On the Advice Complexity of Online Unit Clustering
Abstract: In online unit clustering a set of n points of a metric space that arrive one by one, partition the points into clusters of diameter at most one, so that number of clusters is minimized. This paper gives linear upper and lower bounds for the advice complexity of 1-competitive online unit clustering algorithms in terms of number of points in $\mathbb{R}^d$ and $\mathbb{Z}^d$.

Book free $3$-Uniform Hypergraphs
Abstract: A $k$-book in a hypergraph consists of $k$ Berge triangles sharing a common edge. In this paper we prove that the number of the hyperedges in a $k$-book-free 3-uniform hypergraph on $n$ vertices is at most $\frac{n^2}{8}(1+o(1))$.

Embedding graphs having Ore-degree at most five
Abstract: Let $H$ and $G$ be graphs on $n$ vertices, where $n$ is sufficiently large. We prove that if $H$ has Ore-degree at most 5 and $G$ has minimum degree at least $2n/3$ then $H\subset G.$

Biclique coverings, rectifier networks and the cost of $\varepsilon$-removal
Abstract: We relate two complexity notions of bipartite graphs: the minimal weight biclique covering number $\mathrm{Cov}(G)$ and the minimal rectifier network size $\mathrm{Rect}(G)$ of a bipartite graph $G$. We show that there exist graphs with $\mathrm{Cov}(G)\geq \mathrm{Rect}(G)^{3/2-ε}$. As a corollary, we establish that there exist nondeterministic finite automata (NFAs) with $\varepsilon$-transition… ▽ More

On nonpermutational transformation semigroups with an application to syntactic complexity
Abstract: We give an upper bound of $n((n-1)!-(n-3)!)$ for the possible largest size of a subsemigroup of the full transformational semigroup over $n$ elements consisting only of nonpermutational transformations. As an application we gain the same upper bound for the syntactic complexity of (generalized) definite languages as well.

On the structure and syntactic complexity of generalized definite languages
Abstract: We give a forbidden pattern characterization for the class of generalized definite languages, show that the corresponding problem is NL-complete and can be solved in quadratic time. We also show that their syntactic complexity coincides with that of the definite languages and give an upper bound of n! for this measure.

Randomized algorithm for the k-server problem on decomposable spaces
Abstract: We study the randomized k-server problem on metric spaces consisting of widely separated subspaces. We give a method which extends existing algorithms to larger spaces with the growth rate of the competitive quotients being at most O(log k). This method yields o(k)-competitive algorithms solving the randomized k-server problem, for some special underlying metric spaces, e.g. HSTs of "small" heig… ▽ More
