Future generations of mobile networks call for concurrent sensing and communication functionalities in the same hardware and/or spectrum. Compared to communication, sensing services often suffer from limited coverage, due to the high path loss of the reflected signal and the increased infrastructure requirements. To provide a more uniform quality of service, distributed multiple input multiple output (D-MIMO) systems deploy a large number of distributed nodes and efficiently control them, making distributed integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) possible. In this paper, we investigate ISAC in D-MIMO through the lens of different design architectures and deployments, revealing both conflicts and synergies. In addition, simulation and demonstration results reveal both opportunities and challenges towards the implementation of ISAC in D-MIMO.

Metal thin films on soft polymers provide a unique opportunity for resistance-based strain sensors. A mechanical mismatch between the conductive film and the flexible substrate causes cracks to open and close, changing the electrical resistance as a function of strain. However, the very randomness of the formation, shape, length, orientation, and distance between adjacent cracks limits the sensing range as well as repeatability. Herein, we present a breakthrough: the Zerogap Strain Sensor, whereby lithography eliminates randomness and violent tearing process inherent in conventional crack sensors and allows for short periodicity between gaps with gentle sidewall contacts, critical in high strain sensing enabling operation over an unprecedently wide range. Our sensor achieves a gauge factor of over 15,000 at εext=18%, the highest known value. With the uniform gaps of three-to-ten thousand nanometer widths characterized by periodicity and strain, this approach has far reaching implications for future strain sensors whose range is limited only by that of the flexible substrate, with non-violent operations that always remain below the tensile limit of the metal.

6G promises a paradigm shift in which positioning and sensing are inherently integrated, enhancing not only the communication performance but also enabling location- and context-aware services. Historically, positioning and sensing have been viewed through the lens of cost and performance trade-offs, implying an escalated demand for resources, such as radio, physical, and computational resources, for improved performance. However, 6G goes beyond this traditional perspective to encompass a set of broader values, namely sustainability, inclusiveness, and trustworthiness. From a joint industrial/academic perspective, this paper aims to shed light on these important value indicators and their relationship with the conventional key performance indicators in the context of positioning and sensing.

In this work, we study the 1+1 longitudinal acceleration expansion of hot and dense quark matter as a conducting relativistic fluid with the electric conductivity $σ$. The plasma has embedded in the presence of electric and magnetic fields which are perpendicular together in the transverse plane. In order to be more realistic, we generalize the Bjorken solution, which includes the acceleration effects on the fluid expansion. We apply a perturbation fashion in initial condition to solve the relativistic magneto-hydrodynamics equations. This procedure leads us to achieve the exact algebraic expressions for both electric and magnetic fields. We also find the effects of the electromagnetic fields on the acceleration of the fluid, and the correction of energy density obtained from the magneto-hydrodynamics solutions.

We argue that the existence of an inhomogeneous external magnetic field can lead to radial flow in transverse plane. Our aim is to show how the introduction of a magnetic field generalizes the Bjorken flow. We investigate the effect of an inhomogeneous weak external magnetic field on the transverse expansion of in-viscid fluid created in high energy nuclear collisions. In order to simplify our calculation and compare with Gubser model, we consider the fluid under investigation to be produced in central collisions, at small impact parameter; azimuthal symmetry has been considered. In our model, we assume an inhomogeneous external magnetic field following the power-law decay in proper time and having radial inhomogeneity perpendicular to the radial velocity of the in-viscid fluid in the transverse plane; then the space time evolution of the transverse expansion of the fluid is obtained. We also show how the existence of an inhomogeneous external magnetic field modifies the energy density. Finally we use the solutions for the transverse velocity and energy density in the presence of a weak magnetic field, to estimate the transverse momentum spectrum of protons and pions emerging from the Magneto-hydrodynamic solutions.

The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is an application-layer control protocol for creating, modifying and terminating multimedia sessions. An open issue is the control of overload that occurs when a SIP server lacks sufficient CPU and memory resources to process all messages. We prove that the problem of overload control in SIP network with a set of n servers and limited resources is in the form of NP-hard. This paper proposes a Load-Balanced Call Admission Controller (LB-CAC), based on a heuristic mathematical model to determine an optimal resource allocation in such a way that maximizes call admission rates regarding the limited resources of the SIP servers. LB-CAC determines the optimal "call admission rates" and "signaling paths" for admitted calls along optimal allocation of CPU and memory resources of the SIP servers through a new linear programming model. This happens by acquiring some critical information of SIP servers. An assessment of the numerical and experimental results demonstrates the efficiency of the proposed method.

