The results of an analysis of changes in the characteristics of atmospheric centers of action (ACAs) in the Northern (NH) and Southern (SH) hemispheres using results of simulations with the CMIP5 and CMIP6 ensembles of climate models are presented. The ability of models to simulate ACA features is estimated for the historical scenario in comparison with ERA5 reanalysis data. The projected changes are evaluated under RCP8.5 and SSP5-8.5 scenarios for CMIP5 and CMIP6 models, respectively. The ACA intensity is evaluated that defined as the difference in sea level pressure averaged over the ACA region and the entire hemisphere. In NH, reanalysis and models show greater intensity of subtropical oceanic anticyclonic ACAs in summer than in winter. The opposite is found for the intensity of NH subpolar oceanic cyclonic ACAs. The interannual variability of the ACA intensity in winter is generally greater than in summer. In SH, the season with greater intensity of oceanic anticyclonic and cyclonic ACAs and its interannual variability varies from ocean to ocean. CMIP5 and CMIP6 models show substantial changes of ACAs characteristics in the XXI century. More significant trends in the strengthening of ACAs in the 21st century appear in the SH, especially in the winter seasons. The most consistent weakening trends are found over continents for winter North American maximum and the summer Asian minimum. For the winter Siberian maximum, the weakening trend is found more pronounced in CMIP6 models than in CMIP5.

Quantitative estimates of the contributions of the anthropogenic forcing, characterized by changes in the radiative forcing of atmospheric greenhouse gases (CO2, in particular), and solar activity variations to the trends of the global surface temperature on secular temporal horizons are obtained with the aid of autoregressive models from simulations with climate models of the CMIP6 ensemble and from long-term observational data since the 19th century. The results for the simulations with climate models characterized by low, medium and high temperature sensitivity to changes in the CO2 content are compared. It is found, in particular, that the estimates from observation data revealing the determinative contribution of the CO2 content to the global surface temperature trends on half-century and century-long time intervals are most consistent with the estimates from simulations with the climate model with the lowest sensitivity of the global surface temperature to doubling the CO2 atmospheric content.

The results of an analysis of temperature variations in the mesopause region based on long-term measurements of hydroxyl airglow at the Zvenigorod Scientific Station of the A.M. Obukhov Institute of Atmospheric Physics RAS (ZSS IAP RAS) in 1960-2024 in comparison with variations of surface temperature characterizing global-scale climate changes are presented. Along with temperature variations in the mesopause region, two versions of temperature variations in the mesopause region, normalized to the same level of solar activity, were analyzed. Quantitative estimates of a strong decrease in temperature in the mesopause region over the past decades in winter against the background of a global increase in surface temperature have been obtained. It was noted that significant coherence of long-term variations for temperature in the mesopause region with the surface temperature in the Northern Hemisphere with the use of cross-wavelet analysis, what was not previously evident in data for a shorter time interval. The possibility of such coherence was predicted in (Mokhov et al., 2017) under the continuation of global warming based on the results of model simulations for the 20-21 centuries, taking into account anthropogenic forcing. It was not previously manifested from observational data for a shorter time interval. Along with long-term trends, features of a sharp decrease in temperature in the mesopause region in the 1970s with its synchronicity with the known shift in surface climate regimes associated with El Niño events were analyzed. The results of cross-wavelet analysis using data obtained at the ZSS IAP RAS for the time interval 1960-2024 indicate a more significant connection between temperature variations in the mesopause region and El Nino indices in recent decades.

