In this paper, we obtain novel traversable, static, and spherically symmetric wormhole solutions, derived from the effective energy density and isotropic pressure resulting from the Casimir effect, corrected by the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) within the framework of Loop Quantum Cosmology (LQC). The goal is to explore the interplay between competing quantum gravity effects and quantum vacuum phenomena in the emergence of non-trivial spacetime structures. We examine features such as traversability, embedding diagrams, energy conditions, curvature, and stability of the obtained solutions. Additionally, we analyze the junction conditions required to integrate the wormhole spacetime with an external Schwarzschild spacetime and calculate the amount of exotic matter needed to maintain the wormhole. Finally, we evaluate the conditions under which this latter remains visible or is hidden by the event horizon associated with the Schwarzschild spacetime.

This work presents a new wormhole solution in General Relativity supported by the quantum vacuum fluctuations of the Casimir effect between perfect chromometallic mirrors in $(3+1)$ dimensions, which was recently fitted using first-principle numerical simulations. Initially, we employ a perturbative approach for $x = m r \ll 1$, where $m$ represents the Casimir mass. This approach has proven to be a reasonable approximation when compared with the exact case in this regime. To find well-behaved redshift functions, we impose constraints on the free parameters. As expected, this solution recovers the electromagnetic-like Casimir solution for $m = 0$. Analyzing the traversability conditions, we graphically find that all will be satisfied for $ 0 \leq m \leq 0.20$. On the other hand, all the energy conditions are violated, as usual in this context. Stability from Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkov (TOV) equation is guaranteed for all $r$ and from the speed of sound for $0.16 \le m \le 0.18$. Therefore, for $0.16 \leq m \leq 0.18$, we will have a stable solution that satisfies all traversability conditions.

We provide a $5D$ generalization of the Hawking {\it et al.} black string in a Randall Sundrum setup. The embedded $4D$ geometry corresponds to the Simpson-Visser (SV) spacetime, which can represent a traversable wormhole, a one-way wormhole, or a regular black hole. To achieve this, we linearly deform both the bulk geometry and the bulk matter distribution with respect to a coupling constant. These deformations induce a transition from a $5D$ vacuum AdS distribution to an anisotropic distribution. The latter results in the induced geometry on the brane transitioning from a singular Schwarzschild spacetime to a regularized SV spacetime. Since there are no sources or matter fields on the brane, we can assert that the induced SV geometry on the brane arises from the influence of geometrical and matter deformations in the bulk. Thus, the central singularity is suppressed. We determine the cases where the energy conditions are either satisfied or violated. Our spacetime is asymptotically radial AdS, which is intriguing given the absence of a global AdS box that would prevent instability under larger wavelength perturbations. Therefore, it is no longer appropriate to claim that instability exists for very small perturbations near the AdS horizon.

This study investigates the potential of the Sagnac Effect for detecting dark matter in the Solar System, particularly within the Sun. Originating from the relative delay and interference of light beams traveling in opposite directions on rotating platforms, the effect can account how varying gravitational conditions affect its manifestation. We analyze the Sagnac time in two static, spherically symmetric spacetimes: Schwarzschild and one incorporating dark matter. By comparing the calculated relative deviations in Sagnac time obtained from satellites orbiting our star with the current precision of onboard atomic clocks (about $10^{-11}$), we evaluate the feasibility of detecting dark matter's gravitational influence through this effect.

This study introduces and investigates Lorentzian traversable wormhole solutions rooted in Loop Quantum Gravity (LQG). The static and spherically symmetric solutions to be examined stem from the energy density sourcing self-dual regular black holes discovered by L. Modesto, relying on the parameters associated with LQG, which account for the quantum nature of spacetime. We specifically focus on macroscopic wormholes characterized by small values of these parameters. Our analysis encompasses zero-tidal solutions and those with non-constant redshift functions, exploring immersion diagrams, curvatures, energy conditions, equilibrium requirements, and the requisite quantity of exotic matter to sustain these wormholes. The investigation underscores the influence of LQG parameters on these features, highlighting the pivotal role of spacetime's quantum properties in sha** these wormholes and governing their behavior.

