Search for the decay $B_s^0\rightarrowηη$

Abstract: We report results from a search for the decay $B_s^0\rightarrowηη$ using 121.4 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected at the $Υ(5S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. We do not observe any signal and set an upper limit on the branching fraction of $14.3\times 10^{-5}$ at $90\%$ confidence level. Search for the Decay $B_s^0 \rightarrow η^\prime η$

Abstract: In the Standard Model (SM) charmless hadronic decays $B_s^0 \rightarrow η^\prime η$ proceed via tree-level $b\to u$ and penguin $b\to s$ transitions. Penguin transitions are sensitive to Beyond-the-Standard-Model (BSM) physics scenarios and could affect the branching fractions and {\it CP} asymmetries in such decays. Measurement of two-particle correlations in hadronic $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions at Belle

Measurements in the $e^+e^-$ collision system, without the complexities introduced by hadron structure in the initial state, can serve as a complementary probe to examine the formation of a ridge signal. The first measurement of two-particle angular correlation functions in high multiplicity $e^+e^-$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=10.52$ GeV is reported. The hadronic $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected by the Belle detector at KEKB are used in this study. Two-particle angular correlation functions are measured over the full azimuth and large pseudorapidity intervals which are defined by either the electron beam axis or the event thrust as a function of charged particle multiplicity. The measurement in the event thrust analysis, with mostly outgoing quark pairs determining the reference axis, is sensitive to the region of additional soft gluon emissions. No significant ridge signal is observed with either coordinates analyses. Near side jet correlations appear to be absent in the thrust axis analysis. The measurements are compared to predictions from various event generators and expected to provide new constraints to the phenomenological models in the low energy regime. △ Less

Abstract: Using a data sample of $772 \times 10^6$ BB pairs collected on the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider, we report the observations of $B^0\to p{\bar p}π^+π^-$ and $B^+ \to p{\bar p}π^+π^0$. The signal yields for these decays are extracted from the recoil mass spectrum of the system recoiling against $\barΛ_{c}^{-}$ baryons in selected $B^-$ candidates. The branching fraction of $B^{-} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}(2790)^{0}$ is measured to be $ (1.1 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.2)\times 10^{-3}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The 90\% credibility level upper limits on ${\cal B}(B^{-} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}^{'0})$ and ${\cal B}(B^{-} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}(2645)^{0})$ are determined to be $6.5\times 10^{-4}$ and $7.9\times 10^{-4}$, respectively. △ Less

Abstract: We report the result for a search for the leptonic decay of $B^+ \to μ^+ \, ν_μ$ using the full Belle data set of 711 fb${}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. In the Standard Model leptonic $B$-meson decays are helicity and CKM suppressed. To maximize sensitivity an inclusive tagging approach is used to reconstruct the second $B$ meson produced in the collision. In the Standard Model leptonic $B$-meson decays are helicity and CKM suppressed. To maximize sensitivity an inclusive tagging approach is used to reconstruct the second $B$ meson produced in the collision. The directional information from this second $B$ meson is used to boost the observed $μ$ into the signal $B$ meson rest-frame, in which the $μ$ has a monochromatic momentum spectrum. Though its momentum is smeared by the experimental resolution, this technique improves the analysis sensitivity considerably. Analyzing the $μ$ momentum spectrum in this frame we find $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to μ^+ \, ν_μ) = \left( 5.3 \pm 2.0 \pm 0.9 \right) \times 10^{-7}$ with a one-sided significance of 2.8 standard deviations over the background-only hypothesis. This translates to a frequentist upper limit of $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to μ^+ \, ν_μ) < 8.6 \times 10^{-7}$ at 90% CL. The experimental spectrum is then used to search for a massive sterile neutrino, $B^+ \to μ^+ \, N$, but no evidence is observed for a sterile neutrino with a mass in a range of 0 - 1.5 GeV. The determined $B^+ \to μ^+ \, ν_μ$ branching fraction limit is further used to constrain the mass and coupling space of the type II and type III two-Higgs-doublet models. △ Less

Observation of a vector charmoniumlike state in $e^+e^- \to D^+_sD_{s1}(2536)^-+c.c.$

