Search for the Decay $B_s^0 \rightarrow η^\prime η$

Abstract: We report the results of the first search for the decay $B_s^0 \rightarrow η^\prime η$ using $121.4~\textrm{fb}^{-1}$ of data collected at the $Υ(5S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. We observe no significant signal and set a 90\% confidence-level upper limit of %$7.1 \times 10^{-5}$ $6.5 \times 10^{-5}$ on the branching fraction of this decay. We report the results of the first search for the decay $B_s^0 \rightarrow η^\prime η$ using $121.4~\textrm{fb}^{-1}$ of data collected at the $Υ(5S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. We observe no significant signal and set a 90\% confidence-level upper limit of %$7.1 \times 10^{-5}$ $6.5 \times 10^{-5}$ on the branching fraction of this decay. △ Less

Search for the $η_{c2}(1D)$ in $e^+e^-\toγη_{c2}(1D)$ at $\sqrt{s}$ near 10.6 GeV at Belle

Abstract: For the first time we search for the $η_{c2}(1D)$ in $e^+e^-\toγη_{c2}(1D)$ at $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.52, 10.58, and 10.867 GeV with data samples of 89.5 fb$^{-1}$, 711 fb$^{-1}$, and 121.4 fb$^{-1}$, respectively, accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider. No significant $η_{c2}(1D)$ signal is observed in the mass range between 3.8 and 3.88 GeV/$c^2$. Abstract: We measure the branching fractions and $CP$ asymmetries for the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays $D^{0}\toπ^{+}π^{-}η$, $D^{0}\to K^{+}K^{-}η$, and $D^{0}\toφη$, using 980 fb$^{-1}$ of data from the Belle experiment at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. The color-suppressed decay $D^{0}\toφη$ is observed for the first time, with very high significance. The results for the $CP$ asymmetries are \begin{eqnarray} A_{CP}(D^{0}\toπ^{+}π^{-}η) & = & [0.9\pm 1.2\,({\rm stat})\pm 0.5\,({\rm syst})]\%\,, \nonumber \\ A_{CP}(D^{0}\to K^{+}K^{-}η) & = & [-1.4\pm 3.3\,({\rm stat})\pm 1.1\,({\rm syst})]\%\,, \nonumber \\ A_{CP}(D^{0}\toφη)&= & [-1.9\pm 4.4\,({\rm stat})\pm 0.6\,({\rm syst})]\%\,. \nonumber \end{eqnarray} The results for $D^{0}\toπ^{+}π^{-}η$ are a significant improvement over previous results. The branching fraction and $A_{CP}$ results for $D^{0}\to K^{+}K^{-}η$, and the $A_{CP}$ result for $D^{0}\toφη$, are the first such measurements. Abstract: We report updated measurements of branching fractions ($\mathcal{B}$) and CP-violating charge asymmetries ($\mathcal{A_{\rm CP}}$) for charmless $B$ decays at Belle II, which operates on or near the $Υ$(4S) resonance at the SuperKEKB asymmetric energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. We use samples of 2019 and 2020 data corresponding to 62.8 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. The samples are analysed using two-dimensional fits in $ΔE$ and $M_{\it bc}$ to determine signal yields of approximately 568, 103, and 115 decays for the channels $B^0 \to K^+π^-$, $B^+ \to K_{\rm S}^0π^+$, and $B^0 \to π^+π^-$, respectively. Signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain branching fractions and CP-violating asymmetries for flavour-specific channels. The results are compatible with known determinations and contribute important information to an early assessment of Belle II detector performance. △ Less