On the other hand, Regular Black Holes, supported by non-linear electrodynamics, have well-defined curvature scalars but often violate energy conditions. In this work, we investigate how to obtain regular solutions in $(2+1)$ dimensions by considering $f(R)$ gravity and non-linear electrodynamics. Subsequently, we find that non-linear electrodynamics models that guarantee regular solutions in General Relativity do not produce regular solutions in $f(R)$ theory. Finally, we observe that energy conditions are still violated in $f(R)$ gravity.

Theoretically, it has been proposed that objects traveling radially along regular black holes (RBHs) would not be destroyed because of finite tidal forces and the absence of a singularity. However, the matter source allows the creation of an inner horizon linked to an unstable de Sitter core due to mass inflation instability. This inner horizon also gives rise to the appearance of a remnant, inhibiting complete evaporation. We introduce here a $d$-dimensional black hole model with Localized Sources of Matter (LSM), characterized by the absence of an inner horizon and featuring a central integrable singularity instead of an unstable de Sitter core. In our model, any object tracing a radial and timelike world-line would not be crushed by the singularity. This is attributed to finite tidal forces, the extendability of radial geodesics, and the weak nature of the singularity. Our LSM model enables the potential complete evaporation down to $r_h=0$ without forming a remnant. In higher dimensions, complete evaporation occurs through a phase transition, which could occur at Planck scales and be speculatively driven by the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP). Unlike RBHs, our model satisfies the energy conditions. We demonstrate a linear correction to the conventional area law of entropy, distinct from the RBH's correction. Additionally, we investigate the stability of the solutions through the speed of sound.

We consider the impact of Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) effects on the Dymnikova regular black hole. The minimum length scale introduced by the GUP modifies the energy density associated with the gravitational source, referred to as the Dymnikova vacuum, based on its analogy with the gravitational counterpart of the Schwinger effect. We present an approximated analytical solution (together with exact numerical results for comparison) that encompasses a wide range of black hole sizes, spanning from microscopic (Planckian and sub-Planckian) to macroscopic scales, whose properties crucially depend on the ratio between the de Sitter core radius and the GUP scale. The emergence of a wormhole inside de Sitter core in the innermost region of the object is one of the most relevant features of this family of solutions. Our findings demonstrate that these solutions remain singularity free, confirming the robustness of the Dymnikova regular black hole under GUP corrections. Regarding energy conditions, we find that the violation of the strong, weak, and null energy conditions which is characteristic of the pure Dymnikova case does not occur at Planckian scales in the GUP corrected solution. This contrast suggests a departure from conventional expectations and highlights the influence of quantum corrections and the GUP in modifying the energy conditions near the Planck scale.

In this paper, we investigate the existence of asymptotically flat wormhole geometries within the framework of Rastall-Rainbow modified gravity, a synthesis of two distinct theoretical models: Rastall theory and the Rainbow description. Our study uncovers that, when considering specific combinations of free parameters and equations of state, the emergence of static and spherically symmetric wormholes is not feasible within a zero-tidal-force context. By considering the subset of viable solutions, we conduct a rigorous assessment of their stability through adiabatic sound velocity analysis and scrutinize their compliance with the Weak Energy Condition (WEC). In summary, our inquiry provides insights into how the interplay between Rastall parameters and Rainbow functions may alleviate violations of energy conditions in these modified gravity scenarios.

This work presents new three-dimensional traversable wormhole solutions sourced by the Casimir density and pressures related to the quantum vacuum fluctuations in Yang-Mills (Y-M) theory. We begin by analyzing the noninteracting Y-M Casimir wormholes, initially considering an arbitrary state parameter $ω$ and determine a simple constant wormhole shape function. Next, we introduce a new methodology for deforming the state parameter to find well-behaved redshift functions. The wormhole can be interpreted as a legitimate Casimir wormhole with an expected average state parameter of $ω=2$. Then, we investigate the wormhole curvature properties, energy conditions, and stability. Furthermore, we discover a novel family of traversable wormhole solutions sourced by the quantum vacuum fluctuations of interacting Yang-Mills fields with a more complex shape function. Deforming the effective state parameter similarly, we obtain well-behaved redshift functions and traversable wormhole solutions. Finally, we examine the energy conditions and stability of solutions in the interacting scenario and compare to the noninteracting case.

