Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) play a crucial role in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) by facilitating communication between vehicles and infrastructure. This communication aims to enhance road safety, improve traffic efficiency, and enhance passenger comfort. The secure and reliable exchange of information is paramount to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data, while the authentication of vehicles and messages is essential to prevent unauthorized access and malicious activities. This survey paper presents a comprehensive analysis of existing authentication mechanisms proposed for cluster-based VANETs. The strengths, weaknesses, and suitability of these mechanisms for various scenarios are carefully examined. Additionally, the integration of secure key management techniques is discussed to enhance the overall authentication process. Cluster-based VANETs are formed by dividing the network into smaller groups or clusters, with designated cluster heads comprising one or more vehicles. Furthermore, this paper identifies gaps in the existing literature through an exploration of previous surveys. Several schemes based on different methods are critically evaluated, considering factors such as throughput, detection rate, security, packet delivery ratio, and end-to-end delay. To provide optimal solutions for authentication in cluster-based VANETs, this paper highlights AI- and ML-based routing-based schemes. These approaches leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to enhance authentication within the cluster-based VANET network. Finally, this paper explores the open research challenges that exist in the realm of authentication for cluster-based Vehicular Adhoc Networks, shedding light on areas that require further investigation and development.

Dialogue generation is an important NLP task fraught with many challenges. The challenges become more daunting for low-resource African languages. To enable the creation of dialogue agents for African languages, we contribute the first high-quality dialogue datasets for 6 African languages: Swahili, Wolof, Hausa, Nigerian Pidgin English, Kinyarwanda & Yorùbá. These datasets consist of 1,500 turns each, which we translate from a portion of the English multi-domain MultiWOZ dataset. Subsequently, we investigate & analyze the effectiveness of modelling through transfer learning by utilziing state-of-the-art (SoTA) deep monolingual models: DialoGPT and BlenderBot. We compare the models with a simple seq2seq baseline using perplexity. Besides this, we conduct human evaluation of single-turn conversations by using majority votes and measure inter-annotator agreement (IAA). We find that the hypothesis that deep monolingual models learn some abstractions that generalize across languages holds. We observe human-like conversations, to different degrees, in 5 out of the 6 languages. The language with the most transferable properties is the Nigerian Pidgin English, with a human-likeness score of 78.1%, of which 34.4% are unanimous. We freely provide the datasets and host the model checkpoints/demos on the HuggingFace hub for public access.

Abstract:
We reformulate the notion of uncertainty of pairs of unitary operators within the context of guessing games and derive an entropic uncertainty relation for a pair of such operators. We show how distinguishable operators are compatible while maximal incompatibility of unitary operators can be connected to bases for some subspace of operators which are mutually unbiased.

Analogous to the notion of mutually unbiased bases for Hilbert spaces, we consider mutually unbiased unitary bases (MUUB) for the space of operators, $M(d, \mathbb{C})$, acting on such Hilbert spaces. The notion of MUUB reflects the equiprobable guesses of unitary in one bases of $M(d, \mathbb{C})$ when estimating a unitary operator in another. Though, for prime dimension $d$, the maximal number of MUUBs is known to be $d^{2}-1$, there is no known recipe for constructing them, assuming they exist. However, one can always construct a minimum of three MUUBs, and the maximal number is approached for very large values of $d$. MUUBs can also exists for some $d$-dimensional subspace of $M(d, \mathbb{C})$ with the maximal number being $d$.

Powerful generative adversarial networks (GAN) have been developed to automatically synthesize realistic images from text. However, most existing tasks are limited to generating simple images such as flowers from captions. In this work, we extend this problem to the less addressed domain of face generation from fine-grained textual descriptions of face, e.g., "A person has curly hair, oval face, and mustache". We are motivated by the potential of automated face generation to impact and assist critical tasks such as criminal face reconstruction. Since current datasets for the task are either very small or do not contain captions, we generate captions for images in the CelebA dataset by creating an algorithm to automatically convert a list of attributes to a set of captions. We then model the highly multi-modal problem of text to face generation as learning the conditional distribution of faces (conditioned on text) in same latent space. We utilize the current state-of-the-art GAN (DC-GAN with GAN-CLS loss) for learning conditional multi-modality. The presence of more fine-grained details and variable length of the captions makes the problem easier for a user but more difficult to handle compared to the other text-to-image tasks. We flipped the labels for real and fake images and added noise in discriminator. Generated images for diverse textual descriptions show promising results. In the end, we show how the widely used inceptions score is not a good metric to evaluate the performance of generative models used for synthesizing faces from text.

We note an obvious isomorphism between the vector spaces and beyond that, we define a relevant monoid structure for $\mathcal{H}_d$ isomorphic to one for the subspace of $M (d,\mathbb{C})$. This provides us not only with the maximal number of such MUUBs, but also a recipe for its construction.

We consider the notion of unitary transformations forming bases for subspaces of $M(d,\mathbb{C})$ such that the square of Hilbert-Schmidt inner product of matrices from the differing bases is a constant. Moving from the qubit case, weconstruct the maximal number of such bases for the 4 and 2 dimensional subspaces while proving the nonexistence of such a construction for the 3 dimensional case. Extending this to higher dimensions, we commit to such a construct for the case of qutrits and provide evidence for the existence of such unitaries for prime dimensional quantum systems. Focusing on the qubit case, we show that the average fidelity for estimating any of such a transformation is equal to the case for estimating a completely unknown unitary from $\text{SU}(2)$. This is then followed by a quick application for such unitaries in a quantum cryptographic setup.

We draw motivation from recent experimental studies and present a comprehensive study of magnetothermoelectric transport in a graphene monolayer within the linear response regime. We employ the modified Kubo formalism developed for thermal transport in a magnetic field. Thermopower as well as thermal conductivity as a function of the gate voltage of a graphene monolayer in the presence of a magnetic field perpendicular to the graphene plane is determined for low magnetic fields (~1 Tesla) as well as high fields (~8 Tesla). We include the effects of screened charged impurities on thermal transport. We find good, qualitative as well as quantitative, agreement with recent experimental work on the subject. In addition, in order to analyze the effects of modulation, which can be induced by various means, on the thermal transport in graphene, we evaluate the thermal transport coefficients for a graphene monolayer subjected to a periodic electric modulation in a magnetic field. The results are presented as a function of the magnetic field and the gate voltage.

We have performed a detailed investigation of the electrical properties of a graphene monolayer which is modulated by a weak one dimensional periodic potential in the presence of a perpendicular magnetic field. The periodic modulation broadens the Landau Levels into bands which oscillate with B. The electronic conduction in this system can take place through either diffusive scattering or collisional scattering off impurities. Both these contributions to electronic transport are taken into account in this work. In addition to the appearance of commensurability oscillations in both the collisional and diffusive contributions, we find that Hall resistance also exhibits commensurability oscillations. Furthermore, the period and amplitude of these commensurability oscillations in the transport parameters and how they are affected by temperature are also discussed in this work.

Theoretical investigation of thermodynamic properties of electrically modulated monolayer graphene in the presence of a perpendicular magnetic field B is presented. This work is aimed at determining the modulation induced effects on the thermodynamic properties of electrically modulated graphene. The results obtained are compared with those of the conventional 2DEG. The one-dimensional periodic potential due to electric modulation lifts the degeneracy of the Landau Levels and converts them into bands whose width oscillates as a function of B. We find Weiss type oscillations for small values of B and dHvA type oscillations at larger values values of $B$. We find that the modulation induced effects on the thermodynamic properties are enhanced and less damped with temperature in graphene compared with conventional 2DEG system.
