Abstract:
We derive the Lie point symmetries for the MIT Bag Model for quark stars in relativistic astrophysics. Four cases of reduction arise; three cases of specific values of the measure of the anisotropy variation, and one general case, which we postulate as a specific relationship between the two gravitational potentials. We demonstrate the applicability of the model by generating two closed form solut…

We derive the Lie point symmetries for the MIT Bag Model for quark stars in relativistic astrophysics. Four cases of reduction arise; three cases of specific values of the measure of the anisotropy variation, and one general case, which we postulate as a specific relationship between the two gravitational potentials. We demonstrate the applicability of the model by generating two closed form solutions that satisfy the master gravitational equation and we match the interior geometries of the gravitating hyperspheres with the external solution given by the Reissner-Nordström metric at the stellar boundary. Lastly, we produce a general class of solutions that are attainable for smooth and continuous functions and generate two exact solutions using this model.

Abstract:
In this paper we excavate, for the first time, the most general class of conformal Killing vectors, that lies in the two dimensional subspace described by the null and radial co-ordinates, that are admitted by the generalised Vaidya geometry. Subsequently we find the most general class of generalised Vaidya mass functions that give rise to such conformal symmetry. From our analysis it is clear tha…

From our analysis it is clear that why some well known subclasses of generalised Vaidya geometry, like pure Vaidya or charged Vaidya solutions, admit only homothetic Killing vectors but no proper conformal Killing vectors with non constant conformal factors. We also study the gravitational collapse of generalised Vaidya spacetimes that posses proper conformal symmetry to show that if the central singularity is naked then in the vicinity of the central singularity the spacetime becomes almost self similar. This study definitely sheds new light on the geometrical properties of generalised Vaidya spacetimes.

We systematically analyze the nonlinear partial differential equation that determines the behaviour of a bounded radiating spherical mass in general relativity. Four categories of solution are possible. These are identified in terms of restrictions on the gravitational potentials. We systematically analyze the nonlinear partial differential equation that determines the behaviour of a bounded radiating spherical mass in general relativity. Four categories of solution are possible. These are identified in terms of restrictions on the gravitational potentials. One category of solution can be related to the horizon function transformation which was recently introduced. A Lie symmetry analysis of the resulting Riccati equation shows that several new classes of exact solutions are possible. The relationship between the horizon function, Euclidean star models and other earlier investigations is clarified.

We analyze the general model of a radiating star in general relativity. A group analysis of the under determined, nonlinear partial differential equation governing the model's gravitational potentials is performed. This analysis is an extension of previous group analyses carried out and produces new group invariant solutions. We find that the gravitational potentials depend on exponential functions owing to the choice of the Lie symmetry generator. The fundamental boundary equation to be solved is in general a Riccati equation. Several new exact families of solutions to the boundary condition are generated. Earlier models of Euclidean stars and generalized Euclidean stellar models are regained as special cases. Linear equations of state can be found for shear-free and shearing spacetimes.