In this paper, we obtain new $d$-dimensional and asymptotically flat wormhole solutions by assuming a specific form of the energy density distribution. This is addressed by considering the generalization of the so-called Dymnikova model, originally studied in the context of regular black holes. In this way, we find constraints for the involved parameters, namely, the throat radius, the scale associated to the matter distribution, and the spacetime dimension, to build those wormholes. Following, we study the properties of the obtained solutions, namely, embedding diagrams as well as Weak and Null Energy Conditions (WEC and NEC). We show that the larger the dimension, the larger the flatness of the wormhole and the more pronounced the violation of these energy conditions. We also show that the corresponding fluid behaves as phantom-like for $d \geq 4$ in the neighborhood of the wormhole throat. In addition, we specialize the employed model for $d=4$ spacetime, associating it with the gravitational analog of the Schwinger effect in a vacuum and correcting the model by introducing a minimal length via Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP). Thus, we obtain a novel traversable and asymptotically flat wormhole solution by considering that the minimal length is very tiny. The associated embedding diagram shows us that the presence of this fundamental quantity increases the slope of the wormhole towards its throat compared with the case without it. That correction also attenuates the WEC (and NEC) violations nearby the throat, with the fluid ceasing to be a phantom-type at the Planck scale, unlike the case without the minimal length.

The main result is obtaining the analytical solutions for the metric and all thermodynamic quantities, such as Hawking temperature, entropy, constant-volume heat capacity, and Gibbs free energy for static and stationary black hole solutions. Consequently, we determine a non-null horizon radius at which the black hole halts its evaporation by vanishing the temperature, indicating the emergence of remnants. In the stationary case, we also obtain the ergosphere regions for the found solutions and compare them. Finally, we find local and global phase transitions by studying the behavior of the heat capacity and Gibbs free energy.

In this paper, we study quantum relativistic features of a scalar field around the Rindler-Schwarzschild wormhole. First, we introduce this new class of spacetime, investigating some energy conditions and verifying their violation in a region nearby the wormhole throat, which means that the object has to have an exotic energy in order to prevent its collapse. Then, we study the behavior of the massless scalar field in this spacetime and compute the effective potential by means of tortoise coordinates. We show that such a potential is attractive nearby the wormhole throat and that is traversable via quantum tunneling by massive particles with sufficiently low energies. The solution of the Klein-Gordon equation is obtained subsequently, showing that the energy spectrum of the field is subject to a constraint which induces a decreasing oscillatory behavior. On imposing Dirichlet boundary conditions on a spherical shell nearby the throat we then determine the particle energy levels, and we use this spectrum to calculate the quantum revival of the eigenstates. Finally, we compute the Casimir energy associated with the massless scalar field at zero temperature. We perform this calculation by means of the sum of modes method. The zero-point energy is regularized using the Epstein-Hurwitz zeta-function. We also obtain an analytical expression for the Casimir force acting on the shell.

In the present paper we investigate thermal fluctuation corrections to the vacuum energy at zero temperature of a conformally coupled massless scalar field whose modes propagate in the Einstein universe with a spherical boundary, characterized by both Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions. Thus, we generalize the results found in literature in this scenario, which has considered only the vacuum energy at zero temperature. To do this, we use the generalized zeta function method plus Abel-Plana formula and calculate the renormalized Casimir free energy as well as other thermodynamics quantities, namely, internal energy and entropy. For each one of them we also investigate the limits of high and low temperatures. At high temperatures we found that the renormalized Casimir free energy presents classical contributions, along with a logarithmic term. Also in this limit, the internal energy presents a classical contribution and the entropy a logarithmic term in addition to a classical contribution as well. Conversely, at low temperatures, it is shown that both the renormalized Casimir free energy and internal energy are dominated by the vacuum energy at zero temperature. It is also shown that the entropy obeys the third law of thermodynamics.