Two structures are seen in the invariant mass distribution of $γψ(2S)$: one at $M_{R_1} = 3922.4\pm 6.5 \pm 2.0~{\rm MeV}/c^2$ w… ▽ More Using $980~\rm fb^{-1}$ of data on and around the $Υ(nS)(n=1,2,3,4,5)$ resonances collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider, the two-photon process $γγ\to γψ(2S)$ is studied from the threshold to $4.2~{\rm GeV}$ for the first time. Two structures are seen in the invariant mass distribution of $γψ(2S)$: one at $M_{R_1} = 3922.4\pm 6.5 \pm 2.0~{\rm MeV}/c^2$ with a width of $Γ_{R_1} = 22\pm 17\pm 4~{\rm MeV}$, and another at $M_{R_2} = 4014.3\pm 4.0 \pm 1.5~{\rm MeV}/c^2$ with a width of $Γ_{R_2} = 4\pm 11 \pm 6~{\rm MeV}$; the signals are parametrized with the incoherent sum of two Breit-Wigner functions. The first structure is consistent with the $X(3915)$ or the $χ_{c2}(3930)$, and the local statistical significance is determined to be $3.1σ$ with the systematic uncertainties included. The second matches none of the known charmonium or charmoniumlike states, and its global significance is determined to be $2.8σ$ including the look-elsewhere effect. The production rates are $Γ_{γγ}{\cal B}(R_1\toγψ(2S)) = 9.8\pm 3.6\pm 1.2~{\rm eV}$ assuming $(J^{PC}, |λ|) =(0^{++}, 0)$ or $2.0\pm 0.7\pm 0.2~{\rm eV}$ with $(2^{++}, 2)$ for the first structure and $Γ_{γγ}{\cal B}(R_2\toγψ(2S)) = 6.2\pm 2.2\pm 0.8~{\rm eV}$ with $(0^{++}, 0)$ or $1.2\pm 0.4\pm 0.2~{\rm eV}$ with $(2^{++}, 2)$ for the second one. We use a sample of electron-positron collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and corresponding to $62.8$ $\text{fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We reconstruct and select about $50$ $B^0 \to K_S^0 π^0$ candidates, and we measure $\mathcal{A}_{K^0π^0} = -0.40_{-0.44}^{+0.46} (\text{stat}) \pm 0.04 (\text{syst})$ and $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to K^0 π^0) = [8.5_{-1.6}^{+1.7} (\text{stat}) \pm 1.2 (\text{syst})] \times 10^{-6}$. This is the first measurement of $CP$ violation in $B^0 \to K^0π^0$ decays reported by Belle II. The results agree with previous determinations and show a detector performance comparable with the best Belle results. △ Less

To reduce the dependence of t… ▽ More The branching fractions of the decays $B^{+} \to η\ell^{+} ν_{\ell}$ and $B^{+} \to η^{\prime} \ell^{+} ν_{\ell}$ are measured, where $\ell$ is either an electron or a muon, using a data sample of $711\,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ containing $772 \times 10^6 B\bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. To reduce the dependence of the result on the form factor model, the measurement is performed over the entire $q^2$ range. This inclusive tagging approach offers a higher signal efficiency compared to previous searches. No significant signal is observed. An upper limit on the branching fraction of $B^{+}\to K^{+}ν\barν$ of $4.1 \times 10^{-5}$ is set at the 90% confidence level. △ Less

Kernel-based framework to estimate deformations of pneumothorax lung using relative position of anatomical landmarks

Lungs in the pneumothorax state during surgery have a large volume change from normal lungs,… ▽ More In video-assisted thoracoscopic surgeries, successful procedures of nodule resection are highly dependent on the precise estimation of lung deformation between the inflated lung in the computed tomography (CT) images during preoperative planning and the deflated lung in the treatment views during surgery. Lungs in the pneumothorax state during surgery have a large volume change from normal lungs, making it difficult to build a mechanical model. The purpose of this study is to develop a deformation estimation method of the 3D surface of a deflated lung from a few partial observations. To estimate deformations for a largely deformed lung, a kernel regression-based solution was introduced. The proposed method used a few landmarks to capture the partial deformation between the 3D surface mesh obtained from preoperative CT and the intraoperative anatomical positions. The deformation for each vertex of the entire mesh model was estimated per-vertex as a relative position from the landmarks. The landmarks were placed in the anatomical position of the lung's outer contour. The method was applied on nine datasets of the left lungs of live Beagle dogs. Contrast-enhanced CT images of the lungs were acquired. The proposed method achieved a local positional error of vertices of 2.74 mm, Hausdorff distance of 6.11 mm, and Dice similarity coefficient of 0.94. Moreover, the proposed method could estimate lung deformations from a small number of training cases and a small observation area. This study contributes to the data-driven modeling of pneumothorax deformation of the lung. △ Less

In addition, no significant signal for $Λ_c^+ \to p π^0$ is found so an upper limit on the branching fraction of ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p π^0)<8.0 \times 10^{-5}$ at 90\% credibility level is set, more than three times better than the best current upper limit. △ Less

Measurements of Partial Branching Fractions of Inclusive $B \to X_u \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}$ Decays with Hadronic Tagging

