On balanced homodyne measurement -- simple proof of wave function collapse
Abstract: Using only elementary calculus we prove that the balanced homodyne detector measures the quadrature phase amplitude of a signal. More precisely, after the measurement of photon numbers $l$, the collapse of the composite state of a strong laser beam and a signal approximates the collapse of the signal to the eigen-state of quadrature phase amplitude with eigen-value $r$.

Parametrizations of degenerate density matrices
Abstract: It turns out that a parametrization of degenerate density matrices requires a parametrization of $\mathfrak{F}=U(n)/({U(k_1)\times U(k_2)\times \cdots \times U(k_m)})\quad n=k_1 +\cdots + k_m $ where $U(k)$ denotes the set of all unitary $k\times k$-matrices with complex entries. Unfortunately the parametrization of this quotient space is quite involved. Our solution does not rely on Lie algebra m… ▽ More

A Germanium-Vacancy Single Photon Source in Diamond
Abstract: Color centers in diamond are widely recognized as a promising solid state platform for quantum cryptography and quantum information processing. For these applications, single photon sources with a high intensity and reproducible fabrication methods are required. Here, we report a novel color center in diamond, composed of a germanium (Ge) and a vacancy (V) and named the GeV center, which has a sha… ▽ More

Edge of the Wedge Theorem for Tempered Ultrahyperfunctions
Abstract: Tempered ultra-hyperfunctions do not have the same type of localization properties as Schwartz distributions or Sato hyperfunctions; but the localization properties seem to play an important role in the proofs of the various versions of the edge of the wedge theorem. Thus, for tempered ultra hyper-functions, one finds a global form of this result in the literature, but no local version. In this pa… ▽ More

Teleportation of Continuous Quantum Variables: A New Approach
Abstract: Teleportation of optical field states (as continuous quantum variables) is usually described in terms of Wigner functions. This is in marked contrast to the theoretical treatment of teleportation of qubits. In this paper we show that by using the holomorphic representation of the canonical commutation relations, teleportation of continuous quantum variables can be treated in complete analogy to… ▽ More
