to the growth of $Q^2F_{πγ^*γ}(Q^2)$. It is found that $Q^2F_{πγ^*γ}(Q^2)$ approaches a constant value at asymptotically large $Q^2$. However, this limit differs from the standard factorization bound, though for pion form factor complies with Belle data more likely than with BaBar ones. At the same time the generally accepted factorization bound is shown to be satisfied for the case of the symmetric kinematics, $Q^2F_{Pγ^*γ^*}(Q^2)$. Peculiarities of description of $η$, $η'$ and $η_c$ form factors within the model are discussed in detail.

The presence of MnAs clusters induces in the studied alloy room temperature ferromagnetism with the Curie temperature, TC, around 305 K. The chemical composition of the chalcopyrite matrix controls the geometrical parameters of the clusters inducing different magnetoresistance effects in the crystals. The presence of ferromagnetic clusters in the alloy induces either negative or positive magnetoresistance with different values. The Cd-content allows a change of magnetoresistance sign in our samples from negative (for x = 0.85) to positive (for x = 0.12). The negative magnetoresistance present in the samples with x = 0.85 is observed at temperatures T < 25 K with maximum values of about -32% at T = 1.4 K and B = 13 T, strongly depending on the Mn content, y. The positive magnetoresistance present in the samples with x = 0.12 is observed with maximum values not exceeding 50% at B =13 T and T = 4.3 K, changing with the Mn content, y.

A single domain wall is given by the sine-Gordon kink for the angle between chromomagnetic and chromoelectric components of the gauge field. The domain wall separates the regions with self-dual and anti-self-dual fields. The network of the domain wall defects is introduced as a combination of multiplicative and additive superpositions of kinks. The character of the spectrum and eigenmodes of color-charged fluctuations in the presence of the domain wall network is discussed. The concept of the confinement-deconfinement transition in terms of the ensemble of domain wall networks is outlined. Conditions for the formation of thick domain wall junction during heavy ion collisions are discussed, and the spectrum of color charged quasiparticles inside the trap is evaluated. An important observation is the existence of the critical size $L_c$ of the trap stable against gluon tachyonic modes, which means that deconfinement can occur only in a finite region of space-time in principle. The size $L_c$ is related to the value of gluon condensate $\langle g^2F^2\rangle$.

The one-loop quark contribution to the QCD effective potential for the homogeneous Abelian gluon field in the presence of external strong electromagnetic field is evaluated. The structure of extrema of the potential as a function of the angles between chromoelectric, chromomagnetic and electromagnetic fields is analyzed. In this setup, the electromagnetic field is considered as an external one while the gluon field represents domain structured nonperturbative gluon configurations related to the QCD vacuum in the confinement phase. Two particularly interesting gluon configurations, (anti-)self-dual and crossed orthogonal chromomagnetic and chromoelectric fields, are discussed specifically. Within this simplified framework it is shown that the strong electromagnetic fields can play a catalysing role for a deconfinement transition. At the qualitative level, the present consideration can be seen as a highly simplified study of an impact of the electromagnetic fields generated in relativistic heavy ion collisions on the strongly interacting hadronic matter.

The existence in the physical QCD vacuum of nonzero gluon condensates, such as $<g^2F^2>$, requires dominance of gluon fields with finite mean action density. This naturally allows any real number value for the unit ``topological charge'' $q$ characterising the fields approximating the gluon configurations which should dominate the QCD partition function. If $q$ is an irrational number then the critical values of the $θ$ parameter for which CP is spontaneously broken are dense in $\mathbb{R}$, which provides for a mechanism of resolving the strong CP problem simultaneously with a correct implementation of $U_{\rm A}(1)$ symmetry. We present an explicit realisation of this mechanism within a QCD motivated domain model. Some model independent arguments are given that suggest the relevance of this mechanism also to genuine QCD.

A non-zero CP-violating $θ$ parameter is treated in the domain model which assumes a cluster-like vacuum structure whose units are characterised in particular by a topological charge which is not necessarily an integer number. In the present paper we restrict consideration to rational values of the charge. The model has previously been shown to manifest confinement, spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking and the absence of an axial U(1) Goldstone boson. We find that the specific structure of the minima of the free energy density of the domain ensemble forces a $2π$-periodicity of observables in $θ$ for any number of light quarks, that vacuum doubling occurs at $θ=π$ for any $N_f>1$ and any value of topological charge $q$. These features are in agreement with expectations based on anomalous Ward identities and large $N_c$ effective theories. We find also additional values of $θ$ depending on $q$ for which vacuum doubling occurs.

Quark fluctuations satisfy a chirality violating boundary conditions parametrized by a random chiral angle $α_j$ on the $j-th$ domain. The free energy of an ensemble of $N\to\infty$ domains depends on $\{α_j, j=1... N\}$ through the logarithm of the quark determinant. Its parity odd part is given by the axial anomaly. The anomaly contribution to the free energy suppresses continuous axial U(1) degeneracy in the ground state, leaving only a residual axial Z(2) symmetry. This discrete symmetry and flavour $SU(N_f)_L\times SU(N_f)_R$ chiral symmetry in turn are spontaneously broken with a quark condensate arising due to the asymmetry of the spectrum of Dirac operator. In order to illustrate the splitting between the $η'$ from octet pseudoscalar mesons realised in the domain model, we estimate the masses of light pseudoscalar and vector mesons.

