Pontryagin Maximum Principle for Incommensurate Fractional-Orders Optimal Control Problems
Abstract: We introduce a new optimal control problem where the controlled dynamical system depends on multi-order (incommensurate) fractional differential equations. The cost functional to be maximized is of Bolza type and depends on incommensurate Caputo fractional-orders derivatives. We establish continuity and differentiability of the state solutions with respect to perturbed trajectories. Then, we state… ▽ More

Epidemic Transmission Modeling with Fractional Derivatives and Environmental Pathogens
Abstract: This research presents an advanced fractional-order compartmental model designed to delve into the complexities of COVID-19 transmission dynamics, specifically accounting for the influence of environmental pathogens on disease spread. By enhancing the classical compartmental framework, our model distinctively incorporates the effects of order derivatives and environmental shedding mechanisms on th… ▽ More

Optimal Control Problems Involving Combined Fractional Operators with General Analytic Kernels
Abstract: Fractional optimal control problems via a wide class of fractional operators with a general analytic kernel are introduced. Necessary optimality conditions of Pontryagin type for the considered problem are obtained after proving a Gronwall type inequality as well as results on continuity and differentiability of perturbed trajectories. Moreover, a Mangasarian type sufficient global optimality cond… ▽ More

Weak Pontryagin's Maximum Principle for Optimal Control Problems Involving a General Analytic Kernel
Abstract: We prove a duality relation and an integration by parts formula for fractional operators with a general analytical kernel. Based on these basic results, we are able to prove a new Gronwall's inequality and continuity and differentiability of solutions of control differential equations. This allow us to obtain a weak version of Pontryagin's maximum principle. Moreover, our approach also allow us to… ▽ More

Pontryagin Maximum Principle for Distributed-Order Fractional Systems
Abstract: We consider distributed-order non-local fractional optimal control problems with controls taking values on a closed set and prove a strong necessary optimality condition of Pontryagin type. The possibility that admissible controls are subject to pointwise constraints is new and requires more sophisticated techniques to include a maximality condition. We start by proving results on continuity of so… ▽ More

Mathematical Analysis of a Fractional COVID-19 Model Applied to Wuhan, Spain and Portugal
Abstract: We propose a qualitative analysis of a recent fractional-order COVID-19 model. We start by showing that the model is mathematically and biologically well posed. Then, we give a proof on the global stability of the disease free equilibrium point. Finally, some numerical simulations are performed to ensure stability and convergence of the disease free equilibrium point.

Fractional model of COVID-19 applied to Galicia, Spain and Portugal
Abstract: A fractional compartmental mathematical model for the spread of the COVID-19 disease is proposed. Special focus has been done on the transmissibility of super-spreaders individuals. Numerical simulations are shown for data of Galicia, Spain, and Portugal. For each region, the order of the Caputo derivative takes a different value, that is not close to one, showing the relevance of considering frac… ▽ More

Distributed-Order Non-Local Optimal Control
Abstract: Distributed-order fractional non-local operators have been introduced and studied by Caputo at the end of the 20th century. They generalize fractional order derivatives/integrals in the sense that such operators are defined by a weighted integral of different orders of differentiation over a certain range. The subject of distributed-order non-local derivatives is currently under strong development… ▽ More

Ebola Model and Optimal Control with Vaccination Constraints
Abstract: The Ebola virus disease is a severe viral haemorrhagic fever syndrome caused by Ebola virus. This disease is transmitted by direct contact with the body fluids of an infected person and objects contaminated with virus or infected animals, with a death rate close to 90% in humans. Recently, some mathematical models have been presented to analyse the spread of the 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa.… ▽ More