Abstract: We present measurements of partial branching fractions of inclusive semileptonic $B \to X_u \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}$ decays using the full Belle data set of 711 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and for $\ell = e, μ$. Inclusive semileptonic $B \to X_u \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}$ decays are CKM suppressed and measurements are complicated by the large background from CKM-favored… ▽ More We present measurements of partial branching fractions of inclusive semileptonic $B \to X_u \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}$ decays using the full Belle data set of 711 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and for $\ell = e, μ$. Inclusive semileptonic $B \to X_u \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}$ decays are CKM suppressed and measurements are complicated by the large background from CKM-favored $B \to X_c \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}$ transitions, which have a similar signature. Using machine learning techniques, we reduce this and other backgrounds effectively, whilst retaining access to a large fraction of the $B \to X_u \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}$ phase space and high signal efficiency. We measure partial branching fractions in three phase-space regions covering about $31\%$ to $86\%$ of the accessible $B \to X_u \, \ell^+\, ν_{\ell}$ phase space. The most inclusive measurement corresponds to the phase space with lepton energies of $E_\ell^B > 1 $ GeV, and we obtain $Δ\mathcal{B}(B \to X_u \ell^+ \, ν_\ell) = \left( 1.59 \pm 0.07 \pm 0.16 \right) \times 10^{-3}$ from a two-dimensional fit of the hadronic mass spectrum and the four-momentum-transfer squared distribution, with the uncertainties denoting the statistical and systematic error. We find $\left| V_{ub} \right| = \left( 4.10 \pm 0.09 \pm 0.22 \pm 0.15 \right) \times 10^{-3}$ from an average of four calculations for the partial decay rate with the third uncertainty denoting the average theory error. This value is higher but compatible with the determination from exclusive semileptonic decays within 1.3 standard deviations. In addition, we report charmless inclusive partial branching fractions separately for $B^+$ and $B^0$ mesons as well as for electron and muon final states. No isospin breaking or lepton flavor universality violating effects are observed. △ Less

For $B^+ \to φφK^+$, the branching fraction and $CP$-violation asymmetry measured below the $η_{c}$ threshold ($m_{φφ}<2.85\,{\rm GeV}/c^2$) are $[3.43^{\,+\,0.48}_{\,-\,0.46}({\rm stat})\pm 0.22({\rm syst})] \times10^{-6}$ and $-0.02\pm0.11({\rm stat})\pm0.01({\rm syst})$, respectively. Similarly, the branching fraction obtained for $B^0 \toφφK^0$ below the $η_{c}$ threshold is $[3.02^{\,+\,0.75}_{\,-\,0.66} ({\rm stat})\pm \,0.20({\rm syst})]\times10^{-6}$. Abstract: We present a search for the dark photon $A^{\prime}$ in the $B^0 \to A^{\prime} A^{\prime}$ decays, where $A^{\prime}$ subsequently decays to $e^+ e^-$, $μ^+ μ^-$, and $π^+ π^-$. The search is performed by analyzing $772 \times 10^6$ $B\overline{B}$ events collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+ e^-$ energy-asymmetric collider at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. No signal is found in the dark photo… ▽ More We present a search for the dark photon $A^{\prime}$ in the $B^0 \to A^{\prime} A^{\prime}$ decays, where $A^{\prime}$ subsequently decays to $e^+ e^-$, $μ^+ μ^-$, and $π^+ π^-$. The search is performed by analyzing $772 \times 10^6$ $B\overline{B}$ events collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+ e^-$ energy-asymmetric collider at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. No signal is found in the dark photon mass range $0.01~\mathrm{GeV}/c^2 \le m_{A^{\prime}} \le 2.62~\mathrm{GeV}/c^2$, and we set upper limits of the branching fraction of $B^0 \to A^{\prime} A^{\prime}$ at the 90\% confidence level. The products of branching fractions, $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to A^{\prime} A^{\prime}) \times \mathcal{B}(A^{\prime} \to e^+ e^-)^2$ and $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to A^{\prime} A^{\prime}) \times \mathcal{B}(A^{\prime} \to μ^+ μ^-)^2$, have limits of the order of $10^{-8}$ depending on the $A^{\prime}$ mass. Furthermore, considering $A^{\prime}$ decay rate to each pair of charged particles, the upper limits of $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to A^{\prime} A^{\prime})$ are of the order of $10^{-8}$-$10^{-5}$. From the upper limits of $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to A^{\prime} A^{\prime})$, we obtain the Higgs portal coupling for each assumed dark photon and dark Higgs mass. The Higgs portal couplings are of the order of $10^{-2}$-$10^{-1}$ at $m_{h'} \simeq m_{B^0} \pm 40~\mathrm{MeV}/c^2$ and $10^{-1}$-$1$ at $m_{h'} \simeq m_{B^0} \pm 3~\mathrm{GeV}/c^2$. △ Less

