What is the topology of a Schwarzschild black hole?
Abstract: We investigate the topology of Schwarzschild's black hole through the immersion of this space-time in spaces of higher dimension. Through the immersions of Kasner and Fronsdal we calculate the extension of the Schwarzschild's black hole.

Topological Properties from Einstein's Equations?
Abstract: In this work we propose a new procedure for to extract global information of a space-time. We considered a space-time immersed in a higher dimensional space and we formulate the equations of Einstein through of the Frobenius conditions to immersion. Through of an algorithm and the implementation into algebraic computing system we calculate normal vectors from the immersion to find out the second f… ▽ More

Topological and Geometrical Properties of Brane-Worlds
Abstract: We study the geometrical and topological properties of the bulk (environment space) when we modify the geometry or topology of a brane-world. Through the characterization of a spherically symmetric space-time as a local brane-world immersed into six dimensional pseudo-Euclidean spaces, with different signatures of the bulk, we investigate the existence of a topological difference in the immersed b… ▽ More

The Deformable Universe
Abstract: The concept of smooth deformations of a Riemannian manifolds, recently evidenced by the solution of the Poincaré conjecture, is applied to Einstein's gravitational theory and in particular to the standard FLRW cosmology. We present a brief review of the deformation of Riemannian geometry, showing how such deformations can be derived from the Einstein-Hilbert dynamical principle. We show that such… ▽ More

Embedding Versus Immersion in General Relativity
Abstract: We briefly discuss the concepts of immersion and embedding of space-times in higher-dimensional spaces. We revisit the classical work by Kasner in which he constructs a model of immersion of the Schwarzschild exterior solution into a six-dimensional pseudo-Euclidean manifold. We show that, from a physical point of view, this model is not entirely satisfactory since the causal structure of the im… ▽ More

Geometry of Dark Energy
Abstract: The acceleration of the universe is described as a dynamical effect of the extrinsic curvature of space-time. By extending previous results, the extrinsic curvature is regarded as an independent spin-2 field, determined by a set of non-linear equations similar to Einstein's equations. In this framework, we investigate some cosmological consequences of this class of scenarios and test its observa… ▽ More

On the Nature of the Cosmological Constant Problem
Abstract: General relativity postulates the Minkowski space-time to be the standard flat geometry against which we compare all curved space-times and the gravitational ground state where particles, quantum fields and their vacuum states are primarily conceived. On the other hand, experimental evidences show that there exists a non-zero cosmological constant, which implies in a deSitter space-time, not com… ▽ More

The Embedding of Schwarzschild in Braneworld
Abstract: The braneworlds models were inspired partly by Kaluza-Klein's theory, where both the gravitational and the gauge fields are obtained from the geometry of a higher dimensional space. The positive aspects of these models consist in perspectives of modifications it could bring in to particle physics, such as: unification in a TeV scale, quantum gravity in this scale and deviation of Newton's law fo… ▽ More

On the Stability of Black Holes at the LHC
Abstract: The eventual production of mini black holes by proton-proton collisions at the LHC is predicted by theories with large extra dimensions resolvable at the Tev scale of energies. It is expected that these black holes evaporate shortly after its production as a consequence of the Hawking radiation. We show that for theories based on the ADS/CFT correspondence, the produced black holes may have an u… ▽ More

Mathematical Support to Braneworld Theory
Abstract: The braneworld theory appear with the purpose of solving the problem of the hierarchy of the fundamental interactions. The perspectives of the theory emerge as a new physics, for example, deviation of the law of Newton's gravity. Covariant Analysis of Experimental Constraints on the Brane-world
Abstract: Some observational constraints on the brane-world based on predictions from specific models in five dimensions, have been recently reported, both on local and cosmological scales. In order to identify the origins of these constraints, the equations of motion of the brane-world are translated to the most general, model-independent (or "covariant"), formulation of the theory, based only on the Ein… ▽ More

On the Geometry of Dark Energy
Abstract: Experimental evidence suggests that we live in a spatially flat, accelerating universe composed of roughly one-third of matter (baryonic + dark) and two-thirds of a negative-pressure dark component, generically called dark energy. The presence of such energy not only explains the observed accelerating expansion of the Universe but also provides the remaining piece of information connecting the i… ▽ More

Fifth force from fifth dimension: a comparison between two different approaches
Abstract: We investigate the dynamics of particles moving in a spacetime augmented by one extra dimension in the context of the induced matter theory of gravity. We examine the appearance of a fifth force as an effect caused by the extra dimension and discuss two different approaches to the fifth force formalism. We then give two examples of application of both approaches by considering the case of a Ricc… ▽ More

On Schwarzschild's Topology in Brane-Worlds
Abstract: The topological structure of Schwarzschild's space-time and its maximal analytic extension are investigated in context of brane-worlds. Using the embedding coordinates, these geometries are seen as different states of the evolution of a single brane-world. Comparing the topologies and the embeddings it is shown that this evolution must be followed by a signature change in the bulk.

The accelerating universe in brane-world cosmology
Abstract: The standard Friedmann universe embedded in a five dimensional and constant curvature bulk is examined without any a priori junction condition between the brane and the bulk. It is shown that the extrinsic curvature of the brane can be… ▽ More