This paper investigates a new class of regular black hole solutions in (2 + 1)-dimensions by introducing a generalization of the quasi-localized matter model proposed by Estrada and Tello-Ortiz. Initially, we try to physically interpret the matter source encoded in the energy-momentum tensor as originating from nonlinear electrodynamics. We show, however, that the required conditions for the quasi-locality of the energy density are incompatible with the expected behavior of nonlinear electrodynamics, which must tend to Maxwell's theory on the asymptotic limit. Despite this, we propose a generalization for the quasi-localized energy density that encompasses the existing models in the literature and allows us to obtain a class of regular black hole solutions exhibiting remarkable features on the event horizons and their thermodynamic properties. Furthermore, since the usual version of the first law of thermodynamics, due to the presence of the matter fields, leads to incorrect values of entropy and thermodynamics volume for regular black holes, we propose a new version of the first law for regular black holes.

For $n\neq2$ we have a symmetric double barrier shaped potential when the orbital angular momentum is zero and a single barrier for nonzero angular orbital momentum. Analytical solutions for the Schrödinger equation in the generalized Ellis-Bronnikov spacetime could be found only for $n=2$. Such solutions were given in terms of the confluent Heun functions. In this paper, we obtain two different static black string solutions by considering as sources axisymmetric dark matter distributions in 3+1 dimensions. These solutions tend asymptotically to the usual static and uncharged black string vacuum solution predicted by General Relativity (GR). We show that both the solutions present an event horizon each, like the vacuum solution, which is larger than the horizon of the latter. Then, we obtain the Hawking temperature associated with the black string solutions. Differently from what occurs with the static black string in the vacuum, we find that there exists a linear density of mass (or tension) remnant associated with a vanishing Hawking temperature for the obtained solutions. Thus, we analyze how the presence of dark matter affects the occurrence of the remnants. Further, we calculate other thermodynamic quantities, namely entropy, heat capacity, and free energy per length unit, showing that thermal phase transitions can occur in the presence of dark matter. We also analyze the weak (and null) energy conditions and conclude that the dark matter does not behave like an exotic fluid. Finally, we obtain the corresponding stationary solutions, determining their tensions as functions of both the mass and angular momentum of the black strings.

We obtain new regular black hole solutions for an action in 2+1 dimensions with bilocal Ricci scalar and negative cosmological constant. Besides their connection to the cosmological constant, these solutions depend on a fundamental length due to their non-local nature. The effective profile densities that result from the non-local geometries have quasi-localized mass/energy since they are finite at the origin and their integration in all space is convergent. The black holes obtained are free of singularities and present one, two, or none horizons depending on the values of the involved parameters. The new solutions can have either an AdS, dS, or even a flat core. In the case of a de-Sitter core, it could represent a repulsive force coming from quantum effects. Although the resulting (effective) cosmological constant is positive near the origin, the classical (naked) counterpart is still negative thus precluding a cosmological horizon. We investigate the energy conditions of the effective source and determine the region where exotic energy should be found. Thermodynamic quantities are also computed. On the one hand, Gibbs's potential shows that both solutions are globally unstable, as in the BTZ case. On the other, we show that for small values of the horizon radius the Hawking temperature is negatively divergent but a finite size remnant can be defined where $T_H$ crosses zero. At this point, the heat capacity sign changes from negative to positive, indicating that the black holes are locally stable while irradiating. Thus, such a quantity, along with $T_H$, presents crucial differences with the BTZ black hole for small horizon radii where quantum effects become relevant. Finally, we analyze the bilocal black hole geodesics and find stable circular orbits for massless and massive particles, another feature absent in the BTZ case.

Contrary to employed in the literature, we use a nonminimal curvature-coupling term $B^{μν}B^{κλ}R_{μνκλ}$ which incorporates all three kinds of Lorentz-violating coefficient for the pure-gravity sector of the minimal standard-model extension. We find that the wormhole is non-asymptotically globally flat and determine the allowed parameters of the theory, showing that the matter fluid must be necessarily anisotropic. We also analyze the energy conditions, checking their validity range and comparing them with those predicted by general relativity.