In this research work, a novel framework is pro- posed as an efficient successor to traditional imaging methods for breast cancer detection in order to decrease the computational complexity. In this framework, the breast is devided into seg- ments in an iterative process and in each iteration, the one having the most probability of containing tumor with lowest possible resolution is selected by using suitable decision metrics. After finding the smallest tumor-containing segment, the resolution is increased in the detected tumor-containing segment, leaving the other parts of the breast image with low resolution. Our framework is applied on the most common used beamforming techniques, such as delay and sum (DAS) and delay multiply and sum (DMAS) and according to simulation results, our framework can decrease the computational complexity significantly for both DAS and DMAS without imposing any degradation on accuracy of basic algorithms. The amount of complexity reduction can be determined manually or automatically based on two proposed methods that are described in this framework.

This paper introduces a framework for super-resolution of scalable video based on compressive sensing and sparse representation of residual frames in reconnaissance and surveillance applications. We exploit efficient compressive sampling and sparse reconstruction algorithms to super-resolve the video sequence with respect to different compression rates. We use the sparsity of residual information in residual frames as the key point in devising our framework. Moreover, a controlling factor as the compressibility threshold to control the complexity-performance trade-off is defined. Numerical experiments confirm the efficiency of the proposed framework in terms of the compression rate as well as the quality of reconstructed video sequence in terms of PSNR measure. The framework leads to a more efficient compression rate and higher video quality compared to other state-of-the-art algorithms considering performance-complexity trade-offs.

We assume that the magnetic field is perpendicular to the reaction plane and then we solve the coupled Maxwell and conservation equations in (1+1D) transverse flow, within the Bjorken scenario. We consider a QGP with infinite electrical conductivity. First, the magnetic effects on the QGP medium at mid-rapidity are investigated at leading order; then the time and space dependence of the energy density, velocity and magnetic field in the transverse plane of the ideal magnetized hot plasma are obtained.

We present an improved version of the ECHO-QGP numerical code, which self-consistently includes for the first time the effects of electromagnetic fields within the framework of relativistic magnetohydrodynamics (RMHD). We discuss results of its application in relativistic heavy-ion collisions in the limit of infinite electrical conductivity of the plasma. After reviewing the relevant covariant $3\!+\!1$ formalisms, we illustrate the implementation of the evolution equations in the code and show the results of several tests aimed at assessing the accuracy and robustness of the implementation. After providing some estimates of the magnetic fields arising in non-central high-energy nuclear collisions, we perform full RMHD simulations of the evolution of the Quark-Gluon Plasma in the presence of electromagnetic fields and discuss the results. In our ideal RMHD setup we find that the magnetic field develo** in non-central collisions does not significantly modify the elliptic-flow of the final hadrons. However, since there are uncertainties in the description of the pre-equilibrium phase and also in the properties of the medium, a more extensive survey of the possible initial conditions as well as the inclusion of dissipative effects are indeed necessary to validate this preliminary result.

We investigate some issues on renormalisability of non-anticommutative supersymmetric gauge theory related to field redefinitions. We study one loop corrections to $N=\frac{1}{2}$ supersymmetric $SU(N)\times U(1)$ gauge theory coupled to chiral matter in component formalism, and show the procedure which has been introduced for renormalisation is problematic because some terms which are needed for the renormalisability of theory are missed from the Lagrangian. In order to prove the theory is renormalisable, we redefine the gaugino and the auxiliary fields($λ, \bar F$), which result in a modified form of the Lagrangian in the component formalism. Then, we show the modified Lagrangian has extra terms which are necessary for renormalisability of non-anticommutative supersymmetric gauge field theories. Finally we prove $N = \frac{1}{2}$ supersymmetric gauge theory is renormalisable up to one loop corrections using standard method of renormalisation; besides, it is shown the effective action is gauge invariant.