In this analysis the tag-side $B$ meson is reconstructed in a semileptonic decay mode and the signal-side $τ$ is reconstructed in a purely leptonic decay. The measured values are $\mathcal{R}(D)= 0.307 \pm 0.037 \pm 0.016$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^*) = 0.283 \pm 0.018 \pm 0.014$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. These results are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions within $0.2$, $1.1$ and $0.8$ standard deviations for $\mathcal{R}(D)$, $\mathcal{R}(D^*)$ and their combination, respectively. This work constitutes the most precise measurements of $\mathcal{R}(D)$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^*)$ performed to date as well as the first result for $\mathcal{R}(D)$ based on a semileptonic tagging method. △ Less

Azimuthal asymmetries of back-to-back $π^\pm-(π^0,η,π^\pm)$ pairs in $e^+e^-$ annihilation

Abstract: This work reports the first observation of azimuthal asymmetries around the thrust axis in $e^+e^-$ annihilation of pairs of back-to-back charged pions in one hemisphere, and $π^0$ and $η$ mesons in the opposite hemisphere. This is the first measurement of the explicit transverse-momentum dependence of the Collins fragmentation function from Belle data. Abstract: We present the first model-independent measurement of the CKM unitarity triangle angle $φ_3$ using $B^{\pm}\to D(K_{\rm S}^0π^+π^-π^0)K^{\pm}$ decays, where $D$ indicates either a $D^{0}$ or $\overline{D}^{0}$ meson. Measurements of the strong-phase difference of the $D \to K_{\rm S}^0π^+π^-π^0$ amplitude obtained from CLEO-c data are used as input. This analysis is based on the full Belle data se… ▽ More We present the first model-independent measurement of the CKM unitarity triangle angle $φ_3$ using $B^{\pm}\to D(K_{\rm S}^0π^+π^-π^0)K^{\pm}$ decays, where $D$ indicates either a $D^{0}$ or $\overline{D}^{0}$ meson. Measurements of the strong-phase difference of the $D \to K_{\rm S}^0π^+π^-π^0$ amplitude obtained from CLEO-c data are used as input. This analysis is based on the full Belle data set of $772\times 10^{6}$ $B\overline{B}$ events collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. We obtain $φ_3 = (5.7~^{+10.2}_{-8.8} \pm 3.5 \pm 5.7)^{\circ}$ and the suppressed amplitude ratio $r_{B} = 0.323 \pm 0.147 \pm 0.023 \pm 0.051$. Here the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is the experimental systematic, and the third is due to the precision of the strong-phase parameters measured from CLEO-c data. The 95% confidence interval on $φ_3$ is $(-29.7,~109.5)^{\circ}$, which is consistent with the current world average. △ Less

Abstract: We present the first measurements of branching fractions of rare tau-lepton decays, $τ^- \rightarrow π^- ν_τ \ell^+ \ell^-$ ($\ell = e$ or $μ$), using a data sample corresponding to 562 fb$^{-1}$ collected at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. The partial branching fraction determined by the structure-dependent mechanisms mediated by either a vector or an axial-vector current for the mass region $M_{πe e}>1.05$ GeV/$c^2$ is measured to be $\mathcal{B}(τ^-\rightarrow π^- ν_τe^+ e^-)[M_{π^- e^+ e^-}>1.05~{\rm GeV}/c^2] = (5.90 \pm 0.53 \pm 0.85 \pm 0.11) \times 10^{-6}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is due to the model dependence. In the full phase space, due to the different detection efficiencies for the structure-dependent mechanisms mediated by axial-vector and vector currents, the branching fraction varies from $\mathcal{B}_{A}(τ^-\rightarrow π^- ν_τe^+ e^-) = (1.46 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.21) \times 10^{-5}$ to $\mathcal{B}_{V}(τ^-\rightarrow π^- ν_τe^+ e^-) = (3.01 \pm 0.27 \pm 0.43) \times 10^{-5}$, respectively. Abstract: Using data samples of $e^+e^-$ collisions collected at the $Υ(1S)$, $Υ(2S)$, and $Υ(3S)$ resonances with the Belle detector, we search for the three-body decay of the $Ω(2012)$ baryon to $KπΞ$. This decay is predicted to dominate for models describing the $Ω(2012)$ as a $KΞ(1530)$ molecule. We measure the absolute branching fraction of $\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}^{+}$ with the $Ξ_c^+$ recoiling against $\barΛ_c^-$ in $\bar{B}^0$ decays resulting in ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}^{+}) = [1.16 \pm 0.42(\rm stat.) \pm 0.15(\rm syst.)] \times 10^{-3}$. We then measure the product branching fractions ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛ_c^- Ξ_c^+){\cal B}(Ξ_c^+ \to Ξ^- π^+ π^+)$ and ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛ_c^- Ξ_c^+){\cal B}(Ξ_c^+ \to p K^- π^+)$. Dividing these product branching fractions by $\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛ_{c}^{-} Ξ_{c}^{+}$ yields: ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^+ \to Ξ^- π^+ π^+) = [2.86 \pm 1.21(\rm stat.) \pm 0.38(\rm syst.)]\%$ and ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^+ \to p K^- π^+)=[0.45 \pm 0.21(\rm stat.) \pm 0.07(\rm syst.)]\%$. Our result for ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^+ \to Ξ^- π^+ π^+)$ can be combined with $Ξ_c^+$ branching fractions measured relative to $Ξ_c^+ \to Ξ^- π^+ π^+$ to set the absolute scale for many $Ξ_c^+$ branching fractions. △ Less