We calculate the resonant frequencies related to the spectrum of quasibound states, as well as its corresponding angular and radial wave eigenfunctions. We also analyze the instability of the system. These results are particularized to the cases of Schwarzschild and Kerr black holes. Additionally, we compare our analytical results with the numerical ones known in the literature. In this paper, we investigate the gravitational bending angle due to the Casimir wormholes, which consider the Casimir energy as the source. Furthermore, some of these Casimir wormholes regard Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) corrections of Casimir energy. We use the Ishihara method for the Jacobi metric, which allows us to study the bending angle of light and massive test particles for finite distances. Beyond the uncorrected Casimir source, we consider many GUP corrections, namely: the Kempf, Mangano and Mann (KMM) model, the Detournay, Gabriel and Spindel (DGS) model, and the so-called type II model for the GUP principle. We also find the deflection angle of light and massive particles in the case of the receiver and the source are far away from the lens. In this case, we also compute the optical scalars: convergence and shear for these Casimir wormholes as a gravitational weak lens.

In this paper, we investigate the simplest wormhole solution - the Ellis-Bronnikov one - in the context of the Asymptotically Safe Gravity (ASG) at the Planck scale. We work with three models, which employ Ricci scalar, Kretschmann scalar, and squared Ricci tensor to improve the field equations by turning the Newton constant into a running coupling constant. For all the cases, we check the radial energy conditions of the wormhole solution and compare them with those valid in General Relativity (GR). We verify that asymptotic safety guarantees that the Ellis-Bronnikov wormhole can satisfy the radial energy conditions at the throat radius, $r_0$, within an interval of values of this latter. That is quite different from the result found in GR. Following, we evaluate the effective radial state parameter, $ω(r)$, at $r_0$, showing that the quantum gravitational effects modify Einstein's field equations in such a way that it is necessary a very exotic source of matter to generate the wormhole spacetime -- phantom or quintessence-like. That occurs within some ranges of throat radii, even though the energy conditions are or not violated there. Finally, we find that, although at $r_0$ we have a quintessence-like matter, on growing of $r$ we necessarily come across phantom-like regions. We speculate if such a phantom fluid must always be present in wormholes in the ASG context or even in more general quantum gravity scenarios.

We initially discuss some formal aspects of the model in order to compute the corrections to the relevant quantities of the condensate. Following, we evaluate the generating functional from which obtain some thermodynamic parameters. Then we calculate the corrected critical temperature $T_c$ that sets the relativistic Bose-Einstein condensate considering the three principal rainbow functions, finding, in addition, a phenomenological upper bound for the parameters involved in the model. Finally, we discuss how harder is for the particles at an arbitrary temperature $T<T_c$ to enter the condensed state compared to the usual scenario, {\it i.e.}, without rainbow gravity.

In this paper we show that wormholes in (2+1) dimensions (3-D) cannot be sourced solely by both Casimir energy and tension, differently from what happens in a 4-D scenario, in which case it has been shown recently, by the direct computation of the exact shape and redshift functions of a wormhole solution, that this is possible. We show that in a 3-D spacetime the same is not true since the arising of at least an event horizon is inevitable. We do the analysis for massive and massless fermions, as well as for scalar fields, considering quasi-periodic boundary conditions and find that a possibility to circumvent such a restriction is to introduce, besides the 3-D Casimir energy density and tension, a cosmological constant, embedding the surface in a 4-D manifold and applying a perpendicular weak magnetic field. This causes an additional tension on it, which contributes to the formation of the wormhole. Finally, we discuss the possibility of producing the condensed matter analogous of this wormhole in a graphene sheet and analyze the electronic transport through it.

In this paper, we investigate the role of gravito-inertial effects on the Casimir energy of a massless scalar field confined between two parallel plates orbiting a static and zero tidal Schwarzschild-like wormhole, at zero temperature. Firstly, we obtain the metric in isotropic coordinates, finding the allowed angular velocities and the circular orbit radii for a material particle as well as for the photon. Following, we compute the changes induced by both gravity and rotation of the plates in the energy density of the quantum vacuum fluctuations associated to the scalar field, in the zero tidal approximation inside the cavity. Finally, the Casimir energy obtained for some these wormholes are graphically compared between themselves and also with those ones related to an Ellis wormhole as well as to a Schwarzschild black hole. With this, the gravito-inertial effects on the quantum vacuum fluctuations analyzed in this work allow to recognize and identify both the geometry and topology of the spacetime associated to each one of these objects.