Particular attention is paid to the most likely transition in 2024 from an El Nino phase at the beginning of the year to a La Nina phase at the end of the year, with the greatest probability of high temperatures and dry conditions in European Russia during the spring and summer months, as in 2010. The predictability levels of regional climate anomalies using different El Nino indices are compared. The relationship of the noted seasonal anomalies with atmospheric blockings is considered, taking into account the different phases of the key modes of climate variability like El Nino phenomena and the Pacific Decadal Oscillation. The natural fluxes of CO2 and CH4 into the atmosphere from the territory of Russia in the 21st century have been analyzed using the results of calculations with the ensemble of global climate models of the international project CMIP6. Estimates of natural CO2 fluxes for Russian regions differ greatly for different models. Their values for the beginning of the 21st century range from -1 to 1 GtC/yr. In the 21st century the differences in model estimates of fluxes grow and at the end of the 21st century under the scenario with the largest anthropogenic impacts SSP5-8.5 are in the range from -2.5 to 2.5 GtC/year. Estimates of natural methane emissions to the atmosphere from the territory of Russia also differ greatly for different models. Present-day methane emissions are estimated in the range from 10 to 35 MtCH4/year, while the growth in the 21st century may reach 300%. Ensemble model calculations show general trends for changes in natural greenhouse gas fluxes. Most CMIP6 ensemble models are characterized by a maximum of CO2 uptake by terrestrial ecosystems and its further reduction by the end of the 21st century, while natural methane emissions to the atmosphere for all models and scenarios of anthropogenic forcing grow throughout the 21st century. The cumulative temperature potential of natural CO2 fluxes on the territory of Russia in the 21st century is estimated, depending on the scenario of anthropogenic impacts, from -0.3 to 0.1 K, and the warming-accelerating impact of natural CH4 emissions is estimated in the range of 0.03-0.09 K.

A general exact weak solution to the nonlinear equation of the conservation of the absolute vorticity in a thin layer of an incompressible medium on a rotating sphere is proposed. It takes into account the helicity of the point vortices and the non-uniformity of the depth of the layer. This is used to develop a model of the observed interactions of spiral atmospheric vortices. The fusion of two point helical vortices (HVs) on the rotating sphere is considered. We also analyze the prognostic applicability of the dynamics of the HVs for modeling the abrupt changes observed in the trajectories of tropical cyclones and their landfall in comparison with the traditional approach. The analytical condition for chiral symmetry violation related to the direction of the movement of the center of a helical cyclone is obtained.

The long-range transport of biomass burning products from Siberian wildfires into the Arctic atmosphere during the period of 2000-2019 is estimated. An analysis of the characteristics of forest fires over the past two decades revealed a significant increase in radiation power of an average Siberian wildfire. A joint analysis of fire activity in Siberian forests, as well as the contents of the black carbon (BC) and carbon monoxide (CO) contents in the Arctic atmosphere, indicates that extreme fire events cause the development of regional anomalies in BC and CO. Correlation between the anomalies of BC (CO) over the Russian segment of the Arctic and the number of Siberian wildfires is found to be statistically significant. Using a linear regression, an estimates of the sensitivity of the total BC content and in the volume mixing ratio of CO to the increase in the number of fires. The characteristic features and mechanisms of the formation of a deep ozone mini-hole (OMH) in winter 2015/2016 over Siberia were carried out using AIRS and CALIOP satellite data. The depletion in the total column ozone was caused mainly by a strong decrease in ozone mixing ratio in the lower stratosphere, reaching 50% near the pressure level of 70 hPa. The formation of OMH was closely related to the dynamic factors including an increase in the tropopause height and advection in the troposphere of ozone-depleted subtropical air, which were associated with atmospheric blocking. Also, an important factor of OMH formation was ozone decrease in the stratosphere due to increased outflow of ozone from the area of the OMH. The contribution of chemical destruction of stratospheric ozone, due to catalytic reactions with halogen-containing compounds on the surface of polar stratospheric clouds to the OMH formation, was evaluated.

How strong are quantitative contributions of the key natural modes of climate variability and the anthropogenic factor characterized by the changes of the radiative forcing of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere to the trends of the surface air temperature at different latitudes of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres on various time intervals? Such contributions to trends are estimated here from observation data with the simplest empirical models. Trivariate autoregressive models are fitted to the data since the 19th century and used to assess the impact of the anthropogenic forcing together with different natural climate modes including Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation, El-Nino / Southern Oscillation, Interdecadal Pacific Oscillation, Pacific Decadal Oscillation, and Antarctic Oscillation. For relatively short intervals of the length of two or three decades, we note considerable contributions of the climate variability modes which are comparable to the contributions of the greenhouse gases and even exceed the latter. For longer intervals of about half a century and greater, the contributions of greenhouse gases dominate at all latitudes as follows from the present analysis of data for polar, middle and tropical regions.