The measured values are $\mathcal{R}(D)= 0.307 \pm 0.037 \pm 0.016$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^{\ast})= 0.283 \pm 0.018 \pm 0.014$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. These results are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions within $0.2$ and $1.1$ standard deviations, respectively, while their combination agrees with the Standard Model predictions within $1.2$ standard deviations. △ Less

Evidence for $B^+ \rightarrow h_c K^+$ and observation of $η_c(2S) \to p \bar{p} π^+ π^-$

Abstract: A search for the decays $B^+ \rightarrow h_c K^+$ and $B^0 \rightarrow h_c K_S^0$ is performed. Evidence for the decay $B^+ \rightarrow h_c K^+$ is found; its significance is $4.8σ$. No evidence is found for $B^0 \rightarrow h_c K_S^0$. The branching fraction for $B^+ \rightarrow h_c K^+$ is measured to be $(3.7^{+1.0}_{-0.9}{}^{+0.8}_{-0.8}) \times 10^{-5}$; the upper limit for the… ▽ More A search for the decays $B^+ \rightarrow h_c K^+$ and $B^0 \rightarrow h_c K_S^0$ is performed. In addition, a study of the $p \bar{p} π^+ π^-$ invariant mass distribution in the channel $B^+ \to (p \bar{p} π^+ π^-) K^+$ results in the first observation of the decay $η_c(2S) \to p \bar{p} π^+ π^-$ with $12.1σ$ significance. Abstract: We report the first measurement of the $D^{\ast -}$ meson polarization in the decay $B^0 \to D^{*-} τ^+ν_τ$ using the full data sample of 772$\times 10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs recorded with the Belle detector at the KEKB electron-positron collider. Transverse momentum dependent production cross sections of charged pions, kaons and protons produced in inclusive $e^+e^-$ annihilation at $\sqrt{s}=$ 10.58 GeV

Abstract: We report measurements of the production cross sections of charged pions, kaons, and protons as a function of fractional energy, the event-shape variable called thrust, and the transverse momentum with respect to the thrust axis. These measurements access the transverse momenta created in the fragmentation process, which are of critical importance to the understanding of any transverse momentum dependent distribution and fragmentation functions. The low transverse momentum part of the cross sections can be well described by Gaussians in transverse momentum as is generally assumed but the fractional-energy dependence is non-trivial and different hadron types have varying Gaussian widths. The width of these Gaussians decreases with thrust and shows an initially rising, then decreasing fractional-energy dependence. The widths for pions and kaons are comparable within uncertainties, while those for protons are significantly narrower. These single-hadron cross sections and Gaussian widths are obtained from a $558\,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ data sample collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. △ Less

Abstract: We report the results of a search for the $B \to Y(4260) K, ~Y(4260)\to J/ψπ^+π^-$ decays. This study is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 711~fb$^{-1}$, collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. First measurements of absolute branching fractions of $Ξ_c^0$ at Belle