In this paper, we investigate the physical basis behind the molecular biochirality from the computation of a parity violation energy difference (PVED) in enantiomers of organic molecules (e.g., amino acids, which occur as levogyrous-type in nature), by considering the influence of fundamental interactions beyond the standard model of elementary particles and interactions. Particularly, we study the role of a 4-D Chern-Simons theory at the origin of this PVED, the Carroll-Field-Jackiw electrodynamics, which violates both Lorentz and parity symmetries. Then, we consider terrestrial and Jovian scenarios where the influence of a modified (effective) magnetic field generated by the planets on the molecules is taken into account in the calculation of PVED. Besides this quantity, we also calculate the relative quantity excess of an enantiomer over the other in a thermal bath. Finally, we compare the obtained results with those ones from other models based on fundamental interactions.

We investigate the quantum evolution of the universe in the presence of two types of dark energies. First, we consider the phantom class ($ω<-1$) which would be responsible for a super-accelerated cosmic expansion, and then we apply the procedure to an ordinary $Λ>0$ vacuum ($ω=-1$). This is done by analytically solving the Wheeler-DeWitt equation with ordering term (WdW) in the cosmology of Friedmann-Robertson-Walker. In this paper, we find exact solutions in the scale factor $a$ and the ordering parameter $q$. For $q=1$ it is shown that the universe has a high probability of evolving from a big bang singularity. On the other hand, for $q = 0$ the solution indicates that an initial singularity is unlikely. Instead, the universe has maximal probability of starting with a finite well-defined size which we compute explicitly at primordial times. We also study the time evolution of the scale factor by means of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation and show that an ultimate big rip singularity emerges explicitly from our solutions. The phantom scenario thus predicts a dramatic end in which the universe would reach an infinite scale factor in a finite cosmological time as pointed by Caldwell et al. in a classical setup. Finally, we solve the WdW equation with ordinary constant dark energy and show that in this case the universe does not rip apart in a finite era.

The discussion of vacuum energy is currently a subject of great theoretical importance, specially concerning the cosmological constant problem in General Relativity. From Quantum Field Theory, it is stated that vacuum states subject to boundary conditions may generate tensions on these boundaries related to a measurable non-zero renormalized vacuum energy: the Casimir Effect. As such, investigating how these vacuum states and energy behave in curved backgrounds is just natural and might provide important results in the near future. In this paper we revisit a model of the Casimir Effect in weak gravitational field background, which has been proposed and further generalized in the literature. A trick originally used to simplify calculations is shown to lead to a wrong value for the energy shift, and by performing explicit mode expansion we arrive at an unexpected result: null gravitational correction even at order $(M/R)^2$, in opposition to earlier results.

In this manuscript we compute corrections to the global Casimir effect at zero and finite temperature due to Rainbow's Gravity (parametrized by $ξ$). For this we use the solutions for the scalar field with mass $m$ in the deformed Schwarzschild background and the corresponding quantized energies of the system, which represent the stationary states of the field and yield the stable part of the quantum vacuum energy. The analysis is made here by considering the limit for which the source mass, $M$, approaches zero, in order to verify the effects on the global Casimir effect in mini black holes near to the Planck scale, $ω_P$. We find a singular behavior for the regularized vacuum energy at zero temperature and for all the corresponding thermodynamic quantities when $m^2=ω^2_P/ξ$, what can be seen as the limit of validity of the model. Furthermore, we show that the remnant Casimir tension over the event horizon in the limit $M\to 0$ is finite for any temperature and all the space of parameters. In fact we show that the remnant tension receives no corrections from Rainbow's Gravity. This points to the fact that such a behavior may be an universal property of this kind of system.

