The hetero junction between the different materials often gives the rectification effect; e.g., pn junction is used for diode. On the other hand, the Josephson junction between the two superconductors is assumed to show symmetric response between the two directions of the current, i.e., the voltage drop $V$ is anti-symmetric with respect to the sign change of the current $I$. However, there should be an asymmetry between the states of charge accumulation on right and left sides of the Josephson junction, which can lead to the nonreciprocal responses. Here we demonstrate theoretically that nonreciprocal $I$-$V$ characteristic appears due to this charging energy difference both in the classical and quantum regimes. This result will pave a route to design and develop the Josephson diode.

The ground states of bosons have been classified into superfluid, Mott insulator, and bose glass. Recent experiments in two-dimensional superconductors strongly suggest the existence of the fourth quantum state of Cooper pairs, i.e., bose metal or quantum metal, where the resistivity remains constant at lowest temperature. However, its theoretical understanding remains unsettled. In this paper, we show theoretically that the bosons in the dilute limit subject to dissipation can lose the superfluidity and remain metallic, utilizing the Feynman's picture of superfluidity in the first quantized formulation. This result is relevant to the quantum vortices under an external magnetic field in two-dimensional superconductors with the finite resistivity of the normal core as the source of dissipation.

A mechanism for phonon Hall effect (PHE) in non-magnetic insulators under an external magnetic field is theoretically studied. PHE is known in (para)magnetic compounds, where the magnetic moments and spin-orbit interaction play an essential role. In sharp contrast, we here show that a non-zero Berry curvature of acoustic phonons is induced by an external magnetic field due to the correction to the adiabatic Born-Oppenheimer approximation. This results in the finite thermal Hall conductivity $κ_H$ in nonmagnetic band insulators. Our estimate of $κ_H$ for a simple model gives $κ_H \sim 1.0\times 10^{-5} $[W/Km] at $ B=10 $[T] and $ T=150 $[K].

Motivated by the realization of magnetic monopole of Berry curvature by the energy crossing point, we theoretically study the effect of magnetic monopole under a uniform electric field in the semiclassical dynamics, which is relevant to many physical situations such as relaxation through the diabolic point. We found that the competition between the backward scattering by the monopole magnetic field and the acceleration by the electric field leads to the bound state, i.e., capture of a particle near the monopole. Furthermore, the nonlinearity induced by the magnetic monopole leads to the chaotic behavior in the transient dynamics, i.e., the transient chaos. We computed characteristic quantities of the strange saddle which gives rise to the transient chaos, and verified that the abrupt bifurcation occurs as we tune the system parameter toward the parameter region in which the system is solvable.

We study theoretically the influence of Berry phase on the real-time dynamics of the single particle focusing on the diffusive dynamics, i.e., the time-dependence of the distribution function. Our model can be applied to the real-time dynamics of intraband relaxation and diffusion of optically excited excitons, trions or particle-hole pair. We found that the dynamics at the early stage is deeply influenced by the Berry curvatures in real-space ($B$), momentum-space ($Ω$), and also the crossed space between these two ($C$). For example, it is found that $Ω$ induces the rotation of the wave packet and causes the time-dependence of the mean square displacement of the particle to be linear in time $t$ at the initial stage; it is qualitatively different from the $t^3$ dependence in the absence of the Berry curvatures. It is also found that $Ω$ and $C$ modifies the characteristic time scale of the thermal equilibration of momentum distribution. Moreover, the dynamics under various combinations of $B$, $Ω$ and $C$ shows singular behaviors such as the critical slowing down or speeding up of the momentum equilibration and the reversals of the direction of rotations. The relevance of our model for time-resolved experiments in transition metal dichalcogenides is also discussed.

The X-ray luminosities in the 2--10 keV band for the two observations are nearly identical (LX $\approx$ 2$\times10^{41}$ ergs/s), but they are $\sim$35% larger than that measured in 1995 July by Terashima et al. An Fe K emission line is detected at $6.39\pm0.09$ keV (source rest frame) which is lower than the line energy $6.73^{+0.13}_{-0.12}$ keV in the 1995 observation. If we fit the Fe lines with a blend of two Gaussians centered at 6.39 keV and 6.73 keV, the intensity of the 6.7 keV line decreases, while the intensity of the 6.4 keV line increases, within an interval of 3.5 yr. This variability rules out thermal plasmas in the host galaxy as the origin of the ionized Fe line in this LLAGN. The detection and variability of the 6.4 keV line indicates that cold matter subtends a large solid angle viewed from the nucleus and that it is located within $\sim1$ pc from the nucleus. It could be identified with an optically thick standard accretion disk. If this is the case, a standard accretion disk is present at the Eddington ratio of $L_{\rm Bol}/L_{\rm Eddington} \sim 2\times10^{-3}$. A broad disk-line profile is not clearly seen and the structure of the innermost part of accretion disk remains unclear.

The X-ray light curve shows variability on a timescale of ~10^4 s with an amplitude of ~20%. The X-ray continuum is represented by a weakly absorbed (N_H~9x10^{20} {cm^{-2}) power-law with a photon index of 1.72+/-0.04, which is quite similar to Seyfert 1 galaxies with higher luminosities. A Fe Kalpha emission line is detected at 6.40^{+0.08}_{-0.06} keV (redshift corrected) and the equivalent width is 290+/-100 eV. The line width is unresolved. The narrower line width and larger equivalent width compared to Seyfert 1s imply that fluorescent Fe Kalpha emission from matter further out from the center than the accretion disk significantly contributes to the observed Fe Kalpha line. We suggest that fluorescent Fe Kalpha emission from the putative torus contributes to the observed Fe Kalpha line.

An iron K emission line is detected at 6.73+/-0.13 keV (rest frame) with an equivalent width of 490 +180/-190 eV and is statistically significant at more than 99.9 % confidence. The line center energy is consistent with Helium-like iron and is significantly higher than 6.4 keV which is expected from fluorescence by "cold" (or a lower ionization state of) iron. The iron line profile shows no significant red tail in contrast to Seyfert 1 galaxies although the statistics are limited. The line center energy, equivalent width, and profile are consistent with an origin in an ionized accretion disk. However the large mass accretion rate necessary to ionize the accretion disk is not consistent with the observed luminosity and normal accretion models.

Nearly 9 cycles of the periodic variation are seen; it shows no strong energy dependence and has an amplitude of about 15 per cent. Unlike most other well-studied Seyfert galaxies, there is no evidence for strong power-law red noise in the X-ray power spectrum of IRAS18325-5926. Scaling from the QPOs found in Galactic black hole candidates suggests that the mass of the black hole in IRAS18325-5926 is (6-40) million solar masses.
