An analytical study of the disease COVID-19 in Colombia was carried out using mathematical models such as Susceptible-Exposed-Infectious-Removed (SEIR), Logistic Regression (LR), and a machine learning method called Polynomial Regression Method. Previous analysis has been performed on the daily number of cases, deaths, infected people, and people who were exposed to the virus, all of them in a timeline of 550 days. Moreover, it has made the fitting of infection spread detailing the most efficient and optimal methods with lower propagation error and the presence of statistical biases. Finally, four different prevention scenarios were proposed to evaluate the ratio of each one of the parameters related to the disease.

Then we use the deformation cohomology of pre-Lie algebroids to study pre-Lie infinitesimal deformations and extension of pre-Lie $n$-deformations to pre-Lie $(n+1)$-deformations of a commutative associative algebroid. Next we develop the theory of Dubrovin's dualities of $F$-algebroids with eventual identities and use Nijenhuis operators on $F$-algebroids to construct new $F$-algebroids. Finally we introduce the notion of pre-$F$-algebroids, which is a generalization of $F$-manifolds with compatible flat connections. Dubrovin's dualities of pre-$F$-algebroids with eventual identities, Nijenhuis operators on pre-$F$-algebroids and their applications to integral systems are discussed.

When combined with the huge collecting area of the ELT, MOSAIC will be the most effective and flexible Multi-Object Spectrograph (MOS) facility in the world, having both a high multiplex and a multi-Integral Field Unit (Multi-IFU) capability. It will be the fastest way to spectroscopically follow-up the faintest sources, probing the reionisation epoch, as well as evaluating the evolution of the dwarf mass function over most of the age of the Universe. MOSAIC will be world-leading in generating an inventory of both the dark matter (from realistic rotation curves with MOAO fed NIR IFUs) and the cool to warm-hot gas phases in z=3.5 galactic haloes (with visible wavelenth IFUs). Galactic archaeology and the first massive black holes are additional targets for which MOSAIC will also be revolutionary. MOAO and accurate sky subtraction with fibres have now been demonstrated on sky, removing all low Technical Readiness Level (TRL) items from the instrument. A prompt implementation of MOSAIC is feasible, and indeed could increase the robustness and reduce risk on the ELT, since it does not require diffraction limited adaptive optics performance. Science programmes and survey strategies are currently being investigated by the Consortium, which is also ho** to welcome a few new partners in the next two years.

In this article we present and describe a notion of "logical perfection". We extract the notion of "perfection" from the contemporary logical concept of categoricity. Categoricity (in power) has become in the past half century a main driver of ideas in model theory, both mathematically (stability theory may be regarded as a way of approximating categoricity) and philosophically. In the past two decades, categoricity notions have started to overlap with more classical notions of robustness and smoothness. These have been crucial in various parts of mathematics since the nineteenth century. We postulate and present the category of logical perfection. We draw on various notions of perfection from mathematics of the 19th and 20th centuries and then trace the relation to the concept of categoricity in power as a logical notion of what a "mathematically perfect" structure is.

The first is the classical problem presented by Darboux and later solved by Halphen concerning finding infinite number of double orthogonal surfaces in $\mathbb{R}^3$. The second is a problem in general relativity about gravitational instanton in Bianchi IX metric space. The third problem stems from the new take on the moduli of enhanced elliptic curves called Gauss-Manin connection in disguise developed by one of the authors and finally in the last problem Darboux-Halphen system emerges from the associative algebra on the tangent space of a Frobenius manifold.

The subject of this paper is the big quantum cohomology rings of symplectic isotropic Grassmannians $\text{IG}(2, 2n)$. We show that these rings are regular. In particular, by "generic smoothness", we obtain a conceptual proof of generic semisimplicity of the big quantum cohomology for $\text{IG}(2, 2n)$. Further, by a general result of Claus Hertling, the regularity of these rings implies that they have a description in terms of isolated hypersurface singularities, which we show in this case to be of type $A_{n-1}$. By the homological mirror symmetry conjecture, these results suggest the existence of a very special full exceptional collection in the derived category of coherent sheaves on $\text{IG}(2, 2n)$. Such a collection is constructed in the appendix by Alexander Kuznetsov.

This paper aims at providing aperture corrections for emission lines in a sample of spiral galaxies from the Calar Alto Legacy Integral Field Area Survey (CALIFA) database. In particular, we explore the behavior of the log([OIII]5007/Hbeta)/([NII]6583/Halpha) (O3N2) and log[NII]6583/Halpha (N2) flux ratios since they are closely connected to different empirical calibrations of the oxygen abundances in star forming galaxies.
We compute median growth curves of Halpha, Halpha/Hbeta, O3N2 and N2 up to 2.5R_50 and 1.5 disk R_eff. The growth curves simulate the effect of observing galaxies through apertures of varying radii. The median growth curve of the Halpha/Hbeta ratio monotonically decreases from the center towards larger radii, showing for small apertures a maximum value of ~10% larger than the integrated one. The median growth curve of N2 shows a similar behavior, decreasing from the center towards larger radii. No strong dependence is seen with the inclination, morphological type and stellar mass for these growth curves. Finally, the median growth curve of O3N2 increases monotonically with radius. However, at small radii it shows systematically higher values for galaxies of earlier morphological types and for high stellar mass galaxies.
Applying our aperture corrections to a sample of galaxies from the SDSS survey at 0.02<=z<=0.3 shows that the average difference between fiber-based and aperture corrected oxygen abundances, for different galaxy stellar mass and redshift ranges, reaches typically to ~11%, depending on the abundance calibration used. This average difference is found to be systematically biased, though still within the typical uncertainties of oxygen abundances derived from empirical calibrations. Caution must be exercised when using observations of galaxies for small radii (e.g. below 0.5R_eff) given the high dispersion shown around the median growth curves.

Abstract:
In this paper we will present an ongoing project which aims to use model theory as a suitable mathematical setting for studying the formalism of quantum mechanics. We will argue that this approach provides a geometric semantics for such formalism by means of establishing a (non-commutative) duality between certain algebraic and geometric objects.

We describe and discuss the selection procedure and statistical properties of the galaxy sample used by the Calar Alto Legacy Integral Field Area Survey (CALIFA), a public legacy survey of 600 galaxies using integral field spectroscopy. The CALIFA "mother sample" was selected from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) DR7 photometric catalogue to include all galaxies with an r-band isophotal major axis between 45" and 79.2" and with a redshift 0.005 < z < 0.03. The mother sample contains 939 objects, 600 of which will be observed in the course of the CALIFA survey. The selection of targets for observations is based solely on visibility and thus keeps the statistical properties of the mother sample. By comparison with a large set of SDSS galaxies, we find that the CALIFA sample is representative of galaxies over a luminosity range of -19 > Mr > -23.1 and over a stellar mass range between 10^9.7 and 10^11.4Msun. In particular, within these ranges, the diameter selection does not lead to any significant bias against - or in favour of - intrinsically large or small galaxies. Only below luminosities of Mr = -19 (or stellar masses < 10^9.7Msun) is there a prevalence of galaxies with larger isophotal sizes, especially of nearly edge-on late-type galaxies, but such galaxies form < 10% of the full sample. We estimate volume-corrected distribution functions in luminosities and sizes and show that these are statistically fully compatible with estimates from the full SDSS when accounting for large-scale structure. We also present a number of value-added quantities determined for the galaxies in the CALIFA sample. We explore different ways of characterizing the environments of CALIFA galaxies, finding that the sample covers environmental conditions from the field to genuine clusters. We finally consider the expected incidence of active galactic nuclei among CALIFA galaxies.