The contribution of anthropogenic and natural greenhouse gases to the atmosphere from the territory of Russia, China, USA and Canada to global climate change under different scenarios of anthropogenic emissions in the 21st century has been assessed. It is shown that the consideration of the changes in climate conditions can affect the impact indicators of greenhouse gas emissions on the climate system, especially over long time horizons. In making decisions, it is necessary to take into account that the role of natural fluxes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere from the terrestrial ecosystems can change. For all the countries considered, the uptake of CO$_2$ by terrestrial ecosystems under all scenarios of anthropogenic impact begins to decrease in the second half of the 21st century, so its stabilizing effect may gradually lose importance. At the same time, methane emissions in all of the considered regions are increasing significantly. The net effect of these greenhouse gas natural fluxes in some cases can even lead to warming acceleration by the end of the 21 st century.

It is shown that the hydrodynamics equations for a thin spherical liquid layer are satisfied by the stream function of a pair of antipodal vortices-APV, in contrast to the stream function of a single point vortex on a sphere with a background of a uniform opposite sign vorticity. A simple zero solution of the equation of the absolute vorticity conservation is used for bypassing well-known nonlinear problem of a point vortices interaction with regular vorticity field and an exact solution for APVs dynamics problem on a rotating sphere is obtained. Due to this a new stable stationary solution for the dynamics of APV is obtained, which can model the dynamics of the global vortex structures such as atmospheric centers of action.

An exact correspondence is established between mathematical description of the single "elementary vortex" (EV)velocity on the sphere (Zermelo,1902;Bogomolov,1977) and the Dirac magnetic monopole (DMM) vector potential (Dirac, 1931). Similar analogy with DMM was noted only for the vortices in quantum fluid He-3A (Blaha,1976;Volovik,Mineev,1976). Singular EV on a sphere is usually considered using compensating vortex field, uniformly distributed over the sphere. It is necessary to meet the Gauss-Kelvin theorem with zero integral vorticity over the sphere. However since Bogomolov (1977)(see also Dritshel,Boatto,2015)uniform vorticity impact on dynamics is neglected when only the velocity field of singular EV is taken into account. It is not true because the hydrodynamic equations do not allow existence of a solution in the form of an isolated EV but allow solutions in the form of the antipodal EV pairs. It is also suggested the possibility of DMM existence only in the form of the point magnetic dipoles, consisting of two DMM with different signs of the magnetic charge.

We get point vortices dynamics equations on a rotating sphere surface directly from the hydrodynamic equations as representing their weak exact solution contrary to the conventional case of the use of a kinematic relationship between a given singular vortex field and velocity field. It is first time that the effect of a sphere rotation on the vortices interaction is accounted for in exact form. We show that only the stream function of a vortex pair of antipodal vortices (APV), and only it satisfies the original three-dimensional hydrodynamics equations on a sphere. We prove that only APV pair with two point vortices in the diameter-conjugated points of a sphere with equal by quantity but different sign circulations may be correctly considered as an elementary (stationary, not self-affecting) singular point object on a sphere. We suggest using the axis connecting the two point vortices in an APV for describing of an axis of rotation of the global vortices introduced in (Barrett, 1958) to reflect the observed global rotation of atmospheric masses with the rotation axes not coinciding with the planet rotation axis and precessing about it. Up to now, the question about interaction of global vortices corresponding to such solutions with rotations about different axis was not even posed. This is the first model describing interaction of the Barrett-type global vortices corresponding to atmospheric centers of action (ACA). The new steady-state and its stability conditions for N=2 are obtained and used for the analysis of coupled cyclone-anticyclone ACAs over oceans in the Northern Hemisphere. On the base of corresponding exact solutions, we show acceptability of modelling of the stable blocks of splitting flow type when in line with the exact accounting for the sphere rotation, we define also conditions of the polar vortices affecting on the stability boundaries of the block modes.