Spin Seebeck Effect in Nonmagnetic Excitonic Insulators

We analyze a half-filled two-orbital Hubbard model with a crystalline field splitting in the strong coupling limit. In this model, the competition between the crystalline field and electron correlations brings about an excitonic insulating state, where the two orbitals are spontaneous… ▽ More We propose a mechanism of the spin Seebeck effect attributed to excitonic condensation in a nonmagnetic insulator. We analyze a half-filled two-orbital Hubbard model with a crystalline field splitting in the strong coupling limit. In this model, the competition between the crystalline field and electron correlations brings about an excitonic insulating state, where the two orbitals are spontaneously hybridized. Using the generalized spin-wave theory and Boltzmann transport equation, we find that a spin current generated by a thermal gradient is observed in the excitonic insulating state without magnetic fields. The spin Seebeck effect originates from spin-split collective excitation modes although the ground state does not exhibit any magnetic orderings. This peculiar phenomenon is inherent in the excitonic insulating state, whose order parameter is time-reversal odd and yields a spin splitting for the collective excitation modes. We also find that the spin current is strongly enhanced and its direction is inverted in the vicinity of the phase transition to another magnetically ordered phase. We suggest that the present phenomenon is possibly observed in perovskite cobaltites with the GdFeO$_3$-type lattice distortion. △ Less

Perovskite as a spin current generator

Abstract: We theoretically show that materials with perovskite-type crystal structures provide a platform for spin current generation, taking advantage of a mechanism requiring neither the spin-orbit coupling nor a ferromagnetic moment, but is based on spin-split band structures in certain kinds of collinear antiferromagnetic states. By investigating a multiband Hubbard model for transition metal compounds… ▽ More We theoretically show that materials with perovskite-type crystal structures provide a platform for spin current generation, taking advantage of a mechanism requiring neither the spin-orbit coupling nor a ferromagnetic moment, but is based on spin-split band structures in certain kinds of collinear antiferromagnetic states. By investigating a multiband Hubbard model for transition metal compounds by means of the Hartree-Fock approximation and the Boltzmann transport theory, we find that a pure spin current is induced by an electric field applied to a C-type antiferromagnetic metallic phase. The spin current generation originates from a cooperative effect of spatially anisotropic electron transfer integrals owing to the GdFeO$_3$-type lattice distortion, which is ubiquitous in many perovskites, and the collinear spin configuration. We discuss our finding from the symmetry point of view, in comparison with other spin current generator candidates with collinear antiferomagnetism. We also propose several ways to detect the phenomenon in candidate perovskite materials. △ Less

The trigger slow control system of the Belle II experiment

An online trigger system is indispensable for the Belle II experiment to reduce the beam background events associated with high electron and positron beam currents wi… ▽ More The Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider in KEK, Japan, started physics data-taking with a complete detector from early 2019 with the primary physics goal of probing new physics in heavy quark and lepton decays. An online trigger system is indispensable for the Belle II experiment to reduce the beam background events associated with high electron and positron beam currents without sacrificing the target physics-oriented events. During the Belle II operation upon beam collision, the trigger system must be consistently controlled and its status must be carefully monitored in the process of data acquisition against unexpected situations. For this purpose, we have developed a slow control system for the Belle II trigger system. Around seventy thousand configuration parameters are saved in the Belle II central database server for every run when a run starts and stops. These parameters play an essential role in offline validation of the quality of runs. Around three thousand real-time variables are stored in the Belle II main archiving server, and the trend of some of these variables are regularly used for online and offline monitoring purposes. Various operator interface tools have been prepared and used. When the configuration parameters are not correctly applied, or some of the processes are unexpectedly terminated, the slow control system detects it, stops the data-taking process, and generates an alarm. In this article, we report how we constructed the Belle II trigger slow control system, and how we successfully managed to operate during its initial stage. △ Less

