This paper investigates first the four branches of BMS transformations, motivated by the classification into elliptic, parabolic, hyperbolic and loxodromic proposed a few years ago in the literature. We first prove that to each normal elliptic transformation of the complex variable zeta used in the metric for cuts of null infinity there corresponds a BMS supertranslation. We then study the conformal factor in the BMS transformation of the u variable as a function of the squared modulus of zeta. In the loxodromic and hyperbolic cases, the conformal factor is either monotonically increasing or monotonically decreasing as a function of the real variable given by the modulus of zeta. The Killing vector field of the Bondi metric is also studied in correspondence with the four admissible families of BMS transformations. Eventually, all BMS transformations are re-expressed in the homogeneous coordinates suggested by projective geometry. It is then found that BMS transformations are the restriction to a pair of unit circles of a more general set of transformations. Within this broader framework, the geometry of such transformations is studied by means of its Segre manifold.

This paper exploits the power of the Cayley-Dickson algebra to generate stationary rotating black hole solutions in one fell swoop. Specifically, we derive the nine-dimensional Myers-Perry solution with four independent angular momenta by using the Janis-Newman algorithm and Giampieri's simplification method, exploiting the octonion algebra. A general formula relating the dimension of the Cayley-Dickson algebra with the maximum number of angular momenta in each dimension is derived. Finally, we discuss the cut-off dimension for using the Cayley-Dickson construction along with the Janis-Newman algorithm for producing the rotating solutions.

Inspired by the recent work on the spacetime structure near generic black hole horizons [1], the near horizon charges for an explicit example in higher dimensions than four (d > 4), namely for the five dimensional Myers-Perry metric with two equal rotation parameter are found in Hamiltonian formalism. Finding the supertranslation and the one-form superrotation, it is proved that the Myers-Perry black hole with two equal rotation parameter a = b does not satisfy the gauge flatness condition due to the non-vanishing associated field strength in five dimensional spacetime. It is shown that as the near horizon limit of such a metric satisfies a specific set of boundary conditions, the near horizon algebra can be represented as an infinitely many copies of Heisenberg algebras as a generalisation to the Kerr case in four dimensions.

We show how we use the newly found conserved charges in the subleading orders of large-$r$ expansion of the BMS charges to define the gravitational memory at each order in the non-linearised gravitational theory. We also find the gravitational shift in the $r$ direction. It is shown that the longitudinal displacement at order $1/r$ is the relative radius change between two detectors derived by Strominger and Zhiboedov.

Abstract:
It is shown that adding hair like electric charge or angular momentum to the black hole decreases the amount of entropy emission. It is shown that adding hair like electric charge or angular momentum to the black hole decreases the amount of entropy emission. This motivates us to study the emission rate of entropy from black holes and conjecture a maximum limit (upper bound) on the rate of local entropy emission ($\dot{S}$) for thermal systems in four dimensional space time and argue that this upper bound is $\dot{S}\simeq k_{B} \sqrt{\frac{c^5}{\hbar G}}$. Also by considering Rènyi entropy, it is shown that Bekenstein-Hawking entropy leads to a maximum limit for the rate of entropy emission. We also suggest an upper bound on the surface gravity of the black holes which is called Planck surface gravity. Finally we obtain a relation between maximum rate of entropy emission, Planck surface gravity and Planck temperature of black holes.

We analyze Hawking radiation as perceived by a freely-falling observer and try to draw an inference about the region of origin of the Hawking quanta. To do so, first we calculate the energy density from the stress energy tensor, as perceived by a freely-falling observer. Then we compare this with the energy density computed from an effective temperature functional which depends on the state of the observer. The two ways of computing these quantities show a mismatch at the light ring outside the black hole horizon. To better understand this ambiguity, we show that even taking into account the (minor) breakdown of the adiabatic evolution of the temperature functional which has a peak in the same region of the mismatch, is not enough to remove it. We argue that the appearance of this discrepancy can be traced back to the process of particle creation by showing how the Wentzel--Kramers--Brillouin approximation for the field modes breaks down between the light ring at $3M$ and $4M$, with a peak at $r=3.3M$ exactly where the energy density mismatch is maximized. We hence conclude that these facts strongly support a scenario where the Hawking flux does originate from a "quantum atmosphere" located well outside the black hole horizon.

This is accomplished based on the first order variation of the area functional in arbitrary dimensions. For these types of black holes, the angular momentum appears at the first order of the perturbative expansion of the holographic entanglement entropy for spacetime dimensions of d +1 $\geq$ 4. We obtain a form of holographic entanglement first law in the presence of both energy and angular momentum.

Based on our earlier work [1], we obtain the self-force using quaternions in Janis-Newman and Giampieri algorithms. In four dimensional rotating space-time the electromagnetic self-force is repulsive at any point, however, in five dimensional rotational space-time, we find a point r0 where the electromagnetic self-force vanishes. For r < r0 (r > r0) the electromagnetic self-force is attractive (repulsive).

We show that the soft part of the charge generating infinitesimal superrotations can be expressed, in harmonic gauge, in terms of metric components evaluated at the boundaries of null infinity that are subleading in a large radius expansion. We then recast the spin memory observable in terms of these boundary values.

We studied the gravitational collapse of a shell of dust in shape dynamics. We found out static and oscillatory solutions. In the large momentum limit we found out that the shell never reaches the singularity when the momentum of the shell is much larger than the mass of the shell in magnitude. The shell does not reach to the origin in a finite amount of time however when the momentum of the shell becomes comparable to minus the mass of shell, the large momentum approximation breaks down. Therefore more detailed future works hopefully may be able to answer the question of singularity formation in this setup.