Abstract: We present the first measurements of absolute branching fractions of $Ξ_c^0$ decays into $Ξ^- π^+$, $ΛK^- π^+$, and $p K^- K^- π^+$ final states. We first measure the absolute branching fraction for $B^- \to \barΛ_c^- Ξ_c^0$ using a missing-mass technique; the result is ${\cal B}(B^- \to \barΛ_c^- Ξ_c^0) = (9.51 \pm 2.10 \pm 0.88) \times 10^{-4}$. We subsequently measure the product branching fractions ${\cal B}(B^- \to \barΛ_c^- Ξ_c^0){\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+)$, ${\cal B}( B^- \to \barΛ_c^- Ξ_c^0) {\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to ΛK^- π^+)$, and ${\cal B}( B^- \to \barΛ_c^- Ξ_c^0) {\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to p K^- K^- π^+)$ with improved precision. Dividing these product branching fractions by the result for $B^- \to \barΛ_c^- Ξ_c^0$ yields the following branching fractions: ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+)= (1.80 \pm 0.50 \pm 0.14)\%$, ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to ΛK^- π^+)=(1.17 \pm 0.37 \pm 0.09)\%$, and ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to p K^- K^- π^+)=(0.58 \pm 0.23 \pm 0.05)\%.$ For the above branching fractions, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. Our result for ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+)$ can be combined with $Ξ_c^0$ branching fractions measured relative to $Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+$ to yield other absolute $Ξ_c^0$ branching fractions. △ Less

Signal candidates are reconstructed for photon energies $E_γ$ larger than $1 \, \mathrm{GeV}$ using a novel multivariate tagging algorithm. The novel algorithm fully reconstructs the second $B$ meson produced in the collision using hadronic modes and was specifically trained to recognize the signal signature in combination with hadronic tag-side $B$ meson decays. This approach greatly enhances the performance. Background processes that can mimic this signature, mainly charmless semileptonic decays and continuum processes, are suppressed using multivariate methods. The number of signal candidates is determined by analyzing the missing mass squared distribution as inferred from the signal side particles and the kinematic properties of the tag-side $B$ meson. No significant excess over the background-only hypothesis is observed and upper limits on the partial branching fraction $ Δ\mathcal{B} $ with $E_γ> 1 \, \mathrm{GeV}$ individually for electron and muon final states as well as for the average branching fraction of both lepton final states are reported. We find a Bayesian upper limit of $Δ\mathcal{B}( B^{+} \to \ell^{\, +} ν_{\ell} γ) < 3.0 \times 10^{-6}$ at 90% CL and also report an upper limit on the first inverse moment of the light-cone distribution amplitude of the $B$ meson of $λ_B$ at 90% CL. △ Less

Abstract: We report a measurement of time-dependent $CP$ violation in $B^0 \to K^0_S π^0 π^0$ decays using a data sample of $772 \times 10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected by the Belle experiment runnin g at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance at the KEKB $e^+ e^-$ collider. This decay proceeds mainly via a $b\to sd\bar{d}$ "penguin" amplitude. We set limits on the branching fractions of such processes in the mass ranges $M_{A^{0}} <$ 8.97 $\textrm{GeV/}\textit{c}^{2}$ and $M_χ <$ 4.44 $\textrm{GeV/}\textit{c}^{2}$. We then use the limits on the off-shell process to set competitive limits on WIMP-nucleon scattering in the WIMP mass range below 5 $\textrm{GeV/}\textit{c}^{2}$. △ Less