Archiver System Management for Belle II Detector Operation

In this paper, we present the archiver system used to store the monitoring data of the Belle II detector and discuss in particular how we maintain t… ▽ More The Belle II experiment is a high-energy physics experiment at the SuperKEKB electron-positron collider. Using Belle II data, high precision measurement of rare decays and CP-violation in heavy quarks and leptons can be performed to probe New Physics. In this paper, we present the archiver system used to store the monitoring data of the Belle II detector and discuss in particular how we maintain the system that archives the monitoring process variables of the subdetectors. We currently save about 26 thousand variables including the temperature of various subdetectors components, status of water leak sensors, high voltage power supply status, data acquisition status, and luminosity information of the colliding beams. For stable data taking, it is essential to collect and archive these variables. We ensure the availability and consistency of all the variables from the subdetector and other systems, as well as the status of the archiver itself are consistent and regularly updated. To cope with a possible hardware failure, we prepared a backup archiver that is synchronized with the main archiver. △ Less

Performance of the Unified Readout System of Belle II

In order to read out the eve… ▽ More The Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB collider at KEK, Tsukuba, Japan has successfully started taking data with the full detector in March 2019. Belle II is a luminosity frontier experiment of the new generation to search for physics beyond the Standard Model of elementary particles, from precision measurements of a huge number of B and charm mesons and tau leptons. In order to read out the events at a high rate from the seven subdetectors of Belle II, we adopt a highly unified readout system, including a unified trigger timing distribution system (TTD), a unified high speed data link system (Belle2link), and a common backend system to receive Belle2link data. Each subdetector frontend readout system has a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) in which unified firmware components of the TTD receiver and Belle2link transmitter are embedded. The system is designed for data taking at a trigger rate up to 30 kHz with a dead-time fraction of about 1% in the frontend readout system. The trigger rate is still much lower than our design. However, the background level is already high due to the initial vacuum condition and other accelerator parameters, and it is the most limiting factor of the accelerator and detector operation. Hence the occupancy and radiation effects to the frontend electronics are rather severe, and they cause various kind of instabilities. We present the performance of the system, including the achieved trigger rate, dead-time fraction, stability, and discuss the experience gained during the operation. △ Less

PCI-express based high-speed readout for the BelleII DAQ upgrade

Belle~II started data-taking in April 2018, using a synchronous data acquisition (DAQ) system based on pipelined trigger flow control. The Belle II DAQ system is designed to handle a 30-kHz trigger rate with approximately 1% of dead time, under the assumption of a raw event size of 1 MB. The DAQ system is reliable, and the overall data-taking efficiency reached 84.2% during the run period of January 2020 to June 2020. The current readout system cannot be operated in the term of 10 years from the viewpoint of DAQ maintainability; meanwhile, the readout system is obstructing high-speed data transmission. A solution involving a PCI-express-based readout module with high data throughput of up to 100 Gb/s was adopted to upgrade the Belle II DAQ system. We particularly focused on the design of firmware and software based on this new generation of readout board, called PCIe40, with an Altera Arria 10 field-programmable gate array chip. Forty-eight GBT (GigaBit Transceiver) serial links, PCI-express hard IP-based DMA architecture, interface of timing and trigger distribution system, and slow control system were designed to integrate with the current Belle II DAQ system. Analysis of Heterogeneity of Pneumothorax-associated Deformation using Model-based Registration

In this study, we introduce spatial and geometric analysis methods for inflated/deflated lungs and discuss heterogeneity in pneumothorax-associated deformation. Contrast-enhanced CT images simulating intraoperative conditions were acquired from live Beagle dogs. Deformable mesh registration techniques were designed to map the surface and subsurface tissues of lung lobes. The developed framework addressed local mismatches of bronchial tree structures and achieved stable registration with a Hausdorff distance of less than 1 mm and a target registration error of less than 5 mm. Our results show that the strain of lung parenchyma was 35% higher than that of bronchi, and that subsurface deformation in the deflated lung is heterogeneous. △ Less

We use a sample of electron-positron collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and corresponding to $34.6$\,fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. The $ΔE$ distrib… ▽ More We report on first measurements of branching fractions~($\mathcal{B}$) and CP-violating charge asymmetries~($\mathcal{A}$) in charmless $B$ decays at Belle~II. We use a sample of electron-positron collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance and corresponding to $34.6$\,fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We use simulation to determine optimized event selections. The $ΔE$ distributions of the resulting samples, restricted in $M_{\rm bc}$, are fit to determine signal yields. Signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain branching fractions and CP-violating asymmetries for flavour-specific channels. These are the first measurements in charmless decays reported by Belle~II. Results are compatible with known determinations and show detector performance comparable with the best Belle results offering a reliable basis to assess projections for future reach. △ Less