In this paper we find analytical expressions for thermodynamic quantities of scalar (tensor) and vector unparticle static black holes. We also find rotating solutions to these systems and analyse their thermodynamics. First we consider the static case with a spherically symmetric source for both the vector and scalar (tensor) unparticles. We obtain thus analytical expressions to the principal thermodynamic quantities: Hawking temperature, entropy, heat capacity and free energy. For the scalar (tensor) case we find that the black hole presents a residual value for the entropy when its radius goes to zero but the other thermodynamic quantities give, for any horizon radius, a thermodynamically unstable behavior similar to the standard black hole. For the vector case we find a richer structure in the region in which the horizon radius is less than the characteristic length of the unparticle theory. We identify a phase transition and a region where the black hole can be thermodynamically stable. Following, we show that the mentioned modifications in the standard gravity are formally similar to those ones present in the black holes with quintessence. With this we also show, notwithstanding, that the unparticles cannot be a source of quintessence. By using this similarity we find two different rotating solutions to the unparticle black holes based on works by Ghosh and Toshmatov {\it et al}. For both cases we compute the Hawking temperature and in the ungravity dominated regime we find, as in the static cases, a fractalization of the event horizon. For the Gosh-like solution the fractal dimension depends on the polar angle and on the rotation of the source. For the Toshmatov-like one it is equal to the static case and therefore the fractalization is not dependent on the rotation of the source.

Our framework is the Kerr spacetime in the presence of quintessence and massive gravitons. The high and low temperature regimes are especially analysed in order to distinguish the main contributions. For instance, in the high temperature regime, we show that the force between the plates is repulsive and grows with both the quintessence and the massive gravitons. Regarding the Casimir entropy, our results are in agreement with the Nernst heat theorem and therefore confirm the third law of thermodynamics in the present scenario.

We obtain the exact (confluent Heun) solutions to the massive scalar field in a Gravity's Rainbow Schwarzschild metric. With these solutions at hand, we study the Hawking radiation resulting from the tunneling rate through the event horizon. We show that the emission spectrum obeys non-extensive statistics and is halted when a certain mass remnant is reached. Next, we infer constraints on the rainbow parameters from recent LHC particle physics experiments and Hubble STIS astrophysics measurements. Finally, we study the low frequency limit in order to find the modified energy spectrum around the source.

We calculate the Casimir energy of a massless scalar field in a cavity formed by nearby parallel plates orbiting a rotating spherical body surrounded by quintessence, investigating the influence of the gravitational field on that energy, at zero temperature. This influence includes the effects due to the spacetime dragging caused by the source rotation as well as those ones due to the quintessence. We show that the energy depends on all the involved parameters, as source mass, angular momentum and quintessence state parameter, for any radial coordinate and polar angle. We show that at the north pole the Casimir energy is not influenced by the quintessential matter. At the equatorial plane, when the quintessence is canceled, the result obtained in the literature is recovered. Finally, constraints in the quintessence parameters are obtained from the uncertainty in the current measurements of Casimir effect.

Afterwards, we consider the addition of a scalar potential with a Coulomb-type and a linear confining term and completely solve the Klein-Gordon equations for each configuration. Finally, assuming rigid-wall boundary conditions, we find the Landau levels when the linear defect is itself magnetized. Remarkably, our analysis reveals that the Landau quantization occurs even in the absence of gauge fields provided the string is endowed with spin.

The procedure consists in calculating the solution and the energy eigenvalues of a massive scalar field around that source, considering the weak-field regimen. From this result, we obtain expressions for an spatially variable fine structure constant by considering suitable modifications in the involved parameters admitting some scenarios of semi-classical and quantum gravities. Constraints on free parameters of the approached theories are calculated from astrophysical observations of the emission spectra of a white dwarf. Such constraints are finally compared with those ones obtained in the literature.