Two form factor parameterizations, originally conceived by the Caprini-Lellouch-Neubert (CLN) and the Boyd, Grinstein and Lebed (BGL) groups, are used to extract the product $\mathcal{F}(1)η_{\rm EW}|V_{cb}|$ and the decay form factors, where $\mathcal{F}(1)$ is the normalization factor and $η_{\rm EW}$ is a small electroweak correction. In the CLN parameterization we find $\mathcal{F}(1)η_{\rm EW}|V_{cb}| = (35.06 \pm 0.15 \pm 0.56) \times 10^{-3}$, $ρ^{2}=1.106 \pm 0.031 \pm 0.007$, $R_{1}(1)=1.229 \pm 0.028 \pm 0.009$, $R_{2}(1)=0.852 \pm 0.021 \pm 0.006$. For the BGL parameterization we obtain $\mathcal{F}(1)η_{\rm EW}|V_{cb}|= (34.93 \pm 0.23 \pm 0.59)\times 10^{-3}$, which is consistent with the World Average when correcting for $\mathcal{F}(1)η_{\rm EW}$. The branching fraction of $B^{0} \to D^{*-} \ell^+ ν_\ell$ is measured to be $\mathcal{B}(B^{0}\rightarrow D^{*-}\ell^{+}ν_{\ell}) = (4.90 \pm 0.02 \pm 0.16)\%$. We also present a new test of lepton flavor universality violation in semileptonic $B$ decays, $\frac{{\cal B }(B^0 \to D^{*-} e^+ ν)}{{\cal B }(B^0 \to D^{*-} μ^+ ν)} = 1.01 \pm 0.01 \pm 0.03~$. The errors correspond to the statistical and systematic uncertainties respectively. This is the most precise measurement of $\mathcal{F}(1)η_{\rm EW}|V_{cb}|$ and form factors to date and the first experimental study of the BGL form factor parameterization in an experimental measurement. △ Less

Belle II collected its first collisions in 2018, and is expected to operate for the next decade. It is anticipated to collect 50/ab of collision data over its lifetime. This book is the outcome of a joint effort of Belle II collaborators and theorists through the Belle II theory interface platform (B2TiP), an effort that commenced in 2014. The aim of B2TiP was to elucidate the potential impacts of the Belle II program, which includes a wide scope of physics topics: B physics, charm, tau, quarkonium, electroweak precision measurements and dark sector searches. It is composed of nine working groups (WGs), which are coordinated by teams of theorist and experimentalists conveners: Semileptonic and leptonic B decays, Radiative and Electroweak penguins, phi_1 and phi_2 (time-dependent CP violation) measurements, phi_3 measurements, Charmless hadronic B decay, Charm, Quarkonium(like), tau and low-multiplicity processes, new physics and global fit analyses. This book highlights "golden- and silver-channels", i.e. those that would have the highest potential impact in the field. Theorists scrutinised the role of those measurements and estimated the respective theoretical uncertainties, achievable now as well as prospects for the future. Experimentalists investigated the expected improvements with the large dataset expected from Belle II, taking into account improved performance from the upgraded detector. △ Less

Using a sum-of-exclusive technique with invariant $X_s$ mass up to 2.8~GeV/$c^2$, we obtain $Δ_{0-} = \bigl[-0.48 \pm 1.49 {\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.97 {\rm (syst.)} \pm 1.15 {(f_{+-}/f_{00})}\bigr]$\% and $ΔA_{CP} = \bigl[+3.69 \pm 2.65 {\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.76{\rm (syst.)}\bigr]$\%, where the last uncertainty for $Δ_{0-}$ is due to the uncertainty on the production ratio of $B^+B^-$ to $B^0\bar{B}^0$ in $Υ(4S)$ decays. The measured value of $Δ_{0-}$ is consistent with zero, allowing us to constrain the resolved photon contribution in the $B \to X_s γ$, and improve the branching fraction prediction. The result for $ΔA_{CP}$ is consistent with the prediction of the SM. We also measure the direct $CP$ asymmetries for charged and neutral $B \to X_s γ$ decays. Search for the lepton-flavor-violating decay $B^{0}\to K^{\ast 0} μ^{\pm} e^{\mp}$

Abstract: We have searched for the lepton-flavor-violating decay $B^{0}\to K^{\ast 0} μ^{\pm} e^{\mp}$ using a data sample of 711 $fb^{-1}$ that contains $772 \times 10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs. The data were collected near the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. No signals were observed, and we set 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fr… ▽ More We have searched for the lepton-flavor-violating decay $B^{0}\to K^{\ast 0} μ^{\pm} e^{\mp}$ using a data sample of 711 $fb^{-1}$ that contains $772 \times 10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs. Observation of $Υ(2S)\toγη_{b}(1S)$ decay