Abstract: In the Standard Model (SM) charmless hadronic decays $B_s^0 \rightarrow η^\prime η$ proceed via tree-level $b\to u$ and penguin $b\to s$ transitions. Penguin transitions are sensitive to Beyond-the-Standard-Model (BSM) physics scenarios and could affect the branching fractions and {\it CP} asymmetries in such decays. Measurement of Hadronic Mass Moments $\langle M_X^n \rangle $ in $B \rightarrow X_c \ell ν$ Decays at Belle II

The $X_c$ system is identified by the remaining reconstructed tracks and clusters in the electromagnetic calorimeter. We also present evidence (3.8 standard deviations) for the similar decay of the $Ξ_c(2790)^0$ and measure: $B[Ξ_c(2790)^{0}\toΞ_c^{0}γ]/B[Ξ_c(2790)^0\toΞ_c^{\prime +}π^{-}\toΞ_c^{+}γπ^-] = 0.13 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.02$. The first quoted uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. We find no hint of the analogous decays of the $Ξ_c(2815)^+$ and $Ξ_c(2790)^+$ baryons and set upper limits at the 90% confidence level of: $B[Ξ_c(2815)^{+}\toΞ_c^{+}γ]/B[Ξ_c(2815)^+\toΞ_c(2645)^0π^+\toΞ_c^+π^-π^+] < 0.09,$ and $B[Ξ_c(2790)^{+}\toΞ_c^{+}γ]/B[Ξ_c(2790)^+\toΞ_c^{\prime 0}π^{+}\toΞ_c^{0}γπ^+] < 0.06.$ Approximate values of the partial widths of the decays are extracted, which can be used to discriminate between models of the underlying quark structure of these excited states. △ Less

We obtain $\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow ηΛπ^{+})/\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow p K^{-} π^{+})$ = $0.293 \pm 0.003 \pm 0.014$, $\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow ηΣ^{0} π^{+})/\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow p K^{-} π^{+})$ = $0.120 \pm 0.006 \pm 0.006$, $\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow Λ(1670) π^{+}) \times \mathcal{B}(Λ(1670) \rightarrow ηΛ)/\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow p K^{-} π^{+})$ = $(5.54 \pm 0.29 \pm 0.73 ) \times 10^{-2}$, and $\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow ηΣ(1385)^{+})/\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+} \rightarrow p K^{-} π^{+})$ = $0.192 \pm 0.006 \pm 0.016$. Here, the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and related to slow pion reconstruction, respectively. The systematic uncertainties are limited by the statistics of auxiliary measurements and will improve in the future. Abstract: The enhancement of charged-particle pairs with large pseudorapidity difference and small azimuthal angle difference, often referred to as the ``ridge signal'', is a phenomenon widely observed in high multiplicity proton-proton, proton-ion and deutron-ion collisions, which is not yet fully understood. In heavy-ion collisions, the hydrodynamic expansion of the Quark-Gluon Plasma is one of the possible explanations of the origin of the ridge signal. Measurements in the $e^+e^-$ collision system, without the complexities introduced by hadron structure in the initial state, can serve as a complementary probe to examine the formation of a ridge signal. The first measurement of two-particle angular correlation functions in high multiplicity $e^+e^-$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=10.52$ GeV is reported. The hadronic $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected by the Belle detector at KEKB are used in this study. Two-particle angular correlation functions are measured over the full azimuth and large pseudorapidity intervals which are defined by either the electron beam axis or the event thrust as a function of charged particle multiplicity. The measurement in the event thrust analysis, with mostly outgoing quark pairs determining the reference axis, is sensitive to the region of additional soft gluon emissions. No significant ridge signal is observed with either coordinates analyses. Near side jet correlations appear to be absent in the thrust axis analysis. The measurements are compared to predictions from various event generators and expected to provide new constraints to the phenomenological models in the low energy regime. △ Less

Charmless hadronic $B$ decays represent an important part of the Belle II physics program, and are an ideal benchmark to test the detector capabilities in terms of track… ▽ More We utilize a sample of 34.6 fb$^{-1}$, collected by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric energy $e^+e^-$ collider, to search for the $B^+ \to φK^+$, $B^+ \to φK^{*+}$, $B^0 \to φK^0_S$, and $B^0 \to φK^{*0}$ decays. Charmless hadronic $B$ decays represent an important part of the Belle II physics program, and are an ideal benchmark to test the detector capabilities in terms of tracking efficiency, charged particle identification, vertexing, and advanced analysis techniques. Each channel is observed with a significance that exceeds 5 standard deviations, and we obtain measurements of their branching ratios that are in good agreement with the world averages.