In this paper we study the effects associated to quantum vacuum fluctuations of vectorial perturbations of the Abelian SU(2) Yang-Mills field in a static and homogeneous chromomagnetic-like background field, at zero temperature. We use periodic and antiperiodic boundary conditions in order to calculate the Casimir energy by means of the frequency sum technique and of the regularization method based on zeta functions, analyzing its behavior in the weak and strong coupling regimes. We compare the obtained results with the similar ones found for scalar and spinor fields placed in an ordinary magnetic field background. We show that only in the weak coupling regime the non-trivial topology of the system encoded in the antiperiodic boundary conditions changes the nature of the Casimir force with respect to the periodic ones. Considering the weak coupling scenario, we show that the introduction of a third polarization state in the perturbations makes manifest the effects on the Casimir energy due to the coupling with the chromomagnetic-like background field, for both the boundary conditions. Finally, in the strong coupling regime, in which the quantum vacuum is not stable due to the Nielsen-Olesen instabilities, we evaluate the effects of a compact extra dimension on its stabilization.

In this manuscript we show that the geometrical localization mechanism implies a four dimensional mass for the photon. The consistence of the model provides a mass given exactly by $m_γ=\sqrt{R}/4$ where $R$ is the Ricci scalar. As a consequence, the cosmological photon has a mass related to the vacuum solution of the Einstein equation. At the present age of the universe we have a dS vacuum with $R=4Λ$, where Lambda is a positive cosmological constant. With this we find that $m_γ\approx 2\times 10^{-69}$ kg, which is below the present experimental upper bounds, and such correction may be observed in the next years with more precise measurements. By considering the value of $R$ inside some astrophysical sources and environments we find that the bound is also satisfied. The experimental verification of this mass, beyond pointing to the existence of extra dimensions, would imply in a fundamental change in cosmology, astrophysics and in particle physics since the same mechanism is valid for non-abelian gauge fields.

In this paper we study the vacuum quantum fluctuations of the stationary modes of an uncharged scalar field with mass $m$ around a Schwarzschild black hole with mass $M$, at zero and non-zero temperatures. The procedure consists of calculating the energy eigenvalues starting from the exact solutions found for the dynamics of the scalar field, considering a frequency cutoff in which the particle is not absorbed by the black hole. From this result, we obtain the exterior contributions for the vacuum energy associated to the stationary states of the scalar field, by considering the half-summing of the levels of energy and taking into account the respective degeneracies, in order to better capture the nontrivial topology of the black hole spacetime. Then we use the Riemann's zeta function to regularize the vacuum energy thus found. Such a regularized quantity is the Casimir energy, whose analytic computation we show to yield a convergent series. The Casimir energy obtained does not take into account any boundaries artificially imposed on the system, just the nontrivial spacetime topology associated to the source and its singularity. We suggest that this latter manifests itself through the vacuum tension calculated on the event horizon. We also investigate the problem by considering the thermal corrections via Helmholtz free energy calculation, computing the Casimir internal energy, the corresponding tension on the event horizon, the Casimir entropy, and the thermal capacity of the regularized quantum vacuum, analyzing their behavior at low and high temperatures, pointing out the thermodynamic instability of the system in the considered regime, i.e., $mM\ll 1$.

In this paper we compute the corrections to the black-body force (BBF) potential due to spacetime geometry and topology. This recently discovered attractive force on neutral atoms is caused by the thermal radiation emitted from black bodies and here we investigate it in relativistic gravitational systems with spherical and cylindrical symmetries. For some astrophysical objects we find that the corrected black-body potential is greater than the flat case, showing that this kind of correction can be quite relevant when curved spaces are considered. Then we consider four cases: The Schwarzschild spacetime, the global monopole, the non-relativistic infinity cylinder and the static cosmic string. For the spherically symmetric case of a massive body, we find that two corrections appear: One due to the gravitational modification of the temperature and the other due to the modification of the solid angle subtended by the atom. We apply the found results to a typical neutron star and to the Sun. For the global monopole, the modification in the black-body potential is of topological nature and it is due to the central solid angle deficit that occurs in the spacetime generated by that object. In the cylindrical case, which is locally flat, no gravitational correction to the temperature exists, as in the global monopole case. However, we find the curious fact that the BBF depends on the topology of the spacetime through the modification of the azimuthal angle and therefore of the solid angle. For the static cosmic string we find that the force is null for the zero thickness case.