Abstract: We report the observation of $Υ(2S)\toγη_{b}(1S)$ decay based on analysis of the inclusive photon spectrum of $24.7$ fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+ e^-$ collisions at the $Υ(2S)$ center-of-mass energy collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. We measure a branching fraction of $\mathcal{B}(Υ(2S)\toγη_{b}(1S))=(6.1^{+0.6+0.9}_{-0.7-0.6})\times 10^{-4}$, and derive an $η_{b}(1S)$ mass of $9394.8^{+2.7+4.5}_{-3.1-2.7}$ MeV/$c^{2}$, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Evidence of a structure in $\bar{K}^{0} Λ_{c}^{+}$ consistent with a charged $Ξ_c(2930)^{+}$, and updated measurement of $\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{K}^{0} Λ_{c}^{+} \barΛ_{c}^{-}$ at Belle

Abstract: We report evidence for the charged charmed-strange baryon $Ξ_{c}(2930)^+$ with a signal significance of 3.9$σ$ with systematic errors included. The charged $Ξ_{c}(2930)^+$ is found in its decay to $K_{S}^{0} Λ_{c}^+$ in the substructure of $\bar{B}^{0} \to K^{0}_{S} Λ_{c}^{+} \barΛ_{c}^{-}$ decays. We also measure $\cal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{K}^{0} Λ_{c}^{+} \barΛ_{c}^{-}) = [3.99 \pm 0.76(\rm stat.) \pm 0.51(\rm syst.)] \times 10^{-4}$ with greater precision than previous experiments, and present the results of a search for the charmonium-like state $Y(4660)$ and its spin partner, $Y_η$, in the $Λ_{c}^{+}\barΛ_{c}^{-}$ invariant mass spectrum. No clear signals of the $Y(4660)$ or $Y_η$ are observed and the 90\% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their production rates are determined. We also investigate the energy dependence of the $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-π^0χ_{bJ}$ cross section, but we cannot determine whether the contributions are from the $Υ(10860)$ and $Υ(11020)$ resonances or non-resonant continuum processes. The signals for $e^+e^-\to φχ_{bJ}$ are not significant, and the upper limits of the Born cross sections at the 90\% confidence level are $0.7$ and $1.0$~pb for $e^+e^-\to φχ_{b1}$ and $φχ_{b2}$, respectively, for center-of-mass energies from 10.96 to 11.05~GeV. △ Less

Observation of an excited $Ω^-$ baryon

Abstract: Using data recorded with the Belle detector, we observe a new excited hyperon, an $Ω^{*-}$ candidate decaying into $Ξ^0K^-$ and $Ξ^-K^0_S$ with a mass of $2012.4\pm0.7\ {\rm (stat)\pm\ 0.6\ (\rm syst)}\ {\rm MeV}/c^2$ and a width of $Γ=6.4^{+2.5}_{-2.0}\ {\rm(stat)}\pm1.6\ {\rm(syst)}\ {\rm MeV}$. The $Ω^{*-}$ is seen primarily in $Υ(1S), Υ(2S)$, and $Υ(3S)$ decays. Abstract: We report the measurement of gamma gamma to eta_c(1S), eta_c(2S) to eta' pi+ pi- with eta' decays to gamma rho and eta pi+ pi- using 941 fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. The eta_c(1S) mass and width are measured to be M = [2984.6\pm0.7 (stat.)\pm2.2 (syst.)] MeV/c^{2} and Γ= [30.8^{+2.3}_{-2.2}~(stat.) \pm 2.5~(syst.)] MeV, respectively. First observation of eta_c(2S) to eta' pi+ pi- with a significance of 5.5sigma including systematic error is obtained, and the eta_c(2S) mass is measured to be M = [3635.1\pm3.7~(stat.)\pm2.9~(syst.)] MeV/c^{2}. The products of the two-photon decay width and branching fraction (B) of decays to eta'pi+ pi- are determined to be Γ_{gamma gamma}B = [65.4\pm2.6~(stat.)\pm6.9~(syst.)] eV for eta_c(1S) and [5.6^{+1.2}_{-1.1}~(stat.)\pm1.1~(syst.)] eV for eta_c(2S). A new decay mode for the eta_c(1S) to eta'f_0(2080) with f_0(2080) to pi+ pi- is observed with a statistical significance of 20sigma. The f_0(2080) mass and width are determined to be M = [2083^{+63}_{-66}~(stat.)\pm 32~(syst.)] MeV/c^{2} and Γ= [178^{+60}_{-178}~(stat.) \pm 55~(syst.)] MeV. The cross sections for gamma gamma to eta' pi+ pi- and eta'f_{2}(1270) are measured for the first time. △ Less