A model for the QCD vacuum based on domain-like background gluon fields has previously been developed and demonstrated to exhibit confinement of quarks and strong correlation of the local chirality of quark modes and duality of the background gluon field. On the boundary of the j-th domain, quark fluctuations satisfy chirality violating boundary conditions parametrized by a chiral angle $α_j$ which is treated as a collective variable. The dependence of the free energy of an ensemble of $N\to\infty$ domains on $\{α_j, j=1... N\}$ is studied. For one massless flavour there are only two degenerate minima ($α_j=0,π$ $\forall j$) due to the contribution of the anomaly to the free energy, which suppresses the continuous U(1) degeneracy. The residual discrete symmetry is spontaneously broken with a quark condensate of $-(238 {\rm{MeV}})^3.$ For $N_f$ massless flavours a continuous $SU(N_f)_L\times SU(N_f)_R$ degeneracy appears, while the $U_A(1)$ direction remains suppressed.

A model for the QCD vacuum based on a domainlike structured background gluon field with definite duality attributed to the domains has been shown elsewhere to give confinement of static quarks, a reasonable value for the topological susceptibility and indications that chiral symmetry is spontaneously broken. In this paper we study in detail the eigenvalue problem for the Dirac operator in such a gluon mean field. A study of the local chirality parameter shows that the lowest nonzero eigenmodes possess a definite mean chirality correlated with the duality of a given domain. A probability distribution of the local chirality qualitatively reproduces histograms seen in lattice simulations.

A qualitative mechanism for the emergence of domain structured background gluon fields due to singularities in gauge field configurations is considered, and a model displaying a type of mean field approximation to the QCD partition function based on this mechanism is formulated. Estimation of the vacuum parameters (gluon condensate, topological susceptibility, string constant and quark condensate) indicates that domain-like structures lead to an area law for the Wilson loop, nonzero topological susceptibility and spontaneous breakdown of chiral symmetry. Gluon and ghost propagators in the presence of domains are calculated explicitly and their analytical properties are discussed. The Fourier transforms of the propagators are entire functions and thus describe confined dynamical fields.

The string constant, condensates and topological susceptibility are estimated within a simplified model of hyperspherical domains with interiors of constant field strength with reasonable values obtained. Propagators of dynamical quarks and gluons have compact support in configuration space, thus having entire Fourier transforms, which gives rise to their confinement.

Asymptotic behavior of quark loops in the presence of the background gluon field for large momentum transfer is discussed.

We examine in non-Abelian gauge theory the heavy quark limit in the presence of the (anti-)self-dual homogeneous background field and see that a confining potential emerges, consistent with the Wilson criterion, although the potential is quadratic and not linear in the quark separation. We examine in non-Abelian gauge theory the heavy quark limit in the presence of the (anti-)self-dual homogeneous background field and see that a confining potential emerges, consistent with the Wilson criterion, although the potential is quadratic and not linear in the quark separation. This builds upon the well-known feature that propagators in such a background field are entire functions. The way in which deconfinement can occur at finite temperature is then studied in the static temporal gauge by calculation of the effective potential at high temperature. Finally we discuss the problems to be surmounted in setting up the calculation of the effective potential nonperturbatively on the lattice.

It is shown that an (anti-)self-dual homogeneous vacuum gluon field appears in a natural way within the problem of calculation of the QCD partition function in the form of Euclidean functional integral with periodic boundary conditions. There is no violation of cluster property within this formulation, nor are parity, color and rotational symmetries broken explicitly. The massless limit of the product of the quark masses and condensates, $m_f \langle \barψ_f ψ_f \rangle$, is calculated to all loop orders. This quantity does not vanish and is proportional to the gluon condensate appearing due to the nonzero strength of the vacuum gluon field. We conclude that the gluon condensate can be considered as an order parameter both for confinement and chiral symmetry breaking.

The model of induced quark currents formulated in our recent paper (Phys. Rev. D51, 176) is developed. The model being a kind of nonlocal extension of the bosonization procedure is based on the hypothesis that the QCD vacuum is realized by the (anti-)self-dual homogeneous gluon field. This vacuum field provides the analytical quark confinement. It is shown that a particular form of nonlocality of the quark and gluon propagators determined by the vacuum field, an interaction of quark spin with the vacuum gluon field and a localization of meson field at the center of masses of two quarks can explain the distinctive features of meson spectrum: Regge trajectories of radial and orbital excitations, mass splitting between pseudoscalar and vector mesons, the asymptotic mass formulas in the heavy quark limit: $M_{Q\bar Q}\to 2m_Q$ for quarkonia and $M_{Q\bar q}\to m_Q$ for heavy-light mesons. With a minimal set of parameters (quark masses, vacuum field strength and the quark-gluon coupling constant) the model describes to within ten percent inaccuracy the masses and weak decay constants of mesons from all qualitatively different regions of the spectrum.