The analysis is performed with a combination of the final data sets of the \babar\ and Belle experiments containing $471 \times 10^{6}$ and… ▽ More We report measurements of $\sin{2β}$ and $\cos{2β}$ from a time-dependent Dalitz plot analysis of $B^{0} \to D^{(*)} h^{0}$ with $D \to K_{S}^{0} π^{+} π^{-}$ decays, where the light unflavored and neutral hadron $h^{0}$ is a $π^{0}$, $η$, or $ω$ meson. The analysis is performed with a combination of the final data sets of the \babar\ and Belle experiments containing $471 \times 10^{6}$ and $772 \times 10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $Υ\left(4S\right)$ resonance at the asymmetric-energy B factories PEP-II at SLAC and KEKB at KEK, respectively. We measure $\sin{2β} = 0.80 \pm 0.14 \,(\rm{stat.}) \pm 0.06 \,(\rm{syst.}) \pm 0.03 \,(\rm{model})$ and $\cos{2β} = 0.91 \pm 0.22 \,(\rm{stat.}) \pm 0.09 \,(\rm{syst.}) \pm 0.07 \,(\rm{model})$. The result for the direct measurement of the angle is $β= \left( 22.5 \pm 4.4 \,(\rm{stat.}) \pm 1.2 \,(\rm{syst.}) \pm 0.6 \,(\rm{model}) \right)^{\circ}$. The last quoted uncertainties are due to the composition of the $D^{0} \to K_{S}^{0} π^{+} π^{-}$ decay amplitude model, which is newly established by a Dalitz plot amplitude analysis of a high-statistics $e^{+}e^{-} \to c\bar{c}$ data sample as part of this analysis. We find the first evidence for $\cos2β>0$ at the level of $3.7$ standard deviations. The measurement excludes the trigonometric multifold solution $π/2 - β= (68.1 \pm 0.7)^{\circ}$ at the level of $7.3$ standard deviations and therefore resolves an ambiguity in the determination of the apex of the CKM Unitarity Triangle. The hypothesis of $β= 0^{\circ}$ is ruled out at the level of $5.1$ standard deviations, and thus CP violation is observed in $B^{0} \to D^{(*)} h^{0}$ decays. △ Less

The results of the measurement are $\sin{2β} = 0.80 \pm 0.14 \,(\rm{stat.}) \pm 0.06 \,(\rm{syst.}) \pm 0.03 \,(\rm{model})$ and $\cos{2β} = 0.91 \pm 0.22 \,(\rm{stat.}) \pm 0.09 \,(\rm{syst.}) \pm 0.07 \,(\rm{model})$. The result for the direct measurement of the angle $β$ of the CKM Unitarity Triangle is $β= \left( 22.5 \pm 4.4 \,(\rm{stat.}) \pm 1.2 \,(\rm{syst.}) \pm 0.6 \,(\rm{model}) \right)^{\circ}$. The quoted model uncertainties are due to the composition of the $D^{0} \to K_{S}^{0} π^{+} π^{-}$ decay amplitude model, which is newly established by performing a Dalitz plot amplitude analysis using a high-statistics $e^{+}e^{-} \to c\bar{c}$ data sample. CP violation is observed in $B^{0} \to D^{(*)} h^{0}$ decays at the level of $5.1$ standard deviations. The significance for $\cos{2β}>0$ is $3.7$ standard deviations. The trigonometric multifold solution $π/2 - β= (68.1 \pm 0.7)^{\circ}$ is excluded at the level of $7.3$ standard deviations. The measurement resolves an ambiguity in the determination of the apex of the CKM Unitarity Triangle. △ Less
